No junkmail box

I recently purchased an imac 24" and attempted to set up my email (pop) and transfer old emails to it (which didn't go very well - lost most of them).
After having my junkmail go through a training period and then setting prefs to send junk mail to the junk mail folder, I get a response that says, "The destination mailbox does not exist." In addition, I have no "e-mail sent" sound so I'm constantly having to check to see if my mail has truly gone out.
I checked out what others had done and in one case the person had to delete his mailbox and start over. If I have to do this, I will but - will I lose the inbox and sent emails I have now? Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Before you delete anything I would try deleting the Mail Preference file.
/Users/Yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
That may help.
For the sound you may want to look in mail>preferences>general> and in that pane there is a box which needs to be checked for the new mail sounds.

  • Mail box/Address book trouble

    hi
I have had Mail running since October and have recieved mail from mates in my address book. It went into my inbox no trouble.
Now it sits in the junkmail box and I have to drag it to the in tray even though the address it is from is in my address book....
    Any tips would be helpfull

    You’re welcome.
Does the filter take precedence over the address book as there
are boxes to check off in the preferences box ?
I don’t understand the question. In theory, the junk filter does what the rule in Preferences > Junk Mail > Advanced says it should do. Apparently, however, Mail expects the Message is Junk Mail condition to be there and behaves erratically if it isn’t, or you may have changed [all] to [any], or...
I suggest you to proceed as follows:
    1. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail, disable junk mail filtering, then enable it again. This resets the junk filter rule.
    2. Choose Automatic mode and leave the other options checked. Go to Advanced to see how the junk rule is defined now if you want, but don’t change anything there.
    3. Reset the junk filter database (Preferences > Junk Mail > Reset).

  • How do you set up your spam filter?

    Greetings,
I have been fiddling with my spam filter for some time now and I still can't get it to work really good. I use the normal "Exempt if sender is in addressbook & Sender is in previous recipient but NOT "using my full name" because that seems to put everything in spam. I use the toggle "IF ALL CONDITIONS ARE MET". I also add the line "if message is junk mail" then move to trash.
The above does work but not real great.
Furthermore, I made up some more rules such as subject lines contain doctor etc and they work better.
Can someone post what they do in their basic junk mail filtering and custom rules to help me out? Also, when a piece of junk mail ends up by mistake in the junkmail box I click "not junkmail". This never returns the mail to the correct box and just sits there and I have to manually drag it. Is this correct?
    //Cheers

    Hello Julie.
Your junk filter appears to not be working properly. Try this first:
    1. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail and disable junk mail filtering.
    2. Quit Mail, then open it again.
    3. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk mail filtering, and configure it however you wish -- I recommend you to leave it at the default Automatic settings.
    4. Reset the junk filter database (Preferences > Junk Mail > Reset).

  • Fradulence & spamming

    am I alone ?
at least twice - generally  four to five times  - every day  I'm spammed by more ore less "ubelievable offers" from BestSoft/  Soft0em , and it is always Adobe products they will sell me. For instance CS5 production suite for 175 bucks. They obviously vary IP for every spam_mail as I am forced to create a new rule for my junkmail-box as these messages pops in.
Now - I am not aware of any activity from my side that should precipitate this annoying spamming, and I wonder how this could occur.
a/Are these forum sites "safety strongholds" ..or  is there any risk involved in visiting ( this and AE) adobe forums?
b/What should I do to counteract this annoying noice?
c/Is adobe aware ( obviously they are) of this fraudulence and what can adobe eventually do to help out?
    d/ will a different - a no_name nick - help?
    yes- I'm irritated

My hosting company, Applied Innovations, uses Smarter Mail (http://www.smartertools.com) for our domain's mail servers. I think they have some free versions of their stuff.
It's extremely rare that I see junk mail, and my email address is all over town. Most of it doesn't even end up in the junk folder. They use some greylisting techniques and other such things to keep most of the obvious stuff out. Occasionally I'll get a false positive that I have to fish out of the spam folder, but overall the amount of junk I get is astoundingly low.
Another thing I do that might be more relevant to your situation is to set up email aliases. I probably have a hundred or more email addresses that all point to the one that I actually use. When I sign up for products, etc. I just create a new one, like [email protected] If I start getting spam, i.e. emails I don't want from them, I just delete the alias and my normal email is unaffected. It also tells me exactly who leaked my email, since the address is tagged with the company name.

