No Messages in Sub Folders

So, I've got Exchange 2003 and I'm pushing email/contacts/calendar items all over the place fine with my iPhone.
Only problem I seem to have is that none of my sub-folders in Mail are populating with any messages. Even though they show in Entourage with messages, the folders aren't showing any messages at all on the iPhone.
Inbox and Sent are working perfectly. Anyone else having this problem? Can't see how there'd be any setting in Exchange that would set this...
It's funny, all the folder name show up on the iPhone, it's just that if I click into one, it doesn't find any messages...
Thanks

Yes, it won't display any messages (not even the new/current ones). I think it is a bug at the Microsoft exchange server's end or most of the Network Admin (aka genius left out enabling some minor setting). Cause my boss' _Treo has the same problem_ (so, you see it's not just iPhone!). I ended-up merging all my messages into the main Inbox and loosing the sub-folder system since it also benefits me by other ways, here is how:
A) I use *quick Search* frequently where you can search by Subject/From/To. By having all messages in one location this eliminates searching each and every single sub-folder.
B) By doing the above step, you can also take advantage of multi-tier searching/filtering... for e.g. Select a specific Category +(if you have it all labeled like Vendors, Clients, Prospects, etc.)+ and then apply the above referred *quick Search*

  • All sub-folders in Mac Mail cannot synchronize with Exchange Server 2010

    Hi all,
    All sub-folders under Inbox in Mac Mail cannot be synchronized with Exchange Server 2010. There are 2GB messages size in Inbox folder and 500MB messages size under Inbox's sub-folders. All messages can be sent out and received and it can work in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 normally. However, all messages in sub-folders cannot be synchronized (empty sub-folders).
    Does this problem relate to message synchronization order of Mac Mail with Exchange Server? Do all sub-folders messages be synchronized after synchronization complete of Inbox? The synchronization of sub-folders will not happen if the synchronization of Inbox does not complete, doesn't it?
    All messages synchronization is over internet. Can anybody help?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
    1.please check the mailbox send and receive quota for exchange 2013 migrated mailbox.
    2.Please check the email attributes of the exchange 2013 migrated mailbox because it seems to be a problem with that particular mailbox.
    3.Then do the message tracking and that would be the only way to find the where the send messages has gone.
    4.Please check and confirm you have an enough space on the disk where exchange queue database is residing.
    I think I need to create a receive connector in the 2013 to receive from 2010 ?
    No need ,by design  exchange 2013 cas server default frontend receive connector will be having an
    entire ipv4 and ipv6 segment and anonymous connection is checked by default.
    I think I also need to create a send and receive connector for 2013 users to each other?
    No need , an intra organisation send connector and the default receive connectors in exchange will be used
    for internal mail flow between the exchange 2013 users.
    Please reply me if you have any queries .

  • Messages located in sub folders do not show in iPad Mail

    Using iPad mail with Microsoft Exchange sync works great at the inbox level but any messages that are in sub folders do not show up in Mail on the iPad. All of the sub folders show up but do not show messages. In addition, I am not able to collapse the parent folders, the result is a very long list of empty folders. The exception is emails that I move to the folders on the iPad do show up if the folder is selected on the iPad. Looking for solution.

    Has anyone else noticed the following?
    I've synchronized with Exchange and am noticing some odd mail behaviour:
    - I have folders in my PC Outlook inbox
    - when I have mail open on my ipad, and a new message comes in, if I happen to be an a subfolder (example a special folder for messages from my boss or whatever) all the new mail goes to that folder instead of the inbox.
    - even weirder, it stays there when I go back to my PC and Outlook.
    Not very useful long term since I end up with seriously misfiled mail...

  • Messages missing from all sub-folders after deleted one sub-folder

    I had a folder with sub-folders ... one of which had a large number of emails. I deleted one sub-folder because I no longer wanted it and any of the emails. Now when I go to another folder in that sub-folder, it only has one message ... presumably those received after I deleted the sub-folder. When I did a search on the "from" address, I see a large number of subjects but when I click on the subject all I get is the following:
    "The message from xxx concerning yyy has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
    Firstly, these messages were downloaded and secondly the account is online.
    It looks like deleting a sub-folder deletes the contents of all other folders in the main folder. This is terrible and certainly not what I understood should happen. I saw another message about losing emails when an account is deleted, but I move all of my emails out of the account folders immediately.
    I suspect I won't be able to recover these messages but this is very scary. Can anyone explain what happened ... and let me know whether it is possible to recover them?

