No Music in Exporting a self playing slideshow to Quicktime.

I exported a self playing slideshow to QuickTime in order to burn DVD inToast.
I selected the Include Audio button but when I played back the file the music did not play. I noticed the export made two files - The video files and a seperate audio file. How do I combine the two files to burn a DVD to play on an HDTV screen?

How do you rehearse timings o produce a self-playing movie?? I am struggling to have a self playing movie that has all different timings within it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much. Antony

  • Making a movie with a self-playing slideshow

    Hello,
I've been working hard on this slideshow with background music, videos and photos that are all timed to work automatically. Now I'm just trying to make it into a movie to put online and nothing's working! They either want manual timing or a fixed time. I recorded it and tried to do the recorded timing, but then the music plays over itself, the timing's off and the audio is really bad. I want it to look just the way it is when I hit Play Slideshow.
Anyone know how I can do it?
    Thanks!

With the file open, click share, then export as quicktime movie. Did you try that? It should make your exact presentation into a movie.
You would need to set times for the slide transitions...but it sounds like you have done that.
Im new too, but I did do this and it worked. I believe it defaulted to a slide transition time, you may have to override that for your custom times.

  • Using Quicktime Movies in Selfe-Playing slideshows

I want to make a standard selfe-playing keynote slide show... standard 5sec slides, 2 sec transitions, etc. However some of the slides have quicktime movies on them, now if I simply add a movie, when I run the show, it will only show the first 5 seconds of the movie... not very useful.
so finally, the question, HOW do I get movies of arbitrary length (1 to 15 minutes) to play FULLY in a elfe-playing slideshow?
I may have totaly missed this, but last time I tried it (keynote 1) it was verry fustrating, so I have not kept up to date on Keynote untill trying again after installing the latest keynote (3.0.1?)
    thanks.

    Welcome to the discussions, Josh.
You have to make the delay for the slide equal to the length in time of the movie. Maybe just a little longer to account for a variability in Keynote's timekeeping.

  • How to pause and start a self playing slideshow

    Hello
is there a way to pause and then restart a self plaing slide show in keynote 10. when I hit the space bar it moves to the next slide instead of pausing as I need to create a slide show which basically plays in the background but which needs to be stopped occasinally and then manualy advance to the picture before and then start up again

You're right, thanks for correcting me.

  • Self playing QT exports now contain the audio track

    Yeah!
When you export a self playing presentation with a background track, that audio is now embeded inside the QT file and is NOT a separate file. This also carries over into iDVD now.
At least that's one major headache that's been fixed.

Audio doesn't export in the .mov when I try it; it's only included when I tell it to export to iDVD. If exported as a separate QT file (with include audio, include audio sdtk checked) the .mov file generated doesn't contain the background track. A separate soundtrack is generated but still isn't on the video .mov file. Same issue exporting a recorded slideshow; audio embeds with export to iDVD only.

  • Exported Slideshow to Quicktime Won't Play All Music

I've just finished a slideshow that I've exported to Quicktime in iPhoto 5. When I play the slideshow from iPhoto, the two music pieces I've selected from a folder in iTunes (the two tunes are the only items in the particular folder I've selected), only the FIRST song plays in the Quicktime movie -- the second half of the slideshow is mysteriously quiet. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi annelouise,
Only one song exporting with Slideshows
Right now, this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
-From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
-Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
-Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
This worked well and was fast to do too.
-Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow
From scotty321 at MacOSXHints.com: If you have Roxio Toast Titanium installed on your machine, you can join unprotected tracks yourself by simulating a disc burn. Simply take these steps:
Go to the Audio tab in Toast.
Drag your audio files from iTunes into Toast.
Reshuffle them in the proper order within Toast.
Go up to File: Save As Disc Image. Save your disc image somewhere on your Desktop.
Choose Utilities: Mount Disc Image. The CD will mount on your desktop, and iTunes will think that you just inserted a CD.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go through the import process, and you've got a joined track! Simply rename the track to whatever you want to call it, and you're good to go.
    From Lori...
    Burn the playlist in iTunes.
Make sure you have itunes Prefs just open the Cd and not automatically play or import the songs.
Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
Put the new combined track into the playlist.
In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.

  • Quicktime Export Does Not Play Music

I am having problems with the Quicktime export function of iPhoto not exporting the background music with the pictures. The old quick time files with the music in them seem to be playing fine in quicktime, so it isn't a quicktime issue. The music plays fine with the slide show, so I wonder why this problem.
Help is appreciated. I am using 5.0.4 version of iPhoto.

