No lead-in clicks when recording

I have a song that I'm trying to add a guitar to. I go to the start of the song and and start recording (* key). I don't hear any lean-in clicks. This used to work. I'm using LE8 on Tiger. Is there a setting to enable/disable this?
Thanks.

Project Settings -> Metronome to set 'Click when recording - only during count in' and Project Settings -> Recording to specify number of bars. You can also control-click on the record button, and select recording settings to get to the project settings.
Or press option *

  • How to show mouse clicks when recording screen with quicktime?

How can i show the mouse click when i record the screen using quicktime player?

Why? What program feature do you intend to offer, by knowing what a user clicks on (besides the application itself).Hi, well what I have to do is to start the application minimized in the system tray. Then the application must be listening for crtl+shift+left click in any part of the desktop or an opened application, when that happens, I have to show a window asking if the user want to take a screenshot starting in the x,y point he clicked, once done, I have to take an screenshot...so on.
How can I do that? Can anybody give me a hint? Thanks in advance.

  • Intermittent clicking when recording guitar - not metronome

I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and GB 09.  When I record my electric guitar, I'm hearing occasional clicking sounds which are also heard on the recording.  Not the metronome.  It's off.  I've lowered the input gain both in preferences and the EMU 404 to see if that helped but it didn't.  I have their latest drivers installed.  The EMU 404 is an old input device and is no longer supported.  I'm willing to buy a more modern input device if that's necessary.  I'm hoping someone knows a solution.  I've tried different guitars and guitar cable, that didn't help either.

Thanks HangTime. Since Creative Technologies has indicated they no longer support the EMU 0404 and nobody is fixing the drivers, I looked at the link you sent.  I do have a question.  It looks like lots of people like the Tascam US-100.  Attractive, since no drivers are involved and simplicity.  That device will certainly take care of my guitar and mic needs.  However, it won't take my midi keyboard device.  Can combine a standard midi imput device along with the US-100 or do I need to buy a recording interface that has midi and audio capabilities in a single unit?

  • Line IN clicking when recording?!

    Hi there,
I went to record some guitar playing today to find that my Mac has a clicking sound it records when anything is plugged in to it, I tried different devices and cables, and the clicking persists. It's not static (or doesnt sound like normal static), nor is it the metronome recording itself as I have used several programs to record with.
Is it a hardware issue with my Mac? pleeease help :'(
    Thanks

    BRILLIANT support guys, thanks. [/sarcasm]

  • Minimising Key Clicks When Recording

When I record the audio for a slide
I click on the red record button, and this brings up a window.
    Next I press the  record.
I make the recording and then click on stop
    Then I click on Save
The a window pops up to ask "Do you want to extend the display time to n seconds to match the new audio?" - I always click on Yes
Then I have to click on the Close button to close the recording window.
Is there anyway to stop Captivate asking me if I want to extend the time (step 5) and just have that happen automatically and also have the window close on save without me having to close it, (step 6)
When you are doing a large number of short slides these extra key depressions are tedious.

    Accepted.
No I have never tried recording several slides. Everything I am teaching is one step at a time per slide. The audio per slide works well and requires little post editing.   The sound quality via the slide recorder is not great so I post-process each slide audio in Audition.    I used to do the audios in Audition the way you mention and then import them to each slide but that was too slow.
Now I export all the audios in one go, then click one key to run a batch job on them in Audition to improve the audio and then in one operation automatically re-attach them to the original slides.    It's very streamlined apart from the extra key clicks that spoil it (and are the subject of my original post here). They prevent it becoming  super-fast.

  • Mysterious clicks when recording audio.

Just the odd click and pop that should not be there. What are the possible causes? I have the highest spec iMac I could get (January 2013) so I'm suprised this is happening.

Recording delay should be set to zero unless you're done the loopback test and it's required to get the timing correct. Record Delay is to compensate for audio drivers that don't correctly report timing/location information to that system. However, that should cause the clicks you're experiencing.
Would you try the I/O buffer at 64 or 128 and see if it changes the click situation, I know you said it was set to 1024 but that's not a good test.
Are you using any other digital equipment with the M/Box, s/pdif...etc
My only comment regarding Avid is they make pretty bad core audio drivers, you can never run them reliably with the same settings you would use on drivers from MOTU or RME. That said, don't seem like you should be getting noise with a new system, so... no, I'm sure it's not the processor struggling.

  • Audigy 2 ZS clicks when record

    Hello everyone.
I could use a little help. A while ago, I built a system, and included the Audigy 2 ZS. I only have just gotten around to trying to record with it, up until now it has all been play back.
So once I got everything working satisfactory, I noticed a clicking and/or popping sound present only in the recorded sound. Trying to fix this, I updated my drivers, and maximised my audio buffer. Now the clicking has improved, about 50%, but it is still there.
I did read the FAQ about the distortion in play back, but I assumed that because this is recording and not play back, that maybe the solution would be different. All apologies if I was wrong.
I'm using Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 to do my recording.
Can anyone offer any help? Thank you.

    *Bump*
Can anyone offer any assistance? Would pre-amping help at all? Is it just the chipset, or is there something I can do about this?

