No master audio

I’m not getting any audio in Garageband. I’ve got the volume up on the control next to the track clock, and I can see the volume monitor (or whatever the thing with the green and red is called) right above that pulsing with each metronome beat, but I can’t hear anything.
I’m currently trying to use an electric guitar with an iMic, and I set it up under Preferences in Garageband and under Applications->Utilities->Audio/MIDI. I can see the volume monitor going up and down whenever I hit a note on the guitar, so I think it’s registering the signal. The Real Instrument Volume (under the input drop down box) is grayed out, but I read that it is not used on some instruments. Is guitar one of them?
Also, on the Track bar for the instrument the volume is about halfway, and again the monitors there register when I strike a note. So I don’t think it’s a problem with the instrument or iMic setup, since I can’t hear the metronome either.
Any other ideas?

  • Copy master audio settings?

So... I've set up an HD sequence, and spent ages creating the master audio settings for all the audio tracks.
Then I realise that I want a smaller sequence so I can zoom into some of the footage.
I can't change the sequence settings to a different size.
So can I copy the master audio settings from one sequence to another?
    Many thanks, Linda

I have the same question - is there any way to copy the "Master" track's curves?

  • T420 and Dolby TrueHD / DTS HD Master Audio Passthrough / Bitstream

I am having trouble getting Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master Audio to bitsream from my T420 and hopefully you guys can shed some light. Currently I am using a displayport->HDMI adapter to input into my Pioneer Elite vsx-21txh receiver which in turn outputs to my 50" Toshiba TV. I can bitstream standards DTS and Dolby Digital no problem and get discrete surround sound, however when I try to play sources with DTS HDMA or Dolby TrueHD, the receiver doesn't recognize that there is a lossless signal and still decodes only the core DTS or DD.
I'm running windows 7, my receiver supports the HD lossless audio formats, and according to the "Playback device" properties on the T420's HDMI audio device, it also lists "DTS HD" and "Dolby TrueHD" under its encoded formats. My Nvidia driver is a bit old (268.71), however I don't think that is the issue...
Has anyone had experience outputting HD audio on the T420? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Might be the NVS drive they updated and I tested it recently after its been out for very long time. See my Thread on it which is still current.

  • No Master Audio buss?

I've just spent the last hour or so trying to get something done using it.... no luck - total waste.
This is gonna sound like a rant so I apologize ahead of time... it's not directed at anyone in particular. I'm just venting frustration that Apple has clearly aimed this product at newbees and left us pros out in the cold.
There is not even an stupid 'save' button... so EVERYTHING I 'try' ends up being saved and their do/undo scheme does NOT work for everything!
So if I want to 'try' using an audio option it starts a stupid 'background process' and I cannot kill it... even if I choose to 'undo' what I chose to do that caused the background process to start.
Oh, and by the way... no master fader?  Come on!  No master mixer access?  Really Apple?  How is one to 'optimize' the audio level for a project?  Adjust each and every audio channel in the project and bring them up or down to have the master level be high enough?
Or are they gonna force me to export my project to some 3rd party app and expect it to 'compress' and 'limit' the master audio signal?
This should be able to be done within the program without having to go elsewhere.
How about at least giving me the option to using VST plugins?
I'm giving up on FCPX for now as it's too buggy and clearly not ready for prime time (IMHO).
Maybe when the next update comes out it will address some of these issues.

  • Master audio volume keyframes ignored in export - why?

I had the audio set to fade-in at the start and fade-out at the end via key-frames. During the preview works perfectly. Export to QT (H.264) and the audio fades are ignored... So, then I go back to the individual audio file and adds the fade keyframes to it. Erase the keyframe changes on the master audio track. Playback is good in both the preview and exported movie.
Why is Motion (2) ignoring the keyframe edits on the master audio?

You must set ducking clip by clip.
Also, the ducking seems to be set as a percentage of the volume of your main audio track. If your main audio track has some loud noises, the ducking will be a percentage of that, and your music may still overwhelm some of the softer sounds of the voice track.

  • Master audio level goes "red"

I just want to know what it means when my master audio level goes up to the "red" level and wont come back down until I pause the clip? Also does this effect anything else within the video such as other audio levels or quality?

What that means is there was some point in that clip where the audio peaked in the "red" level. Which suggests carefully monitoring this during playback for where that appears, or perhaps applying some sort of limiting or compression effect on the clip.

