(No .Mac Acct.) Can I still publish with iWeb?

I don't know much about iWeb. I already have a webpage and domain name and I am thinking of buying iLife but only if I can publish to my existing domain.
Sorry if this question has already been asked but I didn't find a similar question anywhere in the iWeb discussions.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jamie

domain.
If you have hosting space at your domain, of course, you will be able to use iWeb to design your pages. Then through iWeb you will save the website files to a folder on your desktop. And from your desktop you would use an FTP program to upload the site files to your webhost server. There are some tips from Tom Gewecke here on this page for hosting iWeb pages on a non-.Mac server...

Good luck and enjoy iLife (especially iWeb) when you get it! If you have found any of this information to be useful to you, please take the time to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I'd really appreciate it!

  • Can I still publish with a publisher after getting an ISBN through ibooks author?

Can I still publish with a publisher after getting an ISBN through ibooks author?  In other words if I publish my book digitally with you while it is out to pubilshers and one of the publishers want to pick it up is there any issue with that? Is it considered previously published?

Well, as a much published author in the traditional sense I would see it this way. Publishers like control and if you exercise your digital rights and publish with an ISBN then you will be limiting what they can do - unless you then agree a digital rights deal. Personally, anything I publish as an ebook I assume is not goint to get published traditionally unless of course it makes big buck and is then optioned. Don't worry about it - if you want to continue pitching books to publishers do so but come clean when they write and say they want to publish you - if they dont then no loss on your part. Honesty is the best policy here.

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

  • Using CS5.5 Master Collection for MAC, I can't use "Replace with After Effects composition"

Using CS5.5 Master Collection for MAC, I can't use "Replace with After Effects composition" because I updated AE to CS6 (but only AE). Even that AE CS 5.5 is still installed, it won't connetct.
    How can that be fixed?
Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

Thanks for the answer: I tried different ways (after I read your suggestion) but it always changes back right away ... I can't change it.

Maybe try associating AE project files with 5.5 instead of 6.

moving a drive with OSX to another computer? take it out of my Mac pro laptop and into my mac mini. can it be done with no OS/Hardware issues?

When I work with a drive to boot many computers, I use the newest model computer I will be booting, and set the system up on that, run all the Apple updates. Normally I will have no issue booting any older computer with the same drive. Unless of course those older computers do not support the operating system on that drive.
If you want to test if the drive will boot the mac mini. Put your MacBook Pro into target mode. Connect the two computers together. And on the Mac Mini, go into system preferences and then under start up disk and see if the target disk mode computer's drive shows up there. Seelct that drive and restart. See if it boots ok. A bit easier then taking the drives out and moving things around.

  • If you do not have imessage enabled, can you still text with people that do?

I just updated my iphone 4 to the ios5 software, but disabled imessage because I have heard that it is unreliable. Can I still text with people that do have imessage enabled on their phone?

iMessages are only sent as SMS if iMessage is unavailable and "Send as SMS" is enabled in Settings.
Settings -> Messages > Send as SMS
I do not believe this is enabled as a default setting.

  • How can I still edit my iWeb site on new iMac

My mid 2007 24" iMac which has served me well has memory problems. I now work with much larger projects ( Logic Studio + video ) than earlier, and have to continually keep clearing the memory as I work. I have the maximum  4 GB RAM  ).
This is halting progress so seriously that I'm considering changing it for a new iMac .... 27".
My question is: How can I still edit my iWeb site on a new iMac, when iLife is no longer included, and so presumably OS 10.7 doesn't support iWeb ?
    Will be grateful for insights.
    Thanks,
    SeaDream.

Well thanks. Sounds so complicated, though. Would another option be to backup my present Mac HD ( with Snow Leopard ) to an external HD and simply edit iWeb from there ?
As long as I also backed up this external HD, would this be a possibility ?

  • Can you still publish your website to .Mac if your mac account expired?

    Hi,
My .Mac Account recently expired, and I did renew it. I was wondering if I can still publish my website to .Mac.
    I have iWeb 1.1.2.
    Can someone please help?

If the account expired and you didn't renew it you can't publish to it anymore unless you do renew it.
.Mac isn't free, thus you have to pay to use it, thus if you don't you can't use it anymore.

