NO LONGER ABLE TO UPLOAD "NO CONFIGURED COMPUTER FOUND ON THE NETWORK" ????

I am stumped because I have uploaded pictures for a long time with no trouble to my computer and it doesn't matter what program software I use whether its Picasa or I photo or any other I assume, I get this message:
"no configured computer found on the network"
and if I use and flash drive it says:
"device selected is not active."
No matter what method I use on my MAC Tiger and no matter what program whether its Picasa or Iphoto and where i try to load them from whether its a camera or a card reader or through the slot on my printer, i keep getting the message "no configured computer found on the network" and if I use and flash drive it says device selected is not active.
I don't get it. I've uploaded pictures all kinds of times to my computer without this trouble. Where do i need to look, I assume at the computer because it doesn't matter which method I use to load them the computer doesn't work.
software, computer, hardware, what????

I'm sorry, I apologize, I left a follow-up here when I realized it was DUH not connected with my cable? Like what an idiot. I don't have enough ports and so I had unplugged it.
I know I left a followup but maybe it wasn't saved. Again, sorry. Thanks for your response.

The window doesn't automatically pop up now. When you plug the card reader in, you should see a 4th option on the lower bar of the photos app. I think it says camera. Tap on that then you can see and inport your photos.
If you are still having issues, try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again. It won't hurt any data but can clear gliches.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check your store location is set correctly, if this doesn't help, try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for a 30 seconds.

Do you have a bootable clone from prior to the update? If so, roll back with that.
Are your apps that won't open PPC and do they need Rosetta? Do you need to activate Rosetta?
Have you considered reinstalling 10.6 from your install disc and then coming forward with the 10.6.8 Combo Updater, then doing software update and not including whatever it was you installed that caused this propblem?
By the way - what update was it that caused this problem?

Have you downloaded everything that is on the camera? If so format the SD card on the camera (will erase everything on the card).
If you have not downloaded everything can you see stuff on the camera? If you have a card reader you could try putting the SD card in that and trying on the mini. If your mini has a SD card slot you could try that.
In any case format the card on the camera before taking more pics.
Next time be sure to eject the camera from the Mac properly and turn the camera off before disconnecting.
EDIT: You might also check the camera's USB Mode is set to PC.

  • No longer able to connect to any computer with iPhone 4s

I have a iPhone 4s. I connected it to my Macbook Air today and instead of changing the battery icon to green and appearing in iphoto, nothing happens. Same for iTunes. When I plug the phone into my charger, the charger works. So its not the USB connection.
I tried it in a PC and in my Mac Pro. Same deal. Prior to today all of these computers saw my iphone and I was able to download photos, update music etc.
Now, none of them seem to connect and they don't appear in any programs.
I restarted the iphone three times and the computers, but nothing has been helped. At least I can charge the phone, but I really want to get the photos off it as the icloud sync is iffy. Plus its a lot easier when the computer connects to the phone. Why has this suddenly broken?
    I have the current iOS7.1.1
    Help?

Thanks for the feedback. I really really think it is something weird within the phone because:
    1. I have 3 computers which all have synced in the past and now suddenly they all do not work
    2. the usb cable charges the phone when plugged into the charger, but no computers connected to the iphone with the same cable are recognised
    3. I tried another iphone cable and get the exact same results
I did update itunes but it did not help
I tried the AMD settings but it did not help
I even put the phone into "plug me into itunes" mode and even that did not work, on a newer macbook air, with the latest itunes. I restarted the phone and it is back to the way it was, eg not connecting, but otherwise seems ok.
So, I'm still stuck. If it comes to it, I will zap the entire unit and let icloud reload it, but that is a rather extreme measure.

  • No longer able to sync Iphone with computer?

I recently bought a new Macbook Pro, and now itunes doesn't allow me to sync the music I have on my phone onto m computer. When I try to sync, iTunes wants to transfer things from computer to phone, instad of phone to computer. I never had this problem with older versions of iTunes on my old Macbook.

This is correct.  As has been the case from the very first iphone, it will sync with one and only one computer at a time.  Syncing to another computer will erase the current content form the iphone and replace with content from the new computer.
The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

I am not sure if  I accidently changed any settings but out of no where I am no longer able to "trash" any email from my comcast inbox. When I tap the trash can the email remain in the inbox.

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

Lately I find that there is a change in my Safari program.  I am no longer able to select "minimize" when I want to save the present page for a later time.  Instead, I can only quit the program to get out of it.  Please tell me what I need to do to get the minimize feature back.  Thank you.

