No longer able to connect to 3g network, 1x only

My father has been having issues connecting to the 3g network with a verizon usb dongle for about a month now.  He was sent another dongle (4g/3g) and is still having the same issue.  I went to his house yesterday and I had the same problem with my droid incredible.  No 3g even though I used to have solid 3g coverage there.  I updated the prl on my phone while I was there and still only 1x.  There is a tower about 4 miles from his house.  He lives in Northeast NC zip 27820.  Are there any issues in this area?

kidsmakeyoucraz,
I do understand not getting a 3G signal, especially when you should be, would be disappointing!  I checked the zip code you provided, and do not see any specific 3G signal issues in your area, however, something is clearly preventing your 3G signal and I would like to further troubleshoot.
If you are still having the issue with maintaining a 3G signal at your fathers address, please reply to my private message with some additional information.

my connection had been fine since i got my phone but yesterday when i tried to re-connect it said "unable to join" and has kept saying that even though i put my password in

    Hello Cjruns
The following steps below may assist with resolving this issue and assist in the troubleshooting. If they do not help and or you have additional questions please post.
    1. Is your network password security WEP? if so is it 40 or 64 bit?
If it is WEP and 40 or 64 bit password. Please change your WEP to 128 bit which means you would then need to create a 13 character password.
or if you have all newer technology in the house and it supports it. Use WPA/WPA2 Personal which means you would then need to create an 8 character password minimum.
Your iPhone should pickup this new change in security. But to be on the safe side do the following.
    1. Settings- WiFi- Tap on your networks blue circle and tell it Forget this network if possible
    2. Settings- General - Reset- Reset Network Settings - Confirm - iPhone will reboot
Now go back and reconnect to your WiFi with your current wireless password.
This should fix the issue you have assuming you were using WEP 40 or 64 bit Security.
Please consult your ISP and or Router Manufacture for assistance on changing security settings in the router. This is simply advice of something you can try.
If you want to rule this as a possible security conflict. The quickest way is to turn security off on your router, and Reset Network settings in iPhone. Now when you go to connect to your WiFi it should have no Padlock on it. And it should connect without any issues.
If this does happen it means the iPhone works well with the router and you need to use a different security type mentioned above.
Also Firmware Updates to the router could potentially resolve the issue as well. But again consult your ISP or Router Manufacture before you do this.

  • After updating to 10.7.3 I am no longer able to connect to the internet.

Updated to 10.7.3 this morning on my Macbook Air (Oct. 2010 model). After restarting, I am no longer able to connect to the internet. I can connect to the router, and pull a valid IP address (sometimes - other times I get an automatic private IP), but I am unable to get to any websites, check email, etc. I am able to ping websites AND visit websites using their IP addresses, but not using their DNS names.
I called Applecare this morning, and the tech walked me through some troubleshooting steps, including:
Rebooting into Repair partition to check connectivity there (same issues, no change)
Deleting and recreating various config files (Networkinterfaces.plist, preferences.plist and com.apple.airport.preferences.plist) (no change)
I've also tried reinstalling the update (both delta and combo), repairing disk permissions and rebooting into safe mode, nether of which has solved the issue.
Also on the network are (Mini, not updated to 10.7.3), a PC, my iPhone and an Apple TV, all of which aren't experiencing any issues. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Here is something to try.  Boot into the Recovery HD by holding
down Command+R when booting.  Select the get help online option.
It initially opens Safari with a local web page, but you can use
the bookmarks on the bookmark bar or even enter a website.
Many extensions may not be available but it could tell you if
it is your Lion install that is a problem or perhaps a hardware
    problem.
If you can browse around in this mode, then it could eliminate
any possible hardware issues.  If you still have problems, then
the issue could possibly be hardware/driver related.
Give it a shot and see what happens.

  • WiFi no longer able to even see wireless networks

At some point (I believe after installing an update) my iPhone is no longer able to find any wireless networks. It will just continue to "spin" on the choose a network screen and never finds any. Trust me when I say the wireless access point is working and isn't the problem. I used to be able to connect to it and haven't changed anything. Plus there are other iPhone and iTouch users in my house that use it without a problem as well.
Here are the things I've tried:
    1. Switch to airplane mode then switch back
    2. Reset Network Settings in the general\reset menu
    3. Upgrade to the latest and greatest iphone OS
    4. Finally, I did a reset to factory defaults losing all of my apps and settings. THIS WORKED until I did a restore of my backup to get my apps and data back.
Is there any way to get this working again without losing everything and starting over?

This is a user to user help forum only.
    Copied from my previous post.
If no change after resetting network settings on your iPhone and/or after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, your iPhone has a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else. The iPhone includes a one year warranty.
Apple's solution if no change after what was copied from my previous post is an exchange under warranty since your iPhone has a hardware problem. With a hardware problem the only solution is an exchange under warranty. If there is no Apple store nearby, you can call AppleCare. If you have purchased the AppleCare extended warranty, the exchange will be shipped to your door the next business day after calling. If you haven't purchased the AppleCare extended warranty, if you pay $29 the exchange will be shipped to your door the next business day after calling. You must give AppleCare a credit card in case you don't return your existing iPhone within 10 days after the exchange under warranty is received. You use the same box to return your existing iPhone with the return shipping label located below the shipping label to you. AppleCare includes tape to reseal the box and a small paperclip to remove the SIM card from your existing iPhone. The phone number for the shipping carrier is included in the box. When the box is ready to be picked up to return your existing iPhone to Apple, you call the carrier.

