  • Drivers from MSI or REALTEK?

    Hi
Should I use Realtek ALC Series AC'97 Audio Drivers from MSI or download direct from REALTEK?
    Anyvone tried drivers from Realtek.......

it actually depends... depends on how good MSI design their audio portion according to Realtek reference. There are reasons why NOT to use reference driver but only to use MSI driver. If MSI wanted to have do something out of Realtek reference design, the driver has to be modified to support this additional "feature" too. I say a "feature" it could mean a driver compensation to cover up hardware design issues due to some cut-cost or not following reference design guidelines provided by Realtek. For example, microphone input too soft particularly on a board, not due to bad codec chip but bad board design. The driver has to be modified to increase the input bias, in which the Realtek reference driver does not have this modified by default.
Try both of them out, and if you managed to find any difference, just stick with the better one. If you can't hear the difference, then stick to the latest one.

  • Z77A-G43 drivers from MSI website not working

Hi, I've just built a new computer on a Z77A-G43, running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
    Specs:
    i5-3570K
    8GBs of Corsair RAM
    MSI 7850
    120GB Intel 330 SSD - system
    1TB WD Green - secondary
Instead of installing drivers from the supplied CD (except for ethernet drivers), I went to the MSI product page for my mobo for newer drivers. All goes well, except that I can't install the last driver I want - the Intel VGA driver for the GMA HD 4000 that's in my CPU. I read the readme, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. When I launch Setup.exe all I get is this error: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." Running as admin doesn't change anything.
I'm thinking it must be the wrong driver. I looked through Intel's site, but would like to get a tested option here from MSI. I read some other forums of people having similar problems, some can't even boot after installing. I don't want to get into that situation. Could MSI please update the drivers page with the correct drivers? This driver isn't on the mobo CD anyway, so it's the only way to get it from you guys.
Btw, I also noticed the same problem with the Intel Rapid Start driver and I haven't tested the Intel Smart Connect driver. I'm not going to use either one of these, but it's worth noting.
    Edit:
Found the VGA driver on the CD, but same result. Through the autorun MSI interface the VGA driver button in the Drivers menu is unclickable.

I finally got around to installing the VGA drivers for the GMA HD 4000. You don't even need to unplug your discrete card (PEG), in BIOS just switch to initiate IGP and make sure you have an HDMI/DVI/DSUB plugged in to the monitor and scanning for input. If you go to the Windows device manager, you'll see the system is detecting a new graphics adapter. You can proceed with the installation of the drivers as they will now detect the IGP. Then one restart and you're done. Btw, after restarting, if you have your discrete card connected and monitor also plugged in, the video input may fall back to it, so don't panic if you hear the Windows start up sound and see a black screen.
Unfortunately the G43 does not come with any support for Lucid Logix Virtu software, so that was my mistake, when I said I see it all in the BIOS earlier. In the BIOS, all you can do is switch between which graphics adapter you want to initiate and some memory size settings when multi-monitor is enabled in IGP mode. There aren't any d-Mode or i-Mode settings.
Btw, how can I mark this as solved?

    Hello dear people of MSI,

these are posts made by me and other users I have come into contact with. All my problems are also their problems, and some of them are very serious(AGP/PCI lock failing when FSB reaches 220 fsb etc, and as result a fried videocard and lost data). As stated on that MSI forum above customers are have having the greatest problems accomplishing a mere 10% overclock on very good cooling. This is just a sign that there are problems that really need to be worked out, especially when your other socket 754 boards are so good?
So plz look over the links listed and read them, plz do not send me a standard mailingreply back but for once just try and help your customers who have bought your product in good faith. The way it is happening now is that there are alot(yes we are talking 1000's)of users who are growing angry with the lack of support they are getting.
All this word of mouth can only be bad for your company, not adressing the real issues at hand only makes people more reluctant to ever buy MSI again. I and many other users would like to know when you hope to fix these problems with the K8N Neo platinum. You made such a good board in the Neo FISR-2 and it performs flawlessly up to 300fsb so why not the K8N cuz this one failes for some users even at anything over 218?
keep me posted on any updates and fixes that are coming soon, I have bios revision 1.1 as you see but so far none of the bioses around fix these major issues(referring here to the beta bioses, 1.13 and 1.2 beta 5 and 12).
Hoping to hear a positive reaction from you,

