No More 48k Recoding?
I notice that since upgrading to a Mac Pro, audio recordings made in QT Player are 44.1k, as opposed to 48k. And so they have to be converted before import to FCP. Anyone know why?

Well that was an easy fix. Brilliant! It works. I never would have looked there.
Thanks.

Oracle report is not running on application server with more than 700 recod
Hi,
I have developed oracle report using dev suite report builder. When I am running using report builder then its running fine. Whenever I am deploying on application server and trying to run then its not executing. Then I have deployed same report with less than 700 records then its run fine.
Please advice me if you have any solution
thanks in advance
umeshHi Pavan,
Thanks for reply.
I have resolved this issue. This issue happen because of report server not able to handle large data. To resolve this issue I have made report server traces service off. Because of making traces off the report server fully utilized for report generation.
Thanks,

NicoHello Winsoton and thanks for your reply. I also tried to open it with various programs I have, iMovie, Quicktime, HandBrake, iTunes, no luck
As to what EZ Jim said, yes Photo Booth is a basic, fun app. and one should not rely on it to record important clips on it but its not that I chose to record an important clip there, just that it coincidently started as a fun clip but ended up being important after. Kinda like coincidently capturing video footage of a UFO with your cheap camera phone one day you were recoding a nice sunset, in the end you wish you could of had a HD professional video camera instead of your phone lol. Not that I caught UFO's on tape through my imac's Photo Booth lol. Just using it as an example to why the clip is important.
Anyhow, the issue here, so as to not get out of the subject by discussing why it is an impotant clip, is that I am trying to figure out if anyone has been able to open a file like that with any program, or knows a way to do it.
Anyhow, thanks for your guy's replies. Im still trying to figure it out how to open it.
If anyone finds out how to, let me and Jvaldez know, i think we are in the same situation, trying to open a .mov file that was recorded on Photo Booth without hitting the stop button in the end to end it, but rather closing the program.

hey there, when i bounce my file types save as aifc? HOW DO I GET THIS TO STOP?
I was told that this is because if might be compressed, but it dosnt actually mean that they are
does anyone know why my files are saving like this?
and how do I return it to normal aiff files?
I do not detect a sound difference, but I want to be pure
also, what is everyone recording at 41 or 48?

When you bounce out of Logic, you mean? In that case, don't worry about it. The file is not compressed if saved as Wav SD2 or aif - aifc may not be comped as you mentioned.
I usually record at 96, but I think more people than not record below 50. If you are recording for cd (44100) and stuck between 44.1 and 48 - I'd just 44 it.

Glad you brought this subject up Scott. Logic's not saving my files as AIFC, though, always AIFF. But files I import from one of my collaborator's system saves as AIFC, and I've been wondering about this.
I record at 44 or 48, as needed, and the highest sampling rate I've ever been asked for by a client (including some 'name' animation studios) is 48K. While it's fun to hear sound at higher sampling rates, I'd rather be disappointed sooner than later.Nah, dealt with him before. He is only prepared to help if it will make him an overnight profit of millions, otherwise he couldn't care less. I'll just speak to a solicitor about whether I have a legal case against them or not, and if I do, I'll take Ian Livingston personally to court, after all, he is the boss and therefore responsible for actions of employees acting on behalf of the company.