  • Master Audio Level Not Showing

My individual audio levels show but the master is on and off.  When I get it, I can't figure out how I got it.  Any ideas?

with me, I was trouble shooting Premiere CC 2014.2's inability for proper 5.1 sound mix.
I can hear all audio tracks fine, and all tracks display in the audio mixer except for the master is displayed intermittantly. It makes for trouble shooting Premiere's inability 2014.2 to properly map the Lfe channel pretty tough when the master 5.1 track will not display.
WIth 2014.2 the Lfe bleeds into the left front track.
I have trouble shot this (along with many others) before and got nowhere. A recent awakening of one of those threads had me retrace my frustrating attempts. Further frustrated when I could hear the Lfe being bled into the front left channel, knew it was bleeding, but could not see any channel in the master output, only could see input channels.
my trouble shooting was diverted into just getting the master audio track to display the 6 channel output of the 5.1 audio.
After actually  locking in the master audio output display, all attempts were futile to achieve proper 5.1 audio mapping.
I paste a link to one of the many threads here.

  • How to master audio file handling? Where is the logic of Logic?

    1. How can I master where to save my logic project files including audio?
    2. I want to save a project as a template WITHOUT the recorded track files. When I open the new template I dont want to have all old audio in my "media"browser inside Logic! How?
    3. I have one old project with a lot of audio of which only a few are used, yet when I try the cleanup function only a few are erased. Why?
    4. How to save a project so that ALL the files used are saved inside that project folder. In Protools and Cubase you can erase all material you  dont use.
    5. I want to have all my audio saved in ONE project folder but they end up scattered somewhere else, what to do?
I can never get used to the apple/logic sense of file structure. Crazy! Where is the logic of Logic?  /Helpless to the logic of Logic 8

    Hi
If I understand the problem correctly?
    jrm1 wrote:
The possible issue concerns the start of the audio files.
I recorded the tracks down to a stereo file, a region, that appears to start in the arrange at the correct point. But when you record, Logic includes some recording before the start of the region, before the Anchor, correct?
This can depend on how you did the "record down to a stereo file".
If you routed tracks to bus channels, then recorded the bus to another track, Logic will include the count-in in the audio file. As you say, the region in the Arrange will be correctly "trimmed".
One solution would be to convert these bounced regions to new audio files (Audio Menu), another to use Bounce Region (or track) in Place.
Alternatively, use a manually placed "2 pop" 2 seconds before the start of each cue.

  • TV@nyWhere Master Audio

    Hi,
When I switched to DP35 Intel mother board the installation of tv@nywhere master card seemed to be successful, but when I tuned the tv channel I could find video signal only NO Sound at all. All drivers are NEW, MSI PVS was installed prior to Card installation as advised by MSI team. I also uninstalled the Codecs, but still no Audio.
Secondly PVS3 programme shows Audio Source " CD Player" while I'm using "Line In" of Mother Board. There is no other option available for Audio Input. System DP35 Intel with 2.66 Mhz processor, MSI 8600 GTS Diamond Plus, Modem and TV@nywhere Master Capture Card. Xp professional with SP2.
    Any help will be appriciated.
    Bye
    Ork

does your motherboard have an audio input connector (similar to that found on optical drives)?
As I advise in my lengthy sticky topic, you should connect a cd audio lead from the tv card to the audio in connector, if there is one
Also, check in Windows Volume control, and under Recording settings, make sure the Line In control is ticked

  • [TV@Master] Audio Problems

I am having Audio proplems with my MSI TV@nywhere Master:
    1. The tv and fm play at a verrrrrrrry low volume.
I tried playing around the volume control settings(like increasing the vulume sliders) but the vulume of the tv/fm is still low even if the sliders are on their maximum levels.
    2. The audio/volume stays on when I close the tv/fm tuner.
    3. The audio is ahead of the video(the video plays in slow motion)
Any ideas as to how to solve these problems, aspecially the first one ?
If you've encountered these problems(especially the first one) and solved them, please share the solutions with me.
    Thank you,

I had a similar problem recently.
I tried running the sound directly into my soundcard (Creative Live 24 bit), the sound stayed on after closing program, audi video out of synch on captures.
Reverted to running sound into capture card then from capture card to sound card.
    Problem resolved.

  • Master audio mix

Is there a way to control my audio output using one master output. For example. I would like all my final audio from all my clips to output to  a single compressor as well as a limiter. I can't find any master mixer.