    To our Valued Customer,?
Thank you for purchasing & supporting MSI product.?
This E-mail is an automatic reply which is to notify you that you have reached?HYPERLINK "mailto:[email protected]"[email protected]?
In order to give you an overall technical support, we have listed some common problems and solutions for your reference.
Please take time to read the useful FAQ which we have compiled from the technical support e-mails we have received as link and see if it helps the problem you are facing.??

Normally, our response time will be within 48 hours (not counting weekends). If you did not receive any reply after this auto reply, please re-submit your issue again due to some transmission failure.?
Once again, MSI appreciates your business and support.?
    I. Read the Manual
Most users have tendency not to read the manual under the presumption that they already know what is written in there. However, we have seen that there are percentage of technical support calls & e-mails as a result of not reading the manual??
II. Keep your MSI CD drivers
MSI CD drivers provide easy driver installation via auto-run. Losing it would require you to install driver manually?
    III. Contact your Reseller
Your reseller or the store/company that sold the motherboard or system to you should know well what your system contains & have the necessary resources to help you in your problem. Since they can see your system clearly, it is easier for them to identify if your problem was caused of wrong installation or wrong assembly or defective product, etc. It would be advisable to contact your reseller for those having problems like system cannot power on or need to send board for repair
NOTE: there is a tiny percentage that the board might be defective & by contacting your reseller at an earlier time prevent your warranty being voided. Some resellers provide certain period of time for return/exchange, after that you have to either send the board to them for repair or you are on your own.??
    IV. Check our website
Some of the information you are looking for might be already posted in our website?
    V. Search in MSI Forum
Your problem might have encountered by another user in the forum or you might find answer in the Good Article forum with a lot of useful posts written by moderators & power users. You can also post a message there to get help?

So my question is, what is this W7030NMS.12C bios? When he says new bios, doesn't he actually mean beta??? Can someone clear this up for me. In the zipfile i got from them are two files,
W7030NMS.12C  --->> Which bios is this and how old is it? Does it fix temps, fix pci lock failure
AWFL833D.EXE  --->> Obviously the flash utility
If what they sent me is one of the bioses I spoke about in above quote(see : so far none of the bioses around fix these major issues(referring here to the beta bioses, 1.13 and 1.2 beta 5 and 12))then they don't do a good job of reading my actual mail;)
    regards,
    Capcom

Why are they so secretive about what they did in a new bios version, how can someone then know a thing??? I too would like to know what issues they have been adressing, but pretty soon I will start thinking the reason they don't say is cuz maybe they can't fix it:(:(

  • Windows 7 installer drivers vs MSI drivers - Extreme slow install

Problem:  When I run the Windows 7 Pro installation CD, every screen take a very long time (from 10 minutes to 2 hours) to proceed to the next prompt.
Tried:  First tired installing with  legacy + UEFI and now reinstalling OS with UEFI  which both produce same results.  In fact, the worst part was reformatting the SSD to support a GPT partition.  This is taking hours.
Considering trying:  Gskill thread and vBios upgrade thread
Solution:  After OS is running, I first apply drivers for on board network card, then install MSI Live Update 6 and update all MSI drivers.
Results:  OS boots normal and normal response times on boots.
Question:  There is a "Load Driver" option during the advance option when installing Windows 7 when you select the partition to install Windows.  Before I try process of elimination, any suggestion on which driver could be the culprit?
After I finish this next install, I should have list of the drivers that MSI Live Update says it updates.  I hoping this is a known issue, and I am just failing to find it on the forum.

