No longer get a Signal. My zip code is 32421 in NW Florida

My zip code is 32421 in NW Florida, Just about the middle of the map, just below Interstate 10. I have been with Verizon since it took a portion of ALLTEL, was with Alltel since they took over another company and was with that company when they took over one. I have not personally changed providers in at least 15 years or more. My problem now is that my signal strength has become almost nonexistent where I have always been all these years. It seems like the fall of 2013 I had good signal but it started dropping. I finally change from a Motorola Maxx (I think it was) and now my wife has a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I have the S4. The other 2 phones on our contract (grandkids) both Apple 4's have the same problem. My son and his wife, who live next door and with Verizon also have the same problem and timeline. It is like a tower(s) have been out of commission for a while. My phone roams at times while in the house. If I have my phone set to announce when it loses the network or regains the network, it became to irritating to have to hear it. At one point we could almost use our cell phones exclusively at home. Now we are bound to landlines. I've never had any problem with Verizon but have become quite upset during the last 6 months to the point of trying something different when our contract expires. We are no longer getting the service we were getting with earlier contracts. Please help. Tell us what we can do or what Verizon is going to do to check this out.

The signal is ever so slightly higher outside as would be expected, but still not high enough, often enough to be depended on. In fact it is more prone to roam when stepping out of the house than inside. I have to drive several miles Northwest (approximately 7 miles) towards the intersection of Interstate 10 and SR 71 in the panhandle of Florida, just south of the town, Marianna. When heading east on SR 286 from SR69, through the Ochessee area to I-10 and then heading east for about 10 miles from the Apalachicola River are several dropout areas of low to no signal, but since we're moving it is for a very brief period of time. Getting back to my house though, the service that I had as late as last summer, both inside and out, has significantly declined. Just based on my driving from my house, it seems that a tower North of me has dropped. You can find these roads on Google maps, in fact you can find them by zooming in on the Verizon Coverage map, find Tallahassee in North Florida and follow Interstate 10 to the west for about 50 miles. The problem seems to be from SR 286 to SR 69 then to SR71. Along a stretch about 17 miles south of Interstate 10 in between these 3 intersections is where the problem seem most prevalent.
I'm not sure what you meant by follow and send a private message. The only option I see for me is "Reply". Please excuse my ignorance.

• What is up @ zip 87520? I can't get a signal on my Phone 4s anymore.

What is up @ zip 87520? I can't get a signal on my iPhone 4s anymore.

We can understand why you are concerned about the lack of signal, rudymentary. We are also concerned!
Has the signal returned? If not, please power off/on. When it comes back on, are you able to dial *228?
I don't have any other reports for signal issues in Chalma in the past 30 days.

• TS1646 I have entered my ZIP code correctly but it's five digits long and the Store "corrects" it to the nine-digit version, which my bank doesn't recognize.

I tried calling the support line for this and got hung up on, but the only thing wrong here is what the iTunes Store is doing--"correcting" my five-digit ZIP code to a nine-digit version my bank doesn't recognize. It's not like I'm going to change my correct billing address for this, so what do I do?

Have your bank put the full 9-digit zipcode into your records. The postal service doesn't require them, but they prefer them. It's very common to have the zipcode changed by online vendors to assist in shipping.
The problem is with your bank. Their software should know better.

• Zip Code errors

Hi there!
I tried buying a song off of ITunes today. The last time I purchased something was in early June.
However, when I tried, the login screen popped up and told me that "The zip code you provided does not match your bank's records."
When I log in and get my account info, the zip code is correct. I thought briefly that now they expect you to have those extra 4 digits on the end of the zip code, so I added them and tried again, but it then said zip codes have to be 5 numbers long.
So I've got no idea here. Yes, I know I can try another credit card, but there's no guarantee that would fix things and frankly, since all of my information remains the same (and certainly has since June, when I effortlessly made a purchase) I really shouldn't have to.
Any thoughts on why this is happening?
Thanks.

I have had the same problem now... but I think I know why for me anyways. On July 1, my zip code changed and my bank switched to the correct zip code. However many sites on the internet don't recognize my new zip code as being valid. When I plug in the new one it says my address doesn't appear to be in the US, but if I plug in the old one it says the address doesn't match bank records. So I'm going to have to call technical support and make sure they get the zip code correct, or just wait until they add the new zip code.
Hope this helps, but it doesn't sound like we're in the same boat, just same message.