Make everything into a single compound clip and apply the effect to the compound.

  • [TV@Master] Audio capture problem.. urgent

    hi,
i´m trying to capture a video to my computer but it happens this: the audio does not play correctly...
it starts with 2 seconds of audio then it stops and the video goes on..
i´m using Composite for capture and using MSIpvs.. it used to work... now it doesn´t... with any tape...
i´ve WIN XP PRO and motherboard ASUS K8V SE DELUXE with audio integrated. AMD 3000+ 64 bits
    help?
    best regards

I did download and install it. No Joy. I went back and tried ot uninstall and reinstall the drivers. I am now getting an error when I run the install program. It appears there is some kind of problem with Installshield installer. I am getting a "1608 error cannot create an installatin instance". Installsheild has several suggested solutions. none of them seem to be working. What the heck is going on. To quote an unnamed presidential "EEEIIIIAAAAAACH"

  • How can I make a synced audio track match the length of selected clips in a multicam seq?

I have a continuous multicam sequence of about 13 minutes containing a synced master audio track recorded from seperate microphones. I want to rearrange scenes from it into my final sequence, but when I select a range of clips to nest the entire length of audio gets pasted into the new sequence. I want to trim the audio to match just the clips I've selected but not lose sync. Is there a way to do this or is nesting not the way to chop up a sequence and rearrange the scenes in it?
    Thanks.
    Mike

Me too!!!  I have a multicam sequence from 2 cameras with the audio staying on camera 1. I also have a seperate, continuous  audio track recorded from microphones which I have synced to the timeline. I'm trying to select a group of sequential clips of different camera angles from the timeline to create scenes which I can insert into a final sequence but in a different order from how they are on the timeline. Let's say I want to take a series of clips that start at 3:30 on the timeline and go until 4:30 on the timeline.  It will contain several cuts between the different cameras and I want to use that section as the first scene of my new sequence. If I select all of the clips in that time period and nest them into a new sequence, I only get the audio from camera 1 on the new TL. If I try window selecting those clips to include the continuous audio track, I get a new TL with 3 minutes and 30 seconds of the desired audio, then the video clips, and then the rest of the audio making a 13 minute TL. I just learned, after searching around, about marking in and out points on my multicam seq. and using the trick of "LIFTing" and then "UNDOing" to keep my  multiseq intact, and then pasting into a new sequence. That works, but I'm only getting the audio track from off the camera. It won't select and lift the section of the other audio track that I want. I'm rushed for time so that's the way I've ended up finishing the video for now. The camera audio is just going to have to do although the mic recording is much better. The more I try to explain this the more confused I get and I'm sure everybody reading it does too. Any ideas?   Thanks!

  • Is there a better way to re-render audio waveforms (after changing media files)?

I'm shooting documentary footage on RED cameras at 6K resolution.  That generates a large amount of media.  The RDC format records R3D media files in 4GB chunks, which is actually relatively short compared to my hours-long media captures.  I've discovered that it's very handy to simply delete the R3D files from the RDC folder in cases where nothing is actually happening at that moment.  Since each R3D media file is timecode stamped, these actually stay in sync with my master audio track.  And Premiere Pro sensibly places gray diagonal bars where the underlying R3D files are missing.  All good.
What's not good is that Premiere Pro confuses itself about the starting point of the PEK files.  Instead of simply greying out the part of the audio waveforms that are missing due to the missing media, it shifts the *waveform* to start at the location of the first R3D clip that is present, which is wrong.  If I clean the cache, quit the project, restart the project, and let it rebuild the cache, the audio waveform is correctly drawn.
An ideal fix for this problem would be for Premiere Pro to recognize that if it re-links media it should re-render the audio PEK file.  An OK work-around would be to make it easy to just re-render the PEK file for a given media clip.

A slightly quicker way to do what you described for an images is to select 'Duplicate version' instead of 'New version from Master' and then 'Remove adjustments' from version 1. This will leave you with the first version as the 'before' and the second version as the 'after' without having to use L&S.
If you need to do this for 108 images, it might be quicker to do the following:
Export Masters for all 108 images.
Reimport these into a new project (called 'before', for example)
You will then have a new project with the 'before' images and your original project with the 'after' images. You could then build an album to group all of these together. When you've finished with the 'before' & 'after' images (build your web gallery or emailed them or whatever), simply delete the 'before' project.
    Regards,
    Steve
