No master pages applied because MasterPageMaps table contains no mapping information

I use FM8 and DITA files to create my books. I have tired in the past to apply masters automatically but have not been able to. Now that I create books from xml, it is even more important to automate this process. I use structured FM and have deleted and re-created the StructMasterPageMaps in my file. I created a book that has my one test file so I can experiment quickly. In that file I have a Master page defined as Chapter_cover which I can apply manually no problem. In the StructMasterPageMap, I refer to the paragraph tag title.0 and the right-hand MasterPage Chapter_cover and set the range to Single.
When I then select the book and try to update the master pages (Update book->Master Pages->update), I get the error "No master pages applied because the MasterPageMaps table contains no mapping information.
I have searched the forum and the archive and found an instance similar to mine (Jun19/07), but no clear resolution was found. I have tried the suggestions made therein such as re-creating the MasterPages reference page, which I have done. And I am sure that I have typed them correctly (case sensitive etc).
What could be my problem? I could send the book since it consists of only one 2-page fm file.

Further to this problem, I found that if I create a brand new file, import the structure definitions and then refer to E:title in the StructMasterPage table, it will apply the Master page, but not when I refer to the paragraph tag title.0
So I see that I am close, but I cannot use the Title element since it is used by all the tasks in the real files. Only the title.o paragraph tag will flag the first page.
Does anyone have any suggestions why the p tag does not work while the element does?
I have tried defining E:title or title and p:title.0 or title.0 to see if that made a difference, but it did not.

Create a blank page without custom master page applied,left navigation,top navigation

hi,
i am having a requirement where in i need to a show a report- which is actually a 3rd party tool's custom web part -. this web part is a report which has lot of metadata. so customer doesnt want to see the custom master page
or left navigation, top navigation, right nav in this page.
is it possible to achieve a blank web part page that doesnt have custom master page applied- i mean this page should not inherit the my custom master page- and just add the custom web part here.
help is appreciated!

Table containing Model Data Information

Many fields are therefor quantity in table MSEG like.... 'MENGE' , 'LSFMG' , 'BAMNG' , 'ERFMG' etc.
But no field is giving the perfect data.

Whcshdata.htm Contains No Mapping Information

I have a FM project linked to RH, but for some reason, some of the help systems I am outputting do not contain the mapping information (Topic IDs and Topic #s) in the whcshdata.htm file.
The book is a single-sourced FM project. All the FM chapters exist in one directory. But there are three FM book files used to create three different outputs. Many of the chapters are shared across books, some chapters are unique to a specific output. So, keep in mind that many of the chapters share the same topic aliases.
All of the FM books have been successfully linked in RH to create three help systems. In all three instances, when I open or export the default map file, all of the correct topic aliases are there.
However, when I compile the help systems as WebHelp output, only one of the three successfully generates the mapping informatoin in the whcshdata.htm file. In the other two systems, the whcshdata.htm file is there, but when you open it, no mapping information is contained therein.
I have followed the same procedure for all three systems/linking, so I don't have any clue why I'm not getting this data.
Can someone help? I'm on a deadline to deliver these projects and it's a big issue.

Did you select the map file you want to use in your SSL settings?
Make sure you have selected all the map files you want to use or your output will indeed not have any CSH information.

Need table containing specific PSA information

I'm hoping this is an easy one, that I'm just missing somehow.
What SAP table contains the field where I can check if a PSA request has been loaded above the PSA level. Basically I need the first column in the list (Request Updated) when you manage on a datasource and see the list of PSAs. It seems like Iu2019ve found nearly every table that contains PSA information, but the right one. Thanks

Firefox frequently crashes on any page, maybe because of plugin-container.exe

Firefox seems to be randomly crashing with no regard to what page I view. It can be anything from a Google results page to a page with multimedia playing. Every time, I get the same crash report, but I don't know how to fix the problem. To my knowledge, I have removed all unnecessary plug-ins and add-ons.
Firefox has also been running unusually slow and often freezes on web pages for several minutes. I have FF set to clear all my browsing data when I close it.

