No luck copying regions

Hi,
Ive tried option click to copy regions & all it does is drag the region. any help?
Ive managed to do it via the local region menu but would like to be able to do it either way.
cheers
Rob

Hmm, I had overlooked that there was a small error log created. It says
sieve: info: started log at Apr 06 04:05:53.
main_script: line 8: error: require command: unknown Sieve capability 'imapflags'.
main_script: line 8: error: require command: unknown Sieve capability 'notify'.
main_script: error: validation failed.
Line 8:
require ["fileinto","envelope","reject","vacation","imapflags","relational","comparator -i;ascii-numeric","notify","body"];
I removed those and tested and it works (at least with one simple test)

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • Weird copying region behaviour

I wonder if anybody else is familiar with this behaviour...
Normaly you copy a region by using the ALT key and dragging... this creates a new region with the postfix .1 which is independend of the original region.
When you add the SHIFT key (used (by me) to copy the region at exactly the same position on another track) it creates a copy, but it DOESN"T add the postfix. If you edit the length of this (copied) region it will also alter the length of the original region... If in the meantime you changed the position of the 'new' region, you're not aware that you're also editing the original...
Very bad 'feature' in my opinion. I should think the use of the SHIFt key should only affect the dragging behaviour. Or it should say so in the new region that it isn't a copy but the same region... It ****** up many a song for me in the past until I finally tested today what was causing this...

    maybe...
I remember in 'the old days' (I'm not sure if it's the same key combination) you could make ghost copies... Yes, they were (are?) usefull, but they used to look very different... I remember something like --> added to the name and an italic look to them... This made it very clear that you were dealing with the original... Now I realy have to look carefully that I'm not ******* up anything somewhere else in the song...
I would say that aligning the new region the way you want it and changing the way it's copied are two different things and should have two different key combinations -or have their workings be added to the name / look of the new region.
Again, now I know what exactly the problem is, but it took me a while to find out why my songs / edits got so ******...

  • Copying region from a pdf document

In previous versions of Acrobat Professional (v.6 and before) it was possible to copy a region from a document either as an image or as a text (if avilable) depending on the choice of the tool. I didn't find this possibility in Acrobat 8 Standard, is it still available in any of the current Pro versions?

    Many thanks, Lori!
It works and this feature is available in Acrobat 8 Standard. Great help to me and my collegues. Apparently v.8 has some OCR features built-in and can recognise text area using object tool. Hovewer it makes a mess with images and the snapshot tool really saves a day here.

  • Copy Regions

For some reason I can't copy or cut a region. When I select it the copy or cut doesn't work. I'm trying to pull the region over a little but when I do it places it in the wrong place and splices the track before it so I figured it would be easier to cut and paste but that doesn't work either. I would just copy each individual track and pull it over but I am assuming the pans and volume changes will only pull with the track if you do it by region. Any suggestions?

I think a region is what you name at the top of the tracks to distinguish between chorus, verse, etc? Correct? That is what I can't copy, cut or paste. I can select a bunch of tracks and copy and move or whatever but not the region. Does that make sense? I figured out my other problem. I had a blank spot at the beginning of the region so when I moved it, it was moving that too, and screwing me up. If I am using the term region wrong what should I be calling it?

  • Easy way to copy regions from 1 song to another?

    Hi,
So - if I open up 2 songs at the same time on my PowerBook G4 laptop, and want to copy one region from 1 song to the other - and have the region paste EXACTLY where it was on the other song - how do I do that easily?
So far - every time I click on one song, and then the other - ESX24 instruments for the songs take tons of time to RELOAD, every time I click back and forth from either song. Also, this is video/film score - so to paste exactly from one song to another - I don't know exactly how to do this.
    Any help? Thanks!

It was a late night - so a confusing post makes sense... let me try again:
I am using all MIDI regions - and only using the stock set of 'instruments' that ship with Logic 7.1 on the ESX 24.
I have 2 versions of Cue 6. The director came over and likes certain things from version 1 and other things from version 2.
So, I decided last night to take the first version and color all the regions green. Saved that. Then I did as iSchwartz said to do above - quit Logic... then booted it up again with 'controll' held down. Then opened up my new green version 1 and version 2. I then proceeded to copy each track in vers. 2, one at a time - and 'paste at original location' on my new song - or version 1. The SPL was not in any particular spot - as I ussumed from iSchwartz's post above that the command "paste at original location" does exactly that on a chosen track selected.
I don't know how I can select all at once - in vers. 2 to move to vers. 1 - and then edit from there and create a new version. Moment to moment the director likes one thing from vers. 1 and another from vers. 2.
I decided to SMPTE lock everything before copying also... and tempo is the same in both song files.
    Hope this is clearer... thanks!

  • Option dragging to copy regions

I'm finding it really annoying that when I want to option drag a region to copy it, the dialog box that tells it's current location doesn't show up until I start to move the region. It would be helpful to know that before I start moving.

This sounds like you have might have turned on one of the "accessibility' features of OS X..
    or...
Did you install something else just prior to this problem occuring? It could well be the cause of the issue if you did so.....

  • How to copy region, without copying region based automation.