  • Can a webpage made with iweb be published only to .mac?

I need to do a webpage for a school project and get it online. My school's website has a designated page for each student, so if I make a page I can put it there permanently. The only thing is that I don't know how to use dreamweaver and iWeb looks very easy to use, but I looked up the tutorial and it only said how to publish a page to a .mac account. Is there no way to make a page with iweb but load it to a different domain name than a dot mac one?

I looked up the tutorial and it only said
how to publish a page to a .mac account.
You read that incorrectly. Lots of people put their iWeb pages on other servers. Here are some tips:

  • RSS/Podcast Feeds...Can it still work with Dreamweaver?

Hi all...I've grown out of iWeb and am moving onto Dreamweaver.
With that said...I am still pretty much a newbie (and a consumer) when it comes to web authoring.
Can I still use iWeb to update and publish both my blog and podcast feed even though I am switching my site to Dreamweaver? I want only those two pages (blog and podcast) to be authored in iWeb because it makes it easy to publish.
Does anyone else have experience with this...or the best way to do it?
    Thanks!

Sure you can. Just keep publishing your blog and podcast to .Mac or to a server of your choice. Then publish your dreamweaver pages to either .Mac Homepages (in the Sites folder) or to the same server of your choice. You can then provide links back and forth to the iWeb and Dreamweaver pages and vice versa to keep things looking like part of one big site.

  • I moved to overseas and bought a new Mac. Can I still log into my Australian Apple ID?

So, I have a Macbook Air (13 inch, Mid 2011, Version 10.10.1 Yosemite).
It's running out of space and kinda getting old. So I want to get a new Mac Mini because I can get hold of a cheap good quality screen, keyboard, and a mouse.
The problem is that I have moved overseas. I'm no longer in Australia. I won't be back in Australia for quite some time.
So my question is, could I still access my Australia iTunes and App Store while I'm overseas even if I buy a new Mac Mini and try to use it outside Australia?
Because when you first fire up your MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, or any other Apple products, they ask you to pinpoint your location.
I would love to have access to stuff on Australian iTunes store. They have what I need and and also the Australian stuff that you can't get off other country's iTunes store. Plus, I have already purchased so much stuff off iTunes and AppStore.
So, please someone help me out here! It would be much appreciated. Otherwise, I will have to ask a friend of mine who still lives in Australia to buy a new Mac Mini and fire it up and pinpoint the location in Australia and ask him to bring it with him next time I see him.
    Cheers!! Have a good one!

The physical location of your Mac is not relevant to your Apple ID's actual region setting.
You will be able to log into your account and keep all your previous purchases just fine.
If you are going be maintaining an Australian Payment Method for your Apple ID, then you should have no issue with your past purchases on your new Mac.
If you use iTunes Gift cards, they will need to be from Australia as each country gets specific gift cards that can only be used with Apple ID's from that country.
Its technically not legal to buy from a store of a country you are not actually in. But I don't know of anybody who's actually not been able to do this.
All in all, you should have no issue, locating the new Mac wherever you are now, but still use your Australian account.

  • All buddies on macs, but can only vid chat with some

I'm using panther and iChat2, they're all on tiger and iChat3. Just switched to BT homehub, before I was using speedtouch 330 also provided by BT. I can still vid chat to son in Alaska, but can no longer vid to son in London (who's also on BT). I can't vid chat with my ex in US. My ex can vid to Alaska, but not to London, London can vid to Alaska - but only occasionally. The problem is always user did not respond. We can all IM each other. I checked with BT and they say they're not blocking port 5060. I've read the technical stuff (and been daunted) but it seems that since all of us can vid chat with at least one other person the problem is unlikely to be the settings on the computers. Beyond that I'm baffled! Help please.
    emac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

A question I have for you is what kind of connection are all these people on. A lot of times if I try to video chat to someone on tiger but they are connected wirelessly I'm able to connected sometimes but other times I cannot. They are located a block away from me, not accross an ocean. You may not be able to get a speedy enough connection to keep up with the demand. What are your uploads at these times? You also may want to try to set the Quicktime settings, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed. You want to set what you get from your ISP go no higher then 1.5mbps(dont use automatic)
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to NONE.
    Restart iChat