How do I apply a Script to Master Pages?

Hello,
Please can anyone tell me how to run or edit this script correctly?
I have a simple Find and Replace script that ran perfectly on CS2. Now I am running in CS4 and only the first part of the script works which applies the documents pages, but the second part, which applies to the master pages, does not.
I tried running the CS2 script from “Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\en_US\Scripts\Scripts Panel\Version 4.0 Scripts” and it still does not work on the master pages.

Depending on your needs, you might be able to loop through all the docs
in the book, and apply the A Master a to all blank pages.
That would be an option. But is it not possible to insert a master page instead of a blank page while updating a book?

Object appearing on pages applied with master page

I'm doing a multi-page brochure and I've got all my master pages set up. on the odd pages applied with master page 'A,' a colored rectangle appears when I print that is not on screen on my master page 'A,' nor is it an object on those pages. it also appeared on a pdf that i sent out.
I can't get rid of it! I've tried to delete the master page 'A' and create a new one (made a copy of a master that didn't have issues), then applied that to the odd pages. no luck.

Thanks Al, you've been a busy ID user over the years. Me, I've only been using it for a couple years and I always seem to learn something new every day. Thanks for your help, and I'll continue to read further into the threads. There's always more than one way to skin a cat, we all know that, so there are multiple ways to fix the problem at hand. Some of my spreads hold large photos that actually go right through the spine of the spread, and yet the two pages of the spread can actually have 2 different master pages applied. So, I've got to figure out which way is best..whether its moving the master page items away from the spine or if splitting up the pages is better (not exactly sure how that will work yet with large spread photos). I'll look into it more later, when I have more time. Right now I'm on deadline (monthly magazine), and for a quick and easy fix, I can switch master pages off and just copy the master items over to each page spread where I need them.

Repeating Table in Master Pages

Hi =)
I'm having some trouble with a dynamic xml form I'm creating.
Inside a page I have a repeating table that allows the user to insert a new row (max 4 rows).
All I want is this page to adjust nicely to the size of the repeating table.
Since I've read that it is not possible to change master page size through javaScript, I've created a page set with different sized master pages that adjust to the different number of rows.
I tried to set some conditional breaks to change from master page to master page accordingly to the table size. The thing is, whenever the user adds a row, the two master pages will appear. The first one blank and the next one with the table.
I think I only need a way to make the previous master page disappear.
Can someone give me some advise?

I'm trying something different: I want to make the blank pages disappear by changing the position of the Pages in the Page Set.
Suppose the table only has 2 rows.
The script on the click event of the button "add row" is the following:
     //Adds an instance to the row

     xfa.form.form1.page1a.pageSet.Page2.pagePosition = "first";
They don't work! Why? Does anyone know?

Master page Dynamic data not getting displayed in consecutive pages

Hi,
   I have buit a dynamic form which has some dynamic content in master page and a dynamic table in the body page.
Layout is
Master page
      Sub form
             Field1 -TextView
             Field2 - TextField      bind with Node1--->Attribute1
             Field2- TextField       bind with Node2---->Attribute2
            Field n - TextField
all the text fields are bound to various nodes from RFC
Body Page
         Sub form
              Table -Grows Dynamically
When i run the application all the fields are displayed perfectly in the first page.
when the table data goes more than one page the problem arises
The Text fields in the master page is not displaying the values in the second page ,but the text views and the table values are fine.
The values are getting displayed in both pages if i put any attribute inside the parent node.Is there any property i need to set at node level or subform level?

Master Page is used for static content as per SAP and Adobe like company logo and company address footer section and placing watermarks etc....
I feel because of the Dynamic behavior in master page it Leeds this problem.

Search for master page usage; better way to use master pages?

