NO more OVI Maps 3.00 for E63 - support removed!

Why Nokia removed support for map 3.00 on e63 with newest firmware?! I used Maps 3.0 without any trouble but now i can only use Maps 2.0! That's unfair!

One of the disadvantages of upgrading your firmware is the device returns to Nokia Maps 2.
Easily fixed:

1) Connect your phone in Mass Storage mode.
2) Save that file onto your phone.
3) Disconnect phone.
Locate file with phone's File Manager.
Install the application onto your phone with your phone.

Just to check that you also removed .qf file?
As a worst case scenario you may need to backup essential data, then reset device to "Out of box" state by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself) which will revert to version of OVI Maps pre-installed in device firmware and start upgrading again.

  • Downloading Ovi Maps 3.3 For N97

i've just got checked my SW update and it saids i can download the new ovi maps3.3 but comes up with failed when i try and download it =S ???
so ive gone on nokia and downloaded the the n97mini but it dont show me the paths thro the park and ally ways. it takes me the long way round only shows me the roads when im on walk mood
and dont show me the 3D land marks =S
anyway way to fix it ??

My N97 has the latest software. I cannot install Ovi Maps with free navigation v.3.03 via my phone software updater.
First, I got the a message saying "not enough memory - delete some data" - I have 29 GIGS in mass memory and 73 MB on phone memory.
THEN I reinstalled the old version of Ovi Maps and now begins the install (nearly to the end for about 30 minutes) and NOW I get the message “download failed.” Tried it now 5 times (restart phone, etc).
When I tried to download the new map app via Ovi Suite (I have the latest version), the new Ovi Maps version does not show up at all in as an "update."
When I attempt to download the new Ovi Map app s via the web, it points me back to my N97 to download via the phone software updater (so caught in a loop).
It is forcing me to download via my phone sw updater, yet fails every time.  What do I do?
PS: I always have problems like this with this stupid, expensive phone and wish that I had never purchased it and I am sick of having to come to this board to do anything with this useless POS phone!!! Thanks for listening,

  • Problems with OVI Maps 3.4 for 5800 XpressMusic

I downloaded Ovi Maps 3.4 on my 5800 and now every time I try to start using maps, the screen goes dim and the phone restarts itself. What I have to do to solve this problem?
I was using the version 3.3 and the navigation was working perfect.

    Hi c_dzeprailidis
When you upgrade to OVI Maps v3.04 it adds an additional positioning method "Wi-Fi/Network which can cause issues for some users, so try disabling it. Go to Menu > Applications > Location > Positioning > Positioning methods.

  • Ovi map not working in Nokia E63

I have tried to install OVI maps in my Nokia E63 phone, but it is showing as phone is not compatible for the same. Why maps is not compatible for E63 but is working for E55 or other old models. Can anyone tell me the solution so that  i can also use navigation service in my phone as i have to travel regularly?

    @meetkalsen10
    Welcome to the forum!

As E63 has no embedded GPS it would need Bluetooth GPS to act as navigator as network GPS is not accurate enough for this purpose.

  • N8 - Ovi Maps & Routing Speech through Bluetooth

Is there any way to route the voice directions from Ovi Maps to bluetooth headphones?
I tried the other day, with music playing from my N8 through my bluetooth headphones the voice directions were still only coming out of the handset itself!
Not much use if I'm using the satnav whilst riding a bicycle! That was one really useful thing I found about my HTC Desire - it would send the directions via the bluetooth headphones if connected, even if music was playing! It would pause the music, say the directions, then start playing again! Sadly then the battery would die before I reached my destination

I've got the same problem... very very annoying ! Ovi maps is useless for my bluetooth crash helmet. How can it be so long to be fixe by Nokia ?
I have posted this before but here goes again:- There is a work-around, which is not exactly elegant but at least good enough to use for this safety- relevant feature.
Record a file with 2 mins of quiet/no sound/empty room etc. Save this to your music directory on the phone. Before using the ovi maps open the music player and set this to play the quiet.mp3 continously/repeat. THEN when connecting your blue-tooth device and using the maps you will get the sound directions. This works because idiotically the blue-tooth sound directions are only active when "music" is being played. Which normally is unusable/distracting. If the "music" is in fact at most a light backgroud "hiss..." then this is not so bad.
p.s. One can expect a bit more battery useage this way. Good idea to have a charging facility on your vehicle. In my case with a 125cc Scooter I have built this under the seat. The BT works fine from there so I can use the maps while the N8 is charging.
    Stay safe!

  • Mistakes with Ovi Maps - how often are they update...

I've noticed a few subtle mistakes with Ovi Maps driving around - for instance a street near me is actually blocked off at one end but the navigator tries to get you to turn into it, and another where it directs you to turn right but no right turn is allowed at that intersection.
Anyone know if these kind of things are corrected?

They are updated about 3 times a year if memory serves me right. Anyway, you can report errors like these to Nokia so they can fix it.

  • Ovi Maps 3.0 exits when attempting to change inter...

