No lights=cord or adapter probl

I couldn't find answer on product board or FAQ. My model SB0300 quit working. No lights. I don't know if the adapter cord or adapter is bad or if the unit is bad. Any ideas where to buy a new adapter/cord? Or how to know if the unit itself is bad? thank you very much.

Sounds like the AC adapter connector on the laptop where the adapter's plug is inserted has gone bad. Motherboard would need to be replaced or fixed if it turns out to be the case.

  • After resetting the SMC, my Macbook is dead, doesn't charge and doesn't boot and I have no light on the adapter cord.

    My Macbook pro wouldn't start (no screen activity).
    So, I did a PRAM but it made noises like 3 short sounds then 3 long sounds or something like that (I never heard sounds like that coming from my macbook and it was so weird and I just can't really and exactly remember the sounds).
    Because of those sounds, I read on the Internet that I had to reset the SMC, which I did perfectly according the the steps described on the Apple Support Page (I really and slowly followed the steps perfectly).
    Now, instead of those sounds, I do not have anything at all : no light on the adapter cord, no sound at all, no activity, no starting sound, no screen activity, the battery more than half full is not charging at all anymore....it's like the SMC killed my computer.
    My Macbook is dead. I tried repeating the SMC steps one by one many times without success. Since it was not working, afterwards, I even tried the steps in an other order (I saw that on another website) but without success.
    Can somebody help me ?

    I have never heard of SMC causing anything like what you are experiencing ever. I suspect that while you were doing the SMC that you Mac suffered a catistrophic failure. Hence my suggestion to take to Apple for repair.
    If you want to keep messing with it that is your call. I am done here.

    My 30 pin dice silverline ipod kit in my car worked fine with my old iphone.  it charged and played audio.  I bought both 30 pin to lighting (cable and adapter) from Apple store but it does not charge.  It only play audio.  I have verified that both adapter and cable are working fine.  Is there anything to fix this?

    Apple sells a 30 pin to lightning pin adapter - you can find it on the Apple on;line store - or Amazon sell 3rd party one - but if it didnt works with your 4S which also has a 30 pin input - there may be something else wrong

  • How do I go about getting a replacement lighting cord?

    I bought my Iphone 5 towards the end of the last year brand new. My lighting cord I recieved with it only lasted maybe about a month and then it stopped charging completley. The cord never moved from my desk and I know how to handle cords, no water, nothing, its just simply a junk cord. I went and bought a Walmart offbrand cord for cheaper and it has lasted me for a few months now, tell me how that works. I've asked before on here and someone said just simply make a appointment with the local genius bar, yea if only everyone lived near a genius bar. Cant I just get one sent to me, or is Apple to money hungry for that, thats what I been figuring out the last few months. Everybody says Apple is a love/hate relationship, I see why now. Never a legit answer, never legit help, always more more more, MONEY! Its a $30 cord that probably cost $1 for you guys to make, cant you keep your customers Happy?

    If you don't live near an Apple Store, you can call AppleCare to get an exchange over the phone. The phone number will depend on which country you are in.

    I have 3 lighting cords in my home and 2 of them are starting to break at the device end of the cord at the exact same spot.   What does apple do about this problem?  I'm looking to have them replaced, will this happen?

    Bring the cords to your local Apple store for evaluation.  If they are deemed to be defective and the damage is not due to user abuse, then they will be replaced.

    I have been trying to plug in my lighting cord into my iPhone 5 and will not charge no matter what I have tried which has lead me to believe that it is the cord that is faulty.  What are some ways that I could tell that it is the cord.

    Use the lightning connector on another device to see if it works there.  Use a different cord on your iPhone 5 to see if that works.
    If you live near an Apple Retail store, take both in, they will likely test and let you know which (if either) is not working properly.  And, you will be at the place where you can get a replacement.  If your iPhone is still under warranty, so is the cable that came with it.

  • My ipad with retina display won't charge after ios7. I have purchased a new cord and adapter but it won't charge at all or even recognize that it's plugged in most of the time. Help!!

    My iPad is less than a year old, still under the one year limited warranty, though since I don't know the exact problem, I don't know if my problem is covered. I have spoken to AppleCare agents 3 times, during all of which my conversation was cut off. In my last conversation I was told to do a complete reset, which I have now done. Problem is, I am now stuck on the set-up screen, as I cannot get above a 2% charge, meaning that my ipad cuts off long before I'm able to do a restore using iTunes, iCloud or even set it up as a new device. So, basically, I now have a $600 coaster... and I'm not happy about that. Especially since I'm nowhere near an Apple Store. I also bought the iPad at Wal-Mart, which I guess was a mistake, because once 30 days have passed, they couldn't care less about helping me. What do I do now? And please, don't throw a bunch of technical jargon at me.. I won't understand it and it'll just frustrate us both if I try. Thanks!
    p.s. I'm not 100% sure what OS it currently has, though I do believe I was able to update it to 7.0.3 or possibly 7.0.4 through iTunes, though I can't check it now.
    p.p.s. I have always used the charging cord and wall adapter that came with the device to charge it. When this problem first occurred, I also purchased new, exact replicas of both of these, which, obviously, made no difference.

