How do I do this....'
Install discs for a specific model (the ones that shipped with it when new) only contain drivers for that model, and are unlikley to install on any other model.
To install on a different model, you need a "Full Retail" disc or be running 10.6.8 (which a PowerMac G5 cannot run).
All you need to get your data off it is Firewire Target disk Mode, and that code is in the PowerMac's ROM.

I can't remember my pass code and no longer have the computer my iPad was synced too
I can't remember my pass code. I've tyres to restore to factory settings but I no longer have the computer my iPad was synced too. Now my iPad is locked and I'm stuck.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
iPad,iPod,iPod Touch Recovery Mode
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.
Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software. -
Old ipod, can not get it to connect with itunes & i no longer have the computer it was once synced to. It will not allow me to do anything but turn it off & on.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -
I no longer have the computer I used to sync my Ipod Touch when it was new. Now the Ipod is locked and disabled and Itunes requests me to enter the passcode which I cannot do becasue the Ipod is locked! Any suggestions?
If you cannot connect it to the computer to which the device was last connected (or the device was never connected to a computer) you will have to use recovery mode to completely reset the device, losing all data:
iOS: Unable to update or restore - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 - recovery mode (e.g., cannot connect to computer last used to sync device, iTunes still asks for a password) -
I want to upgrade my iOS 4 to 5 on my Ipod Touch but I no longer have the original computer I used to sync with so it keeps saying I will loose all of my apps and stuff on my new computer..... I updated my iPhone software and now it is saying that I need to connect it to iTunes. I no longer have my computer with my iTunes on it. What can I do? I really don't want to lose my data! I wouldn't have updated if I had known but there was no warning.

Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.

forgotten passcode and I no longer have the computer I intially synced my ipad to itune with, how can I restore my ipad
You will still need to connect it to a computer's iTunes to reset it, and you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode in order to be able to do so : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If it's not a computer that it's been synced to then do you have a backup on iCloud that you could then restore from ? Depending upon what country that you are in, and whether the items are still in the store, you may be able to re-download some/all of your purchases via the Purchased tabs in the iTunes and App Store apps, and the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app. -
Hi, I need to sync my phone to our home laptop. Phone was synced to a Mac that I no longer have access to. Can I sync my phone to the home laptop (MacBook Pro) and not lose all of my photos and contacts??
Hi Michela27,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have content on your iPhone that isn't on your computer, the best thing is to use the advice in this article to transfer it to your new computer before setting up sync:

I found my old iPod that I haven't used since about 2010, and I no longer have the computer that the library was synced with. Is there any way to get my music off of it so that I can put it on my new iPod? The old one is a 30 GB from 2005.
CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

Hi everyone, I have received a new iphone today. I have an ipod touch but no longer have the computer it is synced to. How do I get my music from the touch to my new iphone? many thanks Anna-Marie
Joe Z in VA wrote:
First try this:
- Go on iTunes computer
- plug in the iPod
- authorize your device from store/authorize
- iPod / transfer from iPod by right clicking on the left pane
This will only transfer iTunes purchased music, not ripped CDs. and it is unnecessary now, as the music can just be downloaded from the cloud. -

I know longer have my computer because im taking time off of school. I have no way of putting fresh music on my phone and its bugging me. is it possible for me to sync my iphone to a friends computer and his itunes if his iphone is already synced to it, without it deleting any of his memory, data, iphone settings, or songs?
It will not, but syncing it will sync all of your notes, apps, songs, and email onto his computer. I mean that he will not see your email password, but he is logged in, and can back THAT up on his phone and steal it, but no, it will not.

I had music that i copied from disks into itunes on another computer, I no longer have that computer. Is there a way to get that music back from itunes?
ThanksIf you failed to maintain a backup copy, then you would have to import the disks again.

My iPod just randomly deleted all my music, but I no longer have the computer where I synced it to. Can I still get my purchased tracks if I download iTunes on another computer?
If for some reason you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you can redownlaod some itunes content in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
