NO MINIMIZED WINDOWS in Mission Control / Lion

Anyway (tweak) to show minimized windows in mission control?

App Expose is fine if you knew the window you were looking for was minimized, instead of hidden behind another window.
Also you need to be in that app to bring up its minimised windows - which is irritating if you are using more than one app to manipulate files.

  • How to see hidden apps & minimized windows in Mission Control?

Does anyone know how to configure Mission Control so that I can see hidden apps and minimized windows?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    YES . you get it.
Not thing to apologize. you don;t do anything wrong. sorry about my word i'm not good in english.
    it call Minimize windows
by your answer that is ok. The window will go to stay on Dock by click in  >System Preference >Dock > Uncheck Minimize windows into application.
but someone (me and topick owner Jmayorperes) we check in minimize window to application icon . because i want a static Dock . dont want many icon on Dock when i minimize.
and old style expose is allow me to see all active window and all minimize windows in same place. by move mouse to hot corner .
But Lion if you want to see  Minimize window you must >>>  .. hold click to icon and select > show all window .. That's it.   http://postimage.org/image/2wd9ly7no/
but i think 1-2 second difference not good .
That why we try to get it back . it just change by apple. maybe it good for people who use touchpad or andything i don't know.
but for me it difference. and have to change behavior hope it come back in next update

  • Missing minimized windows in Mission Control

Mission Control - in general - is something I like most about the new Mac OS Lion. But there is one thing missing:
since Mission Control attempts to give a total view of all desktops and all windows inside them or generally an overview of everything currently running, the minimized windows should definitely be part of Mission Control.
Since the minimized windows do not belong to a cerstain desktop, there should be a nice horizontal line at the bottom of the Mission Control overview and all the minimized windows under this line.
What do you think of it?

  • Can't See All Windows in Mission Control

My favorite feature on the mac has always been the ability to see all open windows with a simple click (F3 on my keyboard). I often have multiple word documents and multiple pdf files open, as well as two or three different browser windows, several image files, and who knows what else. It is very common for me to have 10-20 open windows and it was always a huge help to be able to see them all at once, with filenames that would pop up when hovering with the mouse. This feature made it incredibly easy to move from file to file and truly see everything on the desktop at once.
As far as I can tell, this is no longer possible with Lion and Mission Control. Now if I have multiple windows open in a single application and enter Mission Control I see them tiled over one another, without filenames displayed for any. Sure, I can see all the applications I have open, but what good is that if I can't see which files I have? It's making it very difficult to work effectively-- basically I have to minimize each window one by one until I find the one I want.
Am I missing something? Can anyone using Lion tell me how to see a graphic representation of ALL open windows, with filenames? Like I could in the good old days? Or is there something like a "see all open files" ability in Finder?
    Thanks!

I know what you mean - it was nice to see all the windows.

To mitigate this problem there is "App expose" which lets you see all open windows for any given application.
And, in Mission Control you can spread a given application's windows a little further apart or you can preview any given window within Mission Control.
How you do all that stuff depends on how you've configured mouse, keyboard and trackpad. For example, on my trackpad, to spread MC windows a bit I slide two fingers up (with cursor over the group of windows). To preview a given window, I put the cursor over the window and hit the space bar. For me, App expose can be activated by 4 fingers down for the frontmost app, and four fingers down with the cursor over the chosen app in the dock.

  • Indesign cs6 menu and tool bar disappear between windows using mission control in mountain lion

heres 2  screen grabs before and after. while navigating between 'spaces' using mission control in mountain lion. issue -  the menu and tools bars disappear - not all of them just parts of them. to get back i hit 'tab' button twice which hides and shows tools. very annoying - does anyone know of a fix or is this another bug which i have to live with. im using a macpro june 2012/running 10.8.4 and 2 screens - left for artboard - right for all tool windows.

thanks steve - yes that works as does using the tab key - all well....until i move to another 'space' and then come back again.
for example: my setup is like this - no2 space has indesign project. no3 space has photoshop. so im working on a page within indesign and i need to edit an image- i double click the pic and it opens in photoshop on the other 'space' save the file and go back to indesign to update pic and find menu/tools all over the place - so hit tab twice back to normal -  until i 'move' out of that space into another - photoshop/ mail/ whatever - as i toggle between spaces the indesign menu will always be 'corrupt' for a better word. hope that makes sense.

