No joy with Dial-Up

So when did the iTunes Store restrict downloads to high-speed internet connections only. I had problems downloading music, like I couldn't and now that I got DSL, everything is fine. Is that a new requirement now? Because I downloaded music before with dial-up. Anybody else see that?

Steven, these are the "Macintosh Requirements" from the iTunes download page:
"Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later
500MHz G3 processor or better
QuickTime 6.5.2
256MB RAM
Combo/Super Drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music."

  • Script for internet connect with dial up modem, check email & log off

I am looking for a script to connect to the internet (with dial up) external apple modem, then check email and then log off and disconnect. I don't want any other applications opening internet connect? A would use this script file with ical and could have my email checked and open up in the morning before I leave for work....being that we have dial up the entire process of connecting to the internet and checking email is time consuming. Any help is greatly appreciated. thks

You need some additional logic in there - as written, the script will launch mail, then immediately disconnect the internet connection.
At the very least you need to add a delay before disconnecting to allow for Mail to download awaiting messages.
Since you cannot predict how long a delay you'll need, a better approach would be to query Mail.app and wait until it's idle, like:
    tell application "Mail"
launch -- doesn't need to be frontmost
check for new mail -- get all mail
repeat until (get background activity count) = 0
delay 2 -- wait 2 seconds before checking again
      end repeat
    end tell
In this way the script forces a check of new mail (don't assume that Mail.app is set to auto-check, especially for dialup users who often compose mail offline and may have automatic checking disabled), and it hangs around until Mail.app has finished downloading all the messages.

  • Is it possible to use ppp cb with dialer int and AAA provided cb-dialstr

    Hello Cisco fellows,
I am wondering if I can use callback with AAA provided callback string without a rotary group but with dialer profiles.
I have tried to setup a callback server with the following config:
    interface BRI0
    no ip address
    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool-member 1
    isdn switch-type basic-net3
    interface Dialer0

    encapsulation ppp
    dialer pool 1
    dialer remote-name User_R6
    dialer idle-timeout 60
    dialer enable-timeout 1
    dialer max-call 10
    dialer-group 1
    ppp callback accept
    ppp authentication chap
But this config doesn't work for me.
I am getting the following debug messages:

    Hello Michael,
I think for the AAA provided callback string to work, you need to configure 'dialer aaa' on your dialer interface. Check the following document for a sample configuration:

I live in the country and there is no High speed available, How does Firefox for desk top work with Dial up ??? I have a great dell computer, Dimention 8400. Before I install firefox I want to know for no waste of time for either party..

Unless you enabled Find My iPad on it before it was stolen then there isn't any way to locate it. If you did enable it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
If it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.
If it was never registered to your account then it won't appear on your support profile : https://supportprofile.apple.com/
The only other ways to find it that I know of (apart from on the actual device) are via the packaging, the backup on a computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4061

Try deleting the account(s) you're having problems with, resetting your phone (hold on/off and home buttons simultaneously 10-15 seconds until Apple logo appears, release buttons and wait for it to restart), then add back your mail accounts.  I've read that this has worked for some.

  • CTI agent with Dialer option

    Hi experts,
Can someone help!!! How can I verify which of my agents is supported with Dialer option “outbound agent”. Currently I have more than 80 agents “ CTI-OS” for UCCE “ICM 7.5”
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Saeed,
This goes back to agent-skill group association. If you look at the outbound option guide for "working with agents" section, you will see how the outbound options ties into the agent.

  • EZVPN public internet split tunnel with dialer interface

I have a job on where I need to be able to use EZVPN with split tunnel but still have access to an external server from the corporate network as the external server will only accept connections from the corporate public IP address.
So I have not only included the corporate C class in the interesting traffic but also the IP address of the external server.
So all good so far, traffic for the corporate network goes down the tunnel as well as the IP address for the external server.
Now comes the problem, I am trying to send the public IP traffic for the external server out of the corporate network into the public internet but it just drops and does not get back out the same interface into the internet.
I checked out this procedure and it did not help as the route map counters do not increase with my attempt to reach the external router.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/vpn-client/71461-router-vpnclient-pi-stick.html
And to just test the process, I removed the split tunnel and just have everything going down the tunnel so I can test with any web site.  I also have a home server on the network that is reached so I can definitly reach into the network at home which is  the test for the corporate network I am trying to reach.

Not sure how that would help as I can connect into the internal network just fine, but I want to hairpin back out the interface and surf the internet from the VPN client.  The policy route map makes the L10 the next hop and it has NAT.

