No Keyboard backlight and flashing Pixels New Yoga 2 Pro

Picked up my new Yoga 2 Pro 13 from BB last night with the i7 and 8gig of ram. Ive been waiting months for this thing to come back in stock and Im getting sad.
So far Ive noticed about 20 flashing pixels in various places in the screen. No bright or dead pixels, these guys are flickering. Some are single but I have some groups as well. They are super noticable in the LENOVO screen at boot, in GRUB while loading Ubuntu and In my black wall paper in Win8 so I dont think its a software issue. Also my Yellows are muddy as hell even with the rocket, but thats common I know.
Also I cannot get my keyboard backlight to come on. I have updated all my drivers, Im running the current bios, and Ive reloaded windows8 once already. No backlight in BIOS, Win8, or Ubuntu. Ive tried turning it on with Fn+Space, Ive tried disabling and reenabling hotkeys in the BIOS as well.
Im trying to avoid returing it as this was the last one availble in the state apparently and who knows when they will come back in stock but I wont keep a broken computer either. Any Help?

I think your right. I was hoping there would be some solution in the community thats just like " oh yea run this utility and hold your tongue to the left while you press ctrl+alt+shift+~+esc and it will turn everything back on and refresh your pixels

  • Is there a way to save keyboard backlight and screen brightness settings?

It seems like my settings for the keyboard backlight and screen brightness reset to some sort of default after I don't use my macair for an extended period of time.  Is there a way to change these settings so it always stays at what it was last left on?

Are you making the changes through System Preferences?  If not, try that and they should hold.

  • Keyboard Cover and Hard Case on Macbook Pro Retina

I have just heard that Apple suggests to remove palm rest protector on Macbook Pro Retina.
    Reference: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4384
    Now, my question is:
Is it ok to put keyboard cover and hard case on Macbook Pro Retina? Or will it affect the product just like the palm rest protector?
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
The keyboard protector that I got is Moshi's. They said it's extremely thin, will it be still a problem? Because as I compared with the palm rest protector, it's much thinner.
Here is the link for reference: http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV901LL/A/moshi-clearguard-keyboard-protector- for-aluminum-macbook-and-macbook-pro
And, the hard case that I mean is something like Kuzy sold in Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Kuzy-Crystal-15-4-Inch-MacBook-Display/dp/B008B09LRY/ref=s r_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1350354859&sr=8-4&keywords=kuzy+macbook+pro+retina)
Any further opinion on this issue?
    Thanks.

  • T540p Keyboard Backlight and fn-Buttons

    Good evening,
I've got a brand new T540p since 2 days. First, I installed Windows 8.1 from the Recovery Media and after the Windows and Lenovo Updates I installed all the Software I need.
Yesterday I noticed, that I have to push Alt+Fn+F4 to close a Window. Or I have to push Fn+F3 for a Searchwindow.
Can anyone tell me, if it's possible, to change the Function of the F-Buttons?
And is it possible, to turn on the Keyboard Backlight all the time and not for a few Minutes while I'm typing?
    Kind Regards

You can change the FN-key functions by pressing FN + Esc (activates FNLock).

  • Ready to install fresh win 8.1 on new Yoga Pro 2

So, I just got my yoga pro 2 Friday. Can't stand the extra stuff and 7 particians.
I've got a usb stick with a copy of win 8.1 on it. I can boot to it and get the windows installer started ( I stopped at the partiican table)
I got the drivers folder from the D: on the yoga backed up.
Got my win 8.1 pro product key written down.
Don't think I will need any of the lenovo apps.
Nothing else I need, right?  I did actually make a system image of the fresh install on another external drive when I got it, so if i did need to go back, I can.
The windows installer will take care of all partiicans, correct? I'm new to EUFI boot.  I can see that legacy mode is disabled in the bios now.
Thanks for any help. Looking forward to a clean install.  Wish I could have gotten this from a MIcrosoft store instead so I don't have to deal with it.

  • Heat and fan on new MacBook Pro:

I got a new MacBook Pro. This is my second. The first never had this problem.
The new one differs by having a larger hard-drive 750GB and 8GB of memory but
    is otherwise very similar.
But with the is new one, it get very hot on the bottom (below the keyboard) and the
fan keeps running, probably trying to cool it doen.
Is there anything I can do to keep the machine cool (short of leaving it in the refridgerator
overnight)? and can I reduce the fan noise?
    Thanks in advance

The only thing that takes up more than 10% is firefox, which has gone over 50% on occasion.
I like to keep many firefox windows open. But I guess I shouldn't do that.
What is interesting is that if put the computer into sleep mode and then wake it up, it turns off the
    fan for a few minutes.
But something is different between my old 4GB Macbook Pro and this new 8GB one.
It is alot noisier and hotter.

  • Uploading Photoshop CS5 and LR4 to new MacBook Pro

I have LR4 and Photoshop CS5 on my old MacBook Pro. They were installed via a disc. And later I upgraded from LR3 to LR4. I have just bought a new MacBook Pro with no DVD player. I transferred my Adobe files to an external drive and uploaded them onto the new laptop.
    1. Adobe will not acknowledge my serial number or the upgrade serial on LR4
    2. When I open Photoshop I get an Error 6 notice.
Could you throw some light on these two problems please.
Thanks for your help in advance.