  • Airport Express is no longer able to extend my Airport network.

After the 7.6.1 upgrade, my Airport Express is no longer able to extend my Airport network.  I didn't change any configuration, but as I was confirming the configuration options in Airport Utility, I noticed that the option for the Airport Extreme to "allow this network to be extended" is missing and that my Airport Express had been changed to client mode.  I really need the capability of extending the range of my network, it worked before the firmware upgrade, so how can I get it back?  The hardware are both less than a year old (I bought them in the summer of 2011).

I suggest downloading Airport Utility 5.6
It was released the sameday as 6.0 but it doesn't have the features you used to have as you just found out.

  • Satellite L650-11R - not able to connect to public networks

    Hello there.
Although I am very pleased with my laptop, I have one problem. I am not able to connect to public networks using ethernet cable at some location (not everywhere) Users with different laptops have no problem connecting to the same networks that I cannot, so I'm guessing the problem is my laptop.
I always get "unidentified network" error. I tried replacing the cable but the problem still remains.
    Any suggestions?

Hi everybody, I have the same problem which happened with united & for the same product Satellite L650-1HR & also using default Toshiba OS, Windows 7 home premium.
from my home I can't connect to internet & always get "unidentified network" error also I tried replacing the cable but the problem still remains. only at my home & the same cable working properly with any other Laptop without any problem, outside home internet working properly without any problem.
I tried all ways, turned off firewall & the DHCP is already enabled, but I'm getting message telling that " the local aria connection does not have a veiled IP configuration"
    So what do you think?

Check your store location is set correctly, if this doesn't help, try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds.

  • User no longer able to connect to afp shared drive

I have upgraded our server to 10.7.1.  After about a week about 2/3 of our users are no longer able to connect to the shared drive using afp.  It worked fine for the first week and now several users cannot connect.  When attempting to coonect to the afp share it does not even attempt to authenticate.  Please help.

Is the firewall service turned off? Can you connect to the localhost from the server itself (afp://127.0.0.1/) ?

  • No longer able to connect to a 4G network.

I need some help.  My phone received a new update, and in receiving the update, I've lost the ability to connect to any 4G networks.  I went to the Verizon store yesterday and received a new SIM card, as I'd seen that many people fixed their S3 by doing this.  After replacing the SIM, the phone struggled to connect to ANY network.  With a few reboots, it finally connected to the 3G networks consistantly.  One of the technicians at the store said that the next step would be to do a factory reset on my phone.  In doing this...my phone was completely wiped and clean...however, apart from losing my contacts, pics, data, and apps....still...only 3G networks are available on my phone.  What else might be done to fix this problem?

Hello Rackzul, a working phone is super important! Do other functions of the phone currently work such as calls or text? What zip code are you located in?

  • No longer able to connect to Yamaha RX-V675 amp from Apple devices

Sorry for the length of this post, but I wanted to get everything down in one hit and I REALLY need some help as it's driving me nuts!
I have been happily connecting to my Yamaha RX-V675 amp from my Macbook Pro (2010) with no problems since I bought the amp a year or so ago - connected through iTunes > Airplay and it also appeared as a device in my System Preferences > Sound menu. I was playing music from the Remote app on my iPhone (6)/iPad (2) and was always able to connect, which I believe routes through iTunes/MB rather than the device itself.
However, I noticed the other evening in iTunes on the MB that the Airplay menu had turned orange, but I wasn't using it so I didn't think anything more of it. Since then I've tried to connect and the Airplay option no longer appears, nor does the amp appear as a device in the Sys Pref > Sound menu. As an aside, connecting to the amp directly via Airplay from my iPhone and iPad has always been flaky - sometimes I would see the amp as an Airplay device but many times I wouldn't, to the point that I have given up trying.
I also have a Synology Disc Station and I can use the DS Audio app on my iPhone/iPad to play music on the same amp via Airplay. Both the amp and MB are hard wired on my network, plus I have checked my router a number of times and the amp always shows up as connected (plus I can ping the amp and access its web console from a browser on my MB), so there is nothing wrong with the network connectivity of the the devices. I have tried all suggestions made in another similar post, including changing the name of the network on the Yamaha amp via it's web portal, which seems to have worked for many people but made no difference for me. I've also updated both OS X and iTunes with the latest updates, but it's made no difference. I can still however connect via the DS Audio app over Airplay every time.
Even though I can connect via DS Audio, the app itself is a little clunky and I would really prefer to use Remote/iTunes as it is much slicker and previously worked a treat. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Any help would be very much appreciated as I losing a lot of hair over this!

excuse me, not linksystem, its a verizon FIOS wireless router & modem as part of the package. i was thinking my old setup.
    new system...cant edit my posts....?

You need to check your RADIUS server logs as WLC proces the ACCESS-REJECT coming from that. In Radius log it should say why client get rejected.

  • No longer able to connect...tells me to 'See administrator'

We have a wireless network set up at work using an Airport Express. Its set up using a WEP password for security. I've been able to connect to it in the past but for some reason now it won't. I'm still able to connect to it with my iphone thou. After entering the proper Network name and password (with proper caps) on the "Enter the Name of the Network" window, it tells me to "See Administrator" on the bottom left corner above the Show Networks button.
Does anyone have any idea whats going on?

n/m...someone changed a setting on me. working now
