No longer able to sign in under real Apple ID--anyone know why?
Yesterday I tried signing in to the Support Communities on my recently purchased iPad 2 and when I entered my longstanding still valid Apple ID and PW I was switched to a screen that stated "We're sorry Your account could not be created due to system issues.Please contact Apple Support Communities with the information below to create your account"...followed by text boxes to enter a contact email and issue details. I entered my email and stated in the issues box that I was only trying to sign in with an existing Apple ID and PW,not create a new account and clicked the send box.
I have not received any email from support re this as of today. I was able to sign in to the discussions on my desktop Mac earlier this AM using my valid Apple ID and PW, but could not on my iPad.
Thinking this might be due to a less than robust PW I changed the PW and successfully updated in Mail and the App Store on both iPad and desktop Mac, but now I am unable to sign in to discussions on either device using the updated and valid ID and PW.
Since I have AppleCare for the iPad I contacted telephone support and was talked through creating this second Apple ID which I am using only to sign into discussions. I have received no answer to any of the several online form emails I have sent when my primary Apple ID/PW was not accepted to sign in to the support community forums.
I suspect this all has to do with the revolutionary reformat of the forums. I also suspect I am not the only one who finds the Apple ID/PW which works everywhere else is rejected by the forum. Other victims of this exclusion may simply not be able to post the problem (since one cannot post if one cannot sign in) and don't realize they can create an alternate Apple ID to post with.
Does anyone who CAN post have any explanation and/or solution to this, or am I condemned to use a back door sign in forever?

I just created this account so that I could post here. I also am a long time member of the discussions as "sactobob" and my Apple ID is working fine everyplace Apple except this new Communities deal and works from my iMac, my Air, my iPhone and my iPad. Almost everyday, I have tried and I just keep getting the "account could not be created due to system issues" message. Tried everything that anyone suggested. Even tried an old Apple ID.
And I have sent that form describing the problem at least 5 or 6 times with no response. Spent the last couple of hours with Apple support on the phone. They were just coming up with the same ideas like deleting cookies, clearing cache, etc...
This sounds to me like Apple is having database problems relative to validating our ID's for moving into the Communities from the old discussion forums. Does anyone know if they are working on the problem?

I just downloaded a new software update on my I-phone5. As part of the process I was asked to sign in to iCloud and enter the password for an ID that I've long ago deleted with Apple. Anyone know why my new apple ID isn't coming up?
No. The problem is that when you changed Apple IDs you did not update your Apple ID to reflect the change, so your phone is still associated with the old ID. You will need to un-associate it. The process is the same as what you would do if you sold the phone. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5661

What happens when you try to buy it, does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?

Someone else set up my apps on my iPad. Now when I load find friends it shows him instead of me. I rebooted and re installed the app. How can I remove him even though I'm signed in under my apple account tnx

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

I am no longer able to create chapters in my Apple TV files
I am no longer able to create chapters in my Apple TV files. When I first started editing on the Mac (November 2009) I had a brand new iMac and Snow Leopard. With Snow Leopard came a 'special' version of QuickTime (QT X?) which were told not to update to 'Pro' (QT 7 Pro). My process was to use FCE with chapter markers to export my home videos to a QuickTime file. FCE created a beautiful .mov file with embedded visual chapters as I had marked them. It imported fine into iDVD. The next step was to 'Save As' within QuickTime and choose to save with the Apple TV profile. The .mov file would be converted and everything, including Chapters, would go with it. From Apple TV, I could peruse my home movies and dig deeper via chapters. Amazing and totally cool.
About 9 months ago, maybe a year, the chapters were no longer saving with the Apple TV format. This meant that each hour long home movie could not be accessed via chapters.
Was this functionality removed from QuickTime X? Is there any way to get it back? I am almost a year behind in my editing since I can no longer easily get the chapter markers in.

