No more pdf files

I moved up from PS CS to CS3 recently and I am dismayed at what has happened with PDF files in the interim. It's not a life-threatening problem, more of an annoyance: in order to save or open a pdf file now, I have to go through one or two more steps than previously, and it's enough of a PITA to swear me off pdf files. They used to be a safe alternative to jpegs, compressed, but with no generation loss. Now, however, I have to study up on the Adobe help files to figure out what I'm dealing with before saving as a pdf. Is there any way around it? Are there settings that will rid me of these meddlesome dialogue boxes? It's no longer just a Photoshop pdf file-it's one page in a potential sequence that I have to deal with, when there really is no sequence. It's just one sketch I'm trying to send to a client. Can someone point me toward a help file, or a knowledgebase article, or a setting that wasn't there in PS CS? Mind you, I am favorably impressed with some of the new features in CS3, e.g., the print dialogue that enables me to size and position the image by eye before printing. What am I missing about the file handling that makes it an improvement? I'm on a Mac G5 Powermac, 1.5 GB RAM, 2GHz, OS 10.4.11.

Why don't you just make some customized Presets for saving your PDFs for particular purposes and then you can just quickly Save As a PDF using the appropriate Preset.

  • How to add more PDF file in to a designed form

    Hi,
    I have already designed a form and now want to add 2 more pdf file in to the form, how can I do that.

    LiveCycle Designer and forms created using LiveCycle Designer can not do this. Just as PDF's created outside of LiveCycle Designer can not import forms created by LiveCycle Designer, but one can import the underlying PDF page without the form fields. The reason for this is that LiveCycle Designer creates an XML form with a minimal PDF page. The inclusion of the XML form data is enough to make the document not compliant to the PDF format. It should be noted that only versions of Acrobat 5.1 or above can process LiveCycle Designer forms, as these versions have had additional code added to the application to process the XML information.

  • I need help setting up a button to import one or more pdf files into existing pdf

    I am trying to help out a Vet Counsler who has to fill out many many many forms, a lot with the same information. So I would like to create a form that allows them to fill out given information and then fill out each pdf with that information upon request. I can create each form with the same name fields but can not find a way to select multible forms. Can any one help me with this project? I am using Acrobat 9 Pro.

    It definitely cannot be done in InDesign.
    You might ask in the Acrobat forums. It's possible it might be done with JavaScript in Acrobat Pro.

  • How to show two or more PDF in one PDF-Reader / Concatenate PDF-Files

    Hi,
    I want to show two or more PDF files in one PDF reader window or to concatenate two or mor PDF files to one file.
    We use WD4A and ADS.
    Have someone an idea to solve this without an external program?
    Thx in advance
    Jürgen

    We have done this successfully a few times using WDA - it wasn't easy - it took us 2 full weeks to figure it out, so i need to get full points for this one!
    It's going to much easier to do this if you start a brand new WDA. If not, you'll have to re-do all your Context Node navigations within your methods.
    The first thing you need to do is to define your Context properly:
    You need a top level Node defined as 1:1 cardinality (as with all PDF development)
    Next, you need another Container Node 1:n cardinality (this holds the collection of content nodes)
    Finally, you have your PDF Content Node 1:n cardinality - This holds each instance of your PDF form
    In our scenario, we are passed in a list of Project Numbers. We need to generate a PDF sheet for each project in the same PDF session.
    pseudo code - i'm leaving out some of the unnessary details
    Loop through the project number table.
    ADD 1 TO v_cnt.
    * navigate from <TOP> to <PDF_CONTAINER> via lead selection
        lo_nd_pdf_container = lo_nd_top->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_pdf_container ).
    * This is the Important Part - we check to see if there is an element where index = v_cnt
    * If not, we create one where we can store the new set of data
    * get element via lead selection
        lo_el_pdf_container = lo_nd_pdf_container->get_element( index = v_cnt ).
        IF lo_el_pdf_container IS INITIAL.
          lo_el_pdf_container  = lo_nd_pdf_container->create_element( ).
          lo_nd_pdf_container->bind_element( new_item = lo_el_pdf_container
                                               set_initial_elements = ' '   ).
        ENDIF.
        lo_nd_ideasheet_data =  lo_el_pdf_container->get_child_node( 'IDEASHEET_DATA' ).
        lo_el_ideasheet_data = lo_nd_ideasheet_data->get_element( index = 1 ).
    * fill all the data then bind the structure
    Select * from XXX into lt_XXX
      where project_number = lt_project-project_number.
    * Move Data to appropriate fields/tables
    * Bind the info back to the element
        lo_el_ideasheet_data->set_static_attributes( static_attributes =
                                                  ls_ideasheet_data ).
    Endloop.