  • Icloud is blocking all craigslist emails

icloud mail is junking all craigslist emails that are sent from craigslist's new email alias system. All inquiries that people are asking though craigslist now come up as an alais such [email protected] when emailed. How do I white list these false-positives in the junkmail box?

    Hello mshaty,
I found some information about troubleshooting false-positives in the iCloud junk mailbox:
    Troubleshooting false-positives
Due to the complexity of accurately detecting and filtering out spam, on rare occasions a legitimate email from a friendly source may be blocked from reaching your Inbox. This is called a false-positive. If you feel that a legitimate email message was inadvertently filtered, you may want to ask your friend to send a follow up email to verify the issue exists before contacting support. If you notice that multiple email messages are being delayed, bounced, or not delivered, please contact iCloud Support directly.
Also make sure to check your Junk folder for email messages that were incorrectly marked as spam. To check your Junk folder from iCloud.com, choose the Mail application and click the Junk folder in the sidebar.
Note: Email messages in the Junk folder are automatically deleted after 30 days.

  • Extra Junk Mailbox

I am seeing an additional junkmail box under the original one. It's named 'Junk (A'. There is nothing in the folder. Does anyone know what this could be from?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Does this "Junk(A" named mailbox appear as a sub-mailbox to an account named Junk mailbox or is the mailbox at the same level as the orignal account named Junk mailbox under Junk in the mailboxes drawer?
There should be account named Junk mailboxes under Junk in the mailboxes drawer only - one for each account as long as each account has received a message that was automatically or manually marked as junk.
If the original account named Junk mailbox is for a POP type account, using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account).
Within a POP type account named folder for Tiger Mail should be the following mailbox folders if the function has been used by the account: INBOX.mbox, Drafts.mbox, Sent Messages.mbox, Deleted Messages.mbox and Junk.mbox. These mailbox folders represent the account named mailbox under In, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk in the mailboxes drawer.
If there is a Junk(A named mailbox/folder at the first level within the account named folder or within the Junk.mbox folder, quit Mail first and delete this mailbox using the Finder and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and this will resolve the problem.

  • Problem with junkmail folders after moving gwia from netware to linux

Recently moved our gwia that handles internet email from Netware to Sles
11 GW8.0.3 hp3. Email is moving in and out ok, but I'm getting some
really weird strangeness with Junkmail settings. Just like the old
gwia, this gwia has it's own domain/mta. Postoffices are under
    different domains/mta's.
    1. Email flagged with "x-spam-flag: yes" is no longer automatically
being moved to the junkmail folder. Yes the box is checked for this
particular's gwia settings, and I've even uncommented it in the gwia.cfg
file to to be sure it's enabled.
    2. With the "view" column enabled in the client I can see that normal
email coming in gets set with the tag "internet" Email coming in with
"x-spam-flag: yes" in the header gets set with the tag "IPM.Novell.ND"
If I right click on one these to try to manually set it as junkmail, I
get a message that the message is "Not Eligible for Junk Mail Handling"
and when I click on that a window pops up saying "This is a POP message.
Only internet mail sent to your Groupwise account is eligible for Junk
    Mail Handling"
For whatever reason instead of moving the email to the junkmail folder
when the x-spam-flag is set, it changes it to type IPM.Novell.ND and
then the client thinks that it's some sort of POP message instead of an
internet email. If I redirect incoming email back through the old
Netware gwia instead, everything works fine.
What could possibly be going on?

Did you create a new Gateway ( gwia ) object? Or recycle the old one ( which is usually a huge no-no. ) I suspect you created a new one, as you refer to the old NetWare GWIA. But you never know.

Its only enabled if the run-time config says it is. ;-) Look at the settings listed in the HTTP console for the GWIA or the GWIA logs, which dumps the settings actually being used. You may find the setting is not really effective. Check for differences between the two GWIAs effective config.... something may stick out.

  • Lost access to junkmail and notjunkmail??

