No more outlook reminders with iCloud?

I activated iCloud. It made the mess many of us experienced: "local data" wiped out, doubling entries, etc.
But there is a specific issue I can't understand: I define a new appointment/activity and set its reminder; whern I save it, Outlook says something like "Unable to set reminder, because the folder doesn't support reminders" (ore something like. I've the italian release).
So... no more reminders?

In my oppinin apple made a mess with reminders/alerts names and behavior. Things could be easier.
Anyway, apple regards the outlook message as a falase positive and states that oulook will still give us the alerts. I just installed iClound on outlook, so I don't know if that is true. Anyway, even if alerts are kept, two things are very annoying: 1) alerts are set to none by default when creating a caledar event in the icloud calendar from outlook (I used to use the 15min default on other calendars). This means that everytime I want a reminder for a calendar event, I have to remember to go and set it. 2) Having this idiotic message pop up everytime I create an event with a reminder will be a pain.
I'm going to try to stick to iCloud for now, but if this things start to annoy me too much, I'll just go back to using google calendar sync on all my PC's with outlook and google ical dav on all my apple devices and macs.
Hope Apple fixes this and improves icloud soon.

  • How to share reminders with iCloud users ?

    Hello,
With Lion it was possible to share a "Reminder" through iCal to members of iCloud...
I unfortunately did not find this essential feature in the new Mountain Lion Reminder Application.
I cannot immagine Mountain lion would be a downgrade on that very useful workgroup feature...
The only, temporary, work around is to use the web version of iCloud calendar which still permits sharing of Reminders with iCloud members.
    Am I missing something ?
    Best regards,
    Carlo

Does the "Facebook integration" enable sharing of reminders with icloud users, even for people not using facebook ?

  • I can't sync Outlook 2010 with iCloud.

I can't sync Outlook 2010 with iCloud. The iCloud Control Panel says to install Outlook even though I already have it. I am not given the option to to check the Mail, Contacts or Calendars boxes. How can I check the boxes so I can sync properly?...right now all my Calendar has duplicate items.

I believe you have right - the Add-in is the problem. Right now, my Outlook 2010 do NOT have the iCloud add-in. You mention something about downloading it - where can I find it ??  I have tested to uninstall and install again, nothing changes my syncing with Outlook 2010 after the initial setup has been done with iCloud.....

Tap the little claendar icon at the top left (next to the search icon) and see what calendars are set up in WeekCal.  If none are enabled, then enable the one(s) you want to use.

I linked my outlook express with icloud, not realizing it would change my outlook express contacts.  I deleted email addresses from my iphone, not wanting them there which in turn deleted them from my PC.  Is there any way to get these addresses back? Seems I no longer have an outlook contacts list.

It's Outlook, not Outlook Express (different program) and if you have now deleted them from iCloud and do not have a backup they are gone.

  • Share my Outlook calendar with icloud?

I use Outlook with the company's exchange server and want to publish the exchange calendar with icloud so that I can then share the icloud calendar with someone else. The company blocks directly sharing the exchange calendar so I'm looking to publish it/sink it with icloud calendar.

    Hello ramirofromstrockholm,
The steps detailed below explain how to go about publicly share a calendar (which doesn't require that one be an iCloud user to accept).
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar you want to share, then select Public Calendar.
Note:   You can also share the same calendar privately. For instructions, see the previous task, “Share a calendar privately.”
To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.
Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.
The people you specify automatically receive an invitation email that includes the calendar’s URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.
In the sidebar, a shared calendar has a dark Share button.
You can also resend invitations to one or more invited participants at any time.

  • How can i synchronize my outlook 2011 with icloud

    Hi there,
I've just been googling a lot, but didn't find a answer to my question, just people who find the same problem actually. I was wondering if anyone could save this puzzle yet:
After some tests I learned, that mac—when you first activate your iCloud—uses two different contact and calendar sources: the local and the one exported to the cloud. So as for my office solution I need a three step synchronization. I work with Outlook 2011 and use this calendar, and also quite frequently my calendar on my iphone. So of course I would want them synchronized as much as possible.
What my mac does: synchronizes phone and mac calendar perfectly, not the Outlook calendar though. As I saw in the Outlook preferences, Outlook is only connected to the local calendar. Therefor all events disappear when I cleaned out my mac calendar of double events (local and iCloud appeared there).
How can I get my Outlook to take the iCloud calendar as main source?
I also faced that problem in my mac adressbook (which synchronizes with Oultook): there I do have double contacts too, since you can't deactivate the local contact account.
Not good :-( I'd be very happy if someone had some anwers.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Outlook is not compatible with iCloud, you should change your contacts and calendars to iCal and address book.