• Verizon pulls out of zip code 49636

What recourse do I have if Verizon decided to shut down service to a tower that I use in zip code 49636?
I've been having problems with their on/off service since September 2010 and since purchased numerous new Droid phones, a new wireless card for my laptop. After multiple calls to their technical support over the last 8 months, all problems eventually got resolved by updated PRL updates, being taken off Hybrid mode, etc. Now NONE of my 5 phones or my wireless card, or my wifes phone and card or anyone else with Verizon has service.
5 calls into Technical Suport at Verizon and I finally got one guy (Zack) to tell me straight they pulled out service from their downtown Glen Arbor, MI tower and there is nothing they can do.
Am I simply screwed with no service? Can we get them to re-install service at their State Street tower? I can see the darn thing from my home, but "no service available".
Thank you in advance for your help. Had I known this none of the 5 phone on my plan (or my wireless card) would have been renewed.

You should have had at least had extended network available.
Can you go to a location that Verizon remained and update your phone with the programming *228, option 1 and then option 2.
If ATT truly did shutdown the towers (I agree with Budone that they shouldn't have done so.), you won't be able to program with *228 in an area without native Verizon towers.
The Alltel assets in the area may not have begun the process to rebrand into Verizon yet. They have to wait until ATT has finished their transition completely.
I have noticed that zipcodes in my area that were sold to ATT no longer go to the transition website when I try and use those zipcodes as my home area on the Verizon website. Based on that, they might be moving into the next step and should be starting the rebranding process in the next few months.

• Zip code progressive list selection

Here in Australia there are some 14k towns with zip/post codes. I want to start typing in a town name and when one gets close then use up/down keys to select the town, state and zip code. I do not want to type in the whole of a long name eg Melbourne before getting to East.
While I did discover a list filter routine written in java that does allow for the progressive selection of names, this downloads the complete list which in my case would be over 1M of data. One wishes to minimize this, quite apart from the wait time which would impact response to user time.
What processes, hooks and code can one use with XE - Apex 2.1 for this. Some sample code would be welcome.
Thanks in advance
Bob

Hello Bob,
You should search this forum for 'autocomplete', but the following can be a good starting point - AJAX, Javascript or just good coding? LOV that filters as you type?? .

• TS1646 Apple needs to remove the auto-fill feature for the zip code!!!

Keep getting an error that states my billing info is incorrect, ever since I updated to 7.0.2!
Appears to be the zip code or middle initial...

I am 99.9% sure it's the update that is causing the problem. The problem started for me after my first purchase once I updated on Tuesday. Oddly, but thankfully for some reason I had not updated my son's iPad to I OS 7, earlier today out of curiosity I attempted to make an in app purchase and it went through no problem still using OS 6. When I checked mine, I still cannot make purchases. Apple said earlier in the week it was my bank, then it must be that I am continuously entering info wrong. The info has to be correct if all the 1.99 hold charges they process for confirmation when updating payment info have shown up on my account. The question now is can they fix this a.s.a.p or how long can it take to get a patch if the cannot.

• The JPanel no longer gets a focus event after upgrading java version

I have started looking at an application, which I haven't developed myself. It is a Swing application which runs as a standalone application. It is currently running on JRE 1.4.1, but for many reasons we would like to upgrade (to 1.5.0).
During one of the actions that the users make is that he goes through a number of screens filling in details and then goes to the next screen. This has been done through having a JTabbedPane with six tabs. Each tab is a JPanel with various content.
At each page the user presses a button, which (among other things) sets the selected Index of the JTabbedPane to the next tab. The JPanel that is attached to the tab has a FocusListener, which does various load actions when the JPanel receives focus.
Now to the problem: In version 1.4.1 (up to and including version 1.4.1_07) these actions actually triggered the FocusListener event and ran the focusGained method as intended. Starting from 1.4.2 (and any 1.5 version I have tested) this event does not occur any longer (no code change, simply changing the JRE). My conclusion is that either the JPanel no longer gets focus or the event simply does not get triggered even though it should. What I can't figure out is why, what really happens and finally even more important, how do I solve this.
Any help is appreciated. The code is quite extensive so it does not quite fit in here, but I will provide snippets as requested.

"Evaluation" section will give you more info.
basically, you have to set a requestFocusInWindow(), but it needs to be
wrapped in a SwingUtilities.invokeLater(..), or, if that fails to work, inside a
timer, setRepeats(false), about 150ms.
From memory, it is only the timer that will work with the JTabbedPane, but
with newer versions, the SwingUtilities.invokelater() might now work

• Retrieve city and state from zip code that is entered by user

I am trying to use AJAX to retrieve city and state from a table based on a zip code that is entered by the user. Two are text fields (zip code and city) and one is a SELECT field (state).
1. I defined an application item called TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM.
2. I defined an application process called SET_CITY_STATE as follows:
a. Process point: on demand
b. type: anonymous block
c. process text:

DECLARE
v_city VARCHAR2 (100);
v_state VARCHAR2 (2);
CURSOR cur_c
IS
SELECT city, state
FROM ZIP
WHERE zip = v ('TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM');
BEGIN
FOR c IN cur_c
LOOP
v_city := c.city;
v_state := c.state;
END LOOP;
apex_util.set_session_state('P2_CO_CITY',v_city);
apex_util.set_session_state('P2_CO_STATE',v_state);
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS
THEN
apex_util.set_session_state('P2_CITY','Unknown city');
apex_util.set_session_state('P2_STATE',null);
END;

3. Javascript is defined in the region header:

4. In the HTML Form Element Attributes of the P2_CO_ZIP text item: onchange="pull_city_state(this.value)";
The city and state are not being populated. I checked the select statement and it is retreiving the city and state in SQL WORKSHOP > SQL COMMANDS.
I would like to use it for the mailing address as well, so I would need to make the application process / javascript a bit more generic to be used in two places.
I placed the application on apex.oracle.com:
Workspace: RGWORK
Application: Online Certification Application (28022)
Can someone assists, please.
Thank you,
Robert

Hi Robert,
Try using XML instead of session state -
Change the application on demand process with the following script -
>
DECLARE
v_city VARCHAR2 (100);
v_state VARCHAR2 (2);
CURSOR cur_c
IS
SELECT city, state
FROM ZIP
WHERE zip = v ('TEMPORARY_APPLICATION_ITEM');
BEGIN
FOR c IN cur_c
LOOP
v_city := c.city;
v_state := c.state;
END LOOP;
OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/xml', FALSE);
HTP.p ('Cache-Control: no-cache');
HTP.p ('Pragma: no-cache');
OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
HTP.prn ('
');
HTP.prn ('<desc>this xml genericly sets multiple items</desc>');
HTP.prn ('
' || v_city || '
');
HTP.prn ('
' || v_state || '
');
HTP.prn ('
');
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS
THEN
OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/xml', FALSE);
HTP.p ('Cache-Control: no-cache');
HTP.p ('Pragma: no-cache');
OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
HTP.prn ('
');
HTP.prn ('<desc>this xml genericly sets multiple items</desc>');
HTP.prn ('
' || 'Unknown city' || '
');
HTP.prn ('
' || '' || '
');
HTP.prn ('
');
END;
>
in your javascript make sure you typing the application process name correctly as it is case sensitive.
Hope this helps,

• Using AJAX to load city, state, metro area based on zip code

I'm new to getting APEX to work with AJAX properly. I've been reading some tutorials and trying to apply what they do to my situation, but I'm running into a problem. I have a text field item for zip code. What I want to happen is that when someone enters in a zip code, I want to use AJAX to populate 3 different select lists (1 each for state, city, and metro area) and to populate a checkbox (of neighborhoods based on the zip code as well). I'm looking at the examples in:
http://www.oraclealchemist.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/s281946.pdf
and
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:63
But they all use examples where the value of a text field item is used to populate 1 select list. I can't figure out how to apply that methodology to populate 3 select lists and 1 checkbox item. I've got all my SELECT statements written to populate these fields based on the value of the zip code text field item, but don't know how to convert what I already have to use AJAX.
Here are my SELECT statements:

Andy, cool. This is starting to make more sense. THANKS A BUNCH! OK. I've gone ahead and modified the on demand process to suit my needs, so I have:
begin
owa_util.mime_header('text/xml', FALSE );
htp.p('Cache-Control: no-cache');
htp.p('Pragma: no-cache');

htp.prn('</SELECT>');
end;It doesn't look like I would have to modify the appendToSelect function at all, correct? Is the checkbox that I need to populate handled the same way as these select lists? And it seems like I only need to make the 2 changes that you mentioned to get_AJAX_SELECT_XML function, right? So my javascript function should be like:
<script language="JavaScript1.1" type="text/javascript">
function get_AJAX_SELECT_XML(pThis,pSelect1,pSelect2,pSelect3,pSelect4){

var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$x('pFlowId').value,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=otn_Select_XML',0);
get.add('TEMPORARY_ITEM',pThis.value);
gReturn = get.get('XML');
var sels = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("select");
if(gReturn && l_Select1){
var l_Count = sels[0].getElementsByTagName("option").length;
l_Select1.length = 0;
for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){
var l_Opt_Xml = sels[0].getElementsByTagName("option");
appendToSelect(l_Select1, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'), l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue)
if(gReturn && l_Select2){
var l_Count = sels[1].getElementsByTagName("option").length;
l_Select2.length = 0;
for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){
var l_Opt_Xml = sels[1].getElementsByTagName("option")[i];
appendToSelect(l_Select2, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'), l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue)
if(gReturn && l_Select3){
var l_Count = sels[2].getElementsByTagName("option").length;
l_Select3.length = 0;
for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){

