No longer manage to copy music from iPod to iTunes

After the installation of iTunes 7, I cant find a way to transfer the music files from my iPod to iTunes 7.
YamiPod failed with error window pop up - "You have used this iPod with an unknown iTunes version, probably a new one."
Also I am failed by using the manuel transfer.
Any help, please?
Thanks

Hello Mitch,
I'm sorry, I answered that and didn't even realise it was you, I'm afraid I can't help you with any information regarding PC programs. My son's PC is out of commission at the moment and mine runs Linux. So far I've only checked out a couple of Mac programs, I tried Senuti and PodView on the Mac and both work.

  • Any way to transfer music from iPod to iTunes

I had to get new laptop and lost all my music from the iTunes I had on the previous lap top. Is there a way to transfer music from iPod to iTunes ?

Or you can do it the cheap way...
In the options screens, check "Enable Disk Use." Your ipod should then show up in your My Computer as a new drive.
In My Computer, go to TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS...>View [tab] and under "Hidden files and folders," choose to "Show hidden files and folders"
A new folder will pop up in My Computer's Ipod Drive letter called "Control" or something like that. You should be able to dig around in there and find a bunch of mp3s randomly named... Those represent your music files. Drag all the folders that have your music in it to the new computer's harddrive.
Now go into iTunes, "add Folder to Library," Choose the folder that you drug from your iPod and iTunes will import all your music as if nothing happened. Synch it up and it will transfer all this "new music" to your iPod, replacing the old music with the "new" stuff. You'll see... It's like nothing ever happened.
Please note that you'll lose your ratings and playlists... But honestly... Who cares??
    Happy transferring!

  • How can I transfer music from iPod to iTunes?

All of the music on my iPod nano is in my ex-husband's iTunes on a Mac. Now have a Windows PC and want to transfer music from iPod to iTunes. Computer says 'Need to Format disk in Drive E'. Will this lose everything? Not sure what the best way is to do everything but haven't got any way of backing up my iPod at present. Thank you!

any itunes purchased music can be transferred from phone to pc via hitting the "transfer purchases" option when u right click on the phone under devices in itunes on the computer when it is plugged in. any non-itunes purchased music is stuck on the phone and cannot be transferred to the computer. u will have to load it onto the computer from the original source or from the old computer.

  • Copy music from iPod to new PC

I have a new PC (old PC was stolen). I would like to copy music from my 30gb iPod classic to the new PC. I have followed all of the instructions for restoring the music, but when I connect my iPod and search from "My Computer", the only folders visible are: Calendars, Contacts, Notes, and Photos. There is no iTunes folder. Any idea what is going on?

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Copying music from ipod

    Hi
Is it possible to copy music from your ipod? Using the ipod as a backup to your computer.
    Thanks

Apple doesn't support the transferring of music from your iPod to your iTunes. Only iTunes to iPod. So to do this you will need to download a third party program that will help copy your music from your iPod back to your computer, or there are a couple manual methods you can check out.

If your iPod is set to automatically update and you plug it into iTunes, a message will pop up telling you that your iPod is linked to another library. It will ask if you want to sync and replace all your music. Make sure you hit NO. If you sync with an empty library, then your iPod will also end up empty, because when it syncs it makes an exact copy of your library.
I used a third party program and had no problems, it saved me a major headache, hope you find something that works for ya. goodluck

  • Trouble copying music from iPod to external HD. Please read.....

I downloaded Ipod Disk to transfer music from iPod to external HD and am having trouble. About 40 minutes into transfer, I get an error message. Some music can't be read. Are those the cds I have on my iPod that friends burned for me (as apposed to store/iTunes bought cds)? Is there a way around this?

If you are on a mac...
    http://wbyoung.ambitiouslemon.com/senuti/
Go to iTunes-->preferences and hit the advanced tab. Change the music store location to the external drive. Click ok. It should transfer the songs there.
    Does that work?
Also, I doubt it is a problem with the songs. (It could be, but it is probably the program. Senuti and YamiPod work (I have tried them))

  • COPY MUSIC FROM IPOD TO IPHONE

How can I get my music from my ipod to my iphone? Also calendar, photos etc

Music: If it's not already on computer iTunes, you need a 3rd party tool to transfer the music from iPod to computer. Syncing is one way only Computer -> iPod, iPhone, iPad (Exception: music purchased directly from iTunes using Apple devices can transfer without 3rd party tool).

  • Problem getting music from Ipod to Itunes

I have a 2nd Gen Nano and recently had to reinstall my operating system (Windows XP), which required me to back up my music. I had no external HD at the time and not enough discs so I sync'd my Ipod and stored all 812 songs to my 4GB Ipod. Now that I am back up and running, I have re-installed everything and again downloaded Itunes and authorized my computer (I only have one authorization left apparently, any way to fix this as well?).
The problem is that only songs I purchased from Itunes are in my Library. How do I get the 812 songs on my Ipod to my Itunes Library? I thought I could do it with a sync, but a window popped up saying that it would delete my current Library. I know little to nothing about computers so any plain speak will help. Thanks.

How do I get the 812 songs on my Ipod to my Itunes Library?
Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.

(I only have one authorization left apparently, any way to fix this as well?).
You can't do anything about that until you hit the maximum of 5 authorizations.
    From the iTunes authorization article:
+Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.+
+If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.+
+Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.+
+In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.+
+Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers, or if you have used this option within the last 12 months.+

  • Can I transfer music from ipod into itunes?

I know I'm probably clutching at straws here but thought I'd give it a try and throw the question out there! Stupidly I let my system be rebooted with the original operating system discs without backing up my itunes!! Is there any chance of transferring my music back using my ipod?? Thanks in advance

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to iTunes/preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'Command + Option' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.

Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
    Try iPodDisk.
Similar programs are Expod, Yamipod, Senuti and Music Rescue.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.
