No mac apps store app on my mac with snow leopard

Can I download it somewhere ?

Exactly, reinstalling the 10.6.8 combo upgrade didn't work neither did reinstalling SL completely. I downloaded Lion from my macbook pro and put it on a dvd.  see http://lifehacker.com/5823096/how-to-burn-your-own-lion-install-dvd-or-flash-dri ve
Now if I install Lioon from the on SL does anyone know if it'll fiix the boot problem of my imac) I described earlier?

Apple Logo, left hand side of the menu bar, About this Mac. It should be right there. If not then More Info, Sys Info.
But it would seem you don't have 2GBs installed and more then likely both RAM slots are already filed. So you just need to buy more RAM in a pair. That could be 2 1GBs chips or if your Mac can have more then that then 2 2 GB chips or 2 4GB chips.
Get your model # and go to Crucial.com and use their memory search to find out how much your Mac can have installed and the price for it. I suggest you install as much as it can take. Cost is very low on RAM these days.

  • Sony e reader prs 600 not showing in bookmark pane on my new Mac with Snow Leopard

I have a brand new sony e reader prs 600 it is supported but I am unable to see it on the bookmark pane in my new Mac with Snow Leopard is it something to do with Snow leopard?  Or why can I not see my sony e reader?  thank you

According to the Adobe website ADE 1.7.1 is compatible with Mac if you
look at system requirements and with the Sony reader if you look at
supported devices.  Though it doesn't mention Macs latest O/S.
and if I download an Adobe digital editions book, can I then move it
to Sony's ebook software, or is the format unsupported on the Sony
    Ereader?

  • Installing Lion and formatting my Mac (with Snow Leopard)

    Hey everybody!
I have a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard.
I want to install Lion from the App Store and format my Mac. How should I do it?
    Thanks!

    Aha!
The proper way to "clean" a computer before selling it is to zero the hard drive. This will make all your data irretrievable.
Steps for zeroing the drive Disk Utility:
    1. Insert your Mac OS X CD-ROM disc or Restore DVD disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key until you see the spinning gear.
    2. Once started up from CD or DVD, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from disc to access Disk Utility.
    3. Choose the entire disk (top icon).
    4. Choose erase tab.
    5. Click on Options
    6. Choose "write zeros".
    7. Erase
This will take a bit of time because the computer is physically writing zeros to each block.
You should then re-install the original OS from the system disks and deliver the Mac to the new owner with the system disks that shipped with it.
If you want it to boot as new at startup, do the installation of OS X and follow the onscreen prompts until it asks you to enter a username and password to create your first account. Quit the installer and shut down the system. The next time the system is powered on it will display the same welcome message and be ready to setup OS X.
Or you can delete the AppleSetupDone file.
    rm -rf /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

  • DVD Player app won't work with Snow Leopard

I installed Snow Leopard recently. I tried to watch a DVD with DVD player. It wouldn't work. I got this message in a box: "You can't use this version of the application DVD Player with this version of Mac OS X. You have DVD Player 5.0.3."
I looked for a recent DVD player update/download and could not find one. Same with Snow Leopard updates...
Does anybody know the fix or the workaround?
    Thanks,
    Estel Dillon

    HI,
Download and install the 10.6.2 combo update available here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959
    Then repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
In the future, when updating system software, click the Apple Menu  /Software Updates. If that doesnt't work then go here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and use the standalone installers.
*The DVD Player application is not available to reintall from the SL disc*. If after the suggestions above haven't helped, then back up your important data before you do anything, then reinstall Snow Leopard.
You can reinstall the following apps from your SL disc.
    Address Book
    iCal
    iChat
    iTunes
    Mail
    Oxford Dictionaries
    Safari
    and X11

  • How do I transfer files from mac with snow leopard to a new retina display mac

What is the easiest way to transfer files from my old mac(2008) snow leopard to my new retina display mac book pro?

Easiest? Well there is some sort of wireless transfer thing, but I hear it takes FOREVER like several days and it's glitchy.
The Retina doesn't have a Firewire port I believe, so Target Disk Mode is out, unless you have a adapter and I don't know how well that will work out. Cost another $30 for the adpatper I bet.
    The likely most easiest?
Run down to any computer or office store and pickup a powered external USB hard drive that's the same size or larger then the old Mac's boot drive.
Boot the old Mac and download Carbon Copy Cloner.
(or use the TimeMachine if it asks, but it takes a reallly long time and if there are problems, then it's harder to recover files from)
Format the external drive in Disk Utility with Partition: option GUID and OS X Extended Journaled (default setting)
Use CCC to clone OLD A boot drive to External Drive B, takes about a few hours depending how much stuff you have.
Hook up drive to new Mac, (either clone or TimeMachine drive)
Use the free Migration Assistant in your Application Utility folder to transfer over, but creates a new user account (you can later delete one)
Or if you haven't set up the new Mac yet, when you do set it up during that process, you can transfer from the External Drive B and it won't have the account you set the machine up with naturally just uses the ones from the clone or TimeMachine drive.
Once your fine and dandy on the new machine, then Disk Utility erase and use the external USB to create either a bootable clone with CCC or a TimeMachine drive for backup.
Since you need a backup drive anyway, this method is better and happens to be reliable and easy.