When you boot for the first time and complete the Setup Assistant, you will then have several options one of which is to restore from a TM backup. However, using Migration Assistant will probably be faster and will restore all your settings as it will transfer your entire user account.

  • Installing OSX and XP on new Mac Pro

    Hi,
Just buying a new Mac Pro. I will getting it with one 750GB HD supplied direct from Apple on purchase, plus a 150GB WD Raptor, purchased seperately as a boot drive.
Question... when the hardware arrives, what is the procedure for setting up a new boot drive with Mac OSX and Windows XP (under boot camp). Do I put OSX and Windows XP both on the WD Raptor...? Any suggestions for how I should partition that drive...?
What is the physical procedure...? How do I change the boot drive from the 750GB drive on arrival to the 150GB WD Raptor that I fit....? How do I 'uninstall' Mac OSX from the Apple supplied 750GB HD...?
    And any other releveant advice.
    Much appreciated.

    Hi Robbie_DB,
You can install OS X first on your 150GB wd raptor.
restart your mac pro with the installer disk inside the optical and press C to force to start up using installer disk.
Choose language > go to utilities > disk utilities > format the WD drive, and after you finish, go back to installer by quiting disk utility and install your mac os x and select WD drive as destination.
Sometimes it require another restart before mac os can be installed to a new formatted HD.
After you fnished install OS X, go to boot camp page, and follow instruction there.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/
It is a good thing if you update your os x software and hardware firmware to the latest and repair permission after that before going to install boot camp.
And to select which HD you want to start from, open system preference from the Docks, click start up disk, and choose your WD drive, and restart.
As soon as everything run smoothly, you can start from WD drive, open application > utilities > disk utility, and erase / format the original HD supplied by apple f you really want to.
ps: back up any important data first, if any.
    Good Luck.

  • Erase and Reinstall on New Macbook Pro

I'm trying to start over. I have a new Macbook Pro, have had to erase the HD and reinstall OSX, and am trying to reinstall the iLife software prior to going through the Startup Assistant again. After reinstalling OSX, it just restarts and go straight into the Startup. How do I get the Applications Install completed first? The instructions aren't clear.
    Thanks

No, I have a second disc that came with my Mac, but there are no promptings to insert that disc after erase and install. The disc with Mac OS X is retained after erase and install and there is merely a prompt to restart the machine. When I restart, the computer immediately launches into the information collecting mode which lets you configure the machine. I called it the "setup assistant" by mistake, sorry. You know the one I'm talking about... that starts up when you first open your new Mac. It won't let you quit this either, until you're done.
I want to install the 2nd DVD applications (iLife) before I go into the new computer setup because, when I bring information over from my old computer using that process, the iLife applications seem to need to be there for the transfer of certain information or it won't let you proceed. I've tried it twice now! Maybe I can go to the Mac OS X Installer after erase and install and see something I could do that would allow me to switch discs.
As a side note, I'm having a conflict regarding the use of my account name. It won't let me use the same name I did on my old computer's account. But if I change it, it moves my information to a second account other than my administrator account! I don't see why it can't just move my info to the account I'm setting up when it automatically fills in your name based upon your Apple information. Anyway, my information ends up being inaccessible to the administrator account because it's in a different account! I don't want to be logging into two different accounts on my own computer!
Maybe I'm making this harder than it should be somehow. I never thought I'd run into so much trouble by just wanting to bring information over from my old computer! LOL

  • Syncing ipad and iphone to new macbook pro

I have a pre-intel tower mac that the iphone and ipad are currently synced to.
I want to sync them both now to my new macbook pro. I am unsure about syncing in general as I haven't done it myself yet.
I'm a little worried about loosing data, and wondering what happens to the old tower they are currently synced with.. can I not longer sync them to it once they are synced to the MAcbook pro?
    any tips will be helpful.

Connect to the MacBook. It will ask you if you want to sync with the MacBook. It should then ask if you want to save what is on the iPad. Tell it yes, and it should do so. You should have your iPad apps backed up anyway, but I am pretty sure that you do not lose anything by transferring to another machine. The iPad does not care if it was a Mac or PC that it is synced with, it is not in either format. You do need to go and authorize your Macbook on your iTunes account.
Besides there is a step by step instruction on [How to transfer or sync iPad contents to Mac|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_or_sync_iPad_contents_toMac].
Hope it can do you a favor.

  • Keyboard Backlight and Optical jack problems

I installed Vista Home Premium 32Bit through Boot Camp and noticed that the backlight will not turn off as it does in OS X when the brightness is all the way down, and the optical jack light will not shut off.
I saw the update that supposedly fixed the optical problem in the downloads section and tried it. I realized that I needed to upgrade to SP2 when an error came up. But now that I have SP2, the .exe refuses to run. I double-click it and it sits there highlighted but nothing happens.
The backlight issue is very minor to me, but I would like to know, if there is a fix, how to do it.
Is the compatibility of the x64 Vista any better? Or even XP?

Boot Camp 3.1 fixed the jack light and the Backlight shuts off under direct light, just not manually.