  • Issue with Dial-via-Office and CDMA Carriers

We recently deployed Communications Manger 9.1 with Jabber (CUPS) version 9 so that we could leverage the new Dial-via-Office feature on the iOS and Android Jabber client (version 9.1.1.21178).  DVO works great when on a non-enterprise Wi-Fi hotspot with VPN, but when using VPN over Sprint cell data, DVO disconnects after 59 seconds.  We suspect that because we are unable to send data while on a voice call that the Jabber client is unable to send a keepalive to the CUCM in order to keep the call connected.  As a result, the CUCM thinks that the call has dropped and then terminates the call.  We do not have this issue on GSM based phones.
Does anyone know if there is a timer that can be modified such that the CUCM will not drop the call even if the keepalive doesnt exist?  Or, has anyone else found a solution to this?
    Thanks,
    Chad

The closest you'll be able to get for now is the Mobile Voice Access feature where he dials a number, authenticates, and can the dial another number that CUCM sources from the user's DN. The only part it won't do is call the user (DVO-Reverse).
The DVO Forward/Reverse features are not supported by any currently shipping client. They used to be able to do this with CUMA but that is EoL. At least for now this hasn't made it's way into Jabber. The closest Jabber gets is a related feature where a call started on VoIP can be handed off to cellular. In that case CUCM does call the cell phone but the call has to start on VoIP.

  • Open Transport with Dial-up and System 8.5

    Hello,
I'm looking for definitive information on Open Transport. I have a CD service manual but their information is vague.
I'm trying to configure a 6214CD Performa with OS 8.5 and dial-up. I've had the machine on dial-up with Config PPP for a long time with 7.5.3, however, after a clean, full install of 8.5, I can't get conntected.
Config PPP "appears" to connect, but I don't believe it really is connected. From all my reading it appears that one MUST use Open Transport after 7.5.3, but I have never been able to find enough detailed information to do so.
Am I correct in that there is no actual OPEN TRANSPORT Control Panel? With the new 8.5, I no longer see Network Software Selector.
The CD service manual says the Mac OS "hides the Classis appletalk files (Network and MacTCP) by making them invisible.
I do have TCP/IP. I've used Macs for 15 years and have tried and tried but never could find good info to work within OPEN TRANSPORT. I'm willing to read and read if someone can direct me to good data,
    thanks
    Lowell

    Lowell,
I use apple + shift + 4 because it allows me to crop for just the two windows that I want. Having caps lock down will give you a bullet instead of cross hairs and captures just the window that you click on. Because TCP and Remote Access are two windows, screen capture w/ caps lock does not do the trick and a full screen capture is more than I need.
When I tutor seniors, I always wonder what their configuration was before their machine quit on them. I have to work from scratch. By taking the screen shot after configuring their computer, I can help them over the phone becuase they have a picture of what settings need to be. It saves me a lot of time explaining!
As for a small, simple program, I am afraid to say that Filemaker Plus from 1985 has served me so well over the years that I have not explored every new gadget software that has come out since. I bought one such gadget program from New Zealand more than a decade ago and was disappointed when it did less than Filemaker with more trouble, not less.
Filemaker 2.1 has 98% of the features I ever use. If you take a screen shot, paste it into a Filemaker layout and then draw text fields over the top, you get WYSIWYG capabilities. You can select the picture and designate it as a non-printing item so that you see the form on the screen but do not print a screen form onto an actual preprinted form.
There are a few OCR programs that let you scan a form and then create text fields over the top for converting forms into a database. The form is essentially the same as a screen shot at that point. Those programs are good for quick formatting while scanning into text but Filemaker is still faster for me because I was fortunate enough to start using it 21 years ago.

  • Conecting with dial up to a remote system

Im trying to create a little application that uses the computer's modem to dial a number and conects to a remote system, login to the system using a login and password that is stored in a local database and report if it conected succesfully or failed to connect.
I have worked before with java creating small applications that take data from a DB and allow it manipulation, but its completly unknow to me if there is an API that lets you use the ATDT comands to conect remotley and also I wouldn't know how to do the login and interpret if it was succesful or not.

  • Problem with dial out

I have a SPA2002 adapter which I use with an asterisk server. On the asterisk I have configured call forwarding that can be enabled by dialing *21*number#. The problem is that the linksys adapter won't let me dial *21, it immediately gives a busy tone, I guess because it tries to process it as a service itself. How can I configure the adapter to dial out with *21*? I have tried to alter different parameters of the adapter configuration, but without luck.

You're mixing up two things.. there's the asterisk as in one of the button on your phone, and then there's the asterisk as in your PBX.
hwittenb was refering to the button on the phone.. your phone dialplan needs to allow dialling stuff like "*21*" - so if you can post the dialplan on your phone, we can see if it indeed allows that number to be dialled. I'm guessing it doesn't since the call never gets to your PBX.
There are two essential pieces to tracking down a problem with your VoIP equipment:
The configuration of every device involved
    SIP protocol traces
And don't forget: there's no such thing as giving too much information when describing a problem.

  • Intermitting problems with dial-up connection...

    Spec: Powerbook G4 550Mhz, Tiger 10.4.7
I've attempted to dial and I could successfully connected, but I couldn't gain access to any websites not even my homepage (google.com).
I created a new user account and attempted to dial under that new account. I was able to connect and access any websites just fine.
I cannot pinpoint the problem? I even reset Safari.
    Any help thanks.

You wrote: "I noticed when I restarted and tried Safari again it didn't work."Since the problem returned after a restart, I'm wondering if an errant Startup or Login Item maybe the cause. My "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem. I'd focus on the Login Items on the affected account, assuming the other account still works.

the above link with all languages and systems (windows, Mac OS X Linux) exist also in mozilla.org in green box as Systems & Languages link.
    thank you
