No microphone audible in XP64 with Xfi Fatal

I am running XP 64 pro and cannot get the microphone to work either in windows or in utils like Teamspeak. All the properties are there, the volume is turned up etc. But it's like there is no microphone connected.
any ideas?
dave henrie
thanks
edit....did get the mic working, but only by enabling the onboard sound and using the motherboard sound plugs(ports) No audible sound when plugged into the SB X-fi fatality.

)? No, don't install any of the apps, they are XP only (the ones that came on CD). If you want applications search the forums for "UPAX" although these are hacked chinese drivers \ apps so use at your own risk.
Don't bother asking when you will get drivers \ applications, nobody knows when\if you will. 2a) ? Open Control panel, open "Sound", on playback devices select speakers, right click and select properties. Select "levels" and mute whichever input your mic is plugged into. 2b) http://forums.creative.com/creativel...message.id=254. In short you are screwed.
Additionally, if you just bought the card you have a couple of options:?)? Return it now, do some research and find a card with working\decent vista support. They are out there. (I would do this if I could but I am stuck with this thing for the time being.)?2)? Wait for CL to get their act together but you may have to wait a long time. Historically they release drivers every quarter and they just released a very disappointing set of drivers two weeks ago. • SOUND MUTING WITH XFI FATALITY TITANIUM AND WINDOWS 7

5SOUND MUTING WITH XFI FATALITY TITANIUM AND WINDOWS 7z Ok sorry if this hasbeen covered before but I searched and couldn't find it so here goes:
I have a two month old XFI FATALTY TITANIUM CARD WITH THE FRONT PANEL BREAKOUT BOX.
It showed up staright away as a hi fi device and the optical output when selected works ok I dunno about surround sound it simply plays great stereo through my Arcam DAC connected up to my stereo.
Problems began when I decided to install the Creative Software. What happens i sit plays for maybe o mins then mutes also I primarily use i tunes and it wont play anything until a few seconds after the music starts.
This is just on optical out if I use standard phono to 3.5mm jack its fine.
What puzzles me is why this happens when using the creative software ? Reverting back to the pre creative software it plays fine I would just like to take advantage of the various functions suplied with creative software?
Any ideas please. FWIW I Completely deinstalled the card and installed? abasic CMI 8738 card and that does the same so maybe its windows 7
Oh spec wise Windows 7 32 bit
    4GB RAM
    Asus MOBO

Weird... I changed nothing and yeterday it worked...
I just understand this, but what the hell?

  • Crackling, Left Rear Channel noise, IRQs, 4 Gigs of Memory, fixes and problems with XFi Fatal

Hello fellow troubleshooters. Well I've been working on my XFI issues since there are so many of them trying to make the one piece in my newly built system work as intended. I will put my hardware info below this post for comparison purposes if it helps you at all or for feedback/ideas. Well first off I had the crackling noise popping so on even when my machine was idle. If you have not done this yet do it
!!! Start, Control Panel, Sounds Speech and Audio Device, Change Speaker Settings, Advanced (in device volume), ok now there is a bunch of sliders go to "options" check everything, ok now that you see all the sliders mute Everything besides: Play Control, Wave, CD Player for testing purpose. You will probably hear a difference as you do it. Especially Mic 2. Ok well that issue resolved my popping crackling noises when idle. Ok so I still have a shared IRQ issue since I have an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe board and the slots go as such PCI-E, PCI, PCI, PCI-E, PCI. Well since the GeForce 7800 GTX cards I have take up not just the PCI-E slot, but also the PCI slot is covered from the Huge Fan. Then the Same thing for the Second graphics card. So I have only one slot that works for my PCI Fatalty sound card. Well this forces me to share PCI IRQ between one of the Video Cards and the Sound Card. Its not a "conflict" it is simply sharing the IRQ, after the above issue fixed my popping issue this no longer was a concern. Now my big issue is that I sent my Sub Woofer in for RMA, I have the Gigaworks S750 7. THX speakers, they are great but when I really crank up the volume on them I would get the sound like a speaker was blown in the left rear channel, so I swapped another speaker in its place and I have the same problem. So the RMA folks said to send in the Sub Woofer which cost me over $30 to ship the thing only to have them tell me there is no problem. Well I had recently done RMAs on my sound card, both Video Cards, and my mother board too in hopes of fixing the next problem. So everything is new though I got a refurb on the mobo. So I'm just waiting on my Sub woofer now so I'm using my headphones and guess what I'm finding there is this noise in the left speaker, an issue I sent the headphones back for a long time ago when I was using them waiting to buy my speakers. I have the Creative Pro Gamer headphones. So now I read a post about someone else with the same issue left channel, and I have to wonder I am not alone and that usually means in Creative Labs land there probably is others with this issue that have spouses that wont let them stretch their audiophile legs with extreme volume, if this is you try it out kick up the bass, and see if you have this problem too, if so please post it here. I have no clue on this one and I am open to any ideas. Ok and the last issue!! This is the real problem I'm facing now. I play EQ2 I love my MMO titles with the occassional single player title for those short stints at the computer between work, parenting, and stuff my wife demands be started before she finishes speaking of it (those of you married know what I'm talking about). I have 2 operating systems, XP Home, and XP Pro 64. Home I use for Office, graphic design, and general applications. XP Pro 64 I use purely for gaming. All my games are installed through this OS which is on my 2 74 Gig Raptors in Raid 0, I have another Partition for XP Home, and a 3rd for all the game installs. So I recently found that after selecting Extreme Graphics option in EQ2 then moving the rest of the sliders to Max that my G5 keyboard which has a performance monitor in it showing the amount of Ram usage showed me hitting about 90% and would spilke at the same time as I found I had frame rate slowdown. So I decided to get 2 more gigs of Corsair Twin XMS 3500Pro 024x2 memory bumping me up to 4 gigs. Well I had to go into the bios I found and change a memory setting to discrete and enable the memory hole in order for XP Pro 64 and the motherboard to see the memory. At this time I was working on other things with my computer, and suddenly the popping noise came back so I'm pissed now.... But oddly its not happening in XP home, only in XP 64. So I'm thinking I may have to go to XP home for my gaming OS, then just before I install home I remember that XP home wont register 4 gigs of memory.... So I go turn off the memory hole and discrete settings and this sets the memory to 2 gigs.... Crackling sound in ALL EAX GAMES goes away.... So now clearly my issue with my sound card and EAX crackling noise is Memory related somehow. Now I have isolated it to 4 gigs of memory, but it makes me think of those folks with this issue perhaps something is amiss with their memory and how it works with timing, or onboard memory on the sound card which is a first time memory is put on a sound card?.... Any input is appreciated as to how to repair this issue, thanks for reading, below is my system set up.

    Evolve,
I have the a8n-sli Premium which as you stated is basically the same board with a couple extra items. I have the latest beta bios ver -06. Since the early fall release the option which we will be talking about was available in the premium board which it I remember was Bios rev 9. I would download the latest bios rev.
07.04 (latest beta?or go with 06)?and flash in. Here are the steps to get the proper memory options to work and I have also included my system specs to compare.
) Hit Del to get into Bios
    2) Go to the second tab on the top of the screen "Advanced"
    3) Select the first option in the menu "CPU Configuration"
    4) Select the first option in the "CPU Configuration" menu called "DRAM Configuration"
    5) Select Manual configuration from the first Menu item.
    6) The last two options in the same menu for DRAM are s/w remapping over 4G and h/w remapping over 4G. Select the "s/w remapping option over 4G" and enable it. Disable the "h/w remapping over 4G."?
    7) Hit f0 and save the config.
You should now at post have 4GBws total but only 3GBs of usable memory and your X-fi should crush it in XP64 and XP32.
    My Specs
    A8n-sli premium (Bios -06)
    amd X2 4400 (~2.5 GHZ)
4GB LL patriot memory (~228 HZ)
    X-Fi Extreme Music
LSI 320-2e PCI express SCSI RAID controller (256MB buffer)
    2x Seagate Cheata 5K.3?dri'ves
    All water cooled
    Good Luck
    PapaH
By the way this is defiantly a XP64 driver problem because even with h/w remapping enabled in XP32 the card sounds fine. It only happens in XP64.

  • Microphone problems in Vista with XFI-ExtremeGa

Recently purchased the XFI and installed using just the creative drivers from this website (the 5th March release) however I am now totally confused.. do I install ANY of the software from the XFI installation CD?Secondly, how do I mute the microphone? I have it plugged into the rightmost socket on the back of the card (the white socket) but several things are not working. At no place inside Vista can I mute the mic.. if I turn the recording volume to 0% it doesn't make any difference, also without using the +20% mic boost any voice is incredibly quiet despite maximum recording volume, however if I use mic boost I get horrible hissing continuously!?So to summarize.. Microphone volume doesn't work at all?and no option to mute the mic, I have just a limited control panel with effects which seem to make little difference to sound quality and I am left wondering what I have bought for ?60.00 exactly?Anything I am doing wrong?

  • Xfi fatality. sound problems with other devi

hello all. just recently bought a xfi fatality card, and im trying to connect it to my xbox 360 to get sound, and thats when the problems start.i have a optical cable from my xbox 360 connector to the optical in on my fatality front panel and some headphones connected to the headphone jack, but i get no sound at all. i have also tried the rca inputs on the front panel but no sound there either.tried to hook up a dvd player to just to test it, but like always no sound. its not my xbox thats faulty?as i've tested it on my stereo. could someone please help me im at a loss and dont know what to do.i've tried to change stuff in console but to no use. thanks for your help and?replys paperman?ps have searched the forum but no luck?

I had this problem to begin with, its just because as default the SPDIF in is muted. If you open the launcher in entertainment mode go to the option where you can the volume to each kind of audio and at the top of the volume slider on some of the devices there is an arrow pointing down. Click on this and choose SPDIF and then unmute it. I'm having a further problem now though as i've got the sound playing from my PS2 but i cant get 5. from it on DVD videos only stereo, any ideas?

  • Breakout box + XFI Fatality

B Hi there, i have an XFI Fatality Pro sound card. The card is fine on its own. I have acquired a breakoutbox which i think is from the elite pro, has the model SB050 on the bottom...
Now using the AD LINK cable i connected it to my sound card, as soon as i do this i get loud static noise untill i either mute sound or remove the AD LINK cable. I've tried individually muting all inputs and outputs on my volume panel but only muting all sound stops the noise...
Am i simply not able to use this breakout box with my Fatality sound card? Or are there drivers i should install to enable the breakout box functionality?
Forgot to mention im on Vista 64, core2duoMessage Edited by Creomortis on 05-5-2009 04:40 PMMessage Edited by Creomortis on 05-5-2009 04:4 [email protected]

to the best of my understanding *(only from past experience, I dont have one of these)* the two are not compatible. The Breakout box you are talking about is for an elite pro, while the Fatality connects only to an i/o dri've or li've dri've as it used to be called. you may have mistakenly connected the breakout box to the MIDI connector/joystick port on the back of the sound card.

  • XFI Fatality Gamer + GigaWorks S750 + Decoder DDTS-

    Dear Sir,
Im using XFI Fatality Gamer + GigaWorks S750 + Decoder DDTS-00 ( just bought it ) and the question is I feel no difference ( Dolby Digital and DTS Effect ) when I'm not using the Decoder.
    What I've done is I already :
Connect cable from my soundcard to switch box and then another cable I connect it from my Gigaworks to switch Box. And then from the switch box it self I connect it into the decoder. All the cable im using is the standard from Creative. I haven't used any coax or optical cable.
Looking forward and really appreciated for the assistance.
    Many Thanks.

To connect your Soundblaster NX to your DDTS-100 decoder, and let the decoder handle the DD/DTS decoding, you have to connect a digital/optical/coax cable, from the digital output of the NX, to one of the digital inputs on the decoder.. Also make sure you have set the settings on the souncard, to "digital output only", so that the decoder can decode the encoded digital streams, sendt by the soundcard..
if you want to connect your soundcard to the decoder via analog cables, and let the soundcard do the decoding it self, you will need to use a 7.1 analog-audio cable, that comes with both the decoder and the speaker system. Connect the audio cable from the analog output on the soundcard, to the input "switch-box", and set the switch-box to "PC-audio". Also make sure you have connected your speakers to the "switch-box".

  • "problem with shortcut/fatal error during installation" on other user accts

I-tunes installed and works with no problem in original user, but when another user account attempts to open Itunes, program attempts to install/configure again, then results in a "problem with shortcut / fatal error during installation" message. Setting the other users to administrators doesn't help, nor does un-installing/re-installing, etc. I am at least the 4th person with this problem (see Burthomp earlier today,Jan. 17 and Richard 1018 on Dec. 29). This problem started with Itunes 7.5, and is still a problem on Itunes 7.6. I have a standard Dell setup, Model E510. There must be a lot of people with this problem. Apple, are you working on this? Anyone else have a suggestion?

I ran into the same problem, but I think I have the solution. First, the problem isn't with iTunes, its an access problem with Windows XP. I tried to run the iTunes program from the Program Files, and I received an "Access Denied" error.
If you try to open the Program Files in My Computer\Local Disk(C:) and receive an "Access Denied" Error, that is why you are receiving a "shortcut problem/Fatal Error during installation".
Here is how I corrected it:
    1) Shut down the computer and restart it in "safe mode". I had to look up how to do this, but I pressed F8 when it was restarting and I highlighted the "safe mode" and started the machine. The icons will be large, but ignore it.
    2) Open a user that has administrative access -- I used the one user that has access to itunes.
    3) Go to My Computer\Local Disk (C:) and right click on the "Program Files" folder. Select "properties" at the bottom.
    4) Go to the Security Tab
    5) At the top you should see one or two users that have access to the Programs File. One will be the user that itunes works on. Click Add, then click Advanced, then click Find Now.
    6) At the bottom should appear a list of users. Select a user on which itunes doesn't work. Click Ok, then click OK again.
    7) Give that user full access to the Program File by putting a check mark in the Full Access box.
    8) Repeat for the remaining users.
    9) Restart computer in normal mode.
    10) Go into a user that had problems and click the itunes icon, and it should run.
It worked for me, I hope it works for you.

  • What kind of external microphone can I use with the MacBook Pro?

What kind of microphone can I use with GarageBand in MacBook Pro ?

It depends which MBP you have. Some of the newer ones don't have an audio in port, so you need a USB adapter with an audio in jack.

  • BUG: Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal exception

After downloading the new Oracle JDeveloper 10g production, migrating all my projects, everytime I try to make/rebuild any file or package, I get the following error:
Internal compilation error, terminated with a fatal exception
This happens if use either JAVAC or OJC.
    Regards,
    Yaniv Kunda

I think the error reporting is wrong, since dbMessages.java is a translated SQLJ file, and the specified method exists in the SQLJ file around that line number - and not in the java file resulting from the translation.
Note that line 2958, in the SQLJ file, was the simple MessageHeader.Iter messageHeaderIter; line.
The definition of this class, is in a SQLJ file, which content is:
    package telemessage.db.impl.iterators;
    import java.sql.Timestamp;
    * Contains an iterator for viewing message headers in folder view.
    public class MessageHeader {
