No more red number for messages

It's strange how I lost that little red number in the Apple Mail icon in the dock. It happened quite awhile ago, I went through my preferences and even reinstalled but it is no where to be seen. Has anyone else had this happen? I get a tone when a new email is received but the red number is missing.

Problem solved with a post from member babowa on another thread.
Go to System Preferences and click on Notifications. Click on Mail in the left hand column and make sure "Badge app icon" is checked.

Little red number on messaging app

My brand new iPhone 6 doesn't show the little red number on the messaging app icon when I have an unread message? I've gone through every single notifications setting several times and still nothing I'm not sure if this is important, but my previous phone, the iPhone 5, didn't do it either, and I transferred everything over to my new phone, including settings, I thought this may have something to do with it?

that red little no. shows unread messages you have, if you want to turn it off just go to settings>notification>messages and their you will see badge icon just turn it off, now your problem will be solved.

No Phone Number for messages on Mountain Lion

I updated to 10.8 mountain lion today. when i message people from my mac it comes up with my email address on the recipents iphone? is it possible to change this so it uses my mobile number instead?

Only when iOS 6 comes out and gives you the ability to officially use your phone number for iMessages (instead of just for iPhones, as it is now).
So when iOS 6 comes out, this issue will resolved.
So yes, they are working on it and a fix is coming out soon.

Sequence Number for messages

Hi,
I need to implement a sequence number in the target structure for each time a message mapping is executed.
As far as i can see on this forum and on sap.help.com it can be easily done with RFClookup inside the message mapping, and best implement something on abap-stack.
I need to decide on using either a z-table or a number range and i need to decide whether to use PI abap stack or ECC abap stack.
Any comments are useful.

I get interesting considerations on my question.
It will be sequentially, almost for sure, because i get this message via flatfile.
Your second consideration is also interesting. Maybe the source can provide, maybe not (i'm not sure)
Even more interesting if it is really necessary at the receiver side. This i actually asked the business, but still waiting for an answer. Meanwhile i just started looking around for the correct solution.

On second thought. It will be unique if i use number ranges with RFC lookup, because each number can only be used once.

Are you using your husband's Apple ID from his iPhone?
Do you have an iPhone associated with your Apple ID?
To associate Messages on an iPad with a phone number you need to have an iPhone that has the Phone number so it can be associated with the Apple ID being used on both devices (iPhone and iPad).

Apple doesn't give out phone numbers or wireless plans. Only the cell carriers do that. While A Cell Plan for an iPad has a number its just for Identification purposes by the carrier, and cannot be used for Messages.
Also it is not necessarry to have a cellular iPad with a cellular plan to have a number for messages. As I said, you need an iPhone to do this.

Identifying which number a message is sent to for contacts with multiple numbers

Hi there,
Like many, I have a lot of contacts that have 2 or more mobile numbers stored against their name.
I sent a message to a contact who has 3 numbers. A couple of days later I wanted to check to see to which number I sent the message but I couldn't see any way to display this from the message. The only information given is the contact name of the person I sent the message to, not the number.
Surely there must be a way to do this by tapping on some part of the message. I tapped the message and got options "Copy/More" and "More" gives me the option to bin or forward. Tapping on Contact, gives me the contact name and phone/FT/info icons and tapping on the "i" icon displays the full contact details with the 3 numbers!
The only way I got round this to find out which number it was, was to split the contact in to 3 different contacts as in Name 1, Name 2, and Name 3.This then allowed me to see the number because the message list updated depending on the number that was used. So really, the number is definitely there somewhere, but how to get it!
Any ideas anyone please?

Thanks for the question. This can be done by viewing the contact info in Messages. Simply tap “Contact” in the top right corner, then tap the icon. This will bring up the contact card, and the number the message was sent to will be highlighted in blue.
View someone’s contact info in Messages.
To quickly view someone's contact info in Messages, tap Contact.
- Tap to call that person or to use FaceTime
- Tap to see the person’s complete contact info
If they're not already a contact, you can tap Create New Contact to add them.
