No loading after special character in title
Ah, woe is me! I put in some serious time on a slide show/video DVD for my grandma and when I saved it, the title (in German) included a special character, namely umlauts.
I resaved the document without umlauts however when I attempt to open the project (even within applications itself) it freezes at 'project loading" and will not go further. I am able to see my work when I click on the map button - however once I try to work on my DVD - iDVD closes.
I have tried to save as 'disc image" and received this error:
"There were warnings during the project validation. It is recommended to fix these problems before burning the project."
I clicked 'continue to burn' hoping the errors will become more apparent. The burning continues until 'process slideshows' then it simply closes itself.
Any thoughts?

welcome Meonacake to the boards...
I'm living in that part of the planet, where those funny ¨ are widely in use...
just made a test, to be a 100% sure:
no, umlauts in titles or project-names have no effect on 'freezing' ...
so, probably other reasons...
* the video comes from iMovie?
* pics for slideshow are what format and what resolution...?
* do you use any music? codec? iTS purchased...?
* .. plus a 'funny' one: add any music to your slideshow...
if you don't want any audio on the pics, use any audio-processor (Garageband, Audacity, Logic...) to create a few secs of 'nil', silence.. drop that .aiff into the corresponding zone in iDVD's slideshow dialog ...

Special character in title property of file in KM
Hi Friends,
In KM, I have uploaded some german,spanish files. When I set title with special character It shows square characters. If I write unicode, I displays unicode as it is..
So Can anybody help me in this case?Hi

It seems that SharePoint will allow the Title of the discussion board to remain with the special characters, but the actual URL will not be allowed and will strip them from the final URL. SharePoint Manager easily shows this, btw.
So, there are probably many different ways to get what you are looking for, but one way could be to have a Linq query look for all Discussion Boards on a given site and then return the Title and the DefaultViewUrl, which the latter could then be prefixed by
the SPWeb.Url to give you something like "Testing? , /" for the title and http://mysite/Lists/Testing/AllItems.aspx (assuming
that is the actual default view) which you could then use as the final URL for your hyperlink in your web part.
In the code snippet below you can see the Linq query (which I assumed from your post that you need to query to find the Discussion Boards) and a simple DataTable that you could then use to populate a repeater or you just omit the DataTable and
enumerate the results from the query yourself:
var linqResults
= from list in oSPWeb.Lists.Cast<SPList>() where list.BaseTemplate
== SPListTemplateType.DiscussionBoardselect list;
DataTable oDataTable
= new DataTable();
DataColumn oDataColumn_Title
= new DataColumn("Title", typeof(string));
oDataTable.Columns.Add(oDataColumn_Title);
DataColumn oDataColumn_URL
= new DataColumn("URL", typeof(string));
oDataTable.Columns.Add(oDataColumn_URL);
foreach (SPList oSPList in linqResults)
DataRow oDataRow
= oDataTable.NewRow();
oDataRow[
"Title"]
= oSPList.Title.ToString();
oDataRow[

LR 2 - special character in caption field
I'm using LR 2.6 and a custom template to generate a flash gallery.
The problem is my language which is Norwegian and contains characters like æøå and these behave strange when creating a web gallery.
In the library the caption field looks ok, but when exported to web, they make an extra whitespace and that's annoying.
I've looked into the xml file and can't see any whitespace there, so probably the problem appears when the swf file is created.
How do I control the output in the caption field when using special characters?
I've tried to change the encoding in the group.xml file, but it doesn't help. Also tried using entities for the characters such as å and å, it didn't help either.

Special Character Error in Message in PI after PI-PRD Upgrade
Dear Experts,
We had a PI PRD upgrade 3 days back from (PI NW 7.3 ) from SP-07 to SP-11.
After this upgrade we ar facing one peculiar issue which was not there before upgrade.
The messages containing special character like '&', ", etc is not getting parsed and throwing error.
The messages having no such characters are passing smoothly.
Is it upgrade related issue??
Thanks
SumitHi Sumit,
There is not a problem to introduce a java mapping in a response of a ECC system, at least if you are not using a standard PI software component. You can set in the response Operation Mapping, two mappings, the first one the java mapping and the second one your current mapping.
Java Mapping example: Java Mapping: To change the encoding type or replacing special characters.

Special character issue while loading data from SAP HR through VDS
Hello,
We have a special character issue, while loading data from SAP HR to IdM, using a VDS and following the standard documentation: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e09fa547-f7c9-2b10-3d9e-da93fd15dca1?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
French accent like (é,à,è,ù), are correctly loaded but Turkish special ones (like : Ş, İ, ł ) are transformed into u201C#u201D in Idm.
The question is : does someone know any special setting to do in the VDS or in IdM for special characters to solve this issue??
Our SAP HR version is ECC6.0 (ABA/BASIS7.0 SP21, SAP_HR6.0 SP54) and we are using a VDS 7.1 SP5 and SAP NW IdM 7.1 SP5 Patch1 on oracle 10.2.
ThanksWe are importing directly to the HR staging area, using the transactions/programs "HRLDAP_MAP", "LDAP" and "/RPLDAP_EXTRACT", then we have a job which extract data from the staging area to a CSV file.
So before the import, the character appears correctly in SAP HR, but by the time it comes through the VDS to the IDM's temporary table, it becomes "#".
Yes, our data is coming from a Unicode system.
So, could it be a java parameter to change / add in the VDS??