IPod Video Woes? - Nero Recode 2 Works Great!
Well, like many of you, I've tried to convert video unsuccessfully to my iPod. I've tried Videora, PSP Video 9 and a few other programs. Not ONE of these programs has created a successful video that can be ported to the iPod (even though, for some, that's ALL they are advertised to do). The Videora iPod Converter is a program to convert, yet it doesn't work for me AT ALL... even using the SP modes. Sure, it loads into iTunes fine, but getting it to load into the actual iPod is another, sad, sad story! LOL!
We all are aware that, as of right now, the H.264 codec doesn't seem to be working for many of us and MPEG-4 is, so I finally got my iPod and tried Nero Recode 2 today (part of the Nero 7 Ultra Edition).
Using Nero Recode 2, I was successful in not only creating 320x240 files that loaded into iTunes, but they also loaded right into my new iPod with no playback problems, errors, or skipping. I used a 1.78:1 16:9 source (a DVD that was ripped to my hard drive) and loaded it into Nero using the following settings:
In AUDIO #1 I set it to:
STEREO (CUSTOM PROFILE) LC (LOW COMPLEXITY) NERO DIGITAL AUDIO @ 48,000 Hz and 160 kbit/s
For VIDEO the Setting I used the slider to set the "Video Quality" to 764.6 Kbps
Make sure you UNCHECK the "Fit to Target" box and then click on the VIDEO button on the right (underneath the CHAPTER button). Since it was an anamorphic DVD I was using, I disabled "Deinterlace", disabled "Crop" and I resized to 320x240 and checked the LETTERBOXING (SQUARE PIXEL) box. Checking this box is necessary with anamorphic material so that the final file you create will be properly letterboxed (not stretched) in the 320x240 display on the iPod (it'll have the black bars properly placed at the top and bottom of the video).
Click NEXT after adjusting the above settings...
In NERO DIGITAL SETTINGS, make sure EXPERT MODE is checked.
Encoding Method = High-Quality Encoding (2 pass)
Quality/Speed = Extra Quality
Advanced = Check "Simple Profile (QuickTime Compatibility)"
Then hit BURN and come back in a couple hours.
Your file should be done and ready to load onto your iPod with very nice picture and sound quality and in the proper aspect ratio for the iPod screen.
The ONLY thing I wish Nero Recode could do is, like in Videora and PSP Video 9, raise the volume level of the encoded sound. I watched my movie through the headphones on my iPod and it sounded great, but I had the volume turned all the way up to the max. I wish there was a setting to boost the audio a bit, but at least the videos actually WORK!
I hope this helps you all.
I have used the above settings for three films so far and all are fine. They range between 600-800 meg in size. That's big, but I have a 60 gig iPod, so I have plenty of room. If you want smaller files, maybe try 128kbit/s instead of 160 kbit/s for the audio and lower the video bit rate slider a bit.I have converted 6 movies now with Nero Recode 2 and transferred them to my iPod. The audio ISN'T that low on any of them. As a matter of fact, the audio is perfectly acceptible, but the volume is turned all the way up. At the max volume setting, the audio is at just about the point where my ears want to turn it down, but it's OK.
The main reason why I wish the audio could be boosted a little is because, if the movies are slightly low and I turn up the volume, then I STOP watching a movie and switch to music, the music might be soooo loud, it'll blast my ears because of the volume differences between the two formats (this happened last night and it was certainly annoying). People might forget to turn down the volume when switching programs/audio.
So far NO movie convert app has got all the bells and whistles to be a perfect solution for converting movies.
NERO RECODE works, but lacks a volume adjustment in the files. It also allows you to letterbox your source video properly for the iPod display if you use anamorphic widescreen videos. It also imports DVD VOB files perfectly, with no sync issues.
VIDEORA IPOD CONVERTER does have a volume adjustment capability, but doesn't adjust the 16:9 image to add letterboxing bars for proper playback on the iPods 320x240 screen. It would work for full-screen material, I guess, but it still doesn't work for me on my system for some reason, even in MPEG4 SP mode. The resulting video files DO load into iTunes and can be played on my computer, but not on the iPod. When loading the files to the iPod, the audio plays... the movies don't. Some people are saying Videora works for them, but I can't get anything to play on my iPod using the SP/320x240/768/128 MPEG4 profile. Must have something to do with the fact that I'm using VOB files, maybe?
I've tried PSP VIDEO 9, to no avail, as well...
I guess I could go the whole TMPGENC to 320x240 route and adjust the audio there, but that would mean I'd have to rip and re-encode the video to MPEG2 first, THEN covert again to the iPod MPEG4 format. That would mean re-encoding the audio/video twice (degrading the video even more than it would be otherwise) and it would take MUCH longer to do. But, this being said, it might be the steps I'd need to take to actually get Videora iPod Converter to work properly.
Someone needs to create a program that successfully converts DVD movies directly from the VOB file structure, allows up to 160kbits/s encoding on the audio (as well as audio volume adjustment) and that allows for you to reformat the video to 320x240 letterbox format for 16:9 anamorphic materials. Nero Recode 2 is ALMOST perfect... but not quite... it does do everything except allow volume adjustments in the final MP4 file.
No matter how much people are touting Videora iPod Converter, I just cannot get it to work successfully for what I need. Even if I found a solution to the problem, Videora CANNOT reformat stretched 16:9 anamorphic videos to letterboxed format, like Nero can. Sure, it can CROP... but it cannot RESIZE. I do not want to watch stretched, distorted video on my iPod. -
Recorded mixes and stems for 3 film cues within Logic and then popped the tracks at the head and tail to match up with the timecode burn of picture. I get really really picky about where my pops are placed and both head and tail pop are tight with picture to within 1 bit. GREAT!
These 44.1 files were then xferred to another system running Digital Performer for sample rate conversion to 48K (file transfer to DP via OMF). DP doesn't let you see timecode bits (or maybe the guy who was running the system didn't know how to display them), so I thought it best to verify the sync of the new 48K files back on my system (files xferred back to Logic via OMF).
I aligned the head pops of these file to be exactly on the money with the picture's timecode burn (+/- 1 bit tolerance) and then looked at how the tail pops lined up. Sure enough I found a small problem: the tail pops were positioned 12 bits early! I know that's not much -- just a little more than 1/10th of a frame or so, but still I'd like to understand why there's this discrepancy.
Any thoughts?X-man,
Maybe you're right, that the math is slightly different, and if so I'd like to understand why.
Amoli,
To clarify, the reason we processed the 44.1 files in DP was to get that all underway while I continued to work in Logic on other things. When I re-imported the newly converted 48K files into my Logic session, of course I changed the sample rate of the session and lined my 2-pop (head pop) up with picture. It was at this time that I noticed that the tail pop was off by a fraction.
There was no pitch change whatsoever. I would have heard that in a millisecond. The only artifact is this slight discrepancy between the positions of the tail pops between my 44.1 session and my 48 session against the same exact picture. -
Mv log contains far more records than would expect - anybody any idea why?
Hi there,
We have created some mv logs with fast refresh in mind
example
CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON "DIMENSION_TABLE"
PCTFREE 60 PCTUSED 30 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255 LOGGING
STORAGE(INITIAL 65536 NEXT 1048576 MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 2147483645
PCTINCREASE 0 FREELISTS 1 FREELIST GROUPS 1 BUFFER_POOL DEFAULT)
TABLESPACE "TABLESPACE_NAME"
WITH ROWID, SEQUENCE ( "DIMENSION_KEY" ) INCLUDING NEW VALUES
However getting far more mv log records than expect.
e.g. at start no records in mv log, run a mapping , later check via minus operator what records insertde/updated in the dimension, say 50 recods in total, I would expect 50 records in the mv log.
However getting far far more,e.g several records for a dimension_key.
Why is this?
Is our mv log definition wrong. dimesnion_key is the primary_key?
Any advice, much appreciated.