    I have fixed my mail folders so I thought I should document what I did for the sake of others who might have the same problem.
    When I deleted the sub-folder, Mail screwed up the indexes for all of the sub-folders in the same folder. I used Finder to look at the folders and the mail items were there too. So I decided to try to import them back into Mail and that worked. It fixed up the indexes and everything is there. There were a few duplicate entries ... but that was easy to fix.
    I'll report a bug.

  • IMAP and sub folders and (messages)

    I recently added many folders from on "On My Mac" sidebar to my MobileMe sidebar which is using IMAP.
    Now I have a few dozen folders inside my MobileMe IMAP account and consequently it is a bit chaotic when I check my mail. The activity window goes on for quite awhile syncing, checking and copying my mail.
    I guess what I am curious about it the following:
    Is there a limit to how many folders and subfolders I should use in MobileMe IMAP? What I mean by limit is, what is too much?
    I have my GMAIL account setup as well through MobileMe. It seems a lot of time is spent syncing between my MobileMe and GMAIL, what is the best setup for this? By best I mean, the most economical setup between GMAIL and MobileMe to ensure redundant copies and synced mail boxes?
    In Apple Mail I have certain folder that now have duplicate sub folders, where one has the suffix (messages). What is the difference and what should I do to get rid of these duplicate subfolders? In other words, inside Apple Mail I have a folder called "Business" inside that are a number of subfolders, many of the are duplicated one being called "Business GTD" and the next "Business GTD (messages)"
    Thanks very much for any and all help.
    Henry

    IMAP, IMAP .. fun stuff hey!
    OK .. since your running IMAP you MUST be checking mail at various locations (remote or not). You could be using various computer to check IMAP mail also. OK .. step one ... IMAP is not a protocol
    used or intended for a client mail application to be running at multiple locations simultaneously,
    which is the MAJOR drawback versus a regular POP mail account. Make sure ALL other mail clients
    are QUIT and config'ed properly at each location. You can and should only use one open client at each location each time. IF more than one mail client is running you will get these PROBLEMS all the time!!! See each open client wants to load (populate) ALL the IMAP info at one time once its running. IF setting's not correct two open mail clients will fight and clash to download your mail

  • Unable to view Inbox sub-folders in Mail on OSX Mavericks

    Hello,
    I'm working with two Exchange accounts that have the same problem.  Both accounts have sub-folders underneath the Inbox folder.  After upgrading to OSX Mavericks, the sub-folders are no longer visible within Mail. If I go on the web and mark a mail in one of these sub-folders as unread, the unread count on the Inbox increases, however the mail along with the subfolder it is in, are still not visible.  Additionally, if I right-click on the Inbox folder and choose "Get Account Info", and switch to "Messages on Server", I can see the sub-folders listed there, the number of messages in it, and the size of the folder. If I click on the folder within this window and choose "Show Messages" it opens a new, blank, Mail window.
    Does anyone have any ideas about how to get these folders to show again?  I tried rebuilding to Inbox to no avail.  I am trying to find a solution that doesn't involve recreating the account in Mail, if possible, as some of the mailboxes I have to deal with are extremely large, and to re-download them all from the Exchange server would take a very long time.
    Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

    Hi all
    Same here!
    The folders still show up on my iPad and iPhone AND i can still move emails into the folders. So in the context of "move email" all the folders show up. But as above, no email folders in the main menu of Mail. I am using an Exchange server too and already setup everything fresh from the start but it did not solve the problem. Looks like nobody tested upgrading an existing Exchange/Apple Mail setup to Mavericks...maybe because Exchange is to exotic. ;-)
    Hope this gets fixed soon and I hope it raises some new ideas in terms of QA!

    Mail seems to know it's there, as you described, but for some reason just doesn't display it.  Honestly, it seems like someone just made an oversight and forgot to put the little arrow in to let us expand folders that have sub-folders.

  • Is there any way to have a smart mailbox search sub-folders

    My wife uses Mail.app for her business in which gets hundreds of emails a day and managing them all is quite a challenge. One important goal of e-mail management is archiving certain emails in folders (and sub-folders) without creating duplicates.  What I've done is to create rules to move e-mails into their respective the folders and flag them based varying criteria. This works great!
    The problem is when I make a smart mailbox to include only flagged messages in a specific mailbox, only messages in the root mailbox are found.  All messages in the sub-folder are ignored or never considered. I used the "not in mailbox" option on my own mail.app but this isn't practical for her because she manages numerous e-mail accounts for clients and she adds new accounts frequently.
    Is there a solution to my issue that doesn't involve puting all the messages into the root mailbox?

