No Mobile Me, No USB Wired sync and NO help
Can someone please help me going out of my mind. I am a mac user of 7 years and have recently bought an iphone. I have a MM membership and in the first 2 weeks everything (calendar and contacts) went through the cloud seamlessly. 2 days ago it stopped working. Contacts are fine but calendar events dont sync from iphone through to ical and the entourage. The change or the new calendar event then reverts to its previous state (in the case of a change from iphone) or deletes itself completely (in the case of a new event entered through iphone). I unregistered my computer, deleted all the mobile me and ical, address book data and reset all sync info. I also did a restore on my iphone. I then tried syncing through itunes with a usb cable. The exact same issue.

If you have Contacts and Calendars enabled for over the air syncing with your MM account on your iPhone, you can't sync direct with the Address Book and iCal or with Entourage via the iTunes sync process. You can do one or the other, not both at the same time.
When you restored your iPhone with iTunes, did you restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup?
If you restored your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup and there is a problem with your iPhone's backup, doing so restores the problem with your iPhone.
If your MM online calendars and calendar events match the Address Book and iCal or with Entourage on your Mac, try turning Calendars off for over the air syncing with your MM account on your iPhone. This will erase all calendars and calendar events from your iPhone. Follow this by turning Calendars back on. Test if this resolves the problem when entering a calendar event on your iPhone.

Contacts etc sync fine. Went to calendar preferences and it won't let me sync cuz it says: Your mobileme suscr info is not correct or you did not turn on sync in mobile me prefs - well, my mobile me subscription must be ok, I'm in and out of it easily enough, checked the acct fields, and my other stuff is working fine. I did go to mobile me prefs and it is all set to sync, calendar is checked, it says the last sync was 15 min ago. Ak! What is up? I did just upgrade the mobile me calendar. Is that my problem?

There's no simple answer to that. My calendar goes back to 2004 and is moderately busy; it took around an hour. It's possible that you've hit a slow period on the server - it happens.
In order for it to work, your calendars should show on the MobileMe site, they should be listed under your MobileMe login name in the calendar list in iCal (calendars listed under 'On My Mac' will not sync) and your MM account details have to be entered in iCal Preferences>Accounts (this should have happened by itself).

How do I get my pc to recignize my 3gs iphone when I plug in the USB to sync and backup
When I plug the USB into my pc and 3gs Iphone itunes does not recognize it as being plugged in. I have no trouble with my Ipad. I have tried different USB ports. The most current version of Itunes is being used. What can I to do sync and backup my phone?

Can I get these events back in iCal or do I have to re enter them? Is there a way to 'revert'? How do I get the ipod calendar to not duplicate events?
Set up my semester's schedule for the university where I teach and now it's all blank on the mobileme and ical calendars on computers.should clarify that I deleted duplicate events on the ipod so that should have left one in ical. there is still one listed in ical on the ipod but not on the computer, so deleting duplicate entry deleted it entirely from my ical on computer and mobile me. no icloud yet

I have an iPod Touch version iOS 4.2.1, 8 G capacity, and whenever iTunes tries to sync my iPod, I get an error message saying "Mobile Backup has encountered a problem and needs to close", and the sync fails. I have tried deleting and reinstalling iTunes, and the same thing happens. What can I do to fix this problem?

Setup: Mobile laptop users authenticating against an ODM. Every user has a networked home directory on an Xserve. The whole setup is 10.4 (client and server). All systems run a standard image. Most effected systems have been re-imaged since the onset of the issue.
Issue: Some of the users are not syncing properly every time. It is as if the system forgets it is a mobile system and reverts to using the User's network home (instead of saving to /Users and syncing). If the user is effected, the system will not even accept cached credentials if they are off network. This forgetfulness does not seem to follow any pattern and does not effect all of our mobile users.
In mucking about trying to find a cause to this issue I ran across an oddity in all effected systems Netinfo database. The users are each listed twice. Each entry has the same username, short name and UID. Also, In each case one record looks wrong... this varies somewhat from user to user, but in each case there is marked difference in the record's contents. Deleting the incomplete record in Netinfo manager seems to solve the issue (seems, as we are very early in testing this).
Anyone have a clues as to where this double came from? The only lead so far is that it looks like the users having issues pre-date the use of mobile accounts. At some time they all had local accounts that authenticated against the ODM but never synced or had networked home directories. The pool of users who just got laptops (and thus never had a local account) seem unaffected so far.
Also, what is the best way to browse the ODM master to find these duplicates?I have a similar issue with computers bound to Active Directory. Users occasionally have a problem logging into their computers even though their account is fine. Logging in as Admin and running netinfo manager always shows duplicate user accounts. Deleting the one that says disabled always clears up the issue. I'd like to find a startup script that would delete the disabled account, thus preventing the issue.