Converting session/song to 48k from 96k
I am working at home on some tracks that were recorded at 96k in Protools. We consolidated the PT tracks and just imported them into Logic as Waves. for the most part they are working but I did have some issues with songs being damaged and getting all kinds of random error messages that prevented me from even loading that song. It's happened twice so far. This is the first time I've had any problems like this AND it is the first time that i am working at 96k with such large files. What is the simple way to convert the songs and the tracks/files to 48K. Is there a simple way? It's seems like the size of the files may be the culprit. Any other ideas appreciated.
the types of error messages that I have gotten on several of these songs are:
Warning:Project May be damaged
Minor Problem In Data
Score Style Fixed 12
Error: CSong::CreateSeq-Illegal Block Size
then the song will finally open up and no regions or tracks are in the arrange window at all.
thanks for your time,
Jdfthanks alot. I just followed your instructions on one song. Everything seemed to convert over to 48k just fine. I stayed in the same session/song. I may try starting a new empty template next. It did change all of the files to just the name of the song instead of their individual track names but that is probably because of how I "saved" them.
I'm sure I can get the tracks to a new empty template but what is the easiest or correct way to import a number of tracks into a empty project like you described? As you can see I am more of a songwriter/musician than a Mac operator! thanks again,

Home folder using more HD space then what's in it.
I am having a space issue my home folder shows it's using 550 GB when the folders inside of it add up to only about 100 GB. Anyone know why it thinks there is more in it?
things I have done:
Disk verify - says it's ok
repaired permmissions
searched for hidden files - nothing of significance showed up
My total HD space is 750
the programs I use most often are:

Google for the command to "show all files" in Finder, or open up Terminal and enter:
du -chd 1
This will generate a size report for ALL files and top-level folders, you can increase the number "1" to go deeper into your subfolders if needed. Here is part of what I get on my machine:

Anything starting with a dot (.), called dot-files or dot-folders is ignored by Finder. That is because these are behind-the-scenes files. Chances are one of your apps is maintaining a HUGE temporary file or cache.
Oh yeah, your "Library" folder is also hidden by default, but pressing ALT while the GO menu is open in Finder will reveal a link to it. Likewise, any of your apps could be keeping a HUGE library file inside of the library folder.
To list hidden files in terminal use:
ls -laGh
To get more information on either command use:
man man
man du
man ls
Arrow up/down to navigate, press "q" to exit.
Fixed a typo in the "du" command example that would cause an error. -
How to make call recoder supported nokia Lumia
My lumia phone has windows 8. In my phone call recoder is not running.
has more to do with recording call anonymously in the USA as totally illegal, so MS probably blocked it because of this.
all the call recorders only record what you are saying during a call, unless you put it on speakerphone...for obvious reasons. -
Sample rate of one or more of your captured media files Help
The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video of these media files to be out of cync. Make sure the audio sample rate of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape
Most likely because the material was shot with a 32k sample rate and your capture preset is 48k.

