No Music on Hold

Hi, We have a MoH problem. When we place a call internally direct from Phone to Phone or a call from external over a CTI routepoint thru an IVR to a phone MoH works fine. In the Wireshark trace you could see following message for starting multicast "StartMulticastMediaReception".
But when we make a internal call from one phone over a CTI route point thru an IVR to a phone then we get no music on hold. In this case the Wireshark message for starting Multicast is different "StartMediaTransmission".
Thank`s
Martin

Martin, did you ever figure out the solution to this?  I am having the same issue.

  • Is there in easy way for end-users to regularly update the music-on-hold audio file (.wav) - without having to learn or install CCA?

I want to give client the ability to change the MOH file themselves - they want to create a new announcement audio each week.   They're not going to be comfortable using CCA.   I was hoping to let them use FTP (from a PC Desktop) to replace the MOH file in Flash with updated .au file.   Is this possible?
If not, what's the Easiest end-user method to have them place the new MOH file into the UC560?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sam

    Hello Sam,
There is an audio port on the front of the UC560. What my clients have done is develop their MOH announcements with associated background music and upload it to an iPod or MP3 player. We plug the audio cable from the iPod into the MoH port and configure the MoH port via CCA 3.2(3). Select the Configuration - Telephony - Voice Features-Music on Hold and select to enable the external MoH port.
As your client wants to add or change the announcements, they just need to play the track and loop it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Music on Hold working correctly on incoming line on hold, but not working on another, hearing Tone on Hold instead

Hello, we are experiencing an issue where we have a local main number and a toll-free number both coming into the Cisco switch as PSTN incoming and routed to the same voice translation rule line. Two weeks ago we updated the Music on Hold (MOH) file in flash, first disabling the previous file. The new file appears exactly the same as the previous file, and we successfully set it through the CUCME portal. The new MOH file is playing correctly when a incoming user is put on hold when dialed in through the local main number. However, when a user has dialed in through our toll free number they are instead hearing a Tone on Hold beeping tone (I googled that multiple times to realize what it was we are hearing).  Anyone have any ideas as to why or how it could be working on one incoming line but not the other and how to resolve?

Not sure how the Express works but on the CuCM you need to go into the administration pages and change the MoH file number there.  I had this issue a few years back and changed the information there.  I also made sure the router was setup correctly with the incoming lines.  Make sure that the 800 number is not coming in on (1) T1 and the local numbers on a different T1, if you are using T's.  If not make sure you WIC card is set correct for hold music.

  • Default Music on Hold on 64 bit Lync 15.0.4551.1005

    Hi all,
I've noticed something strange on one of my deployments when it comes to music on hold, both on the Lync desktop client (15.0.4551.1005 64bit) and the Polycom CX600 hardphone.
I set the global csclientpolicy to enableclientmusiconhold 1 and left the musiconholdaudiofile as "", which is the recommended course of action when using the CX600s to enable music on hold. The CX600 works perfectly, but the Lync client does not.
The Lync client shows the correct file in the ringtones and sounds menu, and the file exists, but music on hold will not play when a caller is placed on hold. Callers hear the initial hold ding, and then silence.
It appears that the Lync client will ignore the enableclientmusiconhold when it is being assigned by the global csclientpolicy. Creating a new csclientpolicy with enableclientmusiconhold 1 and musiconholdaudiofile "" will allow music on hold to
function correctly on both the Lync client and the CX600.
Does anyone else have the 64bit client installed who can verify this is the case and I'm not imagining things? And if so, should I log it with Microsoft as a potential bug?
    Cheers,
    Leigh.

Please run the command Get-CsClientPolicy to check the parameter EnableClientMusicOnHold is set to true.

    Hello,
We are noticing that if you define Music on hold for the Park service, the call park music on hold reverts to default sound after server reboot. (all systems we've tested do this)
Anyone using park music on hold that can verify one way or the other?

    Hi HD,
    Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Here is some additional information;

You may install the Cisco CallManager Music On Hold Disk that **ships with your Cisco IP Telephony Applications Server, or you may download one of two following files via the web:
ciscocm-MusicOnHold, which is a set of wav files providing the entire music selection from the disk
ciscocm-MusicOnHoldSampler, which is a small set of files offering a sample of music available on the disk
** I just looked and these files can be found at the attached link with CCO Login (Right down towards the bottom of the page)**

    As far as your last question, maybe you are looking for the setting "Auto Available" for Agents. Check out Chapter 17- Page 15;

I am trying to set up multicast for music on hold on the cucm 9.
on the cucm, I enable multicast audio sources on MOH server, using base IP 239.1.1.1, and set increment multicast on " ip address"
however the multicast IP address keep changing, sometimes its 239.1.1.1, then after a while it suddenly change to 239.1.1.2 etc..
here is the config on our srst router ( which specify the multicast ip is 239.1.1.1):
is there any way that the multicast ip do not keep changing as its affecting the MOH at the moment.

    Hi Rachel,
If the Increment Multicast on radio button is set to IP address, each MOH audio source and codec combination is multicast to different IP addresses but uses the same port number. If it is set to Port Number, each MOH audio source and codec combination is multicast to the same IP address but uses different destination port numbers.