I am using Frame 9. I have my files set to always have an even number of pages. For chapters where the text ends on a right-hand page, I assign a custom master page to the final left-hand page -- this custom master page has our logo on it. However, because my files have a lot of conditional text (3 different versions of the publication get generated from the same source files), the lengths of the chapters often change when switching between different conditional versions. So for example, for version 1, I assign the custom master page to the last page of the chapter, which is page 28. Then when I switch my conditional text settings to show version 2, the chapter is now 36 pages long, but my custom master page is still applied to page 28. I have to remove it from page 28 and reassign it to page 38. Here are my questions:
1) Is there a way to search for pages that have a specific master page applied? I hoped that I could generate a list of master page usage using the Special > List Of > References option, but apparently not.
2) Is there any way to get Frame to automatically assign my custom master page when it is appropriate, rather than doing it by hand for each conditional version of each chapter?

To identify master pages that control pages in body page view, create an identifier on each master page, as you'd create a watermark with text in a background text frame. Control its visibility with either a condition, or by assigning it a color that's invisible in a color view.

Master Pages and Buttons - Bug and Fix Request

I think I'm the only person in the world who has encountered this bug, and I've filled out the bug report form on the Adobe site twice in a couple of years.
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered it, and I'm curious to know if it still exists in Creative Cloud (I'm still using CS6). However, I think this bug appeared in CS5.5, prior to that, results were as one would expect.
So here's the gist of it . . .
Prior versions of InDesign allowed you to put a button on a Master Page, then upon export to PDF the page number would be appended to the button name. CS6 appends random numbers to the button names on export. (It seems the number appended to the button names is the instance count of the button in question.) This problem becomes incrementally worse if you use different combinations of master pages, some with buttons and some without.
Steps to reproduce bug:
Create a button, named "menubutton" and add it to a master page
Apply that master page to 10 pages.
Export the ID file to PDF enabling buttons and interactive elements.
Check the button names in the PDF from Acrobat
Results:
In CS6, this now appends the page number, and an arbitrary number to the button name. CS6 results are like such: "menubutton.Page 1", "menubutton.Page 21", "menubutton.Page 32", "menubutton.Page 43", etc.
Expected results:
The button names should become "menubutton.Page 1", "menubutton.Page 2", "menubutton.Page 2" , etc. (As in prior ID versions)
The problem becomes a lot worse when you use combinations of master pages . . . for example:
Master A – contains one button – menubutton
Master B – contains one button – otherbutton
Apply those masters to alternating pages, like below and export to PDF, this will be the crazy result:
Page 1 (A)        “menubutton.Page 1”
Page 2 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 2”
Page 3 (A)        “menubutton.Page 31”
Page 4 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 41”
Page 5 (A)        “menubutton.Page 52”
Page 6 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 62”
Page 7 (A)        “menubutton.Page 73”
Page 8 (B)        “otherbutton.Page 83”
So, can anyone else attest to this? It makes scripting buttons incredibly hard!

1. I would definitely make a copy of the EnterpriseWiki.aspx page layout and make changes to that. You can then set your pages to use your custom page layout. Typically, I provision these via Visual Studio and a module for uploading them to the SharePoint
master page gallery.
2. For the master page, the html version is new to 2013 and is meant to simplify branding, however, it's not required. You can still work within master pages and provision those via features if you'd like. The key is to create your own master page and never
modify the default.

Master Page Mappings

Hi, fellow FrameMaker enthusiasts.
My template contains reference pages on which elements are mapped to master pages. When I open an XML file in FrameMaker, FM asks me if I want to apply the master pages to each page in the document. This is tedious and time consuming in a ditamap containing 30 files.
I thought the mapped master page application would only take place when you select Format > Master Pages > Apply Master Pages. Is this not true? Am I doing something wrong?
I've consulted the help and several books and found no helpful information.

I can now see two update rules one is Z update rule for 0PLANT and the other one is the business content.
Yeah actually there are not two update rules, infact one is update rule and the other is transformation. You can now delete the old update rule(3.x)

Yeah it is ok. If you dont want to, you can keep the update rule and never use, but whats the use, go ahead and delete it.
Why do we need to copy the Infosource??
The old is a 3.x infosource and that IS is being used by the object in the update rules. So you would need to create a new infosource. Even when you create a new infosource you have 2 options, 3.x or a 7.0 one.