My problem - when syncing and error messages comes up: iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because an error occurred while margin data." I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing. What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?
Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted : a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone. I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them. It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!

After installing the 64 bit version of itunes my iphone still won't sync. I get the explantation that I mobile driver application did not download and i need to remove and reinstall itunes (which I have done numberous times). Any help?
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now? -
LR Mobile stopped syncing and still isn't syncing after recent updates! Please help!!
Running LR 5.6 on my iMac and LR Mobile on my iPad and iPhone.
The syncing worked for the most part... sometimes I had to delete the cache on my desktop to trigger syncing but nothing works to make the LR sync.
I have created new collections in LR on desktop and marked them to sync with LR Mobile, at the same time I stopped syncing some other collections... My Web and iPad collections have not updated. They show the collections for which the syncing was turned off in LR Desktop. I can't get it to sync. Please help. My perfect photo workflow is broken now.
And by the way, all my apps on iPhone and iPad are up to date.Could you please send me a LR Desktop diagnostig log - best as a private message with a downloadable dropbox link.
You can trigger the log via LR Desktop preferences -> Lightroom Mobile and when you hold down the alt key you will notice a generate diagnostic log button.

Lightroom Mobile sync and 2 computers

I've looked but I can't see a specific answer to this question, so I thought I'd make it my first posting.
I've just subscribed to Creative Cloud for Lightroom. I liked the idea of being able to sync different devices and continue work whilst I'm out, but I made a massive assumption that, I think, turns out not to be correct.
I thought that once I had synchronised a collection with the cloud, I could access it on my mobile device. This is true, and works well.
But, I also thought that if I had a 2nd computer with Lightroom on, it could also be used to work on the synchronised collection. It turns out that this isn't the case.
It seems such an obvious use case to me, especially given that when you subscribe to Creative Cloud, you can use Lightroom on 2 machines.
Here's my situation.
I have a Mac Pro in the house which is the main work station. I have a MacBook Air, I use when I'm out and about. I want to be able to use the MBA to at least do my "picks" when I'm travelling. I know I can use my iPhone/iPad for that, but the screen on the MBA is so much better, plus if I really wanted to, I could do a bit of developing on the MBA (I don't really see myself ever doing it on a Mobile device).
Am I missing something? Is there a way to get Lightroom on my MBA to see the 'Mobile' version of the collection the iPhone can see?

You can't do this using the normal desktop Lightroom application on your laptop, but what you can do is use Lightroom Web via your browser on any computer.
So on the MBA, go into your browser and log into your Adobe account at https://lightroom.adobe.com/. You can then:
use the P, U, X keyboard shortcuts to add pick flags
use numbers 0-5 to add ratings
remove photos from collections
let others see a collection by making it public, sharing to FB etc, giving them the Adobe URL
add new originals to LrMobile by dragging them from the laptop's folders and dropping them in the browser - the newly uploaded file will be automatically added to your main catalogue. Try this, it's got lots of potential uses.
What you can't do is email individual pictures from the browser (unless I overlooked something) and you can't do any Develop work.

i upgraded new software onto my iphone 4 however it stopped syncing and said error so when i tried to access my phone the itunes USB was showing in my phone screen and now i cannot access my phone
When it stopped and said error, what was the error? You are saying that you disconnected the phone from the computer and all you see is the USB showing on the phone? Then you need to reconnect to the computer and restore the phone.

Just about to return a D-Link dub-H7 hub as it seems to becausing issues with the USB ports on the iMac. All seems well when i leave a device charging when I go to bed but in the morning none of the iMac ports work until i restart.This is the problem with these ports. I bought a powered USB at MicroCenter last winter. It had 7 ports, two were designated for high powered devices and yet I plug in one iPhone to charge and within a few minutes, the hub will disconnect from the computer.
All I can recommend is searching for POWERED hubs on Amazon and read the reviews. Not sure if there are some that will actually work but trying a few can get expensive. -
While looking to upgrade to a newer MBP, found out latest version of iTunes does not support wired syncing of iCal and contacts. Syncing of these must be done through iCloud. This is a deal breaker for me for several reasons. Are there any workarounds or do I have to go back to a PC with my tail tucked between my legs?
When you say wired syncing, are you meaning between an iphone and your mac?

Had the same issue. Tried everything that was posted for troubleshooting bye apple and on the discussions.
Finally, tried something that solved it and it works flawlessly now. I changed my wireless router.
I was using my ISP's supplied ZyXEL PN660 ADLS2+ with Wireless N. Swtiched to an older Linksys WRT160N and it is working beautifully now.
Take a look at your router, make sure the firmware is up to date, and that UPnP is enabled, and if all is correct, and you have done everything else, try another Wireless router if you can. -