    Mine are showing emails in subfolders, but I don't have near that many emails.
    Maybe you need to reindex the spotlight database.
    The normal method is to add the Hard drive to the Privacy tab in Spotlight prefs. If that doesn't cause it to index, here is a Terminal way: http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_reindex_spotlight

  • How do I get all my sub-folders from Yahoo to show up in Mozilla

    I installed Mozilla Thunderbird on my Home PC and Office Laptop. On my PC all my sub-folders were imported automatically. On my Laptop Thunderbird is not showing all the sub-folders I use in Yahoo to keep my emails organized. This is not the local folders that I can set up in Thunderbird. It's the folders I have created in Yahoo for years.

    Pop mail accounts can only connect to server, check Inbox for new messages and download from the server Inbox to the mail account Inbox in Thunderbird. This is how all pop mail accounts work.
    You can get other emails in other folders downloaded by logging on to webmail and moving the emails back into the Inbox and then click GetMail.
    Suggest you do this one folder at a time.
    Imap mail accounts see a remote view of the server folders. You subscribe to see folders. You can also choose to synchronize folders.
    If you want to see various server folders then you have to use IMAP.
    You cannot change a pop into an imap, there are many differences.
    Create a new exisiting mail account and make sure it is an IMAP setting before you click on 'Done'. Use 'Manual config' button if necessary to change settings.

  • How do I include sub-folders in a Smart Mailbox?

    I've set up a Smart Mailbox using the following rules (ALL) :
    1. Message is in Mailbox XXXX
    2. Subject contains YYYY
    3. Contains attachments
    But only 3 messages were found! I then realised that although I carefully selected a high-level mailbox (XXXX), it hasn't looked in the large and very complex set of sub-folders.
    Obviously, I don't want a smart mailbox for every sub-folder below XXXX. How do I force a Mail Smart Mailbox to look not only in a selected mailbox, but all its sub-folders too?

    Never mind. I worked it out for myself.
    Step 1. I created a new Smart Mailbox for any messages in mailbox XXXX, and all its lower level sub-folders, using the Match ANY rule.
    Message is in Mailbox XXXX
    Message is in Mailbox XXXX-AA
    Message is in Mailbox XXXX-BB
    Message is in Mailbox XXXX-BB-1
    (etc)
    Step 2. I then recreated the original Smart Mailbox (OP), but this time I stipulated
    1. Message is in Mailbox (new Smart Mailbox). Rules 2 and 3 were unchanged.
    It meant I had to create two Smart Mailboxes instead of one, and cost me ten minutes extra work, but it works. That's the main thing.

  • How to monitor contents of sub-folders in a Folder Action?

    Hello. I am wondering how I might read a folder's contentModDate within Terminal, i.e. from the command line and/or within a Folder Action.
    This is the situation: I am running Periscope Pro (PP) for motion-detected videos, which by default, places them within the user's ~/Movies/com.zipzapmac.Periscope-Pro folder. Within that folder, PP creates a folder with it's name based upon (a) machine name and (b) primary MAC address. For example, we'll pretend this folder is called MacPro(001122334455). Then within that folder, as PP is running in motion-detection mode, it creates a new folder based on the current date and then, within that, places videos when motion is detected. Very straight-forward and it works just fine.
    What I would like to do is have a folder action that (a) detects when any new folder or file is created within MacPro(001122334455) and (b) sends me a text-message via Apple Mail.
    If the MacPro(001122334455) folder is empty, I can create a Folder Action that will detect the creation of a sub-folder when the first motion-detected video is created and that successfully sends me a text-message, BUT if a second video is created later within the same date-named folder, I will not get a message. I would get a text-message on the following day as a new folder is created within MacPro(001122334455) that signals the first motion-detected video of the day, but again not subsequent videos on the same day.
    The text-message via Apple Mail I have easily scripted via Applescript and it works flawlessly.
    Since Folder Actions only work upon a single pre-defined folder and not on sub-folders, I can never get automatically notified via text-message of second/third/fourth/etc. motion-detected videos as they're created... only the first one of each day.
    So, I'm wondering whether there's a different way, perhaps through launchd that I might script this process. I'm thinking that if the contentModDate value of the MacPro(001122334455) folder could be read, compared with the last known value, and then---if different---execute the Applescript. OR PERHAPS I'm going about this all wrong and you might have another, better idea?
    I'm open to suggestions.
    -- David (da2357)

