No more WIFI on wireless radio

Lenovo R61i - 8932 - AEG - XP Pro SP 3. The wireless radio on ThinkVantage Access Connections (TVAC) has lost the WIFI icon and only shows the Bluetooth connection. However the adapter Intel PRO Wireless 3945ABG is visible (and active) in windows networks. I can connect the wifi through Windows, bypassing TVAC...
When I try to add a new TVAC profile the initial screen shows that the wifi adapter is present, however when I fill in an SSID the wireless mode field and also the wireless security type field are blank (in other words I can't even choose / fill in the security code / encryption type etc....)
I already deleted / updated TVAC and the Intel driver but this didn't help...  How can I refresh TVAC so that it recognises the wifi-nbetwork-card again?
New World. No Thinking. No more Lenovo.

Bump. New World. NO Thinking?
(Belgian) Lenove helpdesk was useless as always, advised me to completely re-install the computer to see what would happen. That was after I lost nearly half a day by deleting and re-installing TVAC, deleting and re-installing wifi-drivers, deleting and revceating profiles, etc.., etc...
The solution I found was to delete the Thinkvantage Access Connection software and to connect through Windows.
New World. No Thinking. No more Lenovo.

I would guess that the printer's wireless radio has died.  Have you tried plugging the printer into your wireless router with an Ethernet cable?  It should work and give you the same functions as wireless.  Your computer or router will not care how the printer is connected.

  • Fios Gateway 5 GHz Wireless radio unstable

The Fios Gateway 5 GHz Wireless radio is unstable.  This is my second Fios Gateway router and I'm having the same problem.  The 5 GHz signal is very weak.  There a spots where the signal is unavailable yet the 2.4 GHz.  I even installed aWi-Fi range extender (the one Verizon sells) but the signal did not improve I'm thinking that the Fios Gateway Wi-Fi radios are crap.  I think the best way to proceed is to buy a solid wireless router and shutoff the Fios Gateway wireless radios. Can anyone recommend a wireless router with a usable 5 GHz radio?  I think a commercial Wi-Fi router is the best way to go. Thank you.  I have tried to get Verizon to come out and check my Verizon equipment but that is impossible.   Notice that when you make an service appointment, Verizon calls every morning and if you don't push the right button, they CANCEL your service call.  This is something Congress needs to legislate - SERVICE.  I'm thinking of going back to Comcast.

I have a WiFi extender in line of sight of the Fios Gateway router and the 5GHz channel is still unstable.  At this point I have to assume I can't use the 5GHz channel so I will return the Fios Gateway router rather than pay the monthly fee for an inferior router.  This router is slow even for wired access.  For whatever reason the Fios Gateway routers are not compatible with my Verizon equipment.  My ActionTec is faster and more reliable.  I will also get the most powerful 2.4GHz wireless router and use that as a separate wireless access point instead of the wireless radios in the Verizon routers. I can't imagine busineses putting up with these problems when it comes to 5GHz channels. Thanks.Ed

  • Wireless Radio Connection - switches off

My Wireless Radio Connection switches off after about 2-3 minutes.  Is there a setting I can adjust to lengthen this amount of time?  When it shuts off, all I have to do is FN5 to reconnect but I shouldn't have to do that every 3 minutes.  I have a T60.  Thank you.

Assuming your're using a version of Windows, use the Device Manager and configure the Advanced Properties
DISABLE /UNCHECK "ALLOW WINDOWS TO TURN OFF DEVICE TO CONSERVE POWER"
Next, ensure all the PowerManager settings are set to a a Max Performance / Vid Presentation Profile but this doesn't necessarily ensure the WiFi NIC could be turned off if you or someone else has tuned the power profiles to disable NIC's after whatever period of time
It doesn't hurt to verify within the BIOS PCI PowerMgmt IS ENABLED and the Smart CPU settings are activated.
If the issue is still occurring then load an alnternate Operating system, Knoppix or SLAX Live BOOT CD's enable the loading and execution of a featured LINUX kernel with driver support for most Thinkpads since it seems te developers of the LIVE CD's use thinkpads themselves or MAC's, it is likely the latest Knoppix distro is compatible with your NIC and observe whether or not the issue still occurs / if so then you can most likely attribute it to an odd hardware issue and you should begin researching whether or not a BIOS upgrade or even Downgrade is a solution.
Before flashing, it is worth taking note of the fact the intermittent power issues seem to be related to your Windows build and you should install a parallel installation of any compatible Windows version then install the barebones necessary drivers to determine if the power issues still occur on a freshly minted version of Windows.
Also, determine whether or not your actual WiFi NIC is flashable, modern network adapaters have increased in complexity especially as a necessity of WOL and the Intel SLM features that more corporate purchasers demand thus NIC's have increased in complexity becoming more like mini VX systems with flashable firmware which may have merit as a solution if you isolate it to your hardware.