    HDD: Western Digital 1TB 7200 WD10EFRX SATA 6.0Gb/s
OS: Win 7 Pro 64bit in UEFI mode
    OC: Not yet

    Root Cause established!
    Well mostly...
    First, I did as suggested.
    1.  I bought a USB 3.0 drive and made a bootable image of the Windows 7 install using UEFI.  While there, I read up on Windows Automated Installation Kit and building a custom WIM to install drivers.  We do this type of thing at my company all the time, but it has always been the responsibility of others.
    2.  After taking all night for the OS to install, I methodically install each driver manually and waiting the dreaded long reboot to see which fixed the issue.  Installing the SATA driver made the Starting Windows work faster, but I noticed I was having all kinds of issues with the Western Digital HDD formatting and I still was not impressed with the boot time.  Following the next suggested solution to start with only the SSD.  THEN!!!! The POST, Bios screen, Starting Windows and login were incredibly fast!!!  I was logged in less than 10 seconds.  Now this has been my expectation all along.
    3.  I tested moving the HDD to other SATA ports, but the problem returned.  I will try another cable, but these were the ones provided by MSI that came with the motherboard.  I will need to purchase one as I used all 4 that came with it.
At this point, the HDD is out of the computer.  I plan to search the WD forums to see if anyone else has had this experience.
Thanks you for those that committed on my post.  As a result, I have my system now booting with UEFI instead of legacy mode.  That in and of itself was worth the effort.
Once I find out more about the HDD issue, I will update the forum.  Hope this helps someone else.
    Thanks,
    AphelionElite

  • I can't install my drivers from my external hardrive as windows wont recognise it.. how do i get back to my OS X Lion operating system?

I installed windows 7 on my MacBook Pro 13 inch fine and then when it came to install the bootcamp drivers from my external hardrive windows 7 doesnt recognise it in any way. So im stuck on windows 7 any ideas?

Some people don't even know there is a Set Default OS startup disk control panel as part of System Preferences.
With Lion and no DVD any more there is however a new Lion Recovery Mode and boot partition you want to get familiar with

  • Word from MSI on the Audio Problem

Here is a letter that MSI sent me last night.
    Quote
    Richard & Glenn,
I have taken some time to read through the audio posts in the nforce forum. There's a lot of posts but it's difficult to find the problem cause based on those posts.  I understand the frustration of having the problem which results to a lot of MSI bashing posts. So, we need to find some direction in order to find the solution. I know you are doing that right now, keep up the good work.
    Just my observations & suggestions:
    1. Not all are having the BKSOD problem
    2. As you know, the board has been out at least a year meaning most of them should have a working system for at least some months before experiencing the problem. So please help find out what have they changed in their config that might caused the problem? I can only guess the problem started after people updated their drivers from nvidia website.
    3. Is there anyone who can have a pattern for duplicating the problem easily? As you know, it would be very difficult for us to solve a problem which cannot be seen in the first place.
    4. There are 2 kinds of sound setup, one is with on-board sound (2 channel)while the other is with the CNR sound (6 channel).
    5.  I have seen 1 or 2 posts which claimed to have solved their problem after going back to some old driver version. Maybe you can convince them to go back to MSI original drivers or older drivers of Nvidia.
    MSI
As you can see, MSI does have an interest in solving the problem.  Has anyone tried going back to the original Drivers from the MSI CD?
Also it would be helpful to try and nail down when the problem started occuring.  When was it? 1 month, 2 months, 5 months ago?
    Richard

