No IP Address on wi-fi following upgrade to OSX10.8.2
BACKGROUND
I was previously running OSX 10.7.5 on my late 2011 MBP and upgraded to OSX 10.8.2.
Now I can no longer connect to my wi-fi.
All other devices continue to work well with my wi-fi network.
THE PROBLEM
I can see my wi-fi network, and the MBP connects, but can't get an IP address, then disconnects, then looks again etc etc.
I have an allocated IP address for the MBP and previously, using DHCP on the MBP it would connect instantly with this correct IP address.
My wireless router's MTU was set to 1492.
TROUBLESHOOTING
I tried using DHCP with a manual address (set to the MBP's allocated address) and this connected for a short time, then dropped out and the same old problem appeared.
I added a new network location (wi-fi 2), deleted the old one, and set this to DHCP auto and renewed the lease. No improvement.
I tried manually reducing the MBP's MTU to 1453 as suggested here: http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/02/fix-os-x-mountain-lion-wireless-connection-proble ms/ . No improvement.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Had the same problem this morning after updating to 10.8.2. Mail was finding my dot-mac account as always, but System Preferences popped up and said my iCloud password was incorrect. Did the "forgot password" reset, but still had the same problem. Then I went to icloud.com in Safari, logged in with the new password, it worked no problem. So I went back to the icloud preference pane, signed out of icloud, answered yes to all the warnings about data being deleted from my mac, blah blah blah, then re-signed in to icloud. Everything worked. I did have to set up my icloud account in Mail again, which now lists the account mailbox as "iCloud", and not "mac.com" as it did before. But so far, everything is working (fingers crossed.)

Itunes wont open following upgrade to version 10.6. Restore Windows error
iTunes just wont open following upgrade. How can I remove iTunes off my iMac and load software again. I can't remove from Finder or Preference it says iTunes must be installed on the machine? Help, I cant get to my music !!!!
No, it's telling you to upgrade iTunes on your COMPUTER. Not on your phone. Download and install the latest version for http://www.apple.com/itunes.
If you have a Mac, you must be running at least OS X 10.6.8. -

When I send a mail from my iPhone, it displays the mail server name to the receiver if the mail and does not display my name or e mail address. This only since upgrading my iPhone5 to iOS7. I've checked all settings etc. anyone have a solution please?

I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on iMac OS X and have recently had to reinstall the OS following upgrade to an SSD. I cannot update Photoshop as it says it is unable to extract the downloaded files (U44M1/2010). Should I reinstall Photoshop and Bridge from scratch or is there an easier way?@@ !
Sounds like you transferred programs from another drive? This isn't a very good way to do it. Yes, re-install the Adobe apps.

Inventory Collection Failure Following Upgrade to 3.2
We have 90 Cisco VPN 3002 Hardware clients deployed that we manage using Ciscoworks. Before our recent upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 all VPN 3002 devices previously inventoried and fetched configs successfully.
Following upgrade this week we are seeing Inventory Collection failures for some (not all) of the VPN 3002 devices.
Not sure if upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 installs a new device package for this device, but checked following upgrade and there are no Software, Device or Package updates on CCO that we need to install.
I have attached output from IC_Server.log for one of the failed VPN 3002 devices and it looks like the Inventory Collection failure is SNMP related (see attached).
Any idea if we need to upgrade code on the VPN 3002 devices? I tried deleting device from Ciscoworks and readding without success and Config Fetch is working on readded device.There appears to be a problem getting the ifTable from these devices. It would be helpful to see a sniffer trace filtering on SNMP traffic to one failing device, then on one successful 3002 when performing inventory collection to see if there are any obvious problems. The device is replying with a noSuchName error, but it's not obvious exactly which object is causing the problem.
The other error here is related to the following Altiga objects:
alSepModuleStatsType
alSepModuleStatsState
alSepModuleStatsDspCodeVersion
Again, a noSuchName error is coming from the device.
There were no code changes in the 3.2 device package for VPN3000 devices, so something must be going on with these devices. -
Unable to connect to WiFi Network Following Upgrade to OS X 10.9.1
I wanted to post thus to ask if anyone is experiencing issues with WiFi following upgrading to 10.9.1?
On Monday I upgraded to 10.9.1 from 10.9. Immediately following the install and reboot, plus for the next four hours - all was well. I have booted up the MacBook this evening and now I am unable to connect. The following is being reported in Console;
time airportd: _doAutoJoin: Already associated to "network name". Bailing on auto-join
time kernel: Airport: Link a Down on en1. Reason 8 (Disassociated because station is leaving)
I have connected to the network many times previously without an issue. My iPad, iPod and my iPhone connects fine. Also a couple of a Windows 7 SP1 machines connect fine.
I have saved out the airport plits file, creating new settings from scratch - didn't work. Rebooted, etc - didn't work. Put the initial plist file back - still doesn't work. Currently unable to reboot the router.
Is this an issue with 10.9.1?Got it working... Needed to reconfigure the Network settings and reboot the router.