  • I want to sync my Outlook calendar with iCloud but NOT my contacts

I use Outlook at home (on a PC using Windows 7) and that's where the vast majority of my work is done.
I would like to use iCloud on the PC to synchronize my Outlook calendar with my other iOS devices (iPhone, iPad), but I do NOT want my contacts shared.
When I go to the iCloud control panel on my PC, there is a single box to select Calendar and Contacts - but I don't see a way to do calendar and not contacts.
Does anyone know how this can be done?

    Not possible.

  • Ical bug: updates to outlook events with iCloud sync do not work

I have a bug that needs to be submitted to Apple Developers. I am not sure that this is the correct forum, but here goes.
I have a calendar that syncs from my Mac to iCloud. If I get a calendar invite from someone using outlook, everything works fine. I accept the invite and it is added to ical (6) and syncs with the iCloud calendar.
Now if I get an update to the invite - especially a change of time, the local version on my mac updates to the changed event. Up to now everything is fine, but as soon as iCal syncs with iCloud, the iCloud server thinks that I am trying to change an event that someone else is the organiser of. It then disallows the update. This in turn pops an error up on my mac - 'The server responded: “403” to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation'.
I have looked for workarounds/fixes but believe that none exist and that this is a core bug with iCal/iCloud sync and the way it tries to prevent updates to meetings organised by another party.

    Hello vmepani
maybe I can suggest to you a way to circumvent the problem.
Why are you keeping a local Calendar copy under "my Mac"?
I do have my calendar shared through iCloud between my Mac Mountain Lion, the iPhone and the iPad (both alread IOS7) but don't need to keep any local copy of it in neither device. Anyway I'm able to see the calendar on each device even if I'm offline.
That's way I never had the problem you mentioned.
Not sure if this would work for you as well.
    cheers
    gg

  • Issues with syncing my Outlook 2013 with icloud 4.0

I am running Windows 8.1, Outlook 2013 and iCloud control panel 4.0. When trying to sync my calendar and contacts I get an error message "Apple Outlook DAV Config has stopped working". Windows looks for a correction, doesn't find anything and closes the program. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iCloud. Always get the same error.

    Hello Zbolt,
Security software on your system may be preventing this component from operating normally. The article linked below details the location of each component (including AppleOutlookDavConfig.exe) so that they may be added as an exception in your security software's configuration to allow them to run unimpeded.

  • More battery usage with iCloud?

Got the iPhone 4 new in October 2010. It could just be a coincidence, but I need to ask this question to eliminate any possibles.  Since joining iCloud my iPhone 4 seems to be losing battery life quicker than usual.  I also find that there are many more menus and coinciding pages associated with iCloud on the phone.  Been doing the iCloud thing for about 2-weeks and ever since my battery seems to be draining down quicker than before iCloud.
Has anyone been experienced anything similar?  Just trying to eliminate possibles.  Thanks for taking time to help.

To anyone out there looking with similar woes.  Through a process of elimination, the culprit and 'hands down winner' to the enormous battery drain ended up being iCloud.  I removed everything associated with or using the iCloud on my iPhone 4, and this evening here at 9:31 pm, I still show nearly 65% of the battery life; having disconected it from the charger this morning around 6:45 am.
Yesterday, I was forced to charge the phone before the end of the work day, it was showing red.  That gave me roughly 5 to 6 hours with a full charge.  Here it is 14 hours after coming off the charger and it has more than 50% life still to go.
Very surprised how much juice iCloud required on the iPhone.  I won't use it on the iPhone, and probably will shut it down entirely since it makes no sense to have it only on one device; wouldn't be getting any usefulness from the program.
    Hope this helps!

  • I am unable to sync my outlook 2011 with icloud to work with other devices

I have updated my computer to Lion, and have Outlook as my primary email/calendar. The calendar is my primary issue: I really want to sync it with icloud so it pops up on my phone. When looking at tutorials my screen doesn't look the same as theirs. HELP!

Many Thx. But I still have same problems. It is notifying me that "the procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll". I have found libxml2.dll file and copyandpast that into itunes. But, it is not solving my problems. Please help me. Actually where should I paste the missing file?

  • Merging outlook contacts with icloud contacts

    Hi
In outook I have contacts under icloud and different contacts under contacts, hope that makes sense, it is very annoying when emailing and swapping both to find the person I want.
How can I merge both contact lists?

If you have Outlook 2007 or higher, set up iCloud on your PC as explained here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html and enable syncing for contacts, calendars, etc. with Outlook
If you don't want to sync your PC with iCloud but only want to get your Outlook contacts in iCloud, create a Gmail account, then export your Outlook contacts to Gmail (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/export-your-contacts-from-outlook -and-use-them-in-google-gmail-HA104035604.aspx?CTT=1), then export the contacts from Gmail as a vCard (see https://support.google.com/mail/answer/24911?hl=en) and import it to iCloud (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605).