D.im glad that somebody is atleast trying. perhaps i need to be more clear.
i will step by step describe the issue in detail.
1) i open an email that contains an attachment .dxf or .pdf
2) i click on the attachment shown in the email and aprompt comes up asking if i want to open or save the attachment.
3) i select save. (by default it saves to a downloads folder. but i have also chosen to use other folders (when i did that it wouldnt save them)
4) i highlight the downloads arrow on the right top side of my browser and click it
5) it pulls down a list of the files that i USED to be able to click and drag onto my destop, or anyplace i chose
6) used to be when i clicked and held the left mouse button down on top of a file of my choosing it would highlight and as i began to drag, a ghost image would appear of the file i was dragging. showing a (/) symbol next to it showing i couldnt drop the file within the browser and a + simbol showing that i could drop the file when the file was hovering over a place where i could drop the file such as my desktop or other folder. now, when i click and hold on the file.... I DONT get anything. when i drag. nothing follows. while i am "dragging" in the area that is my browser, i get the pointy finger icon. as soon as i enter an area where i could have dropped the file as before, i get my standard cursor arrow.
its really as if the drag and drop feature just dosent work IN FIREFOX.
i can drag and drop files all day long everyplace else. -

When I use the Iris enhance i'm no longer able to use clarity,saturation,tone,tint etc... why?
Why not? The Iris Enhance Preset sets the brush to Exposure +0.35, Clarity +10 and Saturation +40. If you want additional adjustments on the same brush or different values for the three preset parameters, just move the sliders. -
With the latest upgrade to iPhoto, Keywords no longer display under the photo, even when Display Keywords is turned on. Does anyone know why?
Keywords have been moved into the Info tray at the right. Don't know why it was changed. You can send a request to change it back to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

When I bootup the icon for Elements shows up in orange. It changes to green only when I've gone to Finder and clicked on Elelments under the Devices list. This is a recent development. The icon used to be green upon bootup. Does anyone know why ?

I'm not affiliated w/ the developer, just a happy user that gave up fighting the apple podcast app a while ago. I used to have a bunch of smart playlists in itunes for my podcasts, and come home every day and pathologically synced my phone as soon as I walked in the door, and again before I walked out the door in the morning.
Since my wife was doing this too, we were fighting over who's turn it was to sync their phone.
Since I've switched to Downcast, I no longer worry about syncing my phone to itunes at all. I can go weeks between syncs.
Setup a "playlist" in downcast (ex., "Commute") and add podcasts to that playlist. Add another playlist ("walk" or "workout") and add different podcasts to that one.
Set podcast priorities on a per-feed basis (ex., high priority for some daily news feeds, medium priority for some favorite podcasts, lower priority for other stuff). Downcast will play the things in the priority you specify, and within that priority, it will play in date order (oldest to newest).
Allegedly, it will also sync your play status to other devices, although that is not a feature I currently use and can't vouch for. It uses apple's iCloud APIs, so to some extent may be limited by what Apple's APIs can do. -
I have an older iMac 5,1 and the disc drive no longer works. I was hoping that I could the Apple USB super drive as a replacement, but the info on the super drive page says compatible with iMac 2012 or later. Does anyone know why it would not work for me?
A reply to similar question (Q & As , in product page Apple Store) says:
"...dissable the internal reader hardware from devices setup. Then plug the external usb superdrive and that's it." Answered by Enrique T from Lima Oct 25 2013.
If you can locate an external Apple USB 'Air" superdrive for earlier model MacBook Air, that should work. The newer one for the Air is the same as for iMac, now.
You may be able to use other brands of external USB optical drive with your older intel-based iMac, as some of them function capably. A few should also be able to see system discs or other bootable utilities on DVD.

Recently on my mpb I was editing a jpg using the shapes option and know notice that the heart shape no longer is an option to use. Anyone know why? The square, circle and lasso are still there.
I am not aware of a heart, square, circle or lasso shape i=for editing in iphoto for the Mac - Maybe you are thinking of iPhoto for IOS which has been discontinued and is not available under IOS 8

I can no longer print from windows pc via mac/time machine in lion. Does anyone know why or how to fix? I have print sharing ticked and printer is HP laser jest 2550.

Somce an update about a month ago, iTunes no longer shows which songs on a particular album I've previously purchased. Does anyone know why? For example, I purchase a number os songs fro Glee individually. When a new compilation album comes out, iTunes used to indicate which ones I've already purchased. Now it doesn't.

My apple tv main menu no longer displays the "movies" section, just internet, computers, and settings. Does anyone know why or how to get it to show again? Recently rented a movie directly through apple tv but can't see the "movies" section in main menu now. WiFi and home sharing are working.

Check the location setting for the iTunes Store is correct.
You might also try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.
If you are still having problems try a restore. -
Does anyone know why since upgrading to ML notes are not visible in Time Machine. They used to be part of mail and could be recovered from Time machine but since ML I don't seem to be able to access notes in Time Machine. Any help would be useful.

Mail doesn't support notes. If you use iCloud, you have them in it because Notes is an application
