No Internet with Parallels (using Vista)

Just got Parallels and Installed Windows Vista. For some reason I can't get on the internet. Under device manager networking isn't even an option. I can't turn on network discovery, and because of all of this I can't get on the internet with windows to get necessary software and rives. Using the Mac side everything is kosher and i can surf the web. Any advice so I can surf the web with parallels?

Help my brand new imac and ipad2 will not connect to the internet with Windstream using an "2WIRE" DSL modem. Windstream tech service is useless. i can connect with the built in router through Ethernet or wireless, but still no connecting to internet, help! windstream said everything is working on their end, yea right. What i do know is that both the mac and ipad work at other places and can connect with wireless connected to the internet, so i know it's not the apple products.
these are brand new machines with lion.
This is my first mac, so I’m still new to how it works, which is not helping either so a detailed help would be great. Please help before my wife losses it

There is a 2701HG-B, and a 2701HG-D. If not labelled on the modem, ask Windstream which one they presently supply or how to tell the difference.
By the way tell your wife it isn't that bad. At least you have an ethernet DSL modem. There were times where DSL modems had RJ-11, USB, and Ethernet, and all three were used to provide access. At least now only the craziest DSL providers still use those modems.

Oh help please - Parallels using Vista

I am running Parallels with Vista on a mini mac and getting a message
"You are running out of free hard disk space.
Free some disk space on the hard disk and click Continue."
In Parallels Image tools I compacted the files and attempted to increase my virtual hard drive capacity from 32 MB to 64 MB. I got a message "unable to process the specified virtual hard drive image" However, when I went back, the capacity had been enlarged to 64MB.
I restarted the computer and I'm still getting the same flippin' "runnning out of hard drive space' message and can not open the parallels desk top. The more information tells me this:
Free space on the drive=/Users/tlsbooks/Documents/Parallels/Windows Vista 1.pvm necessary to run the virtual machine: 2485 MB.
Current free space on the drive(/Users/tlsbooks/Documents/Parallels/Windows Vista 1.pvm): 2571 MB.
This the extent of my computer knowledge concerning this... I have absolutely no idea what to try. If someone could help, that would be great...all the files I need for a class I am teaching tomorrow or sitting in Windows documents. Thanks!!!

Added on: in the configuration menu, all the shared application boxes are marked: Share Windows applications with Mac OS X, Enable Smart Select, Share Mac OS X applications with Windows.
Thus I can see what is on my Mac desk top on the Parallels desktop. Could this be causing part of the problem?

Using Bloomberg Professional Excel Add-In with Parallels and Vista

Has anyone successfully used the Bloomberg Excel Add-In for Excel 2007, Windows Vista, and Mac OS 10.5#? Bloomberg professional works fine, but I can't get any data to populate with the BDS(), BDH() or BDP() functions.

Check the file permissions on c:\winnt\system32\msvcr71.dll. This needs to be 'Read/Execute' for 'everyone'. The add-in installation only gives permissions to the User who is installing the add-in. Which causes problems when other users need to access the Add-in. (Similar problem on Citrix / TS). <BR><BR>James Archer

Problem printing with Lightroom using Vista

I just recently upgraded my XP system to a Vista 64 bit system. I print
digital photos using Adobe Lightroom 1.4. With my XP system, I had a
good match between my calibrated monitor (NEC 2690) and my printer (HP
B9180) working in the ProPhoto RGB color space using LR. I use ICC profiles (mostly HP Advanced Photo Paper) and let the Lightroom application manage the color. With Vista, I've lost my match. Skin tones look great on my monitor and now print with a red tint. A blue sky prints with a purple cast. I tried Lightroom Beta 2 but no difference. I'm using NEC's SpectraView II calibration software which is 64 bit compatible.
My workflow is to import the raw file into LR. After initial editing I then external edit the file in CS3 as a TIFF. If I print this TIFF file from CS3, it does match my monitor. If I print this same TIFF file from LR (my preference because of the print templates), skin tones look sunburned. If I export the TIFF file from LR as a JPG and print from CS3, it also matches my monitor. I reviewed my color management settings many times and can't find what's causing this problem.

I had the 'opposite' problem when I installed Vista 64. I had a perfect match with XP, Samsung SyncMaster 225BW, and B9180 printer. The monitor profile was created using Spyder 2 Pro. With Vista 64 my prints were desaturated. By increasing saturation by about +30 I had a reasonable but still not 'perfect' match.
I found and installed the Photoshop CS3 patch for the 64bit B9180 driver thinking it might be a solution, but that didn't change anything WRT the printer/monitor match when using Lightroom. I then tried printing from CS3 but had exactly the same mismatch. I then fell back to the first 'old standby', I uninstalled all of the HP printer software and then re-installed the printer software and the Photoshop CS3 patch. Problem solved. YMMV

How do connect to internet with Leopard and Vista x64

After installing Leopard, then running Boot Camp and installing Windows Vista x64 I cannot connect to my router, either by Ethernet or Airport. Windows could not detect any wireless network when trying to set up a wireless router. When I try to connect to the router with an Ethernet cable I get an error message telling me to "The underlying Ethernet connectivity required for the broadband connection was not found. Please install and enable the Ethernet adapter on your computer via the Network Connections folder before attempting this connection. I know the router and the MacBook Pro are working because I can connect either with Ethernet or Airport when I am running Leopard. The router is a D Link WBR-2310.

