Why do I keep getting context menus when I click with one finger?
I have a late 2010 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion 10.8.1.
I have set my integral trackpad up so that to secondary click, (aka right click), I click with two fingers.
So why do I sometimes get a context menu appear when I click with just one finger? It gets really annoying at times.I have the same problem on my mid-2009 MBP. This after reinstalling OS 10.8.3 to fix a bunch of problems. One thing I have found is that I need to keep my other hand and fingers away from the trackpad (obviously!), but also away from the case. So, I cannot hold the MBP or rest my wrist on it if I expect the one finger click to work.
My guess is that it is some kind of "grounding". But the case is aluminum, no? So, maybe it is body heat or a weird psychic aura (do-do do-do). -

You should have set up a password. It is important to have one in order to prevent other users from installing applications and to make your Mac safer.

Then wait a few minutes and see how much battery time is remaining. If it is still low, then try disabling Bluetooth and WiFi (turn the services off completely) to see if that changes the calculated battery life at all.

Why do i always get conversion failure when converting pdf files to xls in exportpdf program?
I have had export pdf for months. I cannot export pdf files to excel files. It always says conversion failure. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? I am so frustrated! This was supposed to make my payroll reports easier, but it has not helped at all.

I can understand your frustration. Are you converting via the ExportPDF website, or from within Adobe Reader? Does the conversion failure occur every time that you try to convert a file (has it ever worked for you)?
Since you're talking about payroll, I'm assuming that you're accessing ExportPDF from a corporate computer. You may want to check with your IT department to make sure there are no firewall/proxy settings that limit your access to the Internet.
Also, make sure that you're using a supported web browser. You can find a list here: System Requirements | Adobe Acrobat Pro and Online Services
Finally, if you're using Reader, you can try disabling OCR (optical character recognition) by following the steps in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel.

Ever since I received my Macbook Pro in July 2011 I've had issues with my wireless connection at home. After software updates, Apple support suggested I reboot my router which works. But now I have to do it every other day. ???? AT&T my DSL carrier suggests I get a new router. Apparently the one I have is really old and doesn't support my Macbook Pro. Does this sound right?
If your using WEP encryption yes, Apple has discontinued that becaues it's worthless. WEP (and WPA) is cracked so encryption makes no sense.
Get a new Wireless N router, set it up with WPA2 (AES) Personal and two different 20+ randon letter/numbersymbol character passwords
One for Admin access only of the router, keep this on paper off all comptuers in a safe someplace.
One for entering into devices, computers etc for Internet Access Only.
You need the long and random password to defeat brute force attacks by GPU software that the hackers have now.
Also if you give out the password to another, they can't hack the network with the guest access password.
Computers remember the internet password, so anyone with access to your machines or network will have the password.
Since you have another Admin only password, they can't hack in. got it?
You don't need "Invisible" or "MAC Address filtering" that's a waste of time as hackers can sniff a network and causes issues getting on the network.

Thanks Peter but I was not seeking to store with I-Cloud. In fact I never store documents with I-cloud.
I was in fact trying to store the files to Documents, which is where I usually keep such things.
Have now discovered that if I leave the file untiled and simply close it, rather than saving it then it will save, oddly, to Documents. I then have to re-title it and move to the folder I want it in.
Despite the above, even once it is titled and saved in Documents then if I reopen it I still cannot then Export it to a Word or PDF file. I still just get the message . xxxxxx.pages does not exist!
Bad news as I am constantly exporting documents to Word and PDF to send to others who do not use a Mac -
