  • System.out.println in SAP J2EE Engine - Config Tool

I was having problems with viewing my System.out.println sentences in my NetWeaver's J2EE applications.
It's supposed that I can't see the files because I have to assing a log archive for System.out controller in SAP J2EE Engine - Config Tool.
The problem is that I can't find the place to modify the property of that controller!
I've edited the log-configuration.xml file, but when I restart the server to reload the new configuration, the files I've added to this file, disapear.
    Any idea about this???
    Any answer is well accpeted.
    Thanks,
    Alberto.

Nobody knows something about this System.out problem??

  • Changing JVM version in CE 7.1 SP11 using Config Tool

    Hi Experts,
I have CE 7.1 SP11 installation, in the server node I could see two versions of JVM (jvm: sapjvm_5.1.017 and sapjvm_5.1.058 in directory usr\sap\<>\SYS\exe\jvm\<>\....)
In Config Tool, it shows only sapjvm_5.1.058.
I faced a problem with jvm  sapjvm_5.1.058 connecting to rmi/iiop which is running in ibm webspehere, but I able able to connect properly with using sapjvm_5.1.017 which I tested by creating and executing sample Java program.
My question is - I want to change the JVM version in Config tool and want to point it to sapjvm_5.1.017.
Please suggest me how can I do this.

    Hello Balaji,
The ClassNotFoundError is complaining about class Base64.  This class is part of the util.jar library which can be found in the following location:
    ./j2ee/configtool/lib/util.jar
Please verify that this library file is present.  If it is, please verify that the file is not corrupt by executing the following command:
    jar -tvf util.jar
With the above command you should see the contents of the archive.   One of the classes should be Base64.class.
If necessary you can redeploy the configtool.sda archive which is located under
    .\SDM\root\origin\sap.com\com.sap.engine.configtool\SAP AG\<#>\<version_info>\configtool.sda.
Use SDM to redeploy the archive using option 'Update SCAs/SDAs that have any version' under the deploy tab.

  • SAP Note 723909 (Java VM): At what node to enter in Config Tool?

    Hello all,
I have problems to understand where to enter the information from the SAP Note 723909 in Config Tool since it has multiple nodes in Config Tool.
    I see it's possible at:
cluster-data > instance  (Tab: "Servers General")
    cluster-data > instance > dispatcher  (Tab: "General")
    cluster-data > instance > server  (Tab: "General")
Or do I have to copy the information in all nodes?
Do I have to adapt the combo box "Max heap size (in MB)" also in all nodes?
Thank you for answering my questions! Rewarding Points (for helpful answers) guaranteed.
    Philipp

    Achim,
thank you for your helpful and quick answer.
So the parent node "cluster-data > instance" is not of interest to me?
Or when I edit this one, does it reversely copy the data to the child node?
My (second) problem is, that I already edited the settings ... I don't feel confident, that the settings really match.
    I have 12GB RAM machine.
My cluster-data>Instance "Max heap size" is 2048
My cluster-data>Instance>Dispatcher "Max heap size" is 170
My cluster-data>Instance>Server "Max heap size" is 1024
(Excerpt of) Java Parameters in cluster-data>Instance is
    -Xmx2048m
    -Xms2048m
    -Djco.jarm=1
    -XX:PermSize=512m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
    -XX:NewSize=320m
    -XX:MaxNewSize=320m
(Excerpt of) Java Parameters in cluster-data>Instance>Server is
    -XX:MaxPermSize=256M
    -XX:PermSize=256M
    -Xms1024M
    -XX:NewSize=171M
    -XX:MaxNewSize=171M
Am I right with my feeling that these settings somehow differ to much?
From what you say do I have to copy (overwrite) the settings in cluster-data>Instance>Server with the ones from cluster-data>Instance?
Thank you for helping me out!

  • Change J2ee parameters on WAS 640-J2EE add in -config tool

I have started the config tool to change java paramters per SAP.
However I notice that config tool shows dispatcher and server and below that an instance (xxx-318782 for example) which has a dispatcher and server also.....
Why is this and which do I modify to change java parameters?
Alos where can I find the setting, it is somewhere under services directory?
    Thanks
    John R

    Hi,
the dispatcher and server nodes that appear right below the root of the tree in the Config tool contain global properties (services and managers' properties). This means those properties are used globally instead of the default properties. For more info, refer to this page: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/36/e71bbee9ab4677a744d4c4484b0bf4/frameset.htm
Next, the dispatcher and server you find under the instance xxx, are actually the elements that you've installed for your system. Changing a property on any of them applies locally, i.e. to the corresponding node (server or dispatcher).
To set java parameters, you need to click on the dispatcher or server (depending on which element's java props you need to modify). On the right side, under General tab you'll see the Java parameters field. Here is the relevant documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/39/7796e0a7be604ab63c2924045710a8/frameset.htm
    Hope that helps!

