No memory after a failed transfer

While trying to transfer my files from my old Mac, it stalled for over 24 hours.  I couldn't do anything with either Mac so I had to cancel the transfer.  Now my Mac Book Pro has no memory left.  I would like to know how to correct the no memory problem.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

If by memory you are referring to the lack of free disk space, you can find some help at http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/lackofram.html

  • IMac freezing after start because of failed transfer

    Hello,
    Last night I tried transferring two videos over a network which ended up failing. Not thinking much about it, I just placed those two video files on that local computer to just do a usb transfer this morning. Well, getting to the target computer, I notice something like the picture attached.
    It is like the computer saw the failed transfer and kept trying to do the transfer. Also, mouse is still working. I just cannot use the dock, finder, or any other application.
    I have tried safe booting, this works but obviously you do not want to stay in safe boot. I have repaired the disk and noticed a speed jump in startup which was nice but ultimately did not fix my issue. I have tried restarting (obviously) which did not help my problem.
    Any other ideas? Would love to get this up and rolling for this is my editing machine.
    Thanks for any input you have.

    Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
    A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.

  • "Low Memory Warning" and "fails to create a virtual machine"

    From ide.conf, I learnt:
    If you are getting the 'Low Memory Warning' Message Dialog while running JDeveloper, please increase the -Xmx value below from the default 768M to something greater, like 1024M or 1250M. If after increasing the value, JDeveloper is no longer starting up because it fails to create a virtual machine, then please reduce the modified -Xmx value.
    However,
    If I set it to a bigger value, say 512M, it fails to create a virtual machine.
    If I set it to a smaller value, say 400M, it throws Low Memory Warning after a short while.
    So I do not know how to do. Total physical memory of my box is 4G. Free physical user memory after starting jdev is 1.5G.

    512M isn't bigger, the default (according to your reading) is 768M...
    I just tried with JDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0 (64-bit machine, but using 32-bit JVM) - works fine with 1024M - just to confirm that my changes are working, 5024M does give me "unable to create virtual machine"
    Have you messed about with other settings?

  • My iPad no longer detects my memory card reader to transfer photos from my camera?

    My iPad is no longer detecting my apple memory card reader to transfer photos from my camera to my iPad 2

    You could try closing the Photos app completely and then re-open it to see if that makes a difference : from the home screen (i.e. not with Photos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Photos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    Are you adding the photos yourself to the card via a computer, or is it straight from a camera ?

    We just recently increased the available memory from 8GB to 24GB to help ensure that there is enough memory. This error never happened on CRM v4. According to the resource monitor, SQL is only reserving 20.7GB of RAM and there is 694MB of RAM in Standby.
    The main Async service is using 660MB and the maintenance Async service is using 265MB.
    To resolve the issue temporarily, I restarted both Async services this morning. Shortly after everything came back, they were holding fairly steady around 350MB and 200MB. It's been six hours since then.
    The last time I spoke with Microsoft about a similar problem, they suggested increasing the amount of RAM.

    It became more and more of a problem. It was impacting the users in a more subtle way at first. You couldn't configure the CRM for Outlook client. After a while, they couldn't use CRM in Outlook at all and users reporting not being able to complete phone
    call activities. I opened a ticket with MS and they suggested the same as Wilson Lou did. The organization error had nothing to do with the creep on the async services usage of RAM. It was indeed caused by SQL stealing all of the memory. Limiting the max usage
    to 24GB RAM has resolved that error.
    My Async processes are still using a LOT of RAM, but now that I have more than enough RAM, it doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. They are currently using about 700MB RAM each.
    Also, I have upgraded to SP1, UR2.

  • Excel remains in memory after using by DOI.

    Hi.
    I'm trying to use DOI but
    Excel instance remains in memory after I have run macro and leave program. If I don't run any macro - everything is Ok.
    I run macro by this way:
        CALL METHOD document->execute_macro
          EXPORTING
            macro_string = 'MyMacro'
            param_count  = 0
          IMPORTING
            error      = error.
    Before leaving the program I release DOI objects as in demo
        IF NOT documentproxy IS INITIAL.
          CALL METHOD documentproxy->close_document.
          CALL METHOD c_oi_errors=>show_message
            EXPORTING
              type = 'E'.
          FREE documentproxy.
        ENDIF.
        IF NOT olecontrol IS INITIAL.
          CALL METHOD olecontrol->destroy_control.
          FREE olecontrol.
        ENDIF.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello, long time no see,
    but anyway, executing a macro prevents excel then to be closed over ole, as i've tried many ways to get it done, here is a work-around.
    it's frustating that I cannot use excel as Inplace there, because users could then easily USE or even UPLOAD their own excel-spreadsheets over the custom control with the use of ALV-Grid firstly, wich is really nice. Because of this 'bug', (i think it definitely is one, but don't know on wich side, MS or SAP) excel-spreadsheet functionality over ALV-Grid imho simply cannot be used fine with spreadsheets containing 'bigger' macros which where executed over ole - in eo_start_macro.
    For closing this issue, I just wanted to add how I could 'overcome' the sympthoms of this still remaining temp-files (+excel holding them open) when using excel + ole automation over SAPGUI:
    You could just NOT use excel "Inplace" on a custom control of a dynpro, but outside SAP, still OLE-driven.
    Start it in foreground guarantees you can close the temp-file with or without saving at a time and not surprisingly at the end on shutdown, because the controls of excel (and excel as a whole) are visible anytime - ole automation works also fine this way.
    This is the order of preparing excel and setting data into it i've done it, therefore i've created a single include for all the excel-ole stuff:
    (complete source could be looked up at http://pastebin.com/zmr6xdZm)
    1.eo_get_templ_uri
    2.eo_build_spreadsheet_interface - goes ahead with parameter inplace_enabled = SPACE
    3.eo_build_named_area
    4.eo_set_data_into_sheet
    5.eo_start_macro
    after the data is sent to excel (+ the macro on the spreadsheet has done it's job), excel is holding the filled temp file (spreadsheet) in foreground, so users can directly close it with- or without saving.
    *** using inplace_enabled = SPACE here, on Initializing the control
    CALL METHOD cl_control->init_control
       EXPORTING
         inplace_enabled          = ' '
         no_flush                 = 'X'
         INPLACE_SHOW_TOOLBARS    = insert_toolbar
         r3_application_name      = sy-cprog
         parent                   = cl_container
       IMPORTING
         error                    = error
       EXCEPTIONS
    *          javabeannotsupported     = 1  " ex. nicht im Minisap
         OTHERS                   = 2.
    *** and on Load document from BOR
         CALL METHOD cl_document->open_document
         EXPORTING
           "startup_macro    = 'DieseArbeitsmappe.start' "funkt nicht
           document_title = sy-cprog
           document_url   = doc_url
           no_flush       = 'X'
           open_inplace   = '  '
         IMPORTING
           retcode          = soiret
           error          = error.
         APPEND error TO t_errors.
       ENDIF.