Say I wanted to copy a region to another track, for instance the track below.  If the region that was going to be copied had region based automation, say modualtion or pan region based automation.  Is there a way to copy the region, but not the region automation on it?
    Cheers

if the automation is MIDI data within the region, then no, you can't copy without the data. It is very easy to delete the info after moving it. Just select, for example, 1 instance of cc#1,Then "select similar" from the edit window, then delete. Repete as necesary for other controller types.

  • Copy regions and track settings?

Is it possible to copy all of the regions, and track settings from one project to another?

  • Copy regions and settings (plugins, mixing/volume/pan, etc) to new project

    Greetings,
I am a brand new logic user and I am scoring my first film. I have two problems, one of which is addressed in the subject heading, and the other I will address now.
I didn’t realize until today that my synchronization settings were set to 25fps and the movie I am scoring is set to 23.98. This was causing huge problems when I would send the editor a cue, and he could not sync it up. I have read many posts, and I know that once I change my fps to 24, then it should be able to sync up just fine with the 23.98fps. However, because I was running my first few cues at the wrong fps, I now have to start these cues all over at 24fps. I was on apple care support via phone, and the kind person told me to set up a new project as “music for video (ntsc).” He then told me to copy the regions from my old cue and drag them into the new arrange window. I have done this, and here comes the questions:
    1. After dragging the regions from the old file (where I was running at 25fps) to the current project (which is now set to 24fps), I could only copy the music- my volume, pan, and reverb plug-ins did not copy. How can I copy everything over so I don’t have to manually adjust my mixer and reverb settings? If you know the answer, please guide me through it...I am really new to Logic!
    2. Now that I have copied the music to current project (24fps), is there a metronome conversion so I can change the old speed of running at 25 fps to 24 fps or should everything sync up automatically? My metronome is set to 104.2000 in the old cue.
I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.
    Best,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
Since I don't work in film, I can't answer any of the SMPTE questions, but regarding question #1...
Go to the audio configuration window of the original cue. Under the Audio Configuration windows edit menu, select "copy".
Then open the new cue (the one set at 24fps), go to it's audio configuration window, and under the edit menu, select "paste".
This should copy all plug-ins. volumes and pans. Only do this is all your audio instruments between the songs are the same, which I will assume they are, because the audio configurations "paste" function will replace everything in the current song. But based on your description, this is what you want to do.

  • Manipulating Copied Audio Regions

Here's what I am unsuccessfully trying to do...
I want to be able to cut and/or copy several regions of audio that is on track one and paste those regions anywhere I want into track two but in a way that it doesn't effect track one's original audio file.
I can successfully split track one into slices and copy some of these slices into track two. But if I try to move or change the length of these copies it also changes the regions of the audio on track one! I know there has to be a simple (or another) way to do this but I can't figure it out. What's worse is I am out of town on the road and I didn't bring my manuals with me. I can't find the answer in the help manual either so I thought I'd ask for help here.
    Thanks in advance,
    Greg
FWIW, I personally am loving Logic 8 and since coming from Logic 3 through 5 (PC) I can say also that I really like the re-designed interface.

Yea, good point. I just assumed "destructive editing" when I initially read the post. But option/drag will work just fine simply for resizing a copy of a region, or using a part of a copied region else where in the song, without affecting the original region, even though it's referencing the same audio file.

  • Copy of regions change the notes

Ok, I`m new to Logic. Just started using it a month ago.
Everything has worked out well until now.
I started working on a new song yesterday. As usual i have some parts (midi regions in instrument tracks) that are played several times. I just copy them with rightclickAltdragging. Now the regions change when I copy them like that. The new copy will have most of the same notes but some notes change pitch. What is going on?

WOW!! I had the same problem and viola, the global transposition track is FULL of changes. Whats odd is that I never use the global transposition track, only transpositions in the region parameter box.
This is a guess, but this problem seemed to occur when I selected all regions and normalized all transpositions (as I liked them and wanted it to become permanent). Could this be a bug? I'm going to look into it further, but WOW, what odd behavior. Thank you iSchwartz for pointing this out!! I thought I was going insane! "This isnt what I wrote, is it...."
BTW, these problems only occur when option-copying regions. Duplicating regions did not change transposition. Weird.

  • Copy favorites from Windows 8.1 folder to Bookmarks

I just restored my backups from Carbonite to a new computer with Windows 8.1 (old computer was Windows 7) using Firefox. I kept a folder of my bookmarks in my documents. How can I get them into the new bookmarks? I found a folder called "bookmarkbackups" in my Profiles, but I don't know if I use that, or how to copy it to the current bookmarks. Or - is there a different way to do this? Thanks.

Regarding importing IE Favorites, you probably would have the best luck copying the contents of your old Windows Favorites folder into the new Windows Favorites folder. Then you can export an HTML-format file from IE and import that into Firefox.
Importing an HTML-format bookmarks file adds onto your existing Firefox bookmarks. But you need to do it after you do the restore mentioned in the earlier post, because a restore wipes out everything present in your Firefox bookmarks.
    * Export favorites from IE to an HTML file: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/add-view-organize-favorites (Export Favorites is one of the topics listed at the bottom of the page)
    * Import the HTML file into Firefox: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file
    Success?
