No mail IN or OUT w/Bellsouth DSL
Moving my OS X Tiger Server from cable to DSL to save a few bucks and gain some speed. Though everything worked fine with the cable hookup, I haven't been able to configure things appropriately (apparently) to work with BellSouth FastAccess DSL (residential w/static IP).
Register.com handles my DNS and my MX records have been updated. I can get out to the internet with no trouble. And, websites and SquirrelMail can be accessed with no trouble. But outgoing mail stays in the queue after connections time out... and, no incoming mail is ever received.
The Westell modem has IP passthru enabled... and the Mac is set to the static IP.
Any clues as to why mail won't work?

Register.com uses "X-Hi" to "X-Low" for MX priority designations. These translate appropriately from smaller values to larger. So, "Hi" would evaluate to 10, whereas "Med" would equal 20, etc. The MX records for the server point the the A Name (IP address).

Mail won't connect through Verizon DSL
I've been using Mac Mail for 2 years now without any significant problems. I use an imap account for most of my mail. We just got Verizon DSL at home, and I have no problems with the connection through an internet browser, however my Mail doesn't work any more. I ran the Connection Doctor which says the program is connecting to the internet, but the preferences are set up wrong. I haven't changed anything except the internet provider. I've heard Verizon doesn't support Macs very well, I'm just looking for a way to overshoot this problem.
Thanks!You need to find out from Verizon what the "incoming mail server" is and what the "outgoing mail server" (SMTP) is. Then put those in your Mail account settings.

Apple Mail and Exchange Out of Office Not Working
Has anyone had issues with Yosemite Mail and setting Out of Office for Exchange 2010?
I can set Mail to send Out of Office replies but cannot change the scheduled dates from 2/12/1982, 10:00 AM. Even when I do set it, it does not seem to send the OOO notifications. I can set it just fine on my iPhone 6 and Mavericks Mail worked fine for setting the OOO.
I deleted my account several times and reset it and I can get all my Mail back just fine but OOO still doesn't work correctly. I wanted to try to change the server settings but Mail doesn't allow you to do that for auto connect Exchange accounts.
Because of this (and my concern with reported issues with updating meetings), I switched back to Outlook 2011 until these bugs get ironed out. This is too bad because I love the notifications feature for Apple's programs.
I'm running on a 2014 13" MacBook Pro.Same issue here. I can see these error messages repeating when I'm trying to change the date.

So how do I get notified of updates in this forum? As I said: I don't understand the thing you call LIVE BOOKMARKS I have never used them, and most forums I have used notify VIA E-mail not giving out my E-mail address, or other private information when a reply has been made to the thread in question, so how do I get notified of updates in this forum? After 10.9.4 Update/MacBook Pro with Retina display: Mail Messages Grey Out Upon Deleting-Don't Move to Trash? I believe I must join those who are having trouble with mail after this latest update. Deleted messages just turn a light grey in the message panel and don't move to trash until after I quit and restart mail. I have also experienced the screen "Freezing" ... no spinning beach ball, just the pointer frozen. This has happened only when I use mail and requires a "hard" re-start to correct. Is this a "feature" of the update, or is it a problem? Thanks!Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
Back up all data.
Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.

Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select

Every time I use the sideshow feature of Yahoo Mail, it locks out the Yahoo Mail when I try to exit the sideshow feature and I have to sign completely sign out of Firefox to have the feature restored. Even using the refresh key, it removes this feature and causes it to act as though I am not authorized to view the feature. Is there something that I need to set?
I think the problem lays with Last.fm. I had the same exact problem as you. In your processes screen, end the task "lastfmhelper.exe" Last.fm still scrobbles. The tracks don't skip, although I notice there is still a bit of a lag in the first part of the song - but if you can deal with that, no skipping. I think you will have to end that task everytime you boot up your computer, or uninstall last.fm completely until they fix it; it is a bug in their software, as opposed to iTunes.

I just reset my apple ID password and now all the imap folders in Apple Mail are greyed out. I can see the contents, but I don't get whay the folders are all greyed out. Can anyone help? Sorry for the long title on this message...
Assuming this is an iCloud mail account, sign out of iCloud in its preference pane, then sign back in with the new password.

Which mail service are you using and what is your incoming server address? Does it require a special port?

I've been having problems getting my e-mails. My pop box provider said that there is no problems their side and that Mail is timing out before it has connected to their server. I've had a look at changing how long it is until Mail times out, but can't find any way of doing so. Is it possible to change it and how do I do so?

LucyThere is no way I know of to change how long it should take for Mail to time-out. What you could do is try to fix whatever may be causing Mail to require so much time to establish a connection to the server.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Try also turning OFF all the network port configurations except the one needed to connect to Internet and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Try also using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc.
Another thing that may cause Mail to time out before the server responds is having too many messages on the server...
BTW, if the version of Mac OS X on the computer where this happens is not the same as appears on your profile, then this is certainly relevant information that you should have provided from the very beginning. I, for example, am not familiarized with Mac OS X 10.2 and didn’t reply to you before just because of that. -

Connection doctor says all accounts are connected.
I have two email accounts setup and my business one appears to be ok (can reply and send ok).
The main account has the "send" button greyed out.
And now my F4 button does not open the set apps e.g. calender/calculator etc instead it opens "manage widgets"

There is no such option/setting on an iPhone to determine this. Whether you can view the attachment has more to do with your connection, WiFi or cellular, and the size of the attachment than anything else. There will be a paperclip indicating the message includes an attachment regardless if downloaded with the message or not. When connected to the cellular network, if an attachment is below a designated size the attachment will be downloaded automatically. If over a certain size, you must select the attached file icon in the body of the message to download the attachment. The size limit varies by carrier/provider.
