No keyboard & mouse after udev upgrade

Hello,
I've upgraded to udev-158-1 and after reboot the keyboard and mouse (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards … vices/3481) stoped working. Rebooted several times and got the same result. I reverted to the old version and everything is ok. It's also possible that the system was frozen, i haven't tried to ssh it. Any ideeas? Thanks.

    Hey eedge520,
    Thanks for the question. I understand that you are unable to right-click with your mouse after updating. Let’s check your mouse preferences, as you can enable this behavior in System Preferences > Mouse > Point & Click > Secondary Click

  • [SOLVED] startx: no keyboard/mouse after upgrade

    Hello,
    After an upgrade during which X was upgraded to 1.16 the keyboard and mouse stopped working after using startx. When I start X with startx as root the keyboard and mouse work.
    After the upgrade I made a .xinitrc like in the wiki article about xinitrc and I copied /etc/X/xinit/xserverrc to ~/.xserverrc
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hey,
    Thanks for your answer.
    I start X using startx and this .xinitrc in my home directory:
    #!/bin/sh
    #~/.xinitrc
    # Executed by startx (run your windows manager from here
    if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ]; then
    for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/*; do
    [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
    done
    unset f
    fi
    xrdb /merge ~/.Xresources
    setxkbmap de
    # Here awesome is kept as default
    # no va: session=${1: -awesome}
    case $session in
    awesome) exec awesome;;
    fluxbox) exec startfluxbox;;
    # No known session, try to run it as command
    # no va *) exec $1;;
    *) exec awesome;;
    esac
    I created the .xinitrc after this wiki article
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinitrc
    I tried it without the .xserverrc in the home directory and  it is the same. I read that in a forum. But probably it is not necessary because the behaviour is the same...
    Before the upgrade,  I started X using xinit, but now using xinit I get the error :
    (EE) xf86OpenConsole: Cannot open /dev/tty0 (No such file or directory)
    And I read on a forum that I should use startx.
    I'm not running as root. I try to run X as a normal user. When I run it as root it works.
    In the boot messages from systemd journal I see these messages:
    systemd-logind[642]: Failed to connect to system bus: No such file or directory
    systemd-logind[642]: Failed to fully start up daemon: No such file or directory
    systemd-logind[675]Failed to connect to system bus: No such file or directory
    systemd-logind[675]: Failed to fully start up daemon: No such file or directory
    Sorry I don't really know what to look for in the logs...
    I have a nvidia card and I use the proprietary drivers and Bumblebee.

  • [SOLVED] Pcmanfm and Thunar do not show pen drives after udev upgrade

    Hi all,
    I upgraded Arch today and found that my usb pen drive was not showing up in Pcmanfm available for me to mount. I reinstalled Thunar from my cache and found it too could not 'see' the pen drive. I first tried downgrading hal to the previous version, and that did not fix anything.
    I then downgraded udev to the previous version and found the usb drive correctly appearing in both file managers.
    I checked /var/log/daemon.log and found no errors. There was nothing to indicate anything had been mounted before I had downgraded udev.
    Please advise me on anything I should do--is this a bug, should I investigate further, or have I forgotten to configure something new?
    Thanks.
    added: I checked bug tracker and there seems to be a new bug related to mounting of an NTFS drive possibly due to udev. This is a FAT32 pen drive, so I am not sure if it is applicable...
    http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/11675
    added again: rebooting fixed it for me. Thank you everyone.

    I noticed this happening as well after my upgrade yesterday (PCManFM and Nautilus). But then I remembered to ... reboot and everything seems happy again.
    PS: This includes VFAT, ext2 and NTFS formatted flash drives

  • Not responding to keyboard/mouse after windows 10 upgrade

    Hi, I upgraded my home computer yesterday to Windows 10. I came to work today and are trying to use my logmein for some offsite testing. I can connect just fine and see the desktop of my home PC, but no mouse or keyboard activity is responding. Even the "ctrl-alt-delete" function of the LogmeIn client does nothing. Has anyone experienced similar issues? And if so, is there a solution to this? I am running Windows 10 Enterprise x64 both at home and at work, and yesterday it was working fine when connecting from Win 10 Ent. at work to Win 8.1 Ent. at home. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Regards Dan

    I have same problem

  • Z10 BBM keyboard problem after OS upgrade to 10.3.2.556.

    I upgraded my device os to 10.3.2.556 and since then I haven't been able to use the portrait position to chat. When I type, I don't see what i'm typing and can't access the emoticons. And I haven't been able to downgrade the this version. Help please.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community! The most common thing to do after an update that results in issues is to perform an OS reload. Sometimes, the update processes have errors and such...with a reload often curing the issues. The official methods, which will be controlled as to what exact OS versions you are offered:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-Functions-and/How-to-Reload-your-Blackberry10-O...The unofficial methods, which are cleaner, and allow you to choose an OS version that perhaps your carrier (or whoever it is controlling your offers) has been slow to approve:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/Of course, before you start any of this you will want a good backup via LINK, a manual copy of your Device Memory to your PC, and full documentation of your configuration (account credentials, added apps, configurations, etc.). Sometimes, restoring from a backup returns to the device the very corruption one needs to eliminate, and reconfiguring from scratch can resolve that. Good luck and let us know!

  • The keyboard /mouse unresponsive in yosemite on my Mac Air Late 2010

    How do I fix the problem of lack of responsiveness with my keyboard/mouse after installing yosemite on my late 2010 Mac Air?  Losing typing ability in mid sentence!!

    If the following doesn't work, then there is a server error.
    Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    Also see:

    Any suggestions before I bring it into the Apple Store? Is this a known problem? I don't want to be without my computer for a month, so I'd like to try to fix it at home first...

    I have unchecked "Use all F1 etc keys as standard function keys" in keyboard prefs and we are back to normal.
    This has worked.

  • [K8N NEO3-F] Problem with USB keyboard and PS2 mouse after upgrading BIOS

    Hello everyone!
    I have upgraded BIOS from 1.1 to 1.4... I have Sempron 2600 (64bit) so BIOS v.1.1 did not recognise it.
    The motherboard works, but after upgrading I have a small problem with my keyboard and mouse.
    When I use USB keyboard my PS2 mouse doesn't work. When I connect PS2 keyboard mouse works!!!
    Can you tell me what's wrong?
    Thanks, bartull@
    PS. Does BIOS v.1.3 recognise Sempron 64bit? Can you give me a link to it?

    I think that the problem may have been caused by flashing either with liveupdate or with winflash.  I had the problem when i used winflash correctly (shutting down all programs, checking all the boxes to clear bootblock and cmos) but had usb keyboard connected during flash.  My suggestion is to reflash with floppy to last bios version that worked using only ps2 mouse and keyboard with the following instructions:
    DOS floppy flash shall be performed with :
    awfl833d.exe w7030nms.180 /py /sn /wb /cc /cd /cp /f /e
    (Replace biosfilename with appropriate version for Neo1/neo2 etc , switches remain the same )
    After flash is complete :
    TURN OFF PSU (don't restart) wait 15 seconds
    Turn on again , press the power button .
    Enter BIOS and load optimized defaults (NO OTHER CHANGES) , save + exit
    Boot the system again with the floppy in the drive to let the DMI pool build and update itself .
    If that works, then reflash to the bios you tried before with the same procedure.  Once you have stable system with ps2 keyboard and mouse working, re-enter bios and enable usb and keyboard support as a lot of bios' have it disabled by default for some strange reason.
    Good luck.

  • Keyboard issues after upgrading to Leopard

    Seems there's been quite a bit of discussion about this topic already but it's been confined to laptops and I haven't seen a solution yet. I'm seeing the same problems on a desktop computer using either a wireless or USB keyboard.
    After upgrading to Leopard, my keyboard would occasionally stop responding to keystrokes. I have seen this happen on both an Apple USB keyboard and my Logitech wireless keyboard. With either keyboard, the letter and number keys would stop responding but keys like the CapsLock and Delete keys would still work. I have seen this happen when using Mac Office 2004 (Excel and Word) and Safari. With Excel, when the keyboard stops responding, if I click on a different cell, the keyboard comes back. I did update to 10.5.2 and I do have the latest version of the Logitech software but the problems still persist.
    Strangely, I have only seen this happen on my MacPro but NOT my MacBook. There is a difference on how each machine was upgraded to Leopard though. On my MacBook, I did a clean install of Leopard on a new hard drive and then migrated my docs and apps from the old drive. On my Mac Pro, I did an upgrade installation over Tiger. Fortunately, I cloned my hard drive prior to installing Leopard so going back is an option and so is doing a clean install followed by a migration which is what I did on my MacBook.
    Is there a fix for the keyboard problems? Am I going to have to downgrade back to Tiger?

