No iPod backlight; not the brightness option

No iPod backlight; not the brightness option
Ive read through the board and can't find an answer to this. My classic recently has been working fine OTHER than the backlight not working. Its NOT the brightness option in the menu, its on full. The light will come on if I reboot ipod with center/menu buttons, but will soon be back to not working shortly. I've also tried restoring and while it seemed like it might work, a little while later its back to not working. IDEAS???
thanks

Sounds like the backlight is burning out, which does happen with most iPods overtime. It's a hardware issue, meaning you'll need to have the iPod serviced/replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.

I can download from iCloud to one iPod but not the other.  It says downloaded but doesn't show up in music...

I'm not sure what you mean by the "music library" - are you looking in the Music app?  Or the iTunes app (which is not the one to be looking in)?

  • HT2534 In the step #10, I have not the "None" option. What can I do?

In the step #10, I have not the "None" option. What can I do?

This is how I discovered and solved my problem!
None option will be visible only when you pretend to download a free app and select create new Apple ID.
1- Pretend to down a free apps from iTunes Store
2- Create new ID (make sure you have new email also)
3- None payment type will be surely visible
    4. Click, fill in information and continue and finish
    Hope that help!!!

Screen stuck on gray, used shift key and my screen appears with MacBook Pro and not the recovery option. Please help!

    Hi ..
Shift key boots into Safe Mode, not Recovery.
This only works on a Mac running v10.7 Lion or later.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery
If you can't boot into Recovery Mode, help here >   Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup

  • How do you remove a playlist from the iPod but not the library

How do you remove a playlist from the IPod but not the library?

If it was originally on the camera roll try this: take another unimportant photo for test purposes, copy it to any special folder you have created within Photos, connect your iPad to your computer, locate it as any other external device, and most likely that Photos folder will be the only thing that will show up, locate the photo, delete it and then sync your iPad.
If the test photo is gone from the camera roll but still in another folder within the app then you know that the system works so go ahead with the process. I understand that there are other photo apps which might let you achieve your goal much quicker.
    Hope thi helps.

  • HT1351 Only want to see sync songs/artists/albums on iPod touch (not the whole library in iTunes). How to do it?

I only want to see on iPod touch songs/artists/albums manually selected for sync (not the whole library in iTunes). How to do it? Not sync titles appear in grey colour...

So if I understand you correctly, you want to be able to sync only certain songs, artists, and albums correct? If so you can configure this set up from under the iPod's Music configuration tab in iTunes as described in the Syncing Automatically section in the Apple support document you linked in at the top of the page.  Note that you cannot select only certain songs, but you can set it up to sync selected Artists, Genres, and Albums.
If the tab and its configurations are grayed out, it is likely because your iPod is set up for manual management, meaning the manually manage music and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab.

  • My iTunes will ONLY backup my iPhone ONCE *SO* VERY quickly, almost as if it's done nothing... (not the three options for rollback as promised) HELP! Please Read...

    Hi there,
thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this, but, my iTunes will perform a backup on my iPhone ONCE. By which I mean, it will do another new backup again if I want it to, and that's all fine... but it's supposed to hold (I think) THREE states of backup that the user has saved at various points in order that the user can choose and rollback/restore from whichever one they want.
There is none of that. I get the drop-down menu if I choose to restore... but it's pointless as there's only ever one option.
At the moment, no matter how close together I perform the backups, or how far apart... I get ONE backup saved in my iTunes.
As far as I can tell this is also ONE backup between iCloud or the computer. i.e. I don't get one for each. Just whichever I performed most recently.
iTunes absolutely DID NOT used to do this. I used to get the three options and it took a little bit of a wait for the backup process to go through fully.
Can anybody help or shed some light on this?
As a sidenote: It's slightly concerning that the backup process it performs is now lightning quick and it almost seems as if it's doing nothing, when in fact my iPhone is absolutely, irresponsibly rammed with everything... hence the worrying need for backups and solving this issue etc. etc.
Please can anyone help me with this, or even give a little support?
P.S. Yes, I fully anticipate being told not to have my iPhone so stuffed etc. etc. It's got about 1-2gb free and I figure you should get to use what you pay for
Thank you so much in advance.

I have to say, this is so weird because it's actually become this way in the past week maybe, and I'm sure me saying this here will be disputed, ridiculed and belittled, and that's absolutely fair, but I've got to say it... up until a few days ago, my iTunes sync/backup area really would keep more than one backup for my one, single iPhone. They were all timed and dated with a drop-down menu (which appeared if I clicked the restore button) to choose which one I wanted to roll back to, for example. Sure, I'd read about the three backups thing etc. etc. and perhaps I got that wrong or misunderstood, but I can honestly say, I only ever had at the most two backups, that I could drop-down and choose to restore from. They were there. Same iPhone. Different dates.
At the time, when this seemed to be the case, the backing-up process took quite a while. I would leave it to progress while I went and made a cup of tea, come back and it still wasn't finished running. So, not really AGES, but a little while.
Now, when I perform a backup, the progress bar almost shoots across to a finish. I'll 'fess up... that worries me most of all. I can live without the luxury of a menu of backups... but if it does it once, I'd like to be sure it does it at all.
Much more importantly though, thank you for your replies so far.
Any further input, even if it's to belittle or shame is totally welcome. I'd like to understand this a bit more.
    Thanks again.

  • Ipod updater not giving update option

so something dumb happened with my 3rd gen ipod...i put some more cds on my ipod. Ejected the ipod. Got in my car and there were no songs on my ipod at all. However, it still says that i've used 10.4GB. It would be real cool if i didn't have to reset my ipod. Is there anyway to do so?

