No license when the laptop is in battery operation

Hello
I have got a problem with the new license since LabVIEW 8.0. I activated the license when the laptop was in mains operation. When I try to start LabVIEW when the laptop is in battery operation, there is an error because of changed hardware. When I put in the power cord and restart LabVIEW, LabVIEW starts normally. Does anybody else know this problem? How can i start LabVIEW when there is no power outlet?
My laptop is from HP, the model Compaq nc8430. The processor is an Intel Centrino Duo.
Thanks

Hello
The reason you are receiving this message is that the computer ID used to
generate an activation code for LabVIEW is based, in part, on your ethernet
card's MAC address. It sounds like when you change to battery mode that Windows
is reporting a different MAC address to the license manager.
I can generate a computer ID for you based on your hard drive's disk volume
serial number which you could use to activate LabVIEW again. This would prevent
this issue happening again in the future (well at least until you changed your
hard drive but I guess you'd be reinstalling LabVIEW at that point anyway).
In order to get that computer ID to you I need to know what your Volume Serial
Number is, this is how to get that:
1. Open a command prompt. Go to Start»Run
2. Type "cmd" (without the quotes) and click OK
3. At the command prompt, type "C:" (without the quotes) to change
the active directory to your C: drive
4. Type "vol" (without the quotes) to get your Volume Serial Number.
Once I get that from you with your Labview Development System (Base, Full,
Professional). I will reply with a computer ID number you can use to activate
LabVIEW at http://ni.com/activate/
Besrt regards,

  • Can not start X when the laptop boots from battery

    Hi,
I have just found out recently that X doesn't start when i boot my laptop from battery. After the daemons are run, X is started and then shows me a blank black screen. Ctrl-Alt-Del or Ctrl-Alt-Backspace don't work. And i can't change tty like Ctrl-Alt-F1 to escape to the console. It just hangs.
When power cable is plugged then the laptop works just fine. Even if i pull the cable out afterwards, it continues working on battery mode.
What can be the reason ? Has anyone the same problem ?

You need to install/register the advanced math addon.  I can't remember the exact name of the toolkit.  It is included if you have the developer suite.

  • ITouch only connects to Wi-Fi conflicts when the laptop is connected

When the laptop is connected to the WLAN the iTouch connects and browses with no problem at all. Problem is that when the laptop is NOT on oe NOT connected the iTouch WILL see the wifi signal but refuses to connect. this is obviously a major pain. My friends iPhone finds and connects to the home network without issues - ie regardless of whether the laptop is on or off.
can anyone suggest a remedy? My iTouch is only 24hrs old!
    thanks in advance, DM

Here's what's happening in my case. I have a siemens se567 router. I have a LAN with three computers using it. It's encrypted WEP64 bit. Everything is working fine except the new itouch. It connects, shows a strong signal, but won't allow the browser to connect to the internet. It do not have numbers under the DNS or the router. The Apple people I have spoken to tell me it's the router, and to talk to my adsl provider. The adsl provider tells me it's an apple software problem, they can't help. I can connect to any unencrypted wireless network. I can't even manually put in the router numbers. I have unplugged the router several times, but this doesn't help. I'll try your suggestion for "other" and see if that works. Thanks.

    ronicr76,
First it would be helpful if you post the exact model, year and OS version you have.
    > The LED light is on but only when the laptop is closed<
So that light is the sleep indicator and tells us that the laptop is going to sleep when you close the lid. That would be normal behavior so the machine is still working. Possibly you're experiencing a backlight failure. With the machine supposedly "on" use a flashlight to carefully examine the screen. Do you see the desktop? Yes? machine is still running and something is wrong with the backlight.
You should immediately backup your computer or at the very least pull vital files off. With the computer hooked to another Mac (The way this is done depends on the exact MacBook, E.g.FireWire 800 to FireWire 800.) Then you restart the computer and hold the "t" key down. This puts your MacBook into "target mode":

Once your files are off try an SMC reset:

Are you able to get the backlight back on by opening and closing the display? Yes? Broken backlight cable refer to qualified service place. Even if it doesn't come on and you can still see the desktop with a flashlight it is still probably the backlight. Could be the a backlight problem also.

  • How do you deactivate a license when the hard drive crashes?

How do you deactivate a license on a machine when the hard drive crashes?

My backup is done with Shadow Protect, which as well as providing incremental backups - it adds any changes to the back up every 18 minutes - it also allows you to keep an image of your boot drive.  This image has t be accompanied with a bootable CD, so if your boot drive crashes, you can be up and running again in minutes.  I've never needed that feature, but I have lost two data drives in the last two years, and Shadow Protect came to the rescue both times.  One of thos drives was have a raid0 with many hundreds of hours of video editing.  It would have been a huge disaster to have lost that.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro fan go into overdrive when the laptop is not even warm?

The fan on my MacBook Pro is going into overdrive without any form of heat coming from the laptop. It causes the computer to be really slow as though there's a delay on the cursor, then makes it crash. It also disconnects me from the internet and won't reconnect without a restart. Had this trouble for a few months but it stopped for roughly four months without giving any clue as to what I had done to stop it, but has now restarted again out of nowhere.
I have tried an SMC reset countless times and it makes no difference. Operating system is up to date.

