No local printer anymore

After applying 'pacman -Syu' today I no longer have a local printer on my system. Did I miss some message during my 'pacman -Syu' today about having to change some configuration?

yugrotavele wrote:I lost my local printer on the parallel port as well. The fix for me was to add lp, parport and parport_pc to the modules list in my rc.conf file. I used the information found at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/CUPS under parallel port printers.
That did the trick. Thanks.

  • Print context content on a client local printer

    Hi All,
We need to print the content of my context node using local printer of the client PC. We cannot use Adobe Forms because it is not supported on our UNIX platform.
We tried to use some Java libraries, but print goes to J2EE's server printer.
SAP EP is placed in Internet, not in Intranet.
    May you help us?
    Regards,
    Matteo.

Are your clients PCs also running UNIX?
If they are Windows systems, you could export the context data to Excel and print from there. There is a tutorial here in SDN.

Go to the website of the manufacturer of your printer and check to see if they have released an updated driver for your particular model.

In Sales Order Form there is a print receipt button. In current situation On Clicking the 'Print Receipt Button' it submits a XML Publisher report(PDF output) to the concurrent manager. Currently to print that report i need to go view--> requests--> view output and then print. I solved this problem myself using shell script through custom.pll. I wrote shellscript and called that shellscript through FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST.It printed 2 copies to local printer.

  • Forms-Reports Web : Direct print a file to a local printer

<p>For those people who are searching a solution to print their PDF Reports from the AS to a chosen local printer, let see this great Direct Print Java Bean from Casey Bowden.</p>
    Francois

    Hello,
If anyone is using DirectPrint java bean, maybe you can help us with this problem.
The issue we are facing is when we are printing Oracle reports that have non-standard colors.
For example, if field has light gray background it prints black instead. If field has black background and white text it prints black only, no text.
If field or frame line color is specified as anything but “No Line” (even as white), it prints black line color.
So even though report displayed on screen as PDF looks completely normal, when sent to the printer unfortunately does not.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Print a web-report to a local printer

    Dear All
I have a form(10g) with a report object that its destination type is 'PRINTER'. This form is run from application server (Form services 10g).The report is now sent to printer that set on AppServer machine. But I want to have it on local printer.
How can I config my application in order to send the report (.rdf) to my locan priner that set on my PC?
    Thanks in advance ...
    Iman

If you don't want to use the PJC you have other solutions.
In some cases you can add your local printer on the application server, this is done when your application is running on an intranet. You can also use the orarrp utility provided by Oracle.

  • Remote Desktop doesn't work with local printer

I am having trouble using a locally networked printer when I use Remote Desktop to connect to a Vista machine.  Under the local resources tab for RD, I have checked printers.  The only thing I can figure is that my printer is networked locally, not connected directly to my machine.  Every time I try to print during my remote desktop session, I can't access my locally networked printer.
I installed the printer drivers on the remote computer and when I try to locate the printer, I get the following error: "Windows cannot connect to the printer.  Server print spooler service is not running..." but the spooler service IS runing.
I also found a post elsewhere that discussed setting 'share permissions' and 'network permissons' to resovle the spooler error.  Still no go.
I tried to plug in my printer to a local USB port this morning.  Still would not work.  I keep getting the same spooling error.  The drivers are not corrupt, as others have indicated may be the cause.  They work fine on my system locally with 7.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  I've spent a few hours on this one and am at a loss at this point.
Please help.  I really need to print locally.

My problem was that the Vista remote system never saw local port that my printer was using for some reason and it never accepted the path noted above (\\servername\printer)...always came back with an error that it was an invalid path.  This was with it both networked and plugged in via USB port.
I finally figued it out after four days and many hours on the phone with Microsoft.  Microsoft support claimed that it was related to my router settings, but I didn't believe it since the remote computer saw my iPhone just fine when it was connected locally.  After simply playing around, here's what I found...it was actually quite basic!
On the remote system, when you try to add a 'local' printer, there's a drop down menu with a list of local ports that your remote system sees.  Some of those will be on the remote system, but others will be on your local system.  Make a note of the ones that are seen on your local system.  In my case, LPT1 was not visible, but COM3 was.
Next, on your local system, in the settings for your functioning printer (Printer Properties, Ports Tab), there's a tick box that says "Enable Printer Pooling."  Once you check that box, you can select multiple ports on your local machine.  Here, you need to tick the box that your remote system is seeing (in my case, it's COM3), but make sure that your exisitng port remains checked as well (in my case, an IP port for my wireless router).  Basically what you're doing is on your local system, you are pooling your exising printer setup with a port that can be seen by your remote system.
Then, on the remote system, install the printer drivers but don't select a port.  Then go into Printers and add a printer.  Select 'local' setup for that and when asked for the port, use the port you checked in the previous step on your local system (in my case, I selected COM3 on my local system).  Select your printer from the list.  It will ask if you want to use the exisiting drivers...say yes.  Then print a test page to be sure that it works.  Worked fine for me.
I simply can't believe how obvsious that solution was!  If the remote system can't see the port you currently use, pool your printer setup with a port that it can see!