  • Visual admin tool&configer tool

whta is main difference of visual admin tool&configer tool

    Hi Raghava,
This is a post by some gentleman, I tried figuring out the thread but could not succeed.
    VISUAL ADMINISTRATOR
The J2EE Engine Visual Administrator is a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables administration of the whole cluster, all cluster elements, and all modules running on them. It provides remote monitoring and management of managers, services, libraries, and interfaces working on each element in a single GUI
    Visual Administrator includes functions for:
    a) Obtaining general information about a service, manager, interface, or library (for example, its name, group, and so on).
    b) Logging on to the J2EE Engine via the Visual Administrator tool
    c) Administrating and changing the properties either specific or common for each service or manager
    d) Configuring the global properties
    e) Runtime administration and control.
Read out more about its features on VISUAL ADMINISTRATOR.

    CONFIG TOOL :-
The Config Tool enables offline configuration of the J2EE Engine cluster elements. It is XML-based and allows exporting the system configuration for later use.
When you run the J2EE Engine Config Tool via a GUI or text-only interface, it connects to the database and scans the server configuration. The information provided is passed to the corresponding interface that is used for configuration.
Each change you can perform corresponds to a particular task in the Batch Config tool.
All modifications made using the J2EE Engine Config Tool can be exported to an XML file for later use.
    two types:-
    a) GUI Config tool :- The J2EE Engine GUI Config Tool enables offline configuration of J2EE Engine cluster elements concerning serviceu2019s and manageru2019s properties, adding new server processes, changing Java parameters, exporting the system configuration to an XML file, and so on.
After installing the SAP Web AS Java, a configtool directory is created, containing a configtool script file. Double clicking on this file starts the Config Tool.
    b) Text Only Config tool:- The text-only Config Tool enables you configuration of J2EE Engine cluster elements using a text-only based interface. It enables you to change the cluster element properties, JVM settings, add new elements, export the system configuration to an XML file, and so on.
After installing SAP Web AS Java, a configtool directory is created under <SAP_install_dir>/<system_name>/<instance_name>/j2ee, containing a consoleconfig script file. Double clicking on this file starts the text-only Config Tool.

    Regards,
    Mahesh.

    Hi,
    Please follow this steps:
Creating RFC Destinations in the ABAP and Java Environment
You need to create the following RFC destinations in transaction SM59 (ABAP) and the Visual Administrator (Java):
    u2022 AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
    u2022 AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    u2022 LCRSAPRFC
    u2022 SAPSLDAPI
Depending on your client settings, it may be necessary to be logged on your SAP Exchange Infrastructure host as SAP system user with the authorization to maintain customizing tables and to release transport orders. Note, that user "SAP*" or "DDIC" does not have these authorizations.
Maintaining the RFC Connections (Transaction SM59)
    1. Log on to your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host.
    2. Call transaction SM59.
    3. Choose Create.
    4. Enter at least the following:
    RFC destination: AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
    Connection type: T
    Description: <your description>
    5. Choose ENTER
    6. Choose the tab Technical settings and do the following:
    a. Select Registered Server Program
    b. In the Program ID field, enter: AI_RUNTIME_<SID> where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your Integration Server host. Use uppercase letters only.
    c. Enter Gateway host and Gateway service of your Integration Server host. To find out the required parameters:
    a. On the Integration Server host, call transaction SMGW
    b. Choose Goto u2192 Parameters u2192 Display (see entries for gateway hostname and gateway service)
    7. Choose tab Special Options and select the flag Unicode in the box Character Width in Target System.
    8. Save your settings.
    9. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 8 for the remaining destinations:
    Destination
    Values
    AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
Program ID: AI_DIRECTORY_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host
    LCRSAPRFC
Program ID: LCRSAPRFC_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
    SAPSLDAPI
Program ID: SAPSLDAPI_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
    10. Leave the transaction SM59 open for later tests.
J2EE Configuration for the Destinations (Visual Administrator)
    1. On your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host, start the J2EE Engine administration tool.
    2. Choose Cluster u2192 Server u2192 Services u2192 JCo RFC Provider
    3. In the section RFC destination, enter exactly the same program ID and gateway options for AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER that you used in the step Maintaining the RFC connection above. Additionally, set the number of processes to 10.
    4. In the section Repository, do the following:
    a. Enter the parameter for the SAP XI host: Application Server, System Number, Client and Language.
    b. For User and Password maintain the login parameters for the user SAPJSF.
    c. Select the flag Unicode.
    6. Choose Set.
    7. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 6 for the remaining destinations:
    Destination
    Values
    AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 10
    LCRSAPRFC
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 3
    SAPSLDAPI
    u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
    u2022 Number of processes: 3
    Testing the RFC Destination
After you have maintained all RFC destinations in both the ABAP and Java environment, you can check all the connections above as follows:
    1. Call transaction SM59 again.
    2. Open your RFC destination.
    3. Choose Test Connection. No error should be displayed.
    This will solve your problem.
    Thanks