Either on Microsoft word or on FB and maybe some online editiing.. I have installed Istat and waiting for it to occur again so i can measure the heat and CPU usage.. any idea as to why this is happening??

  • How can I know when the laptop was last used?

I left my laptop at the office, which is also my parents' house over the weekend. How can I know if someone else had used it while I was gone? Is there a log somewhere I can read or check?

  • Ipod classic 80GB wont open when the charger is disconnected - battery ?

my ipod doesnt open if i removed it from the charger whats wrong help me out guys thanks

    What do you mean "Open"??
If you mean that it won't turn on or show you the list, I would definatley say that the battery is shot.
Otherwise, please explain because the iPod is normally a contained device and won't open (physically)

  • Tecra A9 - external Monitor shows stripes when using the Laptop pluged.

    Hello
I've heard about at least 3 Tecras A9 witch produces stripes on the external Monitor only when the Laptop is pluged. When using the Laptop with the battery, the Monitor works just fine. they tried to divide the cables of the Monitor and the power supply as far as possible, but still the same problem. When using the Laptop with a non-toshiba-AC Adaptor, the external Monitor is working fine.

    Hello
In my opinion you should visit nearest authorized Toshiba service provider. They can connect your Tecra to external monitors and test it. If the result is the same I am pretty sure you will get AC adapter replacement for free.
Do not wait and discuss for days here. Contact them and I hope they will help you.

  • How to undo hybernate mode in laptop when the lid is laid down?

How to undo the default  hybernate mode when the laptop is closed? It is neede to work with external monitor, keyboard and mouse, keeping the laptop shut.

Hello,in Windows 8.1 you should go to Control Panel, then to Power Options and there should be something like "Require a password on wakeup". There you can choose the action, that should be taken after closing the lid.

  • T530 multiple display configuration lead to errors when closing the laptop

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo T530 2429CTT and I am having some trouble when trying to set up my multiple display configuration with a Lenovo ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3.
I have an external Samsung LCD monitor which is connected to the Mini Dock via DisplayPort.
I am running Win 7 Prof.
The problem I see is with an application which uses DirectX. The display looks fine in the following configuration:
    - Laptop open
    - External Samsung LCD Monitor on
    - Display cloned so that both devices show my desktop
The issues appear when I close the laptop. I do this because in my office I only work with the external monitor so I don't need the internal display of the laptop at that moment.
When I close the laptop the following happens:
The external display gets dark for some seconds. It comes up again, gets dark and after a while (maybe 10 sec) it stays active. Sometimes I see a notification that the color scheme has changed to Win 7 basic.
Everything seems to be fine now but when looking at the DirectX based display of my application I have some problems for example with the refresh (the display looks very weird).
BTW: The laptop has an internal and an external graphic card (Internal: Intel HD 4000, External: NVIDIA NVS 5400M).
So it seems as when the laptop gets closed, the internal graphics will be turned off. Due to this the display on the external monitor also changes the settings of the graphhic card (maybe it gets turned in an energy saver state).
I was looking at many of the NVIDIA settings without any success so hopefully somebody in this forum has an idea what is happening there.
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi,
I'm trying to buy the exact same configuration.
although i cannot find this 2429CTT on lenovo site anywhere, is available for selling on a known european supplier.
and my propose is to have 2 Monitors connected, so I'll follow this inquire very closely and hold my order until then.
do you have any update on it?
just by curiosity, what about the rest? how does the PC feels to you? everything else is working?
    thanks

  • MacBook pro will not charge even when the charger is plugged in and working

So this is a strange one.
I have been using my MacBook pro for a lot of film editing and motion graphics. Recently, I noticed that my battery kept going down, even when charging. I thought nothing on it and kept using it. After around 4 hours, the battery went from 90% to 23% WHILE plugged in. This got me nervous. When I plug in the MagSafe charger, the light comes on and I get the "charging" symbol in my toolbar. The light turns orange and then, after a few minutes, the power starts to go down instead of up.
I have had this laptop since Christmas 2012 and this has never happened before. The laptop does charge, but only when I am running no application, when the screen is shut or when the laptop is powered off. Bear in mind that right now, I am on Firefox, that is the only application open, yet the charge is still going down. I assumed it was because I was using Premiere CS6, After Effects CS6 and Cinema4D, but now even when they are not open, the batter will not charge when I am using the laptop.
What is going on? Is in the charger? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am starting to stress!
    Thank you everyone for reading,
    -Rory Campbell
UPDATE: I am currently only running Firefox and Finder. Now the laptop is charging as usual. However the second I open up Premiere, After Effects etc, it goes down. I have no idea what is going on!

Try resetting the PRAM and SMC. If you don't know how to, don't worry. They're very easy to reset. Just google how to do it. If that doesn't work, the only thing I would suggest is to take both the laptop and the charger to your local genius bar to have them examined. If it's less than a year old, apple should replace whatever is wrong with it as long as it was a factory defect.
