No music on my iHome...

I just got my iHome this Christmas and I listened to all the instructions when I placed my Nano inside it. It made a noise like the spearkers were turned on, but no music came from it. I tried the Radio and that worked. Then I tried my sister iPod, (Oldest One) And that worked. Finally I tried my little sisters new iPod Nano that she just got, that worked as well. What is the matter with mine? Who should I contact about this and is there any possible cause of why this is?
Thank you

Thanks a million - I have a Nano and an iHome iH5 version 1 and the nano reset fixed my problem. I don't have the Nano insert and they want 6 bucks for a little plastic widget...guess i will dock with no help from the insert. Thanks again!

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

I also have to add that the right earbud only doesn't work on my phone while i'm listening to music. If I'm face timing it's okay. what the heck.

  • IPod 5 won't play music on old ihome

I have an old iHome and it only works with the old iPhones and iPods. I have the iPod 5 and I have the Lightning to 30 pin adapter. I plug that and my iPod into my iHome and it charges and recognizes my iPod is there. But when I try to play the music on my iPod to the iHome it does not work. I have everytihng plugged in correctly but my iHome will not play songs from my iPod. The song only goes through my iPod speakers but not my iHome speaker! It worked with my old iPod but not my 5th generation! Please Help!

    - Reset the dock
    - go to the manufacturers' support site/contact the manufacturer. Maybe there is a firmware update available.
    - Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you will have to wait for a firmware update to either the dock or the iPod. Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility.

  • How can you get your ipod to play music on your ihome?

I can't get my ipod to play on my ihome is says this accesssory is not supported by ipod touch!

If it started after updating to iOS 5 it may be that the dock is not compatible with iOS 5.  Somebody else recently posted with the same problem after iOS 5.

  • Ipod Nano video and Ihome to go(26)/ unable to wake to music???

Have a new nano video and the Ihome 2 go model 26. Have it set up correctly and all functions work on the Ihome except wake to music, it buzzes. You can go to sleep with music but can not set it to wake to music. Contacted Ihome support and they say a fireware update is needed from Apple. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Hi, Plugged in nano, checked software and it said no update needed. I just want to clarify iHome customer service said this is a current known problem with my iHome guess I will be emailing Apple to see if I can track down an answer. Thanks

  • I have music on my phone that will not show in my iTunes library, so I cannot play those songs from my computer.

I am having a list of problems with my phone. First, my music keeps starting and stopping and I can't get a song to play through.  I went to the apple store and they told me I have some kind of damage so my dock connector thinks it's connected or something. In any case, I have a lot of trouble playing music through my iHome since it is connected by bluetooth and my phone no longer likes to play music. So I've resorted to playing music off my computer through my iTunes library until my phone upgrade is available. Today, I ran into the issue where I noticed I was missing songs from my iTunes library. I checked on my phone and they were on there, so I'm confused why they are not in my library. Shouldn't they be synced?? I'm absolutely perplexed, and I just keep running into problem after problem. Can anyone help as I can't get phone support without giving Apple more money?? Thanks!

You probably purchased those songs on your iPhone and never transferred them to your computer. You can do so by following these instructions:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

  • Music alarm clock battery draining

I like to be wake up in the morning by music and in windows8 I can choose music for alarm but sound volume cannot be regulated(too loud for me). So I installed aplication music alarm where sound volume for alarm can be regulated but it drain my battery for around 25% during night in flight mode. If I use windows alarm it doesn't drain battery but it is too loud. Does anybody knows better ap or anything else what I can do.

I played with this a bit tonight after discovering that my son's Touch apparently didn't wake with his iHome iH8.
I think that turning off the automatic screen lock on the Touch will prevent it from locking up, and allow the alarm clock to wake up the Touch to play music. I've run a couple quick tests and they seem to corroborate that. I'll let you know how it goes in the morning...
So, you've got a choice: hassle of no music via your iHome, or hassle of disabling the screen lock.

  • Can I still put an iTouch in a iHome?

Hi. I have alarm clock/phone/radio/iPod player thing. Sortof like the iHome and it's not EXACTLY. lol. I can put my ipod in this and it'll read it perfectly. My question is, can I put an iTouch in my "iHome"? Will it still work? Even the remote that came with it? Thanks a lot.

I've got an iHome that worked very well with my iPod with Video. I recently got an iTouch and found some incompatibilities. The iHome does not seem to be able to turn the iPod touch on and off effectively. When turning it off, there is this annoying static popping sound that seems to indicate an amplifier receiving a low signal. This is most apparent when hitting the snooze bar. The iPod stops playing, but the scratchy hissing poppy noise is still there. Then 8 minutes later, when my old iPod would come back on, this new one doesn't. The iHome tries to turn it back on but just gets the same noise and then reverts to it's abrasive high pitched beeping sound (the default alarm when there is no audio on the iPod). This might be because of the way the dock connector controls the iPod and may also be related to why my $50 iPod remote control/radio doesn't work on the iPod touch. The buzzing/static noise when I turn off the iPod is also present when I'm playing music through the iHome. Perhaps newer versions of the iHome will solve this problem.

  • Ipod nano not synching with ihome

My ipod nano 3g is not synicing with my ihome [model ih26s] I cant play music through the ihome however, it occasionally says that its charging.
Any help that I can get on this topic would be fantasic! Thanks so much!

The error messeges that I get when trying to update my ipod to 1.1.3 from 1.1.2 is 1417. The error when I try to synch or restore is -53. Does anyone know what they mean? I just purchased an Intek21 high speed USB card. I also get an error on the diagnostic regarding no IEEE 1394 host controller. I'm not using a firewire though, it's a USB connection.

  • Music Alarm Clock

Hi. I was wondering if there is any way to use the ipod touch as an alarm clock that plays music. With my ipod video, it could either play a playlist, or my ihome alarm clock could play it. But with the touch, it cant play music with its own alarm, and the ihome cant wake it up and play it all at once. Does anyone know if there is something that will work? (why would apple take out something thats actually useful like this?)

  • Anyone having trouble with your iHome?

So on three occasions now, my iPod classic has failed to play music on the iHome.
when the time I select for the alarm to go off, all that happens is that the iPod turns on, but the music doesn't play, and after about 15 seconds later, the beeping noise goes off instead.
    anyone else having this problem?

    Agreed.
I have "lusted" for Apple products since I was a kid. I finally bought an iMac a year ago, now between my wife and I, we have that iMac, three iPods and two iPhones.
I am beginning to wonder why.
The fact that Apple hasn't already fixed this problem via a firmware update says a lot to me about the company.
Hey! Apple! This is YOUR discussion board! Are you listening? You are really ******* your customers off!

  • IPod/iHome charging problem

My iPod 5th gen will play music from my iHome iH150 but it will not charge from it. I have tried reseting my iPod by turning it on and off and reset my iPod and reset my iHome by unplugging it for 15 minutes but thats the only way to reset it since it doesnt have a reset buttom. Can someone please help me?

All you can really do is try another cable. If the dock connector on the iPod is bad, a place like
Simple and Affordable iPod Repair Services and parts from iResQ
Will replace the connector but the cost is likely not worth it for a 1G iPod

    Been through these?
    The Five Rs.
Does the nano work when you use it normally? If so, the fault may be with particular accessory. Not all of them are compatible with the second generation nano.