  • Wireless network report says that the wireless radio is not fuctioning

I have a C309a HP printer.  When I updated my laptop from Vista to windows 7 and try to connect to the wireless printer,  it will not connect wirelessly.  When I print the Wireless network Test Report the report says that the Wireless radio in the printer is not functioning.  Do I need to buy another printer????  I have gone into the wireless radio selection and made sure that it is set to on.

    Hello Jawhited,
It might be possible that the printer is not able to initialize the printers wifi adapter. There are a few steps that I would try before looking for a other printer. One of them is contacting your local HP support. Often with a reset, they might be able to to re-initialize the printer in a attempt that it would re-enable the printers wifi card.
What could also help, is making sure that Bluetooth is disabled, or first disabling every communication option and then re-enable the wifi radio only. Though as I said before, make sure to contact you local support for any further options they might have.
    Kind regards,

  • "Wireless Radio is not Functioning" when Diagnostic Tool is run

I recently unplugged my HP Photosmart Premium C309a and relocated it to a new shelf beside my main computer.  Wireless networking worked just fine before the move, and now it won't detect any networks to connect to.  I've run the Wireless Network Test Report and it says "Wireless Radio is not functioning.  Contact HP support."  Is there anything I can do from here to help fix this problem, or do I have to pay for Repair Service somewhere?  I would like to believe that this HP product can withstand more than a simple move from one shelf to another....
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
*Note* I know for sure my network is working properly (since I'm connected to it right now...).  My computer detects my network as well as a number of others in the neighborhood.

Is the printer still under warranty?  If not, yes you can have it repaired, but it may cost nearly what a new printer costs.  Here is how to contact HP.
Your printer should be able to work with USB and it should also be able to be connected to your router with an Ethernet cable.

  • HP photosmart C309a: Wireless radio is not functioning

I completed the wireless network test report and the diagnostics summary states that the wireless is not working and there were no wireless networks detected.
This printer had been originally connected directly to the internet port and had been able to print from all locations in the house wirelessly. Now that the internet connection is not plugged directly into the printer- it is not working.
What do I need to do?

I understand you are unable to connect wirelessly any longer to your Photosmart C309a model. I would first recommend restoring the network defaults and attempting to connect to your network again.
On the printer, select Setup Menu, Network, Restore Network defaults-Yes and restart the printer.
On the printer, select Setup Menu, Network, Advanced Setup, Wireless Radio, turn ON.
On the printer, select Setup Menu, Network, Advanced Setup, Wireless Setup Wizard (this will search for all the networks in your area, choose your network and enter your SSID (router password) to connect, then the printer will tell you it's connected.
The printer will display an IP address (ex: 192.168.1.2) so if you input the IP into a web browser, you should be able to reach the embedded webserver (printers webpage) which will show you it's connected to the network.
Now the printer will be connected to your network.
If you are still unable to connect to your network or run into any issues, please let me know the details and I will look into this some more for you. Please also include which OS you are running on your computer if further issues arise.

  • C309a The wireless radio is not functioning.

My c309a is out of warranty.  Network test report states wireless radio not functioning.  It is out of warranty but only 2 years old. Is there a part that can be purchased to correct px.  Saw other user who was still under warranty was told to contact HP to utilize the warranty rights.  So I guess this is something that cannot be fixed without replacing part.

Right.  Your printer's wireless radio has likely failed.  Installing a new one, even if you could get the part, would be more expensive than getting a new printer.  Sorry.

  • Another network issue... C4780 - The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support.

    Hi,
I've trawled the forum for an answer to this and searched Google until I'm ready to drop the printer from a height.
A long time ago my printer "lost" its ability to carry out any functions wirelessly, which is a shame because it was the wireless capability that sold it to me, over similar models at the time.  I coped with it, doing things the old fashioned way, more because I wanted to avoid spending an entire day messing around with it ...until today!  Well, I've started so I'll finish (hopefully) as having wireless printing back would improve my workflow.
The error I'm struggling with is this one, when I attempt to configure printer for wireless:
The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support.
I know others have had this issue, as my forum searches show and that for some people a solution was to reset the printer by holding in certain numbers on the keypad.  However, that thread does not explain how to reset the printer if it has no keypad, i.e. mine, the C4780.
Anyone know how to do this?  Better still, is there a fix out there for what seems to be a common and recurring issue for HP products right across the board?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Minabird4
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand that your wireless radio is not working on your HP Officejet 8500. This could be a hardware issue if the wireless card has failed completely, but I would like you to try the HP Support document: Performing a Partial Reset of the All-in-One. If resetting the printer as the document gets you to do does not fix the issue, it would be recommended that you contacted HP technical support for repair options.

  • Can I disable my Verizon Fios Router Wireless radio, connect it to a switch and use my airport express as my wireless access point connected to an in wall ethernet port?