    Thanks for posting this. I thought I was alone in the universe. I have the problem with my mini, which came with Leopard installed. The USB keyboard will stop working in Word or Entourage ('04) and I have to close and reopen the document to get the keyboard going again. Thankfully, my mouse still works when this happens, so I can use it to close and save.
    It seems to sometimes be triggered when I switch between applications, but I haven't been able to replicate it consistently. It is particularly bad when using find in Word. The find window will go dead and I have to close it and reopen it to do another search. (Though interestingly, I don't have to close the Word doc.)
    It's irritating.

  • T410 - Keyboard problems after Windows 8.1 upgrade

    Hi to all!
    Recently i'm facing huge problems with the keyboard of my T410.
    The Laptop shuts down when I press "Alt Gr", if I press shutdown - the screen spins several times before shutting down, if I use the arrow-keys the screen also flips, the normal letter-keys won't work at all. Every pressed Button makes a little beepsound.
    The scrolling-funktion on the touchpad doesnt work either.
    Using an USB-Keyboard / Mouse, I have no problems at all.
    I have installed the latest drivers and bios-update.
    This problem is there after I upgraded windows 8 to windows 8.1. All windows-updates have been made.
    Do you have any tips to use my Laptop as a laptop again? At the moment I have a small desktop PC as the laptop won't work without usb-keyboard and muse.
    I looking forward to your replies. Best regards

    I don't no what in-place means but I installed the Upgrade to 8.1 via the Windosw Store on a running Windows8 system.
    I just re-ran System Update in the latest version, checked windows updates, checked the drivers via the lenovo support page manually, latest bios...but still doesnt work.
    In the Windows 8.1 Tested System List from the lenovo homepage which I just found is the T410 not listed. So I assume it could be a compatibility problem.
    Back to Win8?

  • MacBookPro Upgrade to 10.4.10 - Keyboard/Mouse/Touchpad Not reconized

    Hi all-
    I have a very strange problem with my MBP. I've just come back from Europe, so I decided to upgrade my system to 10.4.10 and the security upgrade from june/july (I don't really remember).
    The installation went smoothly, except ONE BIIIIG problem.
    After the reboot, my OS doesn't reconize anymore my Keyboard/touchpad or even my external mouse. In fact, it seems that nothing is powered anymore. The caps lock button doesn't light.
    I tried to boot on the backup DVD and repair autorization. There my keyboard and my mouse are working.
    I'm using now my Vista bootcamp partition. Keyboard/mouse and touchpad working perfectly.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my work laptop (it's why I waited so long to upgrade, to be sure).

    I am experiencing a Bluetooth linking problem with my Titanium PB, using a D-Link DB-120 adapter, and my Logitech MX900 mouse. Oddly enough, the Logitech Cordless Elite keyboard works fine with my system. Only the mouse fails to link (it pairs just fine). Like other people on this forum, the linking problem developed in the upgrade from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4.
    The mouse cannot link automatically. I have that sometimes unplugging the D-Link adapter causes the mouse to automatically link. Also, toggling discoverable off->on->off causes the mouse to link. Also, using the keyboard first will cause auto linking, and the mouse follows.
    Trashing preferences, or leaving "discoverable" in a particular state has no effect on the linking problem. Rather, a state change in "discoverable" seems to initiate linking. This may a caused by a coding bug at Apple, since nothing else has changed. Everything worked as expected under 10.4.3.
    Hopefully Apple with fix this linking problem, and Logitech will market a 100% Apple compatible keyboard soon. Good gracious - their bluetooth keyboards are already 95% compatible - is the extra 5% that costly?

    Cannot find backslash (\) on German keyboard anymore after upgrading to OS 10.6 from OS 10.5. It used to be at Alt-ß. Anyone can help please ?

    Never mind. Found it in an old post. It is mapped at Shift-Alt-7, really weird.