Pause after every character typed into title text
Typing text into title delays for 3 seconds after each character typed.
The best work around I found was to type the text into textedit and paste once done.
Any other suggestions?Is 4 the maximum number of characters that can be entered?
Then the solution is easy:
- set the maximum lenght property of the item to '4'
- set the automatic skip property to 'YES'
I hope this helps... -
Special character no longer works after updates
Hi,
I updated my system yesterday and it broke something. My PS1 used to look like: http://imgur.com/a/GboiZ#0 , with a special - character.
When I logged in today, my PS1 looked like this: http://imgur.com/a/GboiZ#2, and the line in my .bashrc with the filler looked like this: http://imgur.com/a/GboiZ#1.
I already downgraded bash and xterm, what could have caused this? I also tried zsh for the first time yesterday, but that doesn't seem to be related, since when I download an old copy of the file, the character is still screwed up.
Thanks in advanceStebalien wrote:
What is the output of 'env'? Make sure that the LANG and the LC_* variables end in ".utf8".
edit -- While you are at it, post your /etc/rc.conf, /etc/profile.d/locale.sh, and /etc/locale.gen.
LANG is set to C, running locale outputs everything as C too. However, LOCALE in rc.conf is set to en_US.UTF-8
locale.sh has:
if [ -s /etc/rc.conf ]; then
export LANG=$(. /etc/rc.conf 2> /dev/null ; echo "$LOCALE")
else
export LANG="C"
fi
which I guess is correct since LOCALE is set in rc.conf
locale.gen has everything but en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 and en_US ISO-8859-1 commented.

Load special character £ in node name
Hi,
I am importing the hierarchies with special character £ and once imported it shows as following before the node name:
small square box in place of £ with UTF8 as character encoding while importing and
? mark in place of £ with ASCII or ANSI as character encoding while importing.
Please let me know how to get the £ in the node name.
Thanks,
RaviGot it,
Save the text file itself in UTF format and then import with UTF8 encoding in DRM.

Special character not being converted to upper case
Hi all,
I have an issue with special characters and upper/lower case.
The character "ü" is in one of the values of an InfoObject and when loading we get an error message for this value. The character "Ü" is in RSKC, but still we are getting an error when loading.
We are converting the values to upper case in the transfer rules, but this special character is not being converted to upper case...
We start with the value "Heüringen" and after conversion we have the value "HEüRINGEN" where we want to have "HEÜRINGEN".
Do you have any idea why this characer is not being converted?
Any ideas are welcome!
Best regards,
TMVHi Praveen,
What does this module actually do? What kind of characters will the special chars be replaced with?

You can create the database with WE8DEC character set
and to use the WE8ISO8859P9 on the client or even on Linux.
The NLS_LANG setting doesn't effect the database, but the
interface with the database. The same setting can be used in de
windows 95/98/NT registry.

Need to prevent special character in generated XML file
Hello,
I am using E-business Suite 12.1.3 and XML version 5.6.3.
My XML file is ending up with a special character (a Latin capital letter U with circumflex) at the end, after the final closing tag.
Due to this the concurrent program that needs to output the XML is ending with warning.
My XML file is produced using a PL/SQL procedure, as follows (I've simplified it):
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>');
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<DOCS>');
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<LETTER>');
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'<EMP_NAME>Michaela Hart</EMP_NAME>');
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'</LETTER>');
FND_FILE.PUT_LINE(FND_FILE.OUTPUT,'</DOCS>');
But when I run the concurrent request that creates the output then try to view the output in Internet Explorer I get the following error:
Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'http://servername.domain...
</DOCS>
If I view the source of the page in Internet Explorer it shows a square after </DOCS> indicating the special character that has been added.
I checked this by looking at the output file in unix (cat -v o7766582.req) and it showed up the Latin U character.
I realise it could be to do with the character set I am using. I checked what we had on the server:
> echo $NLS_LANG
American_America.UTF8
I would have thought that corresponded with the XML declaration character set but I'm not sure.
Does anyone have any other ideas about why I have this special character, and how it could be removed?
Thanks in advance,
HazelHi AlexAnd,
thanks very much for your reply.
I'm now unable to recreate the problem since dbms_xmlgen worked. If I switch back to my previous method it works fine!
I'm not sure your suggestion would help, as there were no special characters in the data, the special character was added after the last tag I output. I hard coded the data (as in my example) for testing purposes so there was no SQL in use and the special character was still added at the end of the XML output. But I will definitely give it a try if I get the problem again.
I had the idea that maybe I should have been using FND_FILE.PUT rather than FND_FILE.PUT_LINE but now the error is gone I can't tell if that would have solved the problem either.
I appreciate your input.

Special character in interactive report using filter
Hi,
I created an interactive report and in this report there is a filter to search any row from specific value linked to a specific column.
As example this report displays a board with some columns like "SR number", "Status", "Description", ....
If I use this filter with standard character all works fine :
- in the filter's list of values I choose "Region" column
- in the search field I put "SE"
- click on go and the board is generated with all correct rows.
If I use this filter with special character (french character in my case), this filter changes this special character and the request doesn't return any row.
Example :
- in the filter's list of values I choose "Statut" column
- in the search field I put "Réception"
- the filter's expression is modified from "Réception" to "Réception" so no row is returned (filter - Statut contains 'Réception' - no data found)
I modified the character set used by the apex DAD changing the nls_lang parameter in the wdbsvr.app file from AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 (database character set) to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8
But when I check the apex DAD character set after the web server restart (about Application Express in my workspace) I get :
NLS_CHARACTERSET: WE8ISO8859P1
DAD CHARACTERSET: ISO-8859-1
No change.
I used the Application Express 3.2.0.00.27 with Oracle E-business Suite (11.5.10.2).
Any help will be appreciated.
Best regards,
Olivier

Edited by: oll on 15 mars 2010 21:17Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
But I already installed french language on apex.
Unfortunately issue occurs yet.
To install the french language I followed these steps :
- I set the NLS_LANG to American_America.AL32UTF8
- sqlplus sys/**** as sysdba
- ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_030200;
- and I executed the load_fr.sql script
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Olivier