  • Music on Hold: Best Practice and site assignment

    Hi guys,
I have a client with multiple sites, a large number of remote workers (on and off domain) and Lync Phone Edition devices.
We want to deploy a custom music on hold file. What's the best way of doing this? I'm thinking
Placing the file on a share on one of the Lync servers. However this would mean (I assume) that clients will always try to contact the UNC path every time a call is placed on hold, which would result in site B connecting to site A for it's MoH file. This
is very inefficient and adds delay onto placing a call on hold. If accessing the file from a central share is best practice, how could I do this per site? Site policies I've tried haven't worked very well. For example, if a file is on
\\serverB\MoH\file.wma for a site called "London Site" what commands do I need to run to create a policy that will force clients located at a site to use that UNC path? Also, how do client know what site
    they are in?
Alternatively, I was thinking of pushing out the WMA file to local devices via a Group Policy, and then setting Lync globally to point to %systemdrive%\MoH\file.wma. Again, how do I go about doing this? Also, what would happen to LPE devices that wouldn't
have the file (as they wouldn't get the GPO)?
Any help with this would be appreciated. Particularly around how users are assigned to sites, and the syntax used to create a site policy for the first option. Any best practice guidance would be great!
    Thanks - Steve

    Hi StevehootMITS,
If Lync Phone Edition or other device that doesn’t provide endpoint MOH, you can use PSTN Gateways to provide music on hold. For more information about Music On Hold, you can check

  • Extract a Music on Hold File

I have taken over a position in a company that has a Cisco Call Manager.
I know basic administration, but am not familiar with the rest of the system.
    We have Call Manager 6.0.1.2000-3
The company has a need to change the Music on Hold and the Marketing Dept. has asked for an electronic copy of the file so they can work with an outside company to produce a new recording.
Via a web browser in Cisco Unified CM Administratior I went to "Media Resources" > "Music On Hold Audio Source"
I see information listing it as stream Number 2, but It I have no idea how to say extract it as a wav file.
Is there a place I can go and see the file to copy to my local PC.

You'll have to do this from the command line. The following post contains a document outlining the steps to download the file.

  • Music on hold stops in forwarded call

    Hi,
We receive Lync 2013 calls into Anywhere 365, a workflow where we can pick up incoming calls. So an outside user calls, and we pick up the call on an agent, let's say Lync1. Before transferring the call to Lync2, the call will be placed
on Hold, and the uotside caller hears MusiconHold. Now when we have transferred the call, and the Lync1 has left the call. Lync3 and Outside are connected.  When Lync3 places the call on Hold, the oustide caller hears nothing.
We have tried it in other ways like calling directly from outside caller to Lync3 and tha works Ok. Also Lync to Lync internal works fine.
We tried with Lync to Lync external. So an external Lync calls the same Lync1 user. When Lync1 places the call on Hold, the Lync1 screen says "Call on  Hold"  But the External Lync does not give any sign of being on Hold.
    Does anybody recognize this?

Can you reproduce this first issue with other Lync users?
Please run Lync Logging Tool to collect the log information on Mediation Sever.
When you tried with Lync to Lync external, did you mean you make a Lync call between internal Lync user and external Lync user?
These users should be Enterprise Voice enabled.
There is no music on hold option if the Lync user is not an Enterprise Voice user so if a non EV user puts someone on hold there will not be MOH.

  • Music on hold issue

    Hi everyone,
I am working on a voip class project. I configure the Music on Hold for branch and HQ phones.
When I call from " A" HQ phone to "B" HQ phone and put the call on hold, "B" can hear the music.
When I call from branch phone to HQ phone and put the call on hold, HQ phone can hear the music.
But When I call from "A"branch phone to "B" phone and put the call on hold, the "B" branch phone cannot hear the music. It just goes to silent.
Also when i call from "A" HQ phone to "B" branch phone and put the call on hold, the "B" branch phone cannot hear the music.
I dont know why Branch office phones cannot hear Music. It only seems to be working in HQ phones.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi Everyone,
We recently added a Subscriber in a cluster and the subscriber is in a remote location. All the operations are working as usual except for Music on Hold feature.
If the remote phone registered to the remote subscriber places the call on Hold, the music would not be heard instead there is a silence. Kindy let usk now if at all there are any configurations to be made in the PBX.

  • 3rd party sip device music on hold not working.

When creating that COP file, I added the music on hold feature, meaning Music on hold is supported. After the customer installed the COP file into CUCM, created the new device, and configured MOH to play Cisco's sample audio, the MOH does not work. All other features work including Enhanced Message Waiting Indicator, Call Waiting, and Shared Line Appearance.
When they create a new device in CUCM they follow these steps:
    1. Device > Phones
    2. Add New
    3. Select MH iOS (this is the 3rd party device that has been installed on CUCM via the COP file)
    4. Select Next
    5. Fill out the fields
    6. Select Save and Apply Config
Please provide the solution or input why it is not working.

as far as I know, it has build-in simple "beeper" kind of music.