It happened to me as well on Windows XP. I managed to get it to work by changing WEP password on the Airport to WPA/WPA Personal. It seems Windows is finicky about WEP set ups...

Safari wont open web pages using Vista

After installing Safari on a windows vista PC I keep getting the same message Safari can’t open the page. I am able to open web pages with internet explorer

I'm using Vista too and have no problems accessing webpages with Safari. Do you use a Proxy? Maybe your Firewall blocks Safari...

Windows XP or Vista for use with Parallels on MacBook 2.16 GHz?

As described in my earlier post, I'm currently switching from my G4 PowerBook to a new MacBook 13" 2.16 GHz.
I'll have to use Windows parallel to OS X (plan to do that with Parallels Desktop) and would like to know what you recommend:
Windows XP or Windows Vista?
Vista should be better in security issues, however it should also consume much more ressources and thus run slower ... is that right?
What's your experience?

personally I favour XP over Vista (at least for now and the near future), because as you mentioned Vista a much more hungrier than XP and also because there are still a lot of applications which do not work correctly or at all in Vista.

BT Yahoo Toolbar - I am unable to get this to open, using Vista, however, have succesfully got it to show on my laptop with XP, using v3.6.8 of Firefox.

I am using Mozilla Firefox v3.6.8 with XP on my laptop and Vista on my desk top. I was asked by BT Yahoo to download the new BT Yahoo Toolbar. This I achieved on my laptop with XP, but have been unable to get the toolbar to show on my desktop using Vista. The file downloads and fails to create the toolbar.

Here (at work) we have in the past have had IMAP and SMTP enabled on our Exchange server so Thunderbird could then connect just like to any other regular internet-based service.
With the change here to outlook365/outlook 2010 I've had to switch to using DavMail which lets Thunderbird talk to the mail server using OWA.
I haven't (seriously) tried Exquilla. Whilst I have great respect for its author and some of his other add-ons, I saw no reason to use an add-on that required payment when DavMail works for free.

Cannot install Flashplayer 10 with Mozilla firefox 3.6.13 using Vista

I can down flash player but when I try to install I receive a message that says "installer will automatically continue when these conflicting applications are closed". It then lists Mozilla firefox. What is going on here. I've tried numerous times but each time it says I must close firefox.
I am using Vista Home 32 bit and Firefox 3.6.13 32 bit.

Hi, I would just use one browser to do this. Go to the site from the link I gave you. You will see this: This is the Installer for IE.
Just click once on "Download EXE Installer" on that site. It will open and you will see "Run", "Save". Just click on SAVE. It will ask you where, choose Desktop so you can easily find it. Then do the same with the Firefox link, below.

Be sure to use the Administrator Account when Uninstalling & Installing.
Before you Install, you want to be sure that when you ran the Uninstaller, you achieved a clean Uninstall. I can't access the internet with Firefox on my computer (Windows 7 PC). I have used Firefox as my browser for 1 year but 5 days ago it stopped working even though Internet Explorer worked fine. I can't solve the problem and need some help.Randy Brown

I am having some difficulty accessing the internet with Firefox on one of my PC computers. I normally use Mozilla Firefox as my web browser and google is my homepage and gmail is my email system. The operating system is Windows 7. For over a year this system worked perfectly but a few days ago it stopped working. When I launch Firefox now I get the message that that website (www.google.com) is unavailable. In fact, I can’t access any website and I am blocked from the internet entirely within Firefox. My internet connection is fine because Internet Explorer works fine. I can access google and any other website within that web browser. I have investigated all the security issue I can manage and found no smoking gun. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox to no avail. Is Windows 7 compromising the effectiveness of Firefox? Any suggestions or other assistance you can offer would be appreciated.

You only have to clone your mac when using certain cable modem. You don't clone your mac when using dsl.

Yes, it supports target display mode. Windows can be run with either Parallels or Boot Camp.

Same case with wifi connection as well.
Also after updating new IOS-5, whenever i make USB connection it does not display my name under my computer.
But before it use to display my name now it is coming as Apple I-phone.
Anyone who can help on this, how to get it resolved.
- I have update my phone with backup (OLD version of IOS) but issue still presists.

If the message that is displaying is "Network connection timed out", disable any Anti-Virus or Firewall software on the comptuer or check with the company that supports the product on how to modify it to allow iTunes to connect to the Internet.