If anyone reads these posts and is experiencing these problems I think I have a solution! I spoke to Apple today and they are aware of the problema and are working on a solution. In the mean time they have a work-around and it works!! The problem centers on importing music that is not in MP3 format in some instances. So the easy explanation, or fix, is to reformat any troublesome music selections as MP3. The trick is how to do this if you are using iTunes. This is how I went about it:
First I had to set iTunes to become MP3 friendly. I learned to do this from a post in the iTunes discussions (thanks to Peter Miller!)
    1. open iTunes.
    2. select iTunes preferences.
    3. go to "Advanced".
    4. select "Importing".
    5. In the drop-down menu for "Import Using" select "MP3 Encoder"
    6. Select files in iTunes Library which are not MP3
    7. In the "Advanced" menu select "Convert selection to MP3"
Steps #6 and #7 were not adequate to convert my clips to MP3, however, so I had to take a couple of additional steps.
    1. Create a folder on the desktop - I labeled mine "Slideshow Music"
    2. Drage your music from iTunes to your new folder. You'll have to trash the original copies eventually, but I'd wait until you're sure the conversion to MP3 works to do so.
    3. Use a utility to convert the files to MP3. I used one called iLoveMP3 that I found on the internet. It worked perfectly. I also found a commercial program called Sound Grinder but didn't try it.
    4. Once you convert your music to MP3, discard the copies in your "Slideshow Music" folder that are not MP3.
    5. Discard the copies of your music in iTunes before re-importing your MP3 copies of the same music.
    6. FINALLY! Drag your new MP3 copies of your music in to iTunes. They are now copied as MP3 and will work in your slideshow!
I know it is a lot of work, but if you keep the iTunes settings as they are now, and all NEW music is imported as MP3, I think future music usage in slideshows should be a little easier.

  • Exported slideshow to Quicktime, music now out of sync

Hello: I created a slideshow in iPhoto with music and transitions in sync, then exported it to Quicktime. When I play it in Quicktime, the music track is slightly out of sync with the slides. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Thanks!
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    slhmca:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I think that problem was fixed with 10.4.8 and the newest Quicktime version. Download and use the 10.4.8 COMBO updater as opposed the the Software Update method. I'd do the same with the Quicktime version. QT 7.1.3 is required if you need to access videos from the iTMS. Otherwise QuickTime 7.1.2 for Mac will suffice. It depends on your iTunes situation.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Can't play music in iPhoto slideshow in Quicktime

         Hi,
I created a slideshow in iPhoto and added a song as a sound track.  I exported it according to the instructions in the Help, but when I play it in QuickTime, there is no music.  What am I doing wrong?  The Quicktime Help says I should be able to choose whether or not to include the background music, but I'm not seeing that option anywhere.
    Thanks for any help!

Is the audio track one you purchased from iTunes and is DRM protected? If so then the protection prevents the audio from getting included in the QT movie file.
If you have Quicktime Pro 7 and Quicktime Player 7 you can add the movie to the audio track to get what you want.

  • No Music in exported slideshow

I have read all the threads in this forum but have yet to see a solution to this problem.
I created simple slideshow, created a non-DRM playlist with one song in iTunes and attached the music track to the slideshow. It plays fine within iPhoto but when I export it, i get no audio. I have tried several export types but they all do the same thing. Any help would be appreciated.
    Randy

Having same problem - no music in exported slideshow, even though it plays fine when watching in iPhoto. There are no issues with name or path of the song used, so I don't think that is the problem.
I have 44 slides in my slideshow, using the classic theme, and many of the slides have different length. When I test what I'm doing with a simple 3 slide slideshow using the same music, the export works fine, but just can't get it to work no matter what I do with the full, 44 slide slideshow. It is extremely frustrating as I have done this successfully before. Any suggestions?

  • Reader 9 and X won't play slideshow background music

I have been using Reader 8 satisfactorily, for years, to play slideshows I have made, over many years, using Adobe Album 2.0... admittedly an old program... perhaps 10 years old. Typically I have installed background music in my slideshows. Reader 8 never hesitates to play the slideshows and the music, like a champ.
Two years ago I installed Reader 9 and had to reverse that installation back to version 8, because Reader 9 wouldn't play the background music.
Today I installed Reader X, in the hope that it would play the background music, but this was not the case.
I have verified the presence of Quicktime n my computer, and changed preferences in Reader X to play sounds using Quicktime.  I checked a box that was unchecked, that says to play embedded music.  (Adobe Reader X, Edit, Preferences, Multimedia (Legacy)).
Can anyone vouch for Adobe Reader X's abilty to play slideshow music?
Any help appreciated.  I'd like to adopt Reader X, but I also want my music to play.  Can I re-compile those slideshows, somehow?

Front Row in Mac OS X 10.5.x has been broken the whole time. It used to work fine in Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). Front Row will not play an iTunes playlist during a slideshow if the playlist contains more than one song. You can use a playlist that only has one song in it, but then you might as well just choose a single song instead of a playlist! I would suggest you send Apple some Mac OS X feedback:

This category is for iPod shuffle.  Is that the type of iPod you have, because your description of the problem does not sound like it's about a shuffle?  If it's not a shuffle, what is the iPod model...?
There is music there and I can play it connected to laptop.
Are you doing the playing using the iPod, or are you playing the music using iTunes on the laptop?
All mucis icons read "No music" and this is not correct
Do these icons with "No music" appear on the laptop's screen, or on the iPod's screen

When I export photos to IPhoto slideshow they crop more and more after each play. Is this common?

No. In fact, I've never heard of it before.
It might help if you could give us some details. What do you mean by "export photos to iPhoto Slideshow"? DO you mean you're adding photos to a slideshow in iPhoto? Or hat you created a slideshow in iPhoto and exported that to the Finder?