  • Minimized apps in Mission Control

I've noticed a difference in Mission Control over Exposé, and I wanted to check it isn't just me.
In SL, windows from any apps that are minimized to the Dock show up as small thumbs at the bottom of the screen.
In Lion, this doesn't seem to be happening. In the example below, there is an iCal window minimized on the desktop; you can just see it above the Trash.
Has anyone else seen this, or is it just another way that MC is different? (The white window visible in the Desktop thumb at the top is Grab's timer screen)

Yes, I completely agree. I can't see how to see minimized programs in MC either and it is extremely annoying.
Another annoyance is programs appear in different places from one use of Mission Control to another a few seconds later.

  • "Show All Windows" in Mission Control

    Hey everyone!
In Snow Leopard you had this amazing feature that when you push and hold the mouse button on an active application in the dock, all the windows of that application would pop up beside each other.
Doing so in Lion just generates a sub-menu, where you have to click the "Show All Windows" yourself.
Is it possible to get the Snow Leopard function in Lion?
    Thanks!

I dont use the Trackpad, just a mouse. Moments after I typed it, the answer was suggested already:
CTRL+Mission Control button does exactly what I want.
Is it possible to reconfigure this shortcut to the Snow Leopard way? (Pushing and holding the mouse button on an app in the dock for the same results)
    Thanks,

  • IMac does not show open windows in Mission Control

Ever since I installed Mountain Lion on my 2008 iMac 24", I've had a problem in Mission Control where the Desktop that the OS boots into will not show a preview of any windows open in that desktop. I have a new 2012 MacBook Air that does not have this problem. I thought the 10.8.1 update might fix it but no luck. Originally, I upgraded from Snow Leopard but eventually did a clean install and manually restored documents so that all the preferences/system files would be fresh, but still no luck.
A screenshot of what I mean is attached. I have FF open in desktop 1, but it does not show at the top, whereas all other desktops show window previews.
Has anyone else had this problem and have you managed to fix it?

  • Split Window using Mission Control

    Lion 10.7.2
    13" MacBook Pro
I would like to be able to work with two programs, each occupying half of the screen, TurboTax and a word processor or spread sheet. I will not be able to copy and paste.
Is there a way to do this using Mission Control, splitting the screen into two windows? If not, is there a way to accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Mission Control Lion 10.7.3 assigning apps to desktops

How do I get an app to stick in a desktop.
I have the mission control desktop and then desktops 1 through 7.
I have them all opening up various applicaitons, but even though I move the app to the desktop I want, and I shut down with the app open in that desktop, on restart it opens up in the wrong desktop...always the same one, but always the wrong one.
iTunes - I put it in Desktop 7, its there when I shut down.  It always opens up in Desktop 1.  I don't have trouble with calendar, mail, addressbook.
Also, sometimes 'finder' folders that I have left open in a specific window when I shut down do not open up on restart.  They do sometimes, but most of the time not.
    Thanks!

If you are running the program ctrl+click on its dock's icon.
    Choose Options -> This Desktop
If you also want to always keep in sequence all spaces, in System Preferences uncheck

  • Switch between Windows in Mission Control

What is the shortcut to switch between windows, add a Space or delete a space in Mission Control?
I bring Mission Control with CONTROL - UP. However, once I see all windows, I cannot choose the application with a keyboard shortcut, nor add or delete a space with a keyboard shortcut.
    Any ideas?

Control  right/left arrow or control space number will switch between Desktops.
Tom delete a Desktop, select it and an X should appear in the top left corner of the Desktop.
To add a Desktop, slide the cursor to the top right corner and a + sign should appear.

  • Close windows in mission control

    Hi,
I often have lots of windows of the same app open. It's always a hassle to close some of them, because you always have to go into mission control, bring up the window you want to close, and then close it. Same for websites that have lots of popups that safari doesn't manage to block. It's a total dread to bring them up and close them one by one.
Wouldn't it be much easier if you could close windows directly from within mission control? An idea for the next OSX update?

  • If an app has no window open, mission control can't bring it back

If you open for example Safari and close all its window, if you then 3 finger swipe up to mission control, you see nothing. The only switch to Safari now is Cmd-Tab.  There should be a app icon so you can click it to bring the app to the front and get a active menu bar.

  • Starting yesterday, Firefox would not anchor to a single window on my MacBook Pro running Lion. Every time I change to a new window, Firefox appeared with a flash. Could not assign it a window using Mission Control. Any ideas?

If I open Firefox and attempt to scroll to an open window on my macbook, the screen flashes and Firefox appears in the new window. Firefox screen flashes after scrolling to it even if already resident on that window.