I set up these two imap email folders with WGM and I could access them with Mail. Then because I wasn't satisfied with the spam filtering
I installed spamtrainer and mailfbr and ran both. These both seem to be working, but now I can't access via Mail or web2mail the two junk mail accounts. They show up in WGM and Service Admin - mail and Mailfbr displays them when it runs, but no receiving mail or access??
Like I said they both ran fine b/4 running spamtrainer and mailfbr, but not afterwards. Anyone have suggestions to fix? Or what happened?

By using mailbfr -f, you definitely did lose your custom ACLs.
    (I'm making an assumption below)
Previously, you had ACLs setup which shared junkmail and notjunkmail to you and/or other users.
The easiest way to restore the ACLs is to download SirAdmin:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/networking_security/siradmin.html
Use this tool to add an ACL to both junkmail and notjunkmail. You can specify how much access you should have (full read/write, write only, etc). I can't tell you what is right for you. Some clients provide ALL access to junkmail/notjunkmail, but that introduces some privacy issues. Some clients have notjunkmail (which contain legit mail) setup as a drop-box (ACLs = LIP) so that you can drop mail but not read what others have dropped.
Start with SirAdmin and it's directions.

  • Junkmail/Notjunkmail Users permanently over Quota despite set to 0=no limit

I'm running a Leopard Server 10.5.5 (9F33) on an intel Xserve. The problem is that the junkmail and notjunkmail users are over quota which obviously is incorrect since there are 0 mails in their box. The quota has been set to 0 for these users, which should not limit the quota.
The junk/notjunk boxes shall be shared IMAP boxes across all users, so they can participate in spam training the server. (This has proven to be working well with most users.)
Cyrus reports this for the quota.
    $ sudo -u _cyrus /usr/bin/cyrus/bin/cyrus-quota
    Password:
    Quota % Used Used Root
    0 0 user/info
    0 0 user/junkmail
    0 0 user/notjunkmail
I've already used pterobyte's excellent mailbfr to check and fix quotas and owner/privs. Nothing seems to help. Even after a clean install the problem arises, which I have not encountered before. Of course there is plenty of space left on the device.
Rest of the setup is not modified much, just the usual antispam stuff and postfix style aliases.

  • Contact form check boxes will not work on a Tablet

    Hi there,
I created a website (Desktop) and a mobile version (Phone).  I did not create one for a tablet but have relied on the Desktop version if someone views it on a Tablet.
Here's the thing, I created a contact form with checkboxes.  It works great on a desktop (because people check the boxes with their mouse), however, it doesn't work on a Tablet, when you try and check the boxes with your finger.
    Help!

    Please share the site URL.

  • Expand Text Box? "Advanced" text options not hidden?

The title text box/editor is very small in the 10.2 update.  It's just big enough for 2 lines of text.  I find it fairly inconvenient to have it so small (I am referring to the text box in the inspector).  I'm guessing there is no way to expand this to fit more lines of text in, but if anyone knows how that'd be sweet! Otherwise I'm just crossing my fingers it gets a quick update since I'm using it every day for work.
Also, the "advanced" tab always being collapsed in the basic text editing tools is annoying, too.  I use this every time I make a title(which I'm making two videos a day, so it's a little more tedious now after the update).  Personally, for a professional program I would consider the options in the "advanced" section to actually be basic and fairly necessary...based on how I use it, so maybe I'm not a normal case.
Nothing is broken, just less convenient...
    Thanks y'all!

That is a wonderful idea if I could find where to do that (maybe another feedback will be to make finding the feedback area easier (: ). Where can I find the feedback area?  Thanks for the quick reply as well!

  • How to get ALL values as default for  a drop down box in JSF

    Hi,
I have a drop down box in JSF page which retrieves values from LOVCache.java. I have values like Company, Client, User, ALL in the drop down box.
By default blank value is selected for the drop down box. I want to make ALL(which retrieves data for all the values) as default value for the drop down box.
Could any body help me? Any help must be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Thanks Nikhil. But I am fetching the values from the LOVCache.java.
I am using <af:selectManyChoice>. Is there any way I can use LOVCache.java value for selecting default values instead of hard coding?
I mean to say can I write
    unselectedLabel="#{LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList.anyValue}"
where LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList is used to populate the drop down box.

