No login to the Apple Discussions

Since Leopard, I can't log into the Apple Discussions any more (I'm writing this from my work windows-PC)...
Has anybody an Idea why?

I'm having trouble with logins to a couple of sites, this being one.
On this site, if I log in to this sub-topic ("Using Mac OS X Leopard"), it won't work. But if I go up a level, login, then come back down here, it works.
On another site, I come in every morning to find I have been logged out overnight (after having been automatically logged in upon visiting for months at a time under Tiger). On that site, trying to log in simply fails over and over. This morning, zapping PRAM fixed it.
So I also would like a solution to this problem!

I understand the instructions to create a new account id (apple id) from the old aol account. However, does this mean my purchases will be split into 2 accounts; or does the fact that I currently see everything under my apple id (regardless of the purchased by username) mean this will all still appear in my current account as it does now?

You see them where when you login your non-AOL account ?
If you currently have two accounts (the AOL username account and an email address account) then you will continue to have two accounts, and nothing should change when you update the AOL account to be an email address (apart from how you access that account).
You will just be renaming the account to have an email address for accessing it, not creating a new account.

Why exactly do you care if it is registered?
Is there some issue with the device?

Can I use the Apple Discussion software?

I have my own web server and I was looking for some good forum software. I usually use phpBB. However, I started dreaming of forum software that would be great and remembered how much I like the Apple Discussions forums.
I am sure the answer is no, but it does not hurt to ask. Does Apple have any plans to make their forums software available for other people to use?
If this is not the proper forum for this topic, I apologize. It did not seem to fit anywhere else.

I agree. I am never sure when to mark something as a question because it may be quick or it may be a hard one and trying to decide who gets credit for what comments seems like a lot more work than I am looking for usually.

Hello, i ordered 2 32GB white iphone 4s online as a guest user. The mobiles has been delivered, but i cant print the invoice for that. They ask me to login with the apple ID. But as i mentioned i logged in as guest so there's no AppleID associated. HELP !

Problem with the Apple Discussions

When I'm logged into the Apple Discussions, it says I have 2 unresolved questions. When I click, My Questions, it says I have no unresolved questions. When I DO have 1 question, it says I have 3 unresolved questions.

We often see this problem when questions are asked in a pre-release forum and it does not receive an answer before we close that area. We have a member of our staff looking through older removed forums trying to clear out these unanswered questions that authors can no longer access.

Apple sells unlocked iphones now.
They can be used with any compatible/GSM carrier.
Iphones are not compatible at all with Sprint.
T-Mobile is currently being purchased by AT&T.

What Software Runs The Apple Discussion Boards?

I really like the way the Apple Discussion boards work. They've seemed a bit slow this weekend, but other than that, I like how the system operates. I recently was comparing a bunch of forum software:

So, how can I setup a forum using the same system Apple has?

Is it just me, or are the Apple Discussion servers having trouble today?

I've been strugling with Safari problems all day, and coming here looking for solutions, I'm constantly getting "We're sorry, Apple Discussions is temporarily unavailable", the entire discussion section seems to be offline as much as it's available today, and the darn thing has crashed several different browsers on different operating systems....
Is there some massive spike in usage? (because Steve's back? - glad to hear he is! because Safari is driving people crazy? or is it really just me?).
Hope this message goes through before it freeze up again...

Startup your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk.
If that didn't help, try here > A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
The ? mark on boot can mean several things. One, your Mac can't find a system folder to boot from, hence booting while holding down the Option key, or the startup disk needs repairing.

Safari 4 displays incorrect the apple discussion search forum textbox

The Search Forum textbox on the right displays double in Safari 4.0 while its ok with Firefox.

That's distorted image file appeared with Safari 4 Beta and still hasn't been corrected. There's been other threads reporting it. Maybe Safari 5.

Login issue in Apple Discussion Forum - Safari Only

I can no longer log into my Discussions Forum account using Safari (3.1.2). When I log in I am taken to the Create New User page, where I get stuck in a loop. I can log into my account just fine using Firefox 3, which is what I'm using to write this.
Please do not offer generic suggestions if you are not familiar with this specific issue. I don't want to hear advice about clearing my cache and cookies, etc. This issue has been reported several times in these forums and nobody has offered a viable solution.

Forum software is not very multi-user friendly, nor (for sanity sake) encouraged. As you've discovered, switching from one user account to another requires deleting forum related cookies before logging in.
Curious why you have more than one user account?
