Do you mean that the + at the top right, just under the search field, disappeared? If so, did it disappear like that or after an upgrade / installation of an app / restore... ?

IPad 2 iOS 5 multiple pages missing from safari

I upgraded to the iOS 5 and now my safari web page doesn't have multiple pages unlike before that I can have 9 pages simultaneously and just switch from 1 to the next. Please help me fix this.

I thought that there was something that went wrong during my upgrading to the iOS 5, because I went ahead and used the iPad user guide and there with pictures it showed how the multiple pages should look like and mine just showed the tab/plus signs. With that said, I'm very disappointed with the new safari "upgrade". Again, Ty for the quick responses and informative answers.

Issue with multiple pages in safari

Why is it when you have multiple pages open in safari and you go back to one later it restarts from the begining? I was typing on a forum in one page and opened a new one to check a reference and when I went back to the first one it reset and erased all that I had typed. This is so stupid.

Safari on iPad2, iOS 4.3.5, "new page" button not working...

Got an iPad2 a couple of weeks ago, it was working fine. I updated to iOS 4.3.5 as requested, and since then the "new page" (square) button in Safari is not working. I can open a link in Mail, or even hold-click on a link in a web page and I get the "switching pages" animation (and see the other pages) but even though the number in the square increases (indicating the number of open pages) I can't "click" on it to switch pages...
The rest of the toolbar buttons (back, front, bookmarks, "share") work fine but this makes using Safari quite a PITA... so much so that I'd rather copy a link and manually open it in Opera.. A pity that Opera can't be set as the default browser!!
Any hints? I've tried deleting all Safari caches via settings (which resets the counter, obviously as it deletes the previous pages), switching off the iPad, Home+standby button for long time until it resets...

No confusion. I hate that you cannot edit a post with the iPad but that a different discussion ....
If you didn't see any databases in the Safari settings - then you don't have any. Those are created when you visit certain sites - for instance the Apple iPad User Guide that is available as a Safari bookmark. If you open that user guide, it puts a database in Safari and I assume its like a very specific cache kind of thing. Youcann delete them with no problem because the database will return when you visit the site again.
The only other suggestions that I can make would be to toggle settings on and off in Safari, like hide the toolbar, turn it back on, turn off auto fill, turn it back on. No idea if that would do any good at all - and it probably won't - but I'm out of rational ideas now! :)
I think you said that you tried this but this would be my last gasp effort unless some other user has any ideas - reset the iPad- hold the sleep and home buttons down together until the Apple logo appears- IGNORE the red slider - once the Apple logo appears you can let go of the buttons and let the iPad boot up. It can take a couple of minutes.

Safari IPAD2 ?

My IPAD2 Safari keeps bringing me to a IPAD2 introduction webpage when I connect it to Wi-Fi. How do I it shut off, the page has a cancel button on the screen but then I have to re login to use Safari. Any suggestions?

After you open
Safari and that page opens, you will see an icon in the top menu bar that looks like two overlapping squares. Click that, then click the X for any page it shows in the page view. Next time yuo open safari, you will not get that Apple splash page.
The last page you open in a browsing session - unless you follow this procesdure - will open the next time you open Safari.

Today every time i touch the screen nothing happens and i cannt pause the video nor adjusting its quality.
So plese help me fixing this problem as soon as posible.

Same problem on my ipad mini, running ios 6.0.2.
A bit more info:
-tried using YouTube in Safari on another ipad. Worked fine.
Tried reboot (sleep + home buttons for 15 seconds). Didn't fix.
-tried logging out of my YouTube account, thinking the problem was tied to my settings. Didn't fix.
-tried uninstalling all apps I downloaded since the last time YouTube worked properly. Didn't fix.
-tried watching a video in desktop mode. Can tap video screen to bring up pause okay in that mode.
There are work arounds, but the thing I want to know is why YouTube doesn't work in Safari as of a couple of days ago, and is it indicative of another more serious problem with my ipad.

Since I upgraded to version 8.02 on my iPad2 Safari and Google Chrome do not work beyond displaying a series of websites.
When I want to enter a website they do not respond .
Can anyone tell me what I can do about this?

Try some basic troubleshooting:
(A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
(C) Setup as new (data will be lost)
Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

Safari multiple pages

How come in safari I don't have the two little squares on the top bar to view and open multiple pages all I can do is open new tabs? I have the forward and back arrows the bookmark button and the add bookmark tweet ... Button how can I change it so I can get the multiple pages view?

Safari on iOS 5 uses tabbed browsing, not the thumbnail/page browsing as found in previous iOS versions. You can open new tabs via the '+' on the far right of the tabs bar; and you can close tabs via the '-' on the left end of each tab (though you can't close the last tab).
You can't go back to thumbail/paged browsing, though if you'd like the option you could try leaving feedback for Apple and see if it gets added in a future iOS version : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Major security risk, my bank pages have popped back up after my computer has been shut down, account numbers and all. I took my computer to an Apple store and the genious there tols me... Apple doesn't call its portable machines 'notebooks' instead of 'laptops' for nothing - using a MacBook Pro in your lap can cause some burns on your skin, poor ventilation, etc. So use it on a hard flat surface - not your lap, pillows, bedclothes, etc.
As for burning a hole in your screen, you'll have to revisit the Apple Store and see how much they would charge for a new screen. It's likely to be a bit expensive.
And if you've Safari set to re-open tabs when you restart, you can disable this feature -> Safari-Preferences-General.

It seems bizarre to suggest either of these fixes because they both require the use of the home button. However, I haven seen reports that both of these "fixes" have worked for other users in the past. They may not work for you, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If still no luck, take your iPad to an Apple Store and let a genius take a look at it. You have the iPad 2 and it still has to be under the one year warranty.

I used to be able to go back multiple pages at once, by selecting what page I wanted to go to by the back button. Now I apparently don't have that option and can only go back one page at a time? Am I mistaken, and is there a way to do this?

I miss the old back button, when I could go back multiple pages at a time.

How to save a pages document on the ipad2

How do I save a pages document on the ipad2 or how do I print a pages document. I have a n epson835 on a wireless network. I can scan or print a web page from the ipad, but I cannot print from pages. The instruction seems to require saving the pages document, but all I can do is share the document via several methods.

Tap on the Spanner icon, tap on Share and Print, Tap on Print.
You will also need to have an Air-Print enabled printer and both the printer and ipad must be connected to the same network. If your printer isn`t Air-Print enabled then there is a work-a-round but you will have to use google to obtain the files and instructions, do a search on google for Air-Print for PC or Air-Print for Mac.
To save a document in Pages for iPad just tap on Documents to take you back to your list of documents and the one you are currently working on will automatically save, you can then tap on the documents name to change it.

Why is there no option to go back multiple pages when browsing a website? it is annoying thet there is no option with the back/forward one page button.

When browsing a fashion or shopping website, you often look at an item, then browse the colour choices, you have to go back multiple pages, before you can look at the next item. Where has the back multiple pages arrow gone?

To go back (or forward) more than one page, click and hold the mouse button on the back (or forward) button for a few seconds and a list of recently visited sites will show. The down arrow that used to be next to the buttons to view the list was removed to add more space in the toolbar.