    If Itry to open a second PDF file it show the follow message: "you can not use multiple instance of program at the same time".
    And more: my computer (with windows xp system) start to spelling the physical memory if I try to open a second PDF file through the command Open in the File Menu of Adobe Acrobat.
    I had try uninstall and install again the these programs, but the problem persist.
    What can I do?
    It could be necessary format my computer?
    Thank you,
    Diego Pinheiro

    It's a problem from Adobe!!!
    If you deinstall Adobe Reader 9.1 and install the older version 8.1.3, then you can work normally and you can open more than one document from an email or a directory.
    So: Good bye to Adobe 9.1 !!!
    And nobody else has this problem ???? Only me ????

  • Not able to open PDF files from Web

    Sometimes reader 9.3.1 in IE on Windows 7 stops working and it is not possible to display any more PDF files from web. Reinstall helps for a while.
    By looking into running programs I found the acrobroker.exe starts and immediatelly shuts down. After a while IE responds with a generic acrobat problem that asks me to shutdown acrobat reader and start it again.
    Any idea what might be wrong?
    Thanks

  • Merging PDF Files in Preview 5 in OS X v10.7 Lion

    I recently updated to the OSX v10.7 Lion operating system.  In the previous version I had, I was able to merge two or more PDF files in Preview just by dragging the thumbnail.  However, in the Lion version, it is not allowing to drag one PDF file into another.  It just opens them as different files in the same preview window.  I need to know if someone can help me figure out how to merge these files 'cause I can't send ten different PDF files to my client.  Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

    Use 'Automator (applications > automator.app).
    Choose 'Workflow'.
    Type 'get specified finder' in the little search box.
    From the list drag 'get specified finder files' into the the panel on the right. Click 'options' and check 'Show this action when the workflow runs'.
    Next type 'combine pdf' in the search box, and drag 'Combine pdf pages' into the panel on the right underneath the previous one.
    Save the workflow to your apps folder.
    Whenever you want to merge any pdfs, click on the workflow. Add the pdfs to the dialogue box, click 'Run' in the top left of Automator. To find the resulting merged pdf, click 'Results'.
    This is no doubt a clumsy way of doing it, but it works.

  • Photoshop 5.5 Not Opening Newer .pdf files?

    I am a volunter on our neighborhood's Board Association and I am in charge of putting together our quarterly newsletter.  I have used photoshop 5.5 in the past to open .pdf files sent to me to save them to a .jpeg for insertion into the newsletter that is created in Pagemaker 6.5. (I know, I know, pretty atiquated, but it works!)   However, I have received two more .pdf files that, for all I can figure out, were created with the newer Acrobat 9.3, and my Photoshop 5.5 will not open them.  It gives me a "Generic PDF Parser Error:  There was an error processing the document.  The file may be damaged or corrupted."  Is this indeed true of the .pdf files and the Acrobat 9.3 connection, and if so, what can I do besides the obvious -- upgrading?!

    Hi,
    This is the Photoshop.com forum, which is the online forum for the Photoshop.com web site.

  • Combine two or more pdf as one pdf from command line

    Hi,
    I have to combine two or more pdf file as one pdf file from command line.
    Is it possible.
    Thanks,
    Ansaf.

    Acrobat has a rich SDK, but not using the command line - declared obsolete by Adobe several decades ago (but taking a long time to die). To be fair, implementing thousands of APIs via command line would make for a rather complicated command line. Use OLE. BUT NOT ON A SERVER!!