Since I don't play games a lot I don't experience this problem often, but I experienced it for the first time while playing Warcraft III. I could play for anywhere from 1-3 hours but eventually the system would lock up with a black screen. Before that I had only played a few other games (mostly Counter-Strike) that did not have this problem.
Switching back to the 1.05 drivers solved my problems with Warcraft III.
Later I wanted to have the audio control panel from the 1.13 drivers back and since I didn't play Warcraft III anymore at that point I just installed them. I noticed that when playing DVD's on my computer the system would freeze after approx. 30 mins - 1 hour. I tried this several times before switching back to the 1.05 drivers. That solved the problem again.
I think it is fair to conclude that for me the problems started after upgrading from the 1.05 drivers. It is very difficult to describe how to reproduce this problem exactly, but on my system the easiest way is to play a DVD movie using the 1.13 drivers for about one hour.
I am using the Dolby Digital output since I have a DD receiver.

Why don't you want to use the driver that is provided by MSI? Any reason for doing so?
Hi NovJoe, thank you for the response.
The drivers on the disk are 10.1's, if I am able to get the 10.12's to install I am under the presumption that there will be better performance provided? I have slight OCD and prefer to be 'upto date' wherever possible, especially for GPU drivers.
Aside from this, i shouldn't be forced to use to MSI CD drivers when there are others available, could it need a BIOS upgrade, or the card possibly faulty?
    Cheers,

  • If I remove itunes and its drivers from my computer, as recommended by someone at the Apple store for a problem I'm having, I know my music will come back, but will my playlists still be there as they are now?

If I remove itunes and its drivers from my computer, as recommended by someone at the Apple store for a problem I'm having, I know my music will come back, but will my playlists still be there as they are now? I forgot to ask.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Drivers for MSI Radeon R7 260 1GB

I just bought this the MSI Radeon R7 260 1GB graphics card.
    1. I tried to install drivers from the MSI CD, but nothing happened. So I checked the contents of the CD, only drivers for Win 7 and 8 are supplied! (what happened to VISTA and XP users??)
    2. I tried to get drivers / catalyst controller from the MSI web site, but there are no drivers. (The only thing on offer is a firmware update utility)
    3. I then tried to get drivers from AMD web site, they had drivers for XP 32bit. Whilst this installed the Catalyst Controller, on reboot, it only show a black screen. I had to do a shutdown (via power button). I had to reboot in 'last known known good setting', but then there was a message about no AMD drivers installed. I can't open up Catalyst Controller.  I am only getting basic generic drivers and the window display is terrible.
    4. I then went back to MSI web site,  I tried to install Radeon R7 260X drivers / apps. But that did not work either.
(My previous card was a XFX Radeon R7 240).
Can MSI tell me how to fix this? Or is there no support for Windows XP? Should I return the graphics card?

hello there, have you returned the card yet? if you still need help, would you please provide which model of R7 260 you are using?

<font face="Garamond">Do you have an onboard audio processor? If so disable it in the BIOS and try to install the drivers from the CD first. Then head to Creative's web site and use the Auto Update option to dowload new drivers. If this does not work try installing the drivers from?a different driver if you have more than one. Some dri'ves that are defecti've or dying only install some disc contents before failing.<font face="Garamond">?<font face="Garamond">Hope this works for you!

  • Extract drivers from boot image

I have a boot image and my team members added lot of drivers on top of boot images.... Now I want to get a report to get the list of drivers that are integrated
and their source path as I must  have to keep them in a separate folder so that in my up coming migration project I can use them again to integrate in new boot images when migrated from sccm 2012 RTM to SP1 and R2
Kindly through some light on this

You should not use the drivers from your old boot images in your new boot images.
Windows PE drivers are not the same for every verison of ConfigMgr.
    Win PE 5.0 = SCCM 2012 R2
    Win PE 4.0 = SCCM 2012 SP1
    Win PE 3.0 = SCCM 2012 RTM
And the drivers you need are:
    Win PE 5.0 = Windows 8.1
    Win PE 4.0 = Windows 8
    Win PE 3.0 = Windows 7
Windows PE 5.0 also includes many new drivers so drivers that you needed in older versions of PE might not be required any more...