Reset is like rebooting - doesn't do anything bad.
Restore is reformating - your music will be lost.
If you want to see if your music is actually there or gone, try this:
Connect your iPod to your computer and enable it to be used as a disk - you want the iPod icon to be showing on your desktop.
    Open the Terminal App (Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
Type:cd[space] - then drag the iPod icon into the Terminal window - then hit [return].
Type: ls -la - this shows you the directory structure of the iPod.
Your music will be in the iPod_Control directory. To get to it type:cd iPod_Control[return].
Check contents of iPod_Control directory using ls (or ls -la) (that's a lower case "L", BTW)
Music is in the Music folder - should have lots of items in it.
To check, type: cd Music[return]:ls -la
At this point, you should see lots of directories: F00, F01,F02,F03 ...if those aren't there, your music isn't there.
You can check a few of those to be sure that each directory has something in it.
If you can see your music on the iPod, then you need to determine why it isn't playing. If you don't see it, then that explains why it doesn't play - it's not there - and you need to resolve why it didn't transfer.

  • I'd like to load my playlists into my ipod, and not the library, but how?

    Hi.
I recently bought an ipod and I have been filling iTunes with my CDs. Now there are more GBs in iTunes than my ipod can handle. Which is fine by me. But now I would like import the playlists I've made in iTunes to my ipod, but leave the iTunes library behind, too big anyway. Would anyone, please, direct me on how to do just this?
Another side to this problem is how can I order iTunes to begin by importing the playlists, and once that is done, to fill the rest of the ipod with stuff from the library. In short: How can I prioritize the imports from iTunes to the ipod? Thanks in advance.

If you cannot run the Ethernet cable from the Time Capsule to the Blu-Ray player, the next best option would be to use a pair of Ethernet power line adapters.
One adapter plugs into an AC wall socket near the Time Capsule and a short Ethernet cable connects from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to the adapter.
The other adapter plugs into an AC wall socket near the Blu-Ray player and a short Ethernet cable connects from the adapter to the Ethernet port on the Blu-Ray player.
The "psedo" Ethernet signal is transmitted over the AC power lines in your home. Works great as long as everything is on the same master electrical circuit.
Any computer / electronics superstore will have a selection of power line adapters to choose from. I've had good results using products from Cisco-Linksys or Netgear, but I'm sure there are other good choices as well.

  • Sound Problems with Ipod. NOT the headphones

Hello, a few days ago i was using my ipod and all the sudden there was no music coming out of my right headphone. I just thought it was the headphones so i bought new headphones. But that didn't solve the problem. This has happened to me before on an ipod but i could return it to the retailer i got it from, but now it is too late.
There is no sound coming from the right headphone but if i move the headphone jack around and push it in more, then i get audio in the right headphone. I have a 5.5 Generation iPod 30GB. Any ideas would be greatly thanked

    Hi
I'm not a big techie but I had this problem and i took my 5th Gen 60GB to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store in Regent Street, London and they knew exactly what the problem was.
The iPod has a weak point in the headphone socket. If pressure is exerted on the headphone jack whilst it is in the socket it weakens the socket and eventually the socket breaks (always in the right ear). The only solution to this is prevention. Always use a set of 'phones that has a short or elbow shaped jack and always remove the jack from the socket when not in use!
Sorry Patrekeosully88 but you need to contact Apple and see what they are prepared to do for you. I was lucky cos it happened before 6th Gen hit the stores and they kindly gave me a shiny new one as the case etc was in near mint condition and they could see that I had looked after it.
    Good luck!

  • HT6437 My itunes cannot locate my ipod. All the sync option are grayed out and diagnostics says that itunes cannot find usb ports and that no device is connected when it is. What should I do to solve this issue?

So itunes is giving me problems. Since around Christmas time, itunes decided to stop reading my ipod. I connect it to my computer with the usb cable and my computer will recognize that a device is connected but itunes will not. If I go to file->devices and try to sync, all of my sync options are grayed out, while before it would just automatically sync.
When I run diagnostics it tells me that under ports that it cannot find usb ports (it has a green circle?), a type of cable isn't found, and that no device is connected with the usb cable (which my ipod is). I have been trying to fix this issue but nothing is working. I've tried restarting my ipod, itunes, and my computer, i've also tried resetting my ipod and uninstalling itunes then reinstalling itunes but nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Do the USB ports work for other devices?
    Does the iPod charge?

  • IPOD Library not the same as iTunes Library

I just purchased a 30G iPOD, but when I connect/reconnect it to manage my music the options (i.e., date added, size) in the library for the iPOD, after I set them the way I want them, do not stay the same like the iTunes library does, they reset to the default settings.
I also own two iPOD Mini's and the library for these two iPODS always stay as I set them to match the iTunes library. Is this a problem with the new iPODs, or is this normal?
Also, after playing the iPOD it takes me numerous attempts to shut it off, I usually have to go back through the menu's four or five times and return to the main menu before it shuts off. I am not sure if these two problems are related, but I have never ran into these problems with my two Mini's.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Ipod backlight not turning off

ever since i updated the firmware on my ipod (stupid idea, i know), the backlight will not turn off when plugged into my computer. this is not an issue of the ipod being broken, rather a "feature" that was included in the newest firmware that was not mentioned in the changes section. aside from being annoying as ****, i'm worried that the cfl backlight will eventually die due to the constant use. of course, when it does apple will say that it merely reached the end of it's life and it's not covered in the warranty that expired already. is there any way to save the ipod from it's now inevitable demise?

Hi. I had the same problem with 1.1.1 then after upgrading to 1.1.2 the problem was solved. But if you already have 1.1.2 then try restoring it but don't forget to backup all the music first because it will erase your iPod. XD