  • Can't share local printer in Windows 7 Pro-error 0x000006d9

    Hello,
I recently purchased a laptop and wanted to share my local printer, attached via USB to my desktop (tower) in my home.  My desktop runs Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  My laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
When I try to share my printer, accept the default printer name (or modify it), from the sharing tab of printer properties, I get an error:  "printer settings could not be saved.  Operation could not be completed (error 0x000006d9)".
I did some searching in this forum and via google but this error code does not appear for this type of issue (i.e. printer sharing).  Does anyone have any suggestions?
I also verified my Event Viewer and see no errors whatsoever related to printer or network settings or file and printer sharing.  I CAN share my files on THIS desktop with the laptop and have already transferred files from the desktop to the laptop successfully.  But printer sharing is giving the above error.
** Also, I MAY have a related problem but I am unsure about this, so I wanted to mention this in this same thread in case they are related:  I cannot start the homegroup listener service from services on the desktop (win 7 pro) - get error code 2147023143.  Homegroups are NOT setup (not created) on neither the laptop nor the desktop.  Again, I tried to search for this error code but the results are inconclusive.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Its now been THREE YEARS since this "bug" has been discovered and resolved by a user, and there is not one word about it in MS's online help.  Today I had this exact issue of not being able to share a printer on Windows 7 with other computers on my
my local network.  And this is the same printer I've been sharing with the same network for nearly FIVE YEARS!!  I have always used 3rd party virus/firewall software, but I don't disable the windows firewall.  Rather I just set it to "Manual"
because some network software seems to need it occassionally.  The result is the same however, as is the solution.  I had updated and reinstalled my printer software, and apparantly sharing is disabled by default.  After stumbling upon this
thread, after several hours wasted searching Windows Help and Microsoft "NON"-Support websites and KB's, I simply ran the firewall just long enough to enable sharing, and instantly the backlog of spoolled print jobs began printing.
Thank you.  You would think MS would have at least written this solution into their help files by now ... but than again, they are probably making money with their "paid" support option from all the desperate people who suddenly can't use there printers.
Probably charging $50 just to tell people to turn the firewall on for a few seconds.  I can't think of another reason to conveniently omit this simple solution from the "free" support.

  • Not able to print to local printer on someone else's machine

I have a user in our office who hooks up to the internet, but now has a new machine and did not hook up to our domain.  She uses Windows 8.1 and has a local printer for her advisors to use.  She used to be a part of the domain, and people(who are the domain) could print to her local printer.   Now that she is no longer part of the domain no can print to her and when you try to add her printer, it says access denied.   What's going on?

I have SanDisk USB 4 Gb flash and was going to use it for exactly the thing as you do and ran into same problem. However somewhere I read that the flash drive can be reformatted (I think MSDOS) so it will be recognized on both PC and Mac. But since the prices of the flash drives dropped so much I just ran down to Staples and got another identical SanDisk flash and now use one for my PC and one for my Mac.

  • Printing Problem at LOCAL  Printer

    Hello guru's,
Through workflow after approval and release of Purchase order, it should print at a LOCAL printer. but it is not happening. Will anyone suggest me the reasons behind that.
    Full points for useful solution

    Hi,
There're quite a number of steps between release of PO and the piece of paper appearing on the printer.
Has a spool request been created?  What status does the spool request have?  Is there an error log for the spool request?
Is the release happening in a background task or dialog?  If LOCAL is using SAPlpd on the user's PC it won't work in the background.
    Regards,

  • Local Printer not working via Remote Link

I have a problem with my remote desktop printing to my local printer.  I connect via RD on Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Pro.  I have installed an HP Laserjet Pro CM1415fn printer.  All prints fine locally.  Also everything printed fine
but have had to have a recent update to my Remote PC that I log into.  So the printer had to be reinstalled.
All worked ok for about 6 print jobs then stopped working.  Nothing has changed.  I have changed the settings on the printer as it seemed to be when the printer went into 'Sleep' mode.  I have tried restarting the Printer Spooler in Services
and rebooting the remote PC but no joy.
    Any ideas please.

    Hi,
You mean after the reinstallation, the local printer worked for a while and then stopped working with nothing changed?
Take a try with the printer troubleshooter:

  • How Do I Redirect LPT1 Printer Port to 'LOCAL Printer' in Windows 7

I have previously redirected LPT1 Port to a 'Network Printer' as well as 'Print Server' with NO PROBLEMS.
However, I have NOT been able to redirect LPT1 Port to a 'LOCAL' PRINTER. I have already set up:
     - new HP Laser Printer (tested, no problem printing in Windows)
     - the printer is SHARED, shared name is "HPLaser" (tested by viewing Shared Printer Name and Computer Name in DOS)
     - bat file as --> Net
    use Lpt1 \\DkTop1\HPLaser /persistent:yes
(I checked to ensure the 'Computer
    Name' and the 'Shared
Printer Name' are correct. Tested by running bat command, no
    error message)
When printing in DOS and viewing "What's Printing" from Printer Icon,
     - the DOS print job appears immediately as "spooling",
     - then "printing" and "USB001" Port.
So, it appears to be printing from the DOS application, also
note NO ERRORS from DOS Program or Windows but it does NOT print.
The only difference between the 'Local Printer' setup and
the 'Print Server Printer' setup is,
     the 'PRINT SERVER'
goes to an "IP Address w/Standard TCP/IP Port"
    and the 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    goes to "USB001 Virtual Printer for . . .".
    IS THERE A PROBLEM in
    SETTING UP THE 'LOCAL PRINTER'
    with 'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port???
If so, how do I resolve? If not, please note what is the problem(s) and resolution(s). Thanks.

    Hi,
you install the new printer, which port you choose to use? What do you mean by saying "'USB001 VIRTUAL PRINTER' Port"
    here?
As the printer is configured locally, there is no need to redirect the port to it.
    Install a printer
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/install-printer#install-printer=windows-7
    Here for more information:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows-vista/add-or-remove-a-printer
If possible please take a try to delete the printers holding the Lpt1 port, then reconfigure the local printer following the instructions provided above.
    Hope this may help
    Best regards