    Hi...
"minimize" when I want to save the present page for a later time
Minimize reduces the size of the window. It doesn't save the page.
Click the Reading List icon just to the left of the Bookmarks icon left side of the Safari toolbar then drag the url from the Safari Address Bar to the Reading List.
You can access saved pages from there.

    Hi Preethi,
Can u pls help me, how to check whether the relevant roles are assigned to this user i.e., pisuper for the JAVA stack in the UME or not? i even tried to use Alert Configuration/Alert Inbox with the User ID: ddic & j2ee_admin, but it too didn't work...
I would like to use Alert Configuration/Alert Inbox with my User Id: pisuper, which i'm using to logon to the JAVA stack
while exploring, i logged on to the useradmin page i.e., http://p71:58800/useradmin with the User Id: j2ee_admin... If this is correct, can u pls let me know how can i add the necessary roles to my User Id: pisuper so that i can use Alert Configuration/Alert Inbox with my User Id: pisuper

  • No longer able to connect and use internet on any wireless network after upgrading to iOS 6

Everything worked great for the first few hours.  But now whenever I connect to ANY wireless network on my iPad, it connects fine.. When I do anything that involves internet, the wifi logo goes away, and a screen pops up (as if you're using a hotel wireless network) and says "apple - page not found" at the top, and is an apple.com page.  Even though there is no wireless symbol in the upper left corner, I can go to all of the links and everything, but outside of this one window the internet no longer works.
I have NEVER seen anything like this before.
I didn't do anything abnormal that would have caused this.
    Thank you.

I have sought help, posting on the forum at community.office365.com -
http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/158/t/212265.aspx. But I've got to a point where I believe the problem is more to do with how PowerShell is operating on the on-prem Exchange server.
Has anyone else come across this problem running the Hybrid Configuration Wizard?

    Hello Darrell,
Have you verified the settings of Powershell virtual directories for the on-premises Exchange Servers? The following article has a list of some common issues with that virtual directory and how to correct them:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607221(v=exchg.80).aspxI would take a look at the one titled "Configure Kerberos Authentication" specifically to ensure everything
    looks good.
As the article states you can run the Exchange BPA and it will check if any of these exist as well.

  • Need help configuring VPN - problems accessing the networks

Hi everyone, hope someone can help me out here.
I'm administering the network for our small company. We basically have two sets of machines - public ones with fixed net addresses (mail, web, dns servers, etc), and private ones behind a wireless router/nat.
Our main need here is to be able to VPN in to the public side, in particular, the mailserver, so that we can get around all the stupid things that get done to SMTP when we connect at the BedBug Inn ("Free wifi, administered by gibbons").
Secondarily, it would be nice to be able to connect to and browse some of the internal machines.
So here is what I did:
    * Installed 10.4.10 Server on a machine with two ethernet interfaces, one that has a public IP address, the other connects into the private network. When I'm actually at that machine, things work fine - I can browse the private network shares, connect to the net, etc.
    * Configured VPN. I have no problems getting a VPN connection, both sides are happy. The VPN assigns incoming clients IP addresses in the private network IP range, but outside those assigned by the wireless router's NAT.
    * Added 192.168.2.1/255 (the private network) and 12.17.29.193/224 (the public network) to the Network Routing Definition box under VPN/Settings/Client Information.
However, here's where it all falls down. Once the VPN is established, I can't connect to any of the public machines, and the only private-side device that seems to respond is the Wireless/NAT box (A Belkin N1). So the only thing I can do is administer the Belkin remotely, which, while nice, is not exactly what I had in mind.
Doing a traceroute while VPN is active to my mailserver shows the first hop direct to the VPN machine, then off into * * * heaven (though I have no idea if traceroute works over VPN!).
One curious note: when I change the order of the Network Routing Definitions so that the public network comes first, and the private one second, I can't contact the Belkin box.
Any advice, oh wise and powerful masters of technology?
Various, but the server is running on a G4   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    I said:
"let's assume I VPN to the wireless box"
    You replied:
"That's not correct as it is not the device running the VPN endpoint - in this case. "
But wouldn't I have to (on the VPN client) specify the public IP of the wireless box in order connect (because the packets are forwarded) to the actual OS X box running the VPN? Otherwise, it can't see it.
Part of the problem I have is that I can't dedicate a whole machine to VPN. The OS X machine running VPN is also running DNS, and will eventually run our mailserver and perhaps FTP, web, etc, as I slowly migrate stuff to it.
So this machine has to have a public IP address. It cannot be hidden behind the wireless NAT. And it seems to me that this is the crux of the problem. What I think you are telling me is that if the VPN machine was entirely hidden behind the wireless NAT, and had no direct public (WAN) interface, then since all the packets destined for the outside world (including my public servers)would have to go through the NAT, and all would be OK.
If so, then it seems to me that the best solution is to use something like OpenVPN on another OS X (not OS X Server, since I only have one of those) machine in the private network. Since the incoming VPN traffic will be Mac only, it shouldn't be an issue, L2TP-only is fine.
"Otherwise you have to run NAT and the firewall in the VPN server too and use private IPs for VPN clients - or use "only" it (remove the other NAT box and put it on the LAN only). Using only one device for NAT/gw means less configuration."
It is entirely unclear to me, in my setup, what effect turning on NAT on the VPN box (or perhaps, just IP forwarding) would have -- and if I do turn on NAT, would I still have the VPN assign IP's to clients in the internal private network's range, or would I use a different range (ie: private is 192.168.237.xxx, VPN assigns 192.168.239.xxx) and expect the NAT to handle the conversion?
I'm a bit leery of just trying it and seeing what happens because it if mucks things up so badly that the server becomes unreachable (via server admin), I'll have to schlep down to the office to fix it.
"Other things to consider is "bottlenecks" between your LAN and WAN."
Not a real issue. We have a small office, and a relatively small pipe to the internet. Most of the traffic from that pipe is from the public machines anyway. The traffic that goes through the wireless router is basically websurfing and hitting the mailserver.
I could, of course, use the VPN OS X machine as the NAT/DHCP server, and hang the wireless router off the internal network as a simple access point. But would that resolve all the VPN issues?
Once again, thanks for your helpful and prompt replies.