    Well, I found a solution that does not use a Folder Action. Since Folder Actions will only work upon the specified folder and not upon the contents of any sub-folders, I needed a different solution.
    First, I launched Terminal and created a new file called monitorPeriscope. I set executable permissions (chmod 700 monitorPeriscope). The contents of the file:
    #!/bin/bash
    # monitor the size of a specified folder and
    # when the size increases, run an applescript
    # copyright 2013, david dot allie at me dot com
    # you are welcome to use this script, but please attribute authorship.
    # CONSTANTS
    WATCHFOLDER="/users/xadmin/movies/com.zipzapmac.Periscope-Pro"
    SIZEFILEONE="/users/xadmin/.bin/foldersizeone"
    SIZEFILETWO="/users/xadmin/.bin/foldersizetwo"
    MYAPPLESCRIPT="/users/xadmin/documents/dropbox/programming/applescript/motion_de tected_text.scpt"
    # START
    # calculates current size of watchfolder, saves to sizefiletwo, then
    # performs a diff operation, result which is evaluated in if statement,
    # and if different, runs applescript, and copy sizefiletwo to sizefileone
    du -h -k -d3 -c $WATCHFOLDER | awk 'END{print}' | awk '{print $1}' > $SIZEFILETWO
    diff --brief $SIZEFILEONE $SIZEFILETWO
    if [ $? -eq 1 ]
      then
        osascript $MYAPPLESCRIPT
        cp -f $SIZEFILETWO $SIZEFILEONE
    fi
    exit 0
    Next, I created the following Applescript, replacing Some User, [email protected] and the text address of [email protected] below with my real values.
    using terms from application "Mail"
    tell application "Mail"
    set theName to "Some User"
    set theAddress to "[email protected]"
    set theContent to "Motion detected in OFFICE."
    set newMessage to make new outgoing message
    tell newMessage
    make new to recipient at end of to recipients with properties {name:theName, address:theAddress}
    set visible to true
    set sender to "[email protected]"
    set subject to "ALERT "
    set content to theContent
    send newMessage
    end tell
    end tell
    end using terms from
    Next, using the touch command, I created /users/xadmin/.bin/foldersizetwo and /users/xadmin/.bin/foldersizetwo as needed for the bash shell script (touch /users/xadmin/.bin/foldersizeone and touch /users/xadmin/.bin/foldersizetwo).
    Next, still in Terminal, I navigated to ~/Library/LaunchAgents and created the following plist using nano, which I named com.xadmin.monitorPeriscope.plist:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
              <key>Disabled</key>
              <false/>
              <key>Label</key>
              <string>com.xadmin.monitorPeriscope</string>
              <key>ProgramArguments</key>
              <array>
              <string>/users/xadmin/.bin/monitorPeriscope</string>
              </array>
              <key>RunAtLoad</key>
              <true/>
              <key>StartInterval</key>
              <integer>900</integer>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    Finally, all that was needed was to log out and then log back in. Once I launched the Periscope Pro app and started the motion-detection mode, I left my office... and within fifteen minutes I received a text message indicating that motion had been detected in my office. In the plist above, I set a StartInterval of 900 seconds, which corresponds to 15 minutes. I can reduce it down to 300 seconds (5 minutes) without it adversely affecting performance, but I'm going to leave the setting where it is for now.
    So, I solved my own problem and I'm pleased with the results.

    Dearbhla Bradley

    The exception is pretty clear. for some reason the script is not able to open the folder TestFolder1 on the local hard drive.
    I noticed in the script you have specified the $Folder variable to be "C:\Users\user\Documents\SharepointTestFolder" while the exception is for "C:\FilePath\TestFolder\TestFolder1"
    Will you please help me understand this difference?
    Also, sorry I'm not familiar with the "recurse" calling method. I'm suspecting you're telling it to call the ImportFiles() function again, though if this is the case it looks to me that it's reusing the same $Folder variable that was defined at the start,
    rather than using the folder object you have just identified.

    Hi Hemendra,
    Thanks for your reply. Actually i am trying to do two things here. First i am creating sub-folders using following code. And then trying to assign individual group permission on these sub-folders using following Powershell script. Now problem is when i am
    creating sub-folders, its also inheriting all the parent permission. Lets say i have customer folder name "Pepsi" and it has 4 sub-folders (like Account Management, Legal Drafts, Executed.. etc) . Now i want to assign individual group permission to each Sub-folder
    but root folder (Pepsi) should remain all the parent permissions. i did try to remove the permission first and then assigned permission to sub-folders. i was able to assign individual group permission to sub-folders but problem is, its also assigning Limited
    Access to the root folder. so basically i cannot see the folder as the root folder has limited access. Please let me know how can achieve that.

