No IPod Touch Device Recognized in Itunes 12.01

I have an IPod Touch - Since I bought in in late 2013, I could not get ITunes to recognize and display my device in ITunes. My old IPod shuffle was recognized and displayed with the same PC and the same PC ports that I used for my IPod touch. I got so exasperated  that I packed the IPod away to avoid further frustration.
For the past week I have been embarking on the same journey again, hoping for success but alas the same experience over and over again.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the ITunes 12.01 software several times, taking care to download the software only from the Apple website.
I have update all the pertinent drivers on my computer.
I have plugged the IPod into all three ports that my PC have.
I have purchased a brand new authentic Apple Lightning to USB Cable ( The old one was perfectly good and authentic)
I have contacted the Apple support line - no luck the very friendly but clearly incapable agent suggested that I first buy a real authentic connection cable. The one that I had was bought at the local Apple store!
I have reset the IPod several times.
Despite all of the above I get the following message form ITunes whenever I connect" ITunes could not connect to the IPod Touch....because an invalid response was received from the device"
I love my music and my IPod - Is there any one that can share their success in getting it right with me?

  • IPod Touch not recognized by ITunes, but IPhone is. What can cause only one device to not be recognized?

I have tried reinstalling ITunes and resetting my IPod Touch. The computer recognizes the IPod Touch as a connected device, but ITunes doesn't. However, ITunes will recognize other devices that I plug in with the same usb cord. ITunes diagonistics only says that no device is plugged in whenever the IPod Touch is plugged in. What can cause this combination of problems, and how could I get around it?

If you have iTunes 11 on the computer and are using the same cable that works with the iPhone then:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Try on another computer
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware preoblem

My IPOD Touch isn't recognized by ITUNES after the OS got reinstalled. I hook it up and ITunes doesn't respond, it's like it isn't even connected.

  • Help for ipod touch not recognized by itunes

I am posting this to try to help others who have N ipod touch and windows is showing as a digital camera and itunes does not recognize after updating to 8.2.1. I tried EVERYTHING (uninstalling itunes, reinstalling, downgrading itunes, removing pics out of storage folder, restoring ipod, searching google for drivers for ipod, trying to find the right driver using device manager, made sure apple mobile was on and working, checked device manager under universal serial bus controls and apple mobile device was not listed, tried plugging in nano n itunes recognized it immediately... I found that alot of ipod touch owners had the exact same problem when upgrading itunes, but could not find a solution that worked..after about a week of trying fixed the problem..
Download the newest version of itunes, dont install just download the itunessetup file, then go to google and search for and download 7-zip and after installing 7-zip right click on itunes setup file and click 7-zip extract, go to the extracted folder and double click on apple mobile device then repair it, restart comp (mine still wasnt working so i tried one more time) went back to extract folder and double clicked on apple mobile device and uninstalled and then reinstalled then went to device manager and looked under universal serials bus controls and to my suprise apple mobile device WAS FINALLY listed, plugged in ipod and opened itunes and there it was, my ipod

I tried what you said to do and it didn't work.

  • IPod touch not recognized in iTunes or Windows Explorer

I have a 4th Generation iPod touch that I purchased in March 2011. It has been working perfectly until quite recently when it stopped getting recognized on my computer. It does charge when I plug it in, but it doesn't show up in iTunes or in My Computer. I don't think there's any problem with the cable because I have already tried with a few different ones and they don't work either.
I have tried everything Apple suggests and it still doesn't work. Also, I tried putting the device into Recovery Mode but again, it doesn't show up on the computer. Any suggestions?

  • Ipod touch not recognized by itunes

After installing the recent update for itunes I believe it is 11.0.1, my ipod touch no longer is detected by itunes. It is not listed under the devices. It is recognized by my computer but not my itunes. When I plug it in a screen on the ipod pops up asking if I trust this computer I hit trust and nothing happens. I can't sync it via wi-fi either. I have tried reinstalling Itunes and restarting my computer and none of that has worked.

    It is iTunes 11.1.4

  • Ipod touch not recognized by Itunes V10

Hi, my daughter's IPod Touch is not being recognized by Itunes. Issue seems to have arisen with V10 but not 100% sure. My PC will recognize her IPod touch, and her PC will recognize my older IPod model. Reloaded Itunes, and updated IPod touch software. Also went thru MSCONFIG to attempt to resolve conflicts. Tried multiple USB ports. When I plug in the IPod touch Windows seems to think it is a camera device.
    Any suggestions??

Found an answer that worked in the thread "IPod recognized as digital camera". Advice posted on 7/28 by Masta of Disasta worked. It's a bit different with XP but substantially the same process and ITunes now recognizes the IPod Touch.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is not recognized by iTunes, I would recommend the steps in the article below.  Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

  • TS1538 iPod touch not recognized by iTunes, Windows only recognizes it as a camera.

So I've been having trouble with my iPod Touch and iTunes lately. First, the registry settings for the iTunes drivers message kept popping up whenever I opened my iTunes, prompting me to uninstall and reinstall iTunes at least a dozen times. After solving that problem, Windows has been able to recognize my iPod, but only as a camera and not as an iPod, preventing me from updating my music. I've tried different USB cords in different ports, but to no avail. My iPod is recognized on other computers as an iPod. I've followed the Apple resolutions but it still hasn't fixed my problem.

I've removed and reinstalled it many times and each time I do it, I always get the registry errors and the failure to download the driver, but I resolved those. Here are the diagnostic test results:

  • Old ipod touch not recognized by itunes

I have an old ipod touch (2g) that itunes will not recognize. When I go into 'My Computer' Windows recognizes it as a camera (which it's not, but that's another story) but itunes will not find the device. I've been through the entire "ipod not recognized" help menu (updated itunes, reinstalled itunes, restarted the ipod etc) and also restarted the Apple Mobile Device Service as well as Ipod Service. The ipod still charges, but I cannot sync anything. Ideas?

I've tried all 4 ports on my computer, none of them work. When I plug in my older ipod nano, itunes recognizes it instantly.