  • Running CF9 and CF10 together on Mac with Snow Leopard

This may be a very basic question, but I am trying to set up CF10 to run alongside CF9 on a developer installation on my Macbook with Snow Leopard. I can see both administrators, CF9 on localhost and CF10 on 127.0.0.1:8500. It seems that both are runing on JRUN because I can't run CF10 without having CF9 running.
How do I set up a site to run on CF10 only? I can't figure out how to set up the virtual host files to have the site determine which version to run. If I set up the virtual host in Apache2 httpd-vhosts.conf file, it seems to run the site using CF9 and it breaks because it has to run on CF10. If I set up the server.xml file as if it was using Tomcat, then it seems to break the ability to get to the administrator app in either CF9 or CF10 to run.
Any ideas out there to help me?

Do you mean like this? First, copy the URL. Next, open up TextEdit. Here, you can paste the URL. Next, highlight the URL, right click it and select "Make Link". After that, press the arrow key or click in a blank spot on TextEdit. Select the link, and type in the new name of the link. You have now successfully created a hyperlink.

  • Dictionary App doesn't work with Snow Leopard

Hey,  just upgraded my Macbook from leopard to Snow leopard and now the apple dictionary app is too out dated. Where can I find an update for this app so that it'll work with snow leopard?

Not sure why the proper Dictionary didn't install with the upgrade. One option is to install it now from the disc using Pacifist.
    Read Kappy's instructions for using.

  • Adjustment brush not working on new Mac with Snow Leopard

Just purchased a new computer a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if something is incompatible or something else. I'm can't remember if the brush ever worked on the new machine. Also updated to Snow leopard 16.2 during this period.
I see the adjustment brush and can change it's size and feathering, flow and density are set at 100%, masking is off, it set down control points, but that's it. It makes no visible changes to the image in any mode. If I put exposure at 4 stops and place it on a mid-tone there is no change to the image, either in Lightroom or upon export.
I've run permissions checks, trashed the preferences and repaired the drive with Diskwarrior all to no avail.
Lightroom 2.5, Power Mac 2.66 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon, 6 GB of factory installed memory, Snow Leopard 16.2
Should I try a fresh install of Lightroom??

    Sorry,
My post above should have read Mac Pro. I recently switched and keep getting the names mixed up. Doesn't help that they look the same.

  • Buying a new mac with snow leopard vs. lion?

I've been saving up to buy a Macbook pro for sometime, to make the PC to Mac switch, and after the announcement of lion I've been considering waiting to buy a new Macbook until lion comes out. I'm not entirely sure about this decision though because of new OS bugs and the like so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on waiting until lion comes out to buy a Macbook or just buying now while snow leopard is still out and wait to update to lion in the future.

As Paul indicated, there's no sense in waiting. Lion, while announced, still has not received a release date. In addition the current architecture (Sandy Bridge) is the latest and greatest. Intel and Apple are always working on new stuff, so even if you wait for Lion there's a new machine being assembled in China the day you purchase the "latest and greatest."
Another thing to consider is compatibility. With any new major release there's going to be problems/issues and existing software compatibility issues. As a "switcher" you'll also need to purchase new software, as just about all of your existing PC software will not be compatible with OS X (Snow Leopard or Lion for that matter).
Personally, I don't think there's any compelling reason to wait. Apple does not always release new hardware with a new OS.

  • Can i download icloud on my mac with snow leopard?

Where do i find the icloud download for my mac?

You can't download it - you need Lion (which includes icloud); you can purchase it at the app store as long as your iMac is a Core 2 Duo and has a minimum 2 GB RAM - mind you, that is an absolute minimum: 4 GB would be much better.

  • I have installed firefox3.6 on my mac with snow leopard, but firefox will not open when I click on the icon.

It seems that firefox installed correctly, but then it wouldn't open. I restarted my computer and still the same problem. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still the same problem.

    Also having the same problem.
I have tried the following with no luck.
*Uninstalling and deleting profile + profile.ini then reinstalling
    *deleting the .parentlock file
    *deleting and reinstalling version 3.6.8.dmg
*Checked the activity monitor that the application isn't listed as running
    *Downloaded addtrap and uninstalled again
    all with no luck.
Try some of these first as they might fix your problem but not mine! ;)
If anyone knows of something I may be missing I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks
