No microphone sound is being recor

Hello. I have bought a new computer and with the new computer, I got a X-FI Fatalty soundcard with both a "big" thing that is in front of my computer and a "normal" one. However, I got a microphone with a big plug or something, that I plugged in to "Flexijack" (Is it called Flexijack? You know the big thing on the front of my computer :P? http://www.minhembio.com/bild/66248.jpg?above Mic?in 2"?). Yeah, now to my point: I can hear my sound when I speak but Windows doesnt record the sound, in fact, it shows that no sound is being "recorded" though I can hear my voice through the speakers. What shall I do? I've enabled Mic/In on the settings, disabled Digital IO as the Knowledge base told me but still it doesnt work. Any ideas? =)?

  • Problems with microphone sound in iChat

    Hello Ralph,
(I already thought I sent this but I didn't see it as a new topic, so I am trying again). I'm new to this discussion thing, it's my first time so I hope I've submitted this correctly.
I have similar, but extended and more complicated problems with "microphone sound in iChat". (Sorry, this email is a bit lenghty becuase I have already done a lot of my homework on trouble shooting this.)
I began by using iChat with a high impedance microphone (from an old 1970'scassette player) PLUGGED DIERCTLY IN THE THE MICROPHONE INPUT on the back of my G4 tower. (I DO NOT have a video camera). My Mom in Canada can hear me okay on it, only if I "eat" the microphone. (My Mom DOES have a video camera).
SO I BOUGHT AN iMic. I also bought a new condenser mic to go with my new iMic. I plugged iMic in and adjusted the sound preferences selection. I switched the iMic to "Mic". It did not work. The old cassette mic did not work at all with iMic either. My Mom could not hear me, and my "VU METER bar levels" on my iChat were not registering. (If I plug the condenser mic directly into the tower, Mom can hear me only if I "eat" the condenser microphone).
Next, with iMic, I wanted to try my Shure 58 microphone instead. My friend (who is an audio tech) made me a 1/8" to XLR (sheilded) cable. I made sure I had adjusted the sound preferences and switched the iMic to "Mic". The Shure 58 did not work with iMic. It also did not work plugging directly into the tower.
Next, with iMic, I wanted to try my "Plantronics telephone headset". My friend (the audio tech) then made me a 1/8"male to 1/8"mini feamle (sheilded) cable. My headset did not work with iMic. It also did not work plugging directly into the tower.
My friend, the audio tech, then made me second cable 1/8"male to 1/8"female (sheilded) cable. This cable I had him make 50 feet long so I could move to other areas in my home while audio chatting - so I don't have to be trapped in my office while talking. We ran the cable from iMic to the Old cassette mic and the new condenser mic. They did not work with iMic.
We also tried plugging the new 50ft cable directly into the back of the G4 Tower and it worked with the old cassette mic and the new condenser mic, BUT the volume was reduced and there was a loud baseball game being broadcast through the cable - according to my Mom. I could not hear anything from my end - not my own voice and not the baseball game! IS THERE A WAY FOR ME TO MONITOR (actually hear) THE SOUND THAT SHOULD BE COMING THROUGH THE MIC?
I have tried to trouble shoot these issues on line, but can't seem to find the right solutions. In one of your discussions I read that you suggested to select the iChat preference for Video and select microphone. I CANNOT SEE THE FULL WINDOW UNDER iChat Video Preferences!!!! All I can see is the top half of a large empty box that says "There is no camera attached to this computer". (That's because I have no camera, but I DO HAVE a microphone).
I also found some support about adjusting microphone levels using iMovie. I do not have iMovie on my Mac.
Yes, I have already adjusted the AUDIO MIDI SETUP settings.
My audio tech friend and I are both baffled. iMic is useless to me so far - perhaps you can help to get me up and chatting properly? Do I really need iMovie and/or a video camera to fix this???
BY THE WAY: When I plug my external speakers into iMic and select iMic in preferences for output, my speakers and sound is very inferior to the using the speaker terminal on my tower. i Mic is supposed to better???????
Thanking you for your help in advance,
    Marlene

    Hi Ralph,
    A funny thing just happened...
The iChat prefernce window for "VIDEO" finally opened (!!) all the way, so for the FIRST TIME EVER and I was able to see the microphone setting at the bottom of the window. (Because I have NO CAMERA, the window would never fully open before during the 100 or so times I tried to get it to open before. This must've been a fluke because now it won't fully open again).
While it was open I set the microphone setting to iMic, plugged my condenser mic into iMic and IT WORKED. Then I tried the long (baseball game) extension cord in the iMic (attached to the condenser mic) and IT WORKED TOO - with NO BASEBALL GAME!
I still have to have the condenser mic right up to my mouth, which shouldn't be - but considering I have spent a few weeks trying to troubleshoot this, "eating the mic" is only a minor annoyance at this point.
I just plugged my speakers into iMic and THEY WORK GREAT!
SO ALL MY PROBLEMS WERE BECAUSE: I could not set the microphone under Video in iChat preferences because the VIDEO PREFERENCE WINDOW DOES NOT FULLY OPEN WITHOUT A CAMERA ATTACHED. If it hadn't opened by fluke my iMic would still not be working.
I guess I'm all set now. Unless you have a suggestion why the condenser mic isn't picking up my voice from other than right by my mouth? It should be able to be a foot or two away at least.
    Thanks Ralph,
    Marlene
(By the way, I never did trash the com.apple.ichat.plist)

  • Bug? USB microphone sound over headset

Since the upgrade to Lion I can hear myself speak via the microphone of my Logitech USB headset through the headset itself. Not through the external speakers though. Whatever I set the output to, my sound is hearable through the headset.
Anyone else experiencing this? Is this a bug?
There is no 'mute microphone sound' option anywhere like there is in Windows as far as I know.

    Dear All,
My printer make a hard (crash?) sound when being operated. How to fix it? The printer is HP Deskjet 5440.
    Thank you

Does the carriage (the part that holds the print cartrdiges) bang into the sides of the printer?  If so then cleaning the encoder strip as described in this post may help.

  • My new iMac's internal microphone is not being recognized by other applications (such as Skype or rosetta stone)?

I just bought a new iMac.  I'm having trouble with the internal microphone.  I went to systems preferences> sound, and checked the input levels.  The computer shows recieved sound from internal microphone and a USB connected microphone.  However, no one on Skype can hear me, and microphone isn't recognized while using rosetta stone.  Does anyone know what could be the problem with my internal mic?

I did get an answer to my problem.  It was specifically with skype and Rossetta Stone.  I had to re-install the apps and then do the general upgrade.  It fixed the problem.  Works fine now.

  • When using Skype my IPad sounds like ocean. This is not a problem when I am on FaceTime or using other apps with sound.  Recently updated to newest IOS 7. First there was no sound for Kype and found that had to turn microphone sound on.

When using Skype my IPad 2 now sounds like the ocean and I can barely here my contact.  This happened recently after IOS7 update. I did turn the microphone on for Skype as it was required after update.  Now my sound is terrible but only a problem when using Skype video call.  It is okay for FaceTime.

Thank you!  Resetting resolved the issue with terrible sound when trying to use skype.  Sounds much better!
I am not sure what all changed when reset was applied to settings --- assume it defaults back to basic settings.  I have no idea what I had customized, so will slowly figure out.  I have noticed several things.  So far I had to add back my wallpaper and reenter password to get back on my wi-fi.
At least SKYPE is now audible.

  • Stereo Microphone Sound Cards

LabVIEW has a set of SI-Config/Read/etc VI's that take data from the computer's microphone input. A configuration option is Mono-versus-Stereo. Does anybody have a list (or even one example) of Stereo sound input cards that work with these LabVIEW SI VIs? (Including information such as: Microphone or Line level)
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

    Les,
I apologize for any confusion. What version of LabVIEW are you using? I know 7.0 has the example, but Im not sure what other versions have it. Ill attach it in case you still want it, but it looks like you have more of a hardware issue/question.
The sound VIs make dll function calls to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0\resource\lvsound.dll. Any mic or line in input should be configurable through this dll. It can handle both mono and stereo, 8-bit or 16-bit. These parameters are returned from the dll call from SI Read.vi, and can be viewed directly but putting indicators on the outputs from the dll call inside SI Read.vi.
Most any newer sound card should be compatible with this dll. Im surprised y
ou are having problems. What model/manufacturer sound card are you using? Most cards are now configurable for both input and output. I have an integrated sound card on my home computer. I was able to configure the three lines (line in, line out, and mic) for 6-channel output, 2 channels per line. Im pretty sure I could configure them all to be inputs as well, but it just depends on the manufacturer.
I just tested the attached VI here at work. Im on a Dell gx150 with their standard integrated sound card with a line in, line out, and mic. I was able to pick out a sound signal by plugging my speakers into the mic input and tapping them a bit. The line in didnt work the same, but that may be because I wasnt using an amplified mic (simply using my speakers).
Let me know if anything here helps, and if not, Ill be happy to keep digging. Thanks, and have a great day!

  • High Pitched Microphone sound

My laptop - ASUS K501L - produces a high pitched whistling sound, as well as other background static noises, when I use Skype. However, the problem is not present on other platforms, such as Google Hangouts and Line. I have tried manually adjusting the mic volume, but this does not fix the issue, and moreover it does not seem to change the volume of sound the receiving party hears. Plugging in earphones to eliminate audio feedback also does not work, but muting my mic stops the static the other end hears.
Thus, I have determined it is a problem with Skype, but I can't find any way to fix this. Help?
    Thanks!

Hey, great suggestion Burn. It prompted me to look at iChat preferences, since that was the only application that I've had open which might engage the internal microphone.
Within iChat Preferences, I clicked on the 'Video' icon, and for the 'Microphone' setting I saw that 'None selected' (or something like that - that option has gone now?) was in place. So I changed the setting to Internal Microphone. The whistle or screech was still there. Then I changed the setting to 'Line In'. No more screech!!
A good result, but is this the way it's supposed to be? Does having the setting as 'Line In' mean that I have to plug headphones in whenever I want to use iChat for internet telephony? Unless I manually change to Internal Microphone, but then I suffer screeching again?
    Cheers, Steven

  • Qosmio F60-118: Internal Microphone sounds over the Speakers

Since a few weeks every time I accidentaly touch the internal microphone I can hear a scratchy sound over the built-in speakers. Though in the System Control is the microphone deactivated. Any ideas how to switch off the internal microphone are very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The Microphone has two main volumes.
The Recording Volume, which you can set high.
The Playback Volume (found in the Speaker output settings), which is the feedback you are hearing. You may mute this volume.
If you still hear feedback, Skype or another program may be taking control of the Mic Volume.

  • How do i actionscript my flash button to play the sound while being transfered to another url?

    Hi!
    As the title says:
How do i get my flash button to play my sound when i click on
it while being transfered to another url?
I did get it to work, but only when i set the script to
"_BLANK". When i clicked the button then it played the sound and
opened the url in a new window. I want it to be in the same window
and still play the whole sound.
Now i get just 1 or 2 sec then when im transfered, it stops
    playing the sound.
I hope this explains it..... if any typo....its because im
    Swedish =)
    Thanks in advance!

If you are jumping to another URL using the same window you
cannot have a sound start on the press of a button and that sound
    to continue on.
    Reason
You are removing all trace of the sound and the swf that
    contains that sound file.
    Work arounds
1.Take a look at "frames". This way you are keeping the
container page and opening another page inside of that page.
    2. Div's. again you are importing a page into a particular
area yet keeping the swf, with the sound playing, in the parent
    frame.

  • Microphone sound very weak on MBA 13,

I tried to use Facetime on my new 13" MBA, tonight, and the person at the other end could barely hear me, even though I had the internal mic turned all the way up in the Sound Prefs. To be heard I had to get my mouth near the track pad. Also, while my voice was too soft to hear, key strokes were loud on the other end. It sounds as if the mic is covered so that it picks up conducted sound but not ambient sound. Any advice? Where is the microphone located?

The microphone is located just to the right of the headphone jack. It appears as a small filled circle of tiny holes.
Have you tried toggling the "ambient noise reduction" setting in the sound prefs?
These are my settings, and it seems to work fine for Skype and recording.

    hi JilleeBreeze,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Disable Microphone Boost by opening Control Panel (icon Views) > Sound > Recording Tab. Select the Microphone that you're using then click Properties > Levels Tab.
       - Link to picture
    2. Enable / Disable Audio Enhancements and observe
       - navigate to Control Panel (Icon Views) > Smart Audio and see if you can disable Microphone Noise Reduction, Echo Cancellation, etc.

  • Satellite A100-532: microphone sound volume is extremely low

I just bought Satellite A100-532 and I have a problem with sound input. I can't use microphone to chat with my friend on msn or even to record my voice on to the hard drive because the sound volume is extremely low.
I tried turning up all the volume on the desktop and on the RealTek HD sound manager but did not help. Microphone is working perfectly fine as I can hear myself well on the speakers.
Normally, with my old laptop (M30 series) I could use the Sound Recorder to record music which I play using Winamp or WinMediaPlayer but for this new laptop it does not detect any sound at all..just silence.
    Please advise.

    Hi
You should check also the volume controls in the "Sound & Audio devices" in control panel.
In the "Volume" tab please go to "Advanced".
Then a "Volume control" should appear.
Check if all controls are set to high level.
Furthermore enter the "options" and "properties" and enable all volume controls.
Change also to "recording" and enable there also all controls.
Additional you should check if the all "recording controls" are set to high.
Use "Advanced" option of mic and play around with the mic boost settings.
I'm sure you will find the best settings for your mic recording

    MDR-10RBT - Bluetooth connection -
I have got these headphones connection to my laptop and they are showing up as connected as both a A2DP device and also a hands free headphone.
I have directed Skype to use the hands free device for the microphone but it sounds like I am stuck in a box 100 miles from the microphone.
Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas on how to fix?