appendToSelect(l_Select3, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'), l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue)
if(gReturn && l_Select4){
var l_Count = sels[3].getElementsByTagName("option").length;
l_Select4.length = 0;
for(var i=0;i<l_Count;i++){
var l_Opt_Xml = sels[3].getElementsByTagName("option")[i];
appendToSelect(l_Select4, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'), l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue)
get = null;
</script>
And then since all 4 items (3 select lists and 1 checkbox item) are populated based on the value inputted in the text field item, I would only need to add the following to the html form element attribute of my text field item, right?
onKeyUp="javascript:get_AJAX_SELECT_XML(this,'P2805_STATE','P2805_CITY','P2805_METRO_AREA','P2805_NEIGHBORHOOD');"Denes, thanks for the example. It seems like what I need to do is somewhere inbetween what you have and what's in the example on http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:37. I have 3 select lists and 1 checkbox item that should all be populate depending on the value entered for the text item. Do I still need to split everything up then into a function and an on demand process for each select list and checkbox?

• Zip code Problem (or Frustrated with iTunes "Support")

I have been having a new problem (with an old credit card) on iTunes, where I get the repetitive error that the zip code I've entered does not match the one the bank has for the card. I have ensured that the zip code is correct and checked the bank zip code to make sure that that was done. I have made many, many iTunes purchases with this card, and not had a problem with the zip code previously, and I have not moved or changed the zip code since the last time I tried to make an iTunes purchase. It's not like the zip code would change itself. But I checked to make sure, anyway. I also contacted my bank to ensure there wasn't a hold on that particular card.
This I did before I contacted itunes support. An email to iTunes support explaining the above and specifically stating that the zip code in itunes for that card is correct, and 2 days later, I get a reply instructing me on how to change the zip code for the card in iTunes. I wonder if Apple has any idea how condescending that comes across. Who would waste their time with tech support for an error like that if their zip code was incorrect?
Now, I've recieved 2 more emails on the same track, basically telling me to fix the zip code. I am 100% sure that the zip code in iTunes is correct. I tried to tell the tech "support" person (Johan) this, but he has essentially only told me repeatedly how to fix the zip code on iTunes. (Again, Apple, if you're reading this, that is really rude and condescending, assuming your users are THAT stupid).
Has anybody ever had this error before, and does anybody have a fix for it?
Thank you,
Katy

I get the repetitive error that the zip code I've entered does not match the one the bank has for the card
Since you are seeing the same dialog repeatedly, try this.
Launch iTunes on your Mac.
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Reset warnings and Reset cache
Click OK
Restart your Mac, launch iTunes. See if you can download a free app. Regardless of whether or not it's free or purchased, you'll still see the login window.

• Safari 2.0 zip code bug?

This is a problem I've started to notice on a bunch of webpages (including newegg.com) with Safari 2.0. Many times Safari will not let me enter my zip code into an HTML form field because it starts with a zero (like about half the zip codes in the U.S. northeast). Let us say my zip code is 02142 -- when I enter it in, Safair "autocorrects" it to "2142" after the control loses focus. Nothing seems to undo this, and I can't find any setting that fixes it. So the site I submit it to says, "Hey, that's not a valid zip code!" I've tried it with Firefox and Internet Explorer and neither seem to do this behavior (so I often have to leave whatever transaction I was trying to go through, open up Internet Explorer, and re-do the entire transaction -- all because Safari doesn't trust me to know what I want to type in).
The HTML code from newegg.com which is doing this: So it's nothing in particular about the form coding that I can tell -- it looks like Safari is just assuming that because I'm typing in a number, I can't possibly want it to start with a zero. Which is just ridiculous in a large number of contexts.
Any way to turn this off? It is really getting irritating, and it's the sort of "application knowing what I want to do better than I do" idiocy which I think of being exclusively in the domain of Microsoft products. Which ironically don't seem to have this problem!
NOTE: I am not using an Autofill zip code. I am just trying to enter it in manually.

I can confirm this bug (isn't it irritating?). One solution is to use another browser; I've never had this problem in Firefox. Another would be to turn off AutoFill; even though you're not using an AutoFill entry, AutoFill seems to have this unfortunate effect on leading zeros entered manually.
Next time you run across a page that won't take your zip code, click on Safari/Report bugs to Apple and send a bug report. Maybe if enough of us on the East Coast complain, someone will fix it.