    That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
    So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
    But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • HT1349 repair power cord and adapter

    Hi.  I have three power cord/adapters for my MacBook Pro at different locations.   What I am finding is that where the smaller cord comes out of the adapter to the computer, the wires are coming uncovered and it looks like the connection may be broken.   Is there a way in which these cords can be repaired rather than having to buy additional ones at $79.00 each? 

    apple doesn't repair them, they replace them.  if they are less than 1 yr old they are covered under warranty.  if they are older, look for refurbished ones online, such as from macsales.com.

  • Best corded headset/adapter to use?

    My friend has the Incredible and we are trying to locate a corded headset for her. She ordered this headset and this adapter. When plugged in (and the adapter/phone/headset connections were all tight and secure) she could hear me, but there was silence for me. I think it may have to do with the number of bands on the adapter, but I'm not sure. I found this other adapter on Amazon that may work, but of course, no guarantees. Any suggestions from the community? We talk for hours from Indiana to California, so she needed something that wouldn't drain juice and would be comfortable to wear. Thanks for any and all help. 

    On the MacBook, the line-in port is just that--line-in. If you want to use a mic with that port, you'd need something in-between to amplify the incoming sound.
    I've never used any headsets with my Mac. I do use headphones if I'm doing any voice chatting so I don't have to worry about any other noises from my speakers interfering with our chat.

  • PLANTRONICS - Corded headset adapter?

    I have been using for the past three phones the corded ( Plantronics M170 Mobile Convertible Headset ) with a single ear piece and boom microphone. It works great for both cordless home phones and my previous Motorola mobile phones.
    I know that there is an adapter for those of you with expensive earbuds that will give you a microphone.
    I know there are expensive ( quality ) bluetooth headsets.
    But what I like about the corded headset is that when I need it and pull it out of the center armrest of my car, it's always ready, no recharging needed.
    Is there an adapter for MONO ear piece and the microphone, or does someone know what the PIN-OUT is on the plug so I can make an adapter?

    You might also just save yourself a lot of trouble and visit your local Apple store. They sell a Plantronics corded headset with Mono ear piece and boom style microphone that already has the 3.5 mm jack that is in the iphone. The box even has the iphone compatible symbol on it. No adaptor necessary! And it is only about $30.

  • Flicking light on power adapter

    The light on my power adapter flickers between green and off (not amber) and whilst its doing this, it won't charge.
    Over the last few days also, my battery has gone from 100% at full charge to 97% at full charge (its done 31 cycles and the full charge capacity is 4809, although I don't really understand what all that means!). It also tells me silly things, for example, it just told me I have 11.11 mins remaining on my battery!
    I've tried cleaning the contacts to see if that helps but it doesn't really.
    Its the 2nd power adapter I have had since having the macbook in August, and I don't really know what to do. I live over a 200 mile round trip from an apple store so that isn't a realsitic option to take it somewhere. I don't have applecare, and so I feel on my own in solving this!
    Hoping someone will take pity on me and help!

    Have you calibrated your battery lately?
    Have you done the battery update? Apple: About Battery Update 1.2.
    You should reset the SMC (System Management Controller).

  • Lighting to HDMI Adapter Not Working

    I am using an Apple Lightning to HDMI AV adpater (Model A1438, Firmware 7.0.0 {11A7451}, Harware 1.0.0) with an iPhone 5 (MD655LL/A) and iOS 7.0.4 (11B554a). With two different adapters (same version) we seeming to have suddenly lost the ability to mirror using these adapters. Having been able to mirror since the recent iOS update we are puzzled. Any ideas on why this would be happening?

    I don't have the same ThinkPad as you (I have a T410 with discrete graphics), but I DO have the same Monoprice DisplayPort to DVI adapter, and I can confirm that it does work, when connected via a DVI cable to a Viewsonic LCD monitor.  I did notice that, when the monitor goes into power-saving/sleep mode, the laptop won't recognize it when the laptop resumes from sleep.  I had to toggle the monitor power swtich off/on, and then select it with the laptop's Fn-F7 hotkey (the laptop utility calls it a "projector").  So, you might have to fiddle with that.
    By the way, my 19-inch Viewsonic LCD shows just how crummy the ThinkPad's LCD is, by comparison.  The image via DisplayPort/DVI is fantastic.  The NVIDIA control panel confirms that the ThinkPad<-->dongle<-->DVI cable<-->monitor connection supports HDCP, by the way, so it'll play protected content.
    When I get around to it, I will also try plugging the ThinkPad into my TV via the similar MonoPrice HDMI / DisplayPort dongle.

  • Apple lighting to 30pin adapter

    I Brought a apple lightning to 30pin cable to connect my iPhone 5 with latest iOS to my car. The car has a ford Y cable with 3.5mm and USB one and and the 30pin dock connector on the other.
    when I use this with the apple cable the phone charges but music (using music app) still comes from the iPhone. Nothing is coming out of the 3.5mm cable. The ford cable. Tried it with a iPhone 4s to make sure the ford y cable works and it does audio and charge. Whu can't I get audio using the apple converter cable?

    Thanks I tried it just now with a cheap ebay special 30pin Y cable and it works!  Very odd, maybe the Ford one is wired differently.