Here's the deal.  I have a Verizon Fios MI424WR router.  My house has CAT5 throughout the house.  The media panel is located in the garage.  I want to take the Verizon Fios Router and cannot it in the media panel so I can connect a switch to it, that way, all my CAT5 can fire throughout the house. Verizon being Verizon decided to connect the router directly in the office.
Can I go this route (Router in media panel, switch cross connect to it) and use Airport Express, connected to one of the in-wall CAT5 ports in my house and then set it up as my wireless access point to provide wifi to my portable devices (iPad, iPhone, Macbook)?  Is this possible? Will Airport Express comminicate with my verizon router via ethernet in-wall? Do I have to turn off the wireless radio in the Verizon router?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That is right, by hard wired I was just making clear wired vs wireless attachment.  AirPort family of devices will only act in a repeater mode with their own family members, not FiOS routers.  they have to be wired to work.
There are some useful docs you can download from Apple, Support, Manuals, Peripherals, AirPort (just follow thos links from the Support button on the top bar):

The last has a diagram of what you are trying to do, though without the house wiring, etc., but the basic principle.

  • Toolbox software for Win7 makes your wireless radio fail

I have a problem with my X60 Lenovo and the new toolbox software for windows 7.
After installing this new toolbox for windows7 the wireless radio turnes off and cannot be turned on ever again.
Only restoring a backup made just before installing the toolbox solved the problem. All other possible solutions failed. One other solution: Also you can go back to a recovery point made bij windows to remove the toolbox. Because as already said: even uninstalling the toolbox program (remove program) doesn't help, too.
I like the 'old' productivity center much more than the toolbox. The toolbox starts up slow and adds not really new features. My advice: don't install the toolbox. Just a waste of MB of your harddisk.
    Marten

Since purchasing the unit I was unable to use it in my home network, as it wouldn't work across subnets. I have a secure wireless Zone which issues different IP Addresses from my internal network range. Following a number of unsuccessful emails to tech support, I gave up and threw it back in the box. I recently moved house and installed another wireless lan for the music blaster to work, however cannot find the initial install cd, and have been unsuccessful finding the download anywhere for it. Did anyone ever manage to find the software, or has it been archi'ved due to it's failings?Come on Creative, I have been using your products successfully for over 0 years, but?this is by far the worst!

  • Loss of wireless radio control via Fn+F5 - without Access Connections

    Hi everyone,
I run Windows XP on my X41. I do not have Access Connections installed, and I do not wish to install it. I have recently updated my wireless drivers, and have since lost the ability to control the power settings via Fn+F5. When I press Fn+F5, the following is displayed:
Change Power Settings of Wireless Radios
Unable to change power state of 802.11 Wireless Radio.
Update the driver for the wireless adapter.
I have removed and re-installed the hotkey, wifi and power management software, to no avail.
    Any help would be welcome.
Also, can anyone explain what the different utilities that come with the Intel PROSet achieve? Specifically, WMI support.
    Thanks in advance.
X41 1.5GB RAM (Looking for a cheap 1.8" SSD or CF solution)

Hi, in my experience you need the ProSet portion of the Wireless driver installed to activate the Fn+F5 functionality. Installing the ProSet provides the AEGIS protocol for the wireless card.
If you check in the Properties of the Wireless card (through Control Panel>>Network Connections and right click the wireless connection) you should see the AEGIS protocol in the item list of the 'General' tab. If the protocol is not present try running the ProSet install of the wireless driver, and check the protocol is present, and this should fix the problem of Fn+F5.
    Hope this helps.

  • Officejet pro 8500 "wireless radio card"???

We have a office jet pro 8500 and over the last year there have been times that the printer looses the wifi signal and we cant print....multiple times we have called HP and they are convinced that our "wireless radio card" is bad....but then after a day the printer will work.  How can i do a printer reset without paying $25.00 to the company... and does anyone have any other advice of what the proble,m or solution could be?   Thank you in advance

Hi,  thank you.   Yes, I have done that.  It says:  "The wireless radio is not functioning.  Contact HP support. "
    Diagnostics Summary:
    Wireless On - Pass
    Wireless Working - Fail.
Network Name (SSID) Found - Not Run
everything else below here are "Not Run" .
    Downlink count - 1
I am on the phone with HP Tech Support.  I used your suggestion to tell them that I believe that I have a failed radio module in my printer.  They are going to send me a "refurbished" basic printer.  They assured me that the refurbished is a brand new unit, never used with any customer.  It is an overstock printer which they open and take out any accesories and ship it to me.  Hope this will work.  Hope this is true.
PS:  HP asked me to pay for expedite shipping but I politely asked that they will waive the cost because it is a defective unit.  They did.  But I have to give my CC for "collateral" in case I do not return my defective unit.
Waiting now for that replacement printer.
    Thank you for your assistance.