My La Cie external hard drive drops it's connection after mounting on my iMac computer. This problem seems to have started after upgrading to OSX10.6.7. When I turn on my computer and than turn on the external hard drive the hard drive mounts to my disk top without any problem, but when I bring up Mail or Safari the hard drive drops its connection. Is there a fix for this problem? Hope someone can help.
The connection to 10.6.7 may just be a coincidence. I had a similar problem with a disk and was about to throw it out but decided to try a different USB cable. That fixed the problem and the drive is still in use.
Try a new cable if you have not already done so.

17" 2009 mid macbook pro shutdown after upgrade to OSX10.9

I have a 17" mid 2009 MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro 5,2). I was running with Snow Leopard OSX10.6 with no problem. However, since Adobe and many software require later version OSX. I upgrade to OSX10.9 last week. Once I finish upgrade. I can't run my macbook with the higher performance setting (Nvidia 9600 graphic card) under battery power. It will shutdown immdeatly. Sent the machine to Apple Store. Same issue happen under OSX10.7 and 10.8. They ask me to replace the logic board. However, they can't not answer why this issue wasn't happening in OSX10.6.
I'm wondering if anyone else have the same issue?
Is this really a hardware fail?

I have been working on solving a power issue on the same MacBook Pro model (mid-2009 17", 5,2).
The machine would not start when running from the battery, and would require 2 or 3 attemps before properly booting when running from AC power.
Since it is not my personal machine, the first thing we did was put the original HDD in an external USB case for its original owner. After that, I installed a brand new copy of OS X 10.9.1 on a spare HDD I had lying around. The original owner also claims that the machine would not boot anymore even while running on AC power, although I have not entirely been able to reproduce that issue (as stated, after 2-3 attemps the machine will boot and run for hours).
After a few tests (SMC reset, memory modules replacement, etc), I seem to have been able to make the machin crash systematically if I both :
1. Run from battery and
2. Use the (discrete) GeForce 9600 instead of the (integrated) GeForce 9400.
So it's basically the same problem as the one you're having !
Also OS X reports the battery as having about 670 power cycle on its belt, and as requiring service.
I am now wondering if there is an issue with some capacitance/condensator not properly soldered anymore, and not able to whitstand larger power requirement from the 9600 and/or from the boot process, while running from the battery. I'm seriously considering a reflowing of the logics board solder, but it's quite a delicate process. Also the report of simialr/identical issues on support forums, where customers have replaced either their battery or logics board but have seen no improvement, makes me dubious about this. There's a very small PCB that basically handles the MagSafe power connector, and I'm wondering if a defect there might be the root cause fo these issues, so maybe I'll have a close look at this one before trying anything else.
Please, do keep me informed though this channle of you find anything worthwhile.

TS1248 Track Pad not working correctly after upgrading to OSX10.8
I've the same issue since yeterday night after upgrading to OSX10.8 from OSX10.6. The problem I am having is only right side of the track pad is not working.. Did some one already experience this issue ?

I'd recommend trying another VI function to get the power spectrum for
your signal to see if the behavior is the same. You can find some
examples of VIs using the power spectrum functions using the NI Example
Finder.
You can go to LabVIEW's Example Finder by going to Help >> Find Examples.
Then search for FFT. There should be some results that include FFT and
Power Spectrum Units.vi, Power Spectrum Measurement.vi, Basic Spectral Measurements.vi, and Spectrum Measurements.vi. Try opening and
running these examples to see if the VIs are returning the proper
results.