  • Configuring static routes at the network edge

We have some Cisco 1750 routers at the edge of our network which are running RIP. We were advised to use static routes on the router, since there was only one route (across a WAN link) for traffic to go from the hub connected to the router, as RIP would only waste the limited bandwidth to the router. We posted this problem previously and got a response which stated :You could set up a default static route on your edge router, run RIP on your internal routers in order to propagate the default, but block the RIP to the outside.
On your edge router, make a default route to your external link. Keep RIP running as before, but add the line redistribute static in your rip configuration. That will get the default route propagated.
Now to stop the RIP on the external interface: If the link is on a different major IP network to your internal network, you can simply not include it in the network commands under rip. But if it is in the same network, then RIP will be enabled on the interface, so you will have to add passive-interface xxxxx, where xxxxx refers to the interface carrying your external link,
Alternatively, you could define your default route using the ip default-network command. This will get propagated automatically into the RIP even without the redistribute command.
We tried it, the problem is that the router is unreachable, via the serial or Ethernet, although if connected to the router via console port, with the configuration screen , you are able to ping external locations, and are able to telnet into the router, but he PC's on the Ethernet side of the router cant see the network.
    Assistance\Advice requested.
attached you wll find , the actual reply , and a copy of some info from our work file.

    Ernie
I have looked at the config that you posted and I see several issues. The serial interface on Salvage is 172.20.2.2. Your message indicates that it is connected via serial to a 3640 which your message seems to indicate is 172.20.1.4. But that makes the 3640 on a different subnet. Connections over a serial link should be in the same subnet on both ends. (The exception to that is when you are using the ip unnumbered feature - which you are not). I suspect that part of your problem is that the routers do not see themselves on a connected subnet. When you run RIP over the link it can compensate for that to some degree. But when you stop RIP the problem has impact.
Also I see that you have a static default route as Kevin suggested. And in RIP you have redistribute static. But there is no default metric defined. To redistribute into RIP you need a default metric. Another aspect of the problem with the default route is that the next hop for the default route is 172.20.1.4, but without RIP running I believe that Salvage has no idea how to get to that address. You can confirm this by doing show ip route 172.20.1.4 on Salvage. I suspect that you will get an error about route not in table.
Beyond these issues I believe that there is a larger problem of misunderstanding. When I look at your original post in this thread it talks about not running RIP over the serial link. And when I read Kevin's response the first paragraph is describing not running RIP over the serial interface when it says do static default on your edge router and run RIP on your internal router. If you are not running RIP over the serial interface then I see no reason to run RIP on Salvage at all. There is one piece of this that Kevin did not address. If you do not run RIP over the serial link then how does the 3640 know about the Ethernet subnet at Salvage. I believe that the answer is that the 3640 needs to configure a static route to 172.20.27.0 with the 1750 serial interface as the next hop. And if there are other routers that the 3640 communicates with via RIP then the 3640 needs to redistribute static into RIP (remembering to have a default metric).
If you address these issues I believe that you will have connectivity from the central network to the remote subnet on Salvage.

    Rick