  • New VMS/IPC boxes - speed and pricing

For the most part, I've been a very happy FiOS customer. The internet side has gone out exactly once in the year I've had the service, and it was restored within an hour. TV has dropped out twice, both times very late at night (I assume for head-end maintenance). Reliability is better than every other ISP I've ever had, combined.
    That said..
I wanted to snag another STB for the house - found out the local stores had all been closed (I can understand why from the financial aspect, but it was still a shock pulling up to my old store to pick up another STB.. and finding a "for lease" sign, when I'd been by there 2 months prior), so I looked at options online. The new VMS + IPC boxes looked promising, especially since they added the ability for the entire house to pause, rewind, schedule recordings, etc, from any TV - instead of only the DVR being able to do that (though the old boxes could stream recordings from the DVR).
My chief complaint so far - while the VMS box itself is responsive, the IPC boxes are painfully slow to respond to anything. Picture quality is fantastic, but using them feels, to put it in nerd terms, like using a Pentium 90 with Windows XP and 128MB RAM. They take 5+ to respond to anything more than a channel change (and even that takes up to 3 seconds), and frequently "lose" remote key presses if you try to, say, hit guide, hit page down, then try to arrow down to the channel that you know is on the next page. It literally feels like a throwback to the earliest digital set top boxes from Comcast/Time Warner - the first ones with built-in TV listings in the mid 1990s. The speed is right on par with them; the only thing faster right now is they don't shut down for 30 minutes a day to update the TV listings.
I've gone through the built-in diagnostics on the boxes to verify signal levels - they're decent (not perfect, but this is a 20 year old house with mostly original coax), but we have no pixelation or picture drop-out, so I would think they could carry the basic stuff between the IPC boxes and VMS pretty easily. The router certainly has no problem handling the 75/35 on the same coax (speedtest shows 85-90 down, 35-40 up, with a ~5ms ping, no matter which cable outlet it's plugged into)..
My other complaint - why did Verizon move to "rooms" for pricing? I thought I was getting a DVR plus 3 STBs (since I ordered 3 STBs and asked for a DVR), instead of a VMS + 2 STBs - and I'm paying much more than I did for the old DVR + 2 STBs.
With the griping out of the way - is there a reasonable chance that firmware updates will help with the speed of the IPC boxes? Or is there a chance it's a cabling issue? (I have no problem pulling new coax or cat5e, and I can provide signal levels if that'll help) If not, is there any chance of getting the old QIP7232 DVR + QIP7100 box back (and adding another 7100), and switching back to what I was paying before? I know they're a bit antiquated (especially the 7100s), but they were much more responsive, and didn't make me want to throw the STBs through the window. It just seems really rediculous that I'm paying such a large premium (plus the "upgrade fee") for equipment that, in terms of the user experience, is much worse.
Again.. been a happy customer for a long time, but the new terminals are super painful to use.
    Thanks.

If this is the case.  I think I will wait till the bugs are worked out
Question what were you paying before and after for the boxes.   So what was the old DVR + 2 STB's and the new DVR plus 2 stb's
Trying to get an idea of what you meant by way more.  Most people said same pricing and a small $20 or so upgrade fee

  • New Black BT Vision box - what is missing, a discu...

Maybe it's just me but here is a list of things which are currently missing or wrong with the new BT Vision box (black edition with new interface and OS). Thought it might be useful to keep a list of these going which people can add to.
would also appreciate it if anyone can help with any of these issues in case i've missed something
Red button doesn't work - believe this is  'coming soon'. you can still access the channels by going to 301 or 302
Teletext doesn't work - the button pops up a message saying it's not available, coming soon?
There is no way to set recordings to over run? - this used to be very handy on old box, particularly with live shows. is this being brought back?
No signal strength tester - you used to be able to check digital signal reception strength and quality from the settings menu, not any more
Pressing 'play' when viewing a recording doesn't flash up the progress bar - any other good way to do this, used to be handy. Fix: pressing "select" does the trick
no HD Freeview - the box isn't capable, wondering whether they might upgrade us to YouView later on for this?
No options to set resolution - used to be able to define 720p or 1080i for instance, not any more
Sky Sports small white box - a small logo in the bottom right area, not sure what this is or why it's now there?
    Subtitles on iPlayer missing
Some reported picture quality issues - both on SCART and HDMI
    On the plus side:
Bigger capacity on the hard disc
Faster inteface and movement between sections