I want to add Narration to my movies. I've watched the Elements Guided Help for Narration, and closely followed their procedure. But when I click the RECORD tab, I get an error message. "Your current audio hardware selection dos not have any input channels." My question, therefore: Do I need to buy an external microphone? I have an HP Pavilion Laptop, running WIndows 8.1. I thought I had a built-in microphone. But ,maybe not. Please help. Also, WHAT KIND of microphone - exactly - should I buy? Thanks for your help.

Go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware and ASIO tab and click on it.
Under the Input tab, make sure that you have your microphone selected.
Please let us know the outcome.

  • Click turns off when recording

Got a very irritating problem! I don't think I'm just missing something very simple, but maybe someone could help...
When I go to record, I get the 1 bar count in, but the click turns off while actually recording. "Click while recording" box is checked, so I'm not sure what is stopping it? As you can imagine, it's very frustrating!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • Saffire clicking sound when recording

I am having a problem with my Saffire. I just got it in today.
I set it up, connected my mic, played around with it to learn the controls, etc. So I load Logic Pro 7.2, and I record on track 1. I then listened to the track playback in my headphones connected to the Saffire. So no problems recording on track 1.
Having only one mic connected to my saffire, I go to track 2, and set it for input 1. I start to record track 2, and I hear a clicking sound. The audio is recorded to track 2, but the entire time recording, I hear this click sound that wasn't there when I was recording track 1.
I thought I maybe did something wrong, so I started a new song. Recorded on track 1 with no problems. Then went to record track 2, I hear the clicking sound during the recording. Playing back both tracks recorded, there is no clicking sound.
Anyone know why this is so? I'm using a MacBook 2.0GHz Core Duo, 2GB ram, recording on the internal drive. I downloaed the universal binary versions of the plugins and software for the saffire, and have the latest firmware. Running the latest version of Mac OS.
Also, when I'm in the saffire control app, I can't choose Preferences from the menu. It's grayed out. Is this normal?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

It's rythmic clickin.. sounds like a metronome, but I don't have one playing. I even deleted the click track. Also, I created a new song.. and I hear the clicking even recording the first track if I have the playback in my headphones. So if I have my Saffire control panel set to TRACK, I hear the clicking when I'm recording to Logic.
I didn't change the I/O buffer size, I'll have to check to see what it's on.

  • Creating new tracks when recording in Cycle (loop) mode

I'm having an issue when recording in cycle mode.. I'm able to record (in seperate tracks) in cycle mode. however I can only play the first take (first track) I recorded, however all the subsequent tracks that were recorded do not play. Even when I try 'soloing' them they still don't play. You can see in the arrange window that audio data was recorded on those tracks however they have a "faded" effect to them. They're also not muted. Am I missing a setting?

The issue you describe when recording in cycle mode was a huge frustration for me until I discovered that I was not aware of a simple principle that made all of the difference... I am wondering if the following explanation may be part of the problem that you are experiencing.
The principle is that muting a region, muting a track, and muting an audio channel are three distinct and separate functions. Until I got my head around that principle, I continued experiencing the same frustration that you are having with recording in cycle mode.
Recording in cycle mode results in muting the regions below the last take at the top. When trying to unmute the "tracks" below the top region to listen to the other takes, hitting the mute button results in ALL of the "tracks" either being muted or unmuted, yet the separate regions below are still muted!
The key is to unmute the REGION that you want to listen to (and not the track or the channel). The way to do this is to hit the escape key to bring up a local tool box menu wherever your cursor is... then click on the mute tool which changes the cursor into a mute tool, then click on whatever regions you want to unmute...
    Hopefully the above will help.

  • Problem when recording from the AUX phono output using creative x-fi elite

Hello everyone?Hopefully someone will be able to help me out here, as I've tried everything, however nothing seems to work. I am using the x-fi elite pro on a windows vista ultimate PC. When recording analogue material, from a tape Dec, for instance, I am using the creative audio console which accompanies the x-fi elite pro. I am using the aux phono input on the back of the box, and everything has gone smoothly until a few days ago. When trying to record from my tape Dec this last week, I suddenly noticed that the sound was very distauted in the left channel. Right channel was fine.Of course the first thing I checked was the level, and this was absolutely fine too, both channels were set to around 50% in the sound-options control-panel. I then checked the cable and then tried it on other equipment as well, and everything was also fine here. I then re-connected it to the audio consul, but got the same results. Fine sounding audio in the right channel, but distauted in the left. I then tryed re-installing the newest vista-driver to see if this would solve my problem, however it didn't. Now I've only got audio in the right channel, but no audio at all in the left. Has somebody inhere experienced anything simurlar, and if yes, can you please tell me what could be wrong??All the best from Allan

On certain mobo/graphics card set ups and some sound cards there is an issue with bus latency. In short while playing back audio you will hear a frequent crackling of the audio. That is not the same as the slight click the Elite pro makes when changing modes. It has been a Creative issue for many years but is only present with certain combinations of hardware. I have experienced that issue myself but several years ago. My current Elite Pro/PC set up does not have this issue.
