No longer recognized
Oh me oh my. I've looked through thread after thread, and sorry for sounding redundant, but I still have yet to find the answer. I have found, however, that apple support is lackluster.
My issue:
I have a 2-month old Gateway laptop. I bought my ipod about a month before my laptop, and used it on my old laptop and then transferred it to this computer. Everything worked fine until about 2 days ago. My ipod no longer works. I don't even know what I changed or installed, and I've looked through E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. but I can't find the solution. Windows recognizes it sometimes, and it always charges. I've switched ports, reset my mini about 12 times, rebooted, re installed (I can't restore my ipod because the software can't find it). Please, any suggestions, I would love some help. All it does is charge - no song transfers any longer.
The same thing keeps happening to me. I am really sick of this now. Apple is absolutely no help. I've gone through everything but they keep saying it's the USB or it's the cable. The USB works for the printer and my cable works on my friends iPod. However my iPod still doesn't work on my friends computer.
When will they realise it's the iPod that's not working. It's two months old and this is the sixth time i've had to fix it........

My 4th Generation click wheel 40 GB iPod is no longer recognized by iTunes.
Hi There,
The title actually says it all..
(My 4th Generation click wheel 40 GB iPod is no longer recognized by iTunes 7.4.2, although the iPod works fine.. iTunes keeps saying to reset it, but I don't see why I should)
The iPod seems to work just fine, so I'm not in a big hurry to erase all my songs audio books etc..
I am thinking that this is a problem with Macintosh iTunes version 7.4.2, from what I'm seeing, but how should I proceed?
Many thanks for any help.
EricSounds like a dead battery. Take it into your local Apple store/Genius bar and see if there is anything they can do for you. Another option is to send it in to a third party repair company who can replace the battery at a pretty low cost.

IPad no longer recognized by any computer after 4.2.1 update
Hi,
my iPad is no longer recognized by any computer after the 4.2.1 update. It does not show up in iTunes and this even in recovery mode. When connected to charger it does not show that it would charge (but it does). The iPad is still usable except in the iPod app is says "cancelling sync" and does not show any music.
I already reinstalled iTunes, reinstalled the Apple Mobile Device Service, used different computers with different OS version, but it does not show up, not even in the system profiler (USB tab).
Any idea what I should do? I mean it is quite unlikely that there is a hardware issue as the problems appeared right after the 4.2.1 update (from 4.2).
Thanks in advanceYes I know, I already reset like 100 times. Turned off-on...
I guess a recovery could solve the problem, but how do it if the iPad does not even appear in iTunes. I guess it is somewhat stuck in "cancelling sync" and therefore will not accept an USB connection (the USB port behaves like it is deactivated). -

I had the exact same thing happen and you aren't going to like the answer/solution. One day my eSATA just disappeared, the DVR no longer recognized it. I unplugged, rebooted, reset, reconnectedetc. etc. and nothing. So I thought it was a DVR issue , after working with Verizon Customer Care Verizon sent me another 7232. I connected the eSATA to the new 7232, alas still nothing, it was not recognized. Turns out it was not a DVR/FiOS issue, the eSATA went bad (after 12 stinking days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Western Digital eSATA's are junk. I contacted Western Digital and they sent me a new eSATA (if it is still under warranty they will replace it for free BUT you have to pay all shipping costs), I connected that and it works just fine (but I am holding my breath, it has been 11 days since I connect the new one).
If the eSATA is bad you need to contact that Western Digitial, NOT Verizon. If it is bad it is not a Verizon problem.
And the Verizon In Home Agent is pretty much useless, that did nothing except waste a lot of my time. -

iPad Model MC349FD / Mid 2011 iMac 3.4GHz, 32GB ram, OS X 10.10.3Hello there, Blueye3355.
The following iPad Troubleshooting Assistant has some good steps to run through, to make sure you've covered all your bases:
Apple - Support - iPad - iTunes Assistant
http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/
If following all the steps listed there are additional options on the last step you might want to try or review the "if the issue persists" steps mentioned in the second part of:

IPhone no longer recognized by ITunes, and Service is not starting
Hi
My IPhone is no longer recognized by ITunes. I already tried the steps on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495, but had no luck, and I also tried to remove all relevant Apple software and reinstall, but this did not result in anything either.
Now, also, if I start up ITunes, it tells me, that the "Apple Mobile Device Service" is not running. Trying to start this service by hand, did not work. Following the rules on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 did not work.
I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit, my ITunes version is 9.0.3.
This is my third PC in this household this has happened (i switched the PCs after it appeared on my other PCs), and I am simply not willing to do that again.
Please, if anyone has an answer, it would be greatly appreciated.
cheers, Rolandhttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT2553 as a last ditch effort but if it has been recognized by computer before and you did everything in HT1923 and TS1495 then i would say like msconfig stuff or disk cleanup and such.. it would be worth it to contact apple tech support if HT1923, TS1495 and HT2553 doesn't work.

IPod no longer recognized by MacBook Air
Yesterday I purchased a refurbished iPod Photo. It worked fine yesterday - I synced it with iTunes and was able to place 20g of music on it. Today I plugged it in, and it is no longer recognized by my computer, but still charges. I tried resetting both computer and iPod. I reinstalled iTunes. When I forced my iPod in to disk mode, it did not recognize that it was plugged in to my computer - instead of displaying "Do Not Disconnect" it stated "OK to Disconnect". I tried it on two different computers, and had the same issue.

I have 3 older ext. hard drives that I've utilized many times. Today while searching for old files, one of the three is no longer recognized by my PowerMac. The drive is not listed in Disk Utility. Any suggestions?
Is the computer in you equipment line:
Dual Core Intel Xenon
(which is not a PowerMac but a Mac Pro) the one you are asking about, or do you have an older PowerMac?
If a Mac Pro, their forums are here:
Mac Pro
and, as Mac Pros have a totally different architecture from the pre-2005 Macs this forum covers, you may not have the same issues that can affect the older models. If someone didn't notice your equipment line, you could get advice that doesn't apply.
If you really have a pre-2005 PowerMac, read on.
If the stubborn external is USB and does not have its own power brick (i.e., it gets power only from the computer's UBS ports--"bus powered"), it may not be getting enough power. As electric motors age, they can demand more power than when new, and the power available on any USB port is limited.
The typical workabouts to making a computer recognize an aging, bus-powered USB drive are:
Get a powered USB hub (has its own power brick
Get a "Y" USB cable: 1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
The second gets power from two USB ports on the computer and often that's enough.
Remember that the USB ports on your keyboard seldom provide enough power even for a thumb drive, so be sure to use the USB ports on the back of the computer. -
I upgraded from iPhone 3GS to iPhone 6. Everything converted fine. Yesterday I deleted an app in error. When I downloaded the software it from iTunes ( did this many times on the old 3GS), my account is no longer recognized by the app's host servers (Playtika), even though it did after the initial conversion. Can I go back and re-sync just one app from my old phone?
Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

Cinema display 30" no longer recognized by my mac pro. Until now it worked without problems, then after a crash it fails to recognize the display.
Now it runs in a far lower resolution. What can I do?
I tried to get da driver for it, but could not find any.Try the other DVI port on the graphics card. On early Mac Pros, only one port is the dual-link DVI needed for full resolution on the 30" display. Make sure the display's USB cable is plugged into the computer.
