No iweb in lion

how do i get iweb in lion? it s not a available standard programm. somebody know how to get it?

iWeb is end of life as far as Apple are concerned, the only route to it is to get an old iLife disk. The good news is that it does work in Lion if you can get it.

Yes you can but there are a couple of things you need to know. See this page under "iWeb and Lion OS X 10.7"...

  • Iweb & Mountain Lion.

    iweb & Mountain Lion
Question. Currently on Imac (10.6.8) and want to install Mountain Lion. How will that effect my iweb designed website? I use my own web domiain & hosting and upload using the ftp uploader in iweb. Will that still be possible? Is there any knowing compatibility issues?
I've been searching for a clear answer to my question on this forum,  people seem to be getting icoud / iweb interaction mixed up with general functionality of the iweb program. I find the program easy and intuitive to use and would like to contine using it for as long as I can.
If i upgrade will I have problems? I don't fancy rebuilding / losing my current site.

See this page for info about running iWeb under Lion/Mountain Lion...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/mountain-lion.html
You can publish using the iWeb FTP...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
...or via FTP. Just make sure you don't check the Facebook box in the publishing settings window.

  • Iweb on Lion made my internet router crashes!

So I bought a brand new Lion 10.7.2 computer with of course no iweb on it.
As far as I have the ilife 11 package, I reinstall ilfe and iweb was working correctly. Good.
My problem starts when i decide to publish using FTP and my ftp provider obliges me to put the web in a specific folder (I cannot put it on root) and suddenly when trying to publish, it makes my internet crashes!
I tried several times and always the same result. I also tried at a friend house and the same happens. FTP publishing using iweb on Lion makes internet crashes !!!!
I look everywhere but didn't find anybody with the same problem..
My computer is brand new (no garbage).
I know that a workaround would be to publish in a local folde and after to use cyberduck for publishing but I really want to avoid a unecessary step...
    Anyone got a clue?
    Thanks
    cat

Ja ja! I hope I'm not responsible for all internet crashes in the world!
I've always published with no problem on Snow Leopard using the iweb FTP. iWeb FTP is very useful and quick: If I change just a coma, it will upload only this file. Publishing in a local folder obliges me to know which pages I changed, to select them and to upload them manuallly. And my problem is deeper: I would like to know what's happening. It's a brand new computer and it stops my internet when iweb publishes... That's a little bit scary...
These two reasons explain why I want to discover what's happening...
About webhoster, sorry I didn't explain well (english is not at all my language..) : during my searches on internet I read that somebody was saying that there was a bug in Lion when publishing in a subfolder of your domain provider. That's why I'm mentioning that I'm publishing in a subfolder. I meant that some provider let's you publish on root and you don't have to write a name in the "directory" field of iweb FTP. In my case I wanted to mention that I have to put a name in the "directory" field of iweb FTP. I'm not complaining against my provider, I just want to give all the details to explain my problem.

  • Domain name for iWeb in 'Lion?'

I wan to know how to manage my website on two different computers and after looking at other questions, a lot of people are suggesting to each other that all you do is to copy the 'domain name', locates in home folder-library-application support- iweb. however I cant seem to find the 'Library' in the home folder. does the Lion software have this. how do I access my domain for my website on Lion?

  • Can I use iWeb with Lion and Mountain Lion

I have been using iWeb for my website.

    Yes.
But the app was discontinued years ago.

  • How can I back iWeb on Lion OS?

Before Lion OS I was able to go to Library/Application Support/iWeb and just copy my website.
Now... with the Lion OS there is no iWeb folder under Application Support.
How can I backup my sites from iWeb and save in a different MAC?
    Thanks

Still another solution: In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.  Once the library if visible again you can backup your domain file as you did before.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
Or you can download an already compiiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.

  • Problem with iWeb on Lion

Hi, my iweb crash every time with Lion - Somebody help me - please!

    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
Also, in Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files, if you have them, Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Iweb on lion

I just bought a new Macbook pro with Lion on it. Unfortunaterly I noticed yhat I couldn't work with Iweb on my new laptop anymore. On the old Macbook with Snow Leopard I could work on the website www.boellaardprijs.nl I created. My question is how can I work on my Macbook pro further on this website. Now it is dead and I want to add with new content.

As Ethmoid pointed out iWeb will still be a viable web design app for some time to come.  However, if your blog contains user added comments those will be lost when MMe is discontinued.
If you do have visitor comments in your blog and want to preserve them a user has developed script to convert an iWeb blog w/comments to a WordPress blog.  You can get the info about that here:
Migrate your iweb Blog to Wordpress
Migrate iWeb blog to WordPress - Mac OS X Hints
The first like is probably the better link.
As for iWeb the following  discusses some minor tweaks required to it for use after MMe is gone:
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
This may be of help to you: Life After MobileMe.
For designing webpages with iWeb particularly for iPhones see Roddy's posts in this topic:  can i add mobile web code to my iweb...: Apple Support Communities  and his site: Build a Mobile version of your website for iPhone with iWeb. He has code that will detect the screensize of the device viewing the site and automatically redirect phones to the mobile site.

  • Iweb with Lion: Umlaute after ftp-upload on linux-Server are not correct - but worked with Leopard!

Hi from Germany. I used iweb 3.04 and OS X 10.6+ and everything worked fine on different websites, including German Umlaute ä, ö, ü, ß.
After upgrading to Lion all Umlaute are not correct spelled (strange letters) after ftp-upload on a linux-server (which is the same as before). Before upload these Umlaute are spelled correctly, but not after upload.
Trials were a) upload htaccess file b) use older iWeb 3.03 c) asking server administrator (answer: "use ae, oe, ue instead"), but nothing worked.
    Any ideas or help?
Thank you very much, and excuse my english
    Peter

The problem lies in the uploading of the files or the server itself.  If the umlautes looked good on the server before then we have to think it's the uploading process.  Try using the free FTP client  Cyberduck to upload your site folder to your server.  Then check to see if the rendering is correct.
What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?

  • Search field - how to display in iWeb on Lion 10.7.4

Hi, in my iWeb blog, I have the Search field (that a viewer would use) visible. When I upload it to my FTP server, the Search fiels disappears. While MobileMe was around, this was enabled when u had an MM account. Now that MM has gone...how does one make the Search field active in a new iWeb upload?

You can use a Google serach of your webpage by adding the code from this Google webpage, Google Custom Search, to an HTML snippet on your iWeb page.
Another Google search you can add to your webpages is described here: How can I add a Google search box to my Web site?