I installed Ovi Maps 3.0 on my N95 (firmware V31.0.017).  I just used it for two weeks on a trip to the US, and it worked great!  Much better than Nokia Maps 2 in my opinion :-)
After one week however, I suddenly could no longer change the internet settings in Ovi Maps.  When I selected Options > Tools > Settings > Internet, Ovi Maps would hang for about 5 seconds and then quit.  Initially this worked well though.
The annoying thing is that, at the time when this first occured, the Internet access point in my Ovi Maps application was set to the WLAN network in my local hotel in the US.  I could continue to go online in my hotel, but no longer e.g. via the cellular network.  Now that I'm back home in Europe, I have no means to go online anymore.
I thought I'd simply uninstall Ovi Maps 3.0 and install it fresh.  Unfortunately, "simply uninstalling Ovi Maps" seems to be an issue, as is clear from several other postings in this forum.  To uninstall applications, one would think of using the Application Manager on the phone or in PC Suite.  However, the former doesn't list Ovi Maps on my N95, while the latter doesn't show *any* of the installed applications on my N95.  Both phenomena have been reported elsewhere, and seem to be dependent on the phone model.
    So here are my questions:
    1) Does anyone have an idea why Ovi Maps may quit when attempting to change the internet settings?
    2) Is there any other way to cleanly uninstall Ovi Maps 3.0?
    Thanks!
    Gert
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I managed to resolve the problem I reported above.
Since my Ovi Maps app always quit when attempting to go online, except when the connection was made through the WLAN access point of my illustrious US hotel, I tried the following:
In the main menu of my phone, I opened Tools > Settings > Connection > Access points.  This showed a long list of access points I have been using over the past year or so.  I located the access point of the illustrious hotel, and deleted it from the list.  Then, when I started Ovi Maps again, and went to Tools > Settings > Internet, it again allowed me to define my desired access point, without quitting.
In conclusion, leaving a WLAN access point setting in Ovi Maps that you won't be able to connect to anymore, can be unsafe.  I don't know if there was anything specific to the particular access point that I used.  (The hotel itself was good though ;-)  Nokia people who read this posting may want to look into this?

. Even I had the same thought at first, so I already checked it before I sharted the topic and I even checked now just to be sure.
Yes, I CAN browse the internet, both with the Default browser AND with Opera Mobile.
Also, after I browse the net, I can confirm the data usage in the logs for each session.
But, when I use Ovi Maps, the session for "Vodafone live!" does exist in the log but the usage is 0kB (U/D).

Any particular reason for not upgrading OVI Maps to v3.06_10wk46 on your N8 as OVI Suite has been delivering this version for quite a while?
Here at my side, that update just doesn't show up in Ovi Suite.
I only see "Real Golf 2011" in the Install Device Application section of Ovi Suite.
Just to make sure, is this what you mean?

  • E51 fw 411.34.001 vs Ovi Maps

    Hi all,
I have one problem with Ovi maps on my E51. They works just fine until I instaled latest firmware  411.34.001. After that phone couldn't run Ovi Map with error message that map application needs to be updated. So I downloaded latest Ovi Map application available for my phone (Nokia_Maps_2.0_4503_3.1_u) and install it, I downloaded all maps again, but it still does not work. Application now try to start but during initialization throuw up message that I need to update it. Great advice since this is latest available version on Nokia web site.
Can anyone from Nokia tell me why the only visible change in last fw is that maps are not working anymore? And of course what to do with it. It's little bit stupid after huge marketing halo about free Ovi maps to find out this function is not free for the older phones but it's not even available in case I want to pay.
    Greetings
    Jerry

it works for me with fw 410.34.001 although 411.34.001 not available for me anyway.

  • Why is Ovi Maps 3 not available for the E63

    Hi!
Why is Ovi Maps 3 not available for the E63 an 410.21... for the old OS 400....
    was OVI Maps available.
I got an license for ovi and now it is not running ;-(
Have any one an idea... thanks

Currently there is something very seriously broken in the latest firmwares, Maps 3.0x SIS files or Nokia Maps Updater. Until Nokia gets their problems sorted out, the only way to restore Maps 3.x after factory reset or firmware update is to use a version meant for previous generation devices, like this one (thanks to the user ovikovi).

  • What is the latest Ovi maps version for E72?

According to maps application I have:
    c3.04 10wk17 bo7 MW OpenGl LM MN
    Map Version 0.1.25.114
is that the newest for this phone?
    Solved!

i hope this is not off topic, but i have a similar problem with map versions, but slightly different circumstances.
    i have firmware 051.018, with ovi maps v3.04 10wk32 b03 and map version 0.1.24.114
i want to upgrade the firmware to the newer v071.004 with ovi map v3.04_10wk32_b04 (or so you say).
my question is this. does firmware v071.004 come with ovi map v3.04_10wk32_b0, and does it require maps version 0.1.25?
if so it'll really suck to upgrade the firmware for me and i probably won't do it because i downloaded offline maps for the whole world (like 8 gigs) from a mirror site and have been happily prancing about the globe on my e72 for sometime now. my e72 has almost become more of a gps map device than a phone. honestly i would rather buy another nokia with updated maps than give up my precious world map on the old firmware.
    should i upgrade or not?
so, coincidentally, i am also very interested in finding out the newest version of ovi maps to be included in the 070 firmware.
thank you and i hope this wasn't too much of a curveball.

    Hi mkokocinski
Unfortunately there was always restricted backwards compatibility with only a commitment to future devices. One example is the E71 which is the only S60 3rd FP1 device for which "free navigation" is available, albeit without as many features as current OVI Maps v3.04.