  • How do I create sub folders in my email inbox

    Hi, I wanted to keep my email empty and have sub folders for the emails I would like to sort.  Can mac do this ?
    if so, please tell me how.  Just purchased macbook pro and first time mac user. thank you

    Launch Mail.
    Click "Mailbox" in the Mail menu bar.
    Select "New Mailbox" from the dropdown.
    Select "Location" and give a name in the dropdown sheet that appears.
    Click OK.
    Right click the message you want to copy or move to the new Mail folder.
    When you move the mouse pointer over move or copy popup
    will open up with the folder name. Select that.

  • Mail won't detect IMAP sub folders

    I have several subfolders in my INBOX (INBOX.read, INBOX.sent, INBOX.todo, ...). Mail.app doesn't detect those sub folderds on startup. Only way to access the sub folders is to create new sub folder for INBOX. When I close the Mail.app or lose network connection, I have to create again new sub folder to be able to expand the INBOX.
    This is really annoying and makes Mail.App unusable for me because Spotlight reindexes the subfolders every time When Mail.App detects them. Reindexing takes about 10 minutes and 100% of my processor time...
    I have been told that this bug has existed for a long time . Why doesn't it get fixed? What is the recommended workaround?
    15.2" PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Thanks for the clarification.
    Please confirm that About Mail reports version 2.0.5?
    Make sure to have quit Thunderbird and Mail, and then in the Finder open Home/Library, and duplicate the Mail folder, and drag the copy to your Desktop, strictly for temporary backup. Next open the original Mail folder, and find the IMAP account folder for this account, and delete it. Empty the trash following this.
    Next, open Home/Library/Preferences, and find the com.apple.mail.plist file, and drag it to the Desktop (where you will most likely later delete it).
    Start Mail, and re-enter/set up your account (this should have resulted in Mail opening as new -- if not post back immediately about that), and DECLINE to import anything, even if prompted to. Test, and let me know what you experience with the issue.
    This procedure should have little risk, since 1) you are using IMAP and messages on the server are not lost. 2) On My Mac mailboxes are not impacted, and 3) you have made a backup just in case.
    It is possible that your particular IMAP provider and Mail have some incompatibilities, but I am using two IMAP at the moment, and both work. However, they each appear to treat folders differently.
    All the best.

  • IPhone email sub folders do not sync with Push feature

    Greetings all,
    I have been working with the iPhone for a while with one of my tasks being to the iPhone Sync Push technology to work well for us.
    Unfortunately it only partially works. It will on push to the root of the INBOX and any other sub folders below the INBOX never get pushed to. The only way to get an idea of if there are new email messages in the sub folders is to individually open each on and wait for it to sync. This is not cool at all.
    Am I missing something here? I mean if I have rules running on the server to organize my email messages and the mail server and clients know about the new messages, why does the iPhone ignore them.
    I have tried the iPhone with Exchange 2003 and with Kerio 6.6 and get no luck with either. I have lots of other phones connected to both and they sync perfectly, so I am lead to believe that the problem is with Apple.
    I thought this phone was supposed to be Enterprise ready?
    Am I doing something wrong here?
    I heard somewhere that Apple only supports push to the INBOX. If that is true, when will Apple fix it so the phone can be used in the Enterprise?
    If anyone has any thoughts on this or if this is working to actually push to sub folders inside of the INBOX with notification of new email without having to open the mail app, I would like to know.
    Thanks for listening.
    Rick

    To all,
    After reading your posts, i can definitly relate to the frustration of using the iphone in an enterprise environment. i have to agree that the Blackberry functionality compared to the iphones is day and night. meaning, the blackberry has always geared itself towards corporate america. where in the iphone's case, it's a device made to look pretty and have some positive enterprise add-ons. however, it still remains a "consumer" mobile device.
    After upgrading the iphone os, i saw that they have addressed the issue with "sub-folder sync". for many of us, that recieve tons of emails a day, its a given that we need to stay organized, otherwise there would be email chaos.
    here is the steps to set auto push to your sub-folders...
    1. Settings
    2. Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    3. Click on your corp mail account.
    4. Click "Mail folders to push"
    at this point you can choose the folders that are currently setup in exchange.
    there is still a minor bug to this fix, even though you will be notify via chime of a new email in your folder, there wont be an indicator on the email icon on the main page indicating a 1 or 2 or 3 emails you might have. Once you are in the email account and see your folder structure, there will be a number indicating new emails.
    final thoughts... they are getting there. im really hoping the new 3gs address all the issues relating to enterprise environment.