  • How can i restore memory after deleting all photos on my iPad 8.1.2

    iPad 4
    8.1.2
    Photos; not iPhoto app
    Under GENERAL I cannot restore my capacity memory after deleting all my photos from the iPad.
    I do not store photos in the Cloud. I do not use Photo Stream
    I have reset my iPad as well as checked in Image Capture for possible photos still there.
    I have also deleted last 30 days of photos.

    In iOS 8.1.2 photos that are deleted from the Camera Roll are moved to the Recently Deleted album. They remain there for 30 days unless you delete them again from that album. The Recently Deleted album was created because so many people complained that they deleted photos and wanted them back. The Recently Deleted album gives people 30 days to change their mind about deleting photos. For the rest of us, it's kind of a pan to have to delete the photos twice to free up the storage space.
    Oh, and there is no longer an iPhoto that works on iOS devices running iOS 8.1.2.

  • Mac mini not booting up with 8GB memory after 10.7.2 update

    My mac mini is not booting up with 8GB of memory after the 10.7.2 update. It just keeps on beeping and flashing the led.
    If I take out the upper DIMM (Bank 1) It boots just fine, and it does so with either one of the 4GB DIMMs in Bank 0, so the DIMMs are fine. It also boots up fine with two 1GB DIMMs installed simultaneously, so the Bank 1 seems to be somehow working as well.
    This trouble started right after the Lion recovery update, meaning the mini has never booted with the full 8GB installed after the update.
    It worked just fine before that, with the full 8GB of memory installed.
    Anyone else having similar problems?
    Cheers, Otto.

    I have upgraded my 2011 Macbook Pro and my 2011 Mini Server
    to 8 gig with Corsair RAM and have had no issues
    (CMSA8GX3M2A1333C9).  What brand RAM was used?
    There have been issues in the past with some RAM
    brands.
    Something to try is a PRAM reset with the 8 gig installed.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.7/en/mh26871.html
    Also, make sure the Minis are booting into 64 bit mode.
    Open Applications->Utilities->System Information
    On the left side click the software heading.  There should be a line
      64-bit Kernel and Extensions:          Yes
    This should be the default for 2010 and 2011, but something could
    have got hosed.

    Im having trouble getting my macbook pro to boot up after a fail safe boot, im getting as far as the grey screen with the apple loggo. so im trying to run a disk repair but is saying the disk is locked, how do i unlock disk??

    Some clarification may help.
    You say you cannot boot normally.  It shows a gray screen with the Apple logo.
    Did you say it will boot successfully in Safe Mode (boot, then hold down the Shift key)?
    How did you boot the machine to run Disk Utility?  (Which keyboard combinations)?

    alrite. I have made my mistake. I should not jail break my iphone. So if I purchase my apps again from itunes is that mean mean my data will be back?
    I hope you guys can giv me some support here since I am Apple genuine buyer. I could be wrong last time and now I turn over a new leaf and learn a lesson.
    Please noted that I can always create new account to ask for the same questions without mention about "jailbreak" if I want to but obviously I won't do that. Please provide me your support! Thank you!

  • Configuring Time machine to Restore after a failer

    Hi
    how to Configurr Time machine to Restore after a failer ? should i just set the time machine to backup to the external hard disk that have the backup and it will automatically detect it and can use it ? what if there is another backups for another Mac's ?

    PureHeartKnight wrote:
    Hi
    how to Configurr Time machine to Restore after a failer ?
    Do you mean you want to recover your entire system from your TM backups? If so, see item 14 in +Frequently Asked Questions+ at the top of this forum for details.
    Or do you mean, once your Mac is recovered, how to start new TM backups?
    When you first boot after restoring, you may want to immediately turn Time Machine off, as it's next backup will probably be a full one -- everything it just restored will be backed-up again. You cannot prevent this, only delay it. It will of course take quite a while, and a lot of space on your TM disk, so you may wish to wait until you're sure your system is the way you want it, or even erase your TM disk with Disk Utility and let your backups start anew.
    what if there is another backups for another Mac's ?
    That may become a problem. TM knows which backups are for which Mac, and will not mix them. But if there's not room for the first backup of the restored Mac (see above), you have two bad choices: erase the disk, and start both Macs over again with TM; or delete all the backups for the failed Mac via the TM interface (see item 12 of the same article).
    If you decide to erase the disk completely, you may want to partition it before beginning backups, so each Mac's backups have their own, exclusive partition, to prevent this hassle in the future. See item 5 for instructions if you want to do this.