I'm editing promos in a 48k environment. I've taken in a promo from an ftp site.
The audio on the imported promo has 32k resolution. How do I convert the audio
to 48k?If you do this in VirtualDub, choose Video / Direct stream copy to avoid recompression of the video, which is lossy and slower.
Choose Audio / Full processing mode and then go to Audio / Conversion…
Set samplng rate to 48000Hz and be sure to tick High Quality
Verify that Precision is 16-bit and Channels is stereo
Go to File / Save as AVI and save to a new filename
If you want to batch a bunch of clips (and be able to do so again in the future more conveniently), be sure you have set things up as above… then go to File / Save processing settings…and save the current settings as 32kHz_48kHz.vcf (for example)
To run a batch, be sure all of your source clips are in a common folder and that folder contains ONLY the .avi files you want to convert.
Go to File / Job control…
In the VirtualDub Job Control window, click Edit / Process directory and select the folder in which your clips are stored. Then choose a different folder where the new clips are to be output.
Click the Start button to process the batch entries.
If you want to perform another batch at a later date, launch VirtualDub and choose File / Load processing settings… to open your 32kHz_48kHz.vcf settings file and repeat the steps above. -
Convert and save video, audio, and images to more than a hundred standard f
I bought Quicktime pro because it said it could "Convert and save video, audio, and images to more than a hundred standard formats". I have .mov that i took and want to change to an .avi
I feel stupid but how do i do it? shouldn't there be a "convert" or "save as" button?AVI isn't dead, it remains the ONLY format in which any real editing can be performed (ie filters and colors and zooms etc). That said, converting FROM any compressed format like .mov back to an uncompressed format will not restore the information lost in the original compression conversion. Like the man said, you probably won't like the result. If you want to make an AVI to edit artistically, you'll need to go back to the source and re-record it to make an original uncompressed avi (example I use 'DVD to AVI converter' software to recode my homemade DVDs to a huge uncompressed AVI, then play with cutting and cropping and zooming and special effects and color filters, etc in a program such as VirtualDub, an THEN open in QT Pro to convert to MOVs to share).

Audigy Platinum only records at 48k 16 bit in Sound For
Can someone please tell me what i'm doing that's so stupid? I'm trying to use Sound Forge to record my DJ sets through my Audigy Platinum, but for some reason Sound Forge will only let me record at 48k 6 bit sample rate, and the monitoring is almost impossible - most of the time I get terrible feedback destroying my ears! If I then save something I've recorded as a 44.k wav file or a mp3 file, the sound blaster wont play it at all.
I've moved the Audigy from an older PC that died on me, and I didn't have the original disc (from 4 years ago) so I downloaded the drivers from the web, but it doesn't seem to be working too well.
Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?
Cheers.

Ok, I have some more info in this. I can get Soundforge to work when it uses the Windows Sound Mapper, but not the Creative Asio driver. DOes this help? Does it matter which one Sound Forge uses?
Please help!
Your card supports ASIO only @ 6-bit/48 kHz (hard locked).
Are there other driver modes listed (MME Audigy, DS Audigy, DirectX)?
If 6/48 with ASIO is not enough, then use DS Audigy if possible.

It seems like this mystery has been the "thorn in the lion's paw", so to speak, for a long time. Well, I don't have the solution,

Like everyone else that has enquired about this "mystery" for close to a year, the user name (I have noticed that most start with
02) is not one that I selected or was given for any "virtual app" or website.
Does this additional data help anyone get any closer to the solution? I am very uncomfortable with this entry and the only reason
why I haven't tried to delete it is that there are many others out there with the exact same entry. This leads me to believe that it serves a legitimate purpose, but what that purpose happens to be, is the $1,000,000 question!
I really appreciate all the help that any of you "computer gurus" can possibly give me, even if your response is just speculation.
Together, all of the speculation, may just add up to the answer.
Thanks All!
