No music playback via external speakers with IPhone

I have recently purchased a new Iphone and have attempted to play them through my Klipsch desk speakers. I have used these speakers for nearly two years with a number of different IPods and my Mac laptop with no issues...all I have had to do is simply plug in the jack and hit play. However, with my new IPhone I have been unable to play anything through these speakers. All I get is a loud, rythmic clicking noise and no music. There is no issue with the jack itself; it is the standard 3.5mm plug. What am I missing?

All you need to do is strip back some of the rubber on your 3.5 mm jack with a knife and it will fit in there fine. The reason your getting that sound is because the cord isn't plugged in all of the way. Stripping some of the rubber off will make it fit just right. The reason iPod headphones work fine in the iPhone is because there is hardly any rubber around the jack of the headphones.

  • Does the Iphone 3G support music playback via a bluetooth headset?

    Hi All,
Does the Iphine 3g support music playback via a bluetooth headset at all, I suspect not...

It's been on many a user's requested feature list since the first iPhone, and people were disappointed when it didn't show up on the 3G. The adaptor he links to will get the job done.
I have to admit I've demoed a couple of bluetooth stereo headsets, and the music sounded awful. Perhaps it's improved, but for this reason it's not a feature I've personally wished was included.

  • HT1665 how come i cant use other headphones or external speakers with my ipod

how come i cant use headphones or external speakers with my ipod.sood as you plug either in there is no sound.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Can I use external speakers with the iPad when using Facetime?

Can I use external speakers with the iPad when using Facetime?  How do I do that?

They have to be either plugged in via headphone jack or the dock port at the bottom. If you can. I've used it on apple tv, but that's it. I don't know if the others work, but I don't see why not. Try plugging in speakers in the headphone jack. You will get an answer :)

  • External speakers with iChat

    Hi,
I find the in-built speaker volume level very low when i webcam with iChat. I would like to be able to switch to external speakers but can't find a way to do it.
I am using Airport Express to connect to Internet and some external speakers are plugged to it. I expected Preferences/Sound/Output to let me switch to those but they just don't appear in the list.
Is there a way to use external speakers with iChat ?
    Many thanks.

    Hi RemiL,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions
The person at the other end can increase the volume at their end.
The go to System preferences > Sound > Input tab.
For you to switch Output devices you have to go to System Preferences > Sound > Output tab.
Also in iChat > Preferences > Video section - if there is a choice of Output devices there will be a additional drop down to change the choice.
As your speakers are beyond the Airport device they are unlikely to show up. They would have to be connected to the Mac.

  • Docking an iPhone onto external speakers with the sleeve/case on

Briefly: is it possible? I have a nice "Case-mate" leather-like case for my iPhone, but I have discovered that in order to dock it onto external speakers I have to take it out of the case, which is not easy (it's a nice snug fit). Are there any docks where I don't have to take it out of the case? (Or, alternatively, are there any cases which don't interfere with docking?)
    Thanks,
    - Wayne

Would a battery pack that has a USB "port" instead of a "dock" connector meet your needs?
You could use the redesigned dock connection cable and plug it in to something like this:

I'm sure there are much cheaper versions of this on eBay.

  • External speakers with 17" Powerbook

I am having a problem getting my PB 17" to play through a set of external Logitech speakers (mm50's). They are mainly used with my iPod for travelling, but on occasions, I want to utilise them with my Powerbook. When I connected it via the USB port and the speaker connector, I got nothing. The computer continued to play through the built in speakers. I have tried through system prefs - sound - output - but it only indicates output through internal speakers - no option for adding external speakers. Any ideas?

    Harry,
Are you sure these speakers include the functionality to play music via the USB connector? I've had a quick look at the Logitech site and it doesn't seem to suggest they do. (Also the fact that the USB connection isn't recognised as an audio output device reinforces this idea in my mind.)
If that is the case you'd need to run an audio cable from the output socket on the PowerBook to the auxiliary input on the speakers.

  • Hooking up external speakers to iPhone

Can anyone hep me with an iPhone question. I'm at work and I tried to hook up speakers from my PC. These are regular computer speakers with the green audio plug. After I hook them up, there is no sound coming out of the speakers when I play a song. Music still comes out the iPhone speakers. Thanks

If you are trying to put the speaker plug in the iPhone headphone jack then odds are the plug is too large and is not going in all the way.
You can either get the $10 adapter or use the line out on the included dock.

  • How to play your music on multiple airplay speakers on iPhone

how to play your music or music from pandora to multiple speakers from iphone.  I am able to do this on a pc but not able from iphone why hasn't apple implemented this software for iphonex

If you're referring to commercial video DVDs, it's because breaking the copy protection present on almost all such DVDs is illegal in the US and to date, the DVD producers have not licensed anyone to legally transcode a copy-protected DVD into any other format. There are hints that it will eventually be possible with the new formats (Blu-Ray, HD DVD), but nothing firm has been said.

  • Moving music files via external hard drive-- Can you keep ratings/playlists

I keep all my music on an external hard drive in order to prevent it getting lost. Anyways... what I'm wondering is if I go to move my music from one computer (comp. A) to another computer (comp. B), is it possible to keep all the ratings and my playlists? I've seen the stuff for transfering with your ipod, but the problem is my 30Gb doesn't hold all my music, and I would reeeeeaaally hate to go through and redo all the ratings. If anyone knows maybe a file involved with itunes that might contain the ratings or playlists that I could store with the files themselves to transfer that would be excellent. Thanks to anyone who can help out. If you need clarification on any of the details just lemme know.

It looks like it should, thanks. One other bit that I'm wondering about is how do I load that Library list once I've installed itunes on comp B? Is it just a matter of going file>import or file>add new file to library? Thanks again

  • External speakers with built in speakers?

Is there a way to have audio come out through both built in speakers and external speakers?

The only way that comes to my mind is in the latest versions of iTunes using Airtunes, and this obviously applies only to sound comin from iTunes.
When using a pair of external speakers connected to the AirportExpress, you click on both "Computer" and "Airport" in iTunes output menu (next to the buttons for Equalizer, Full screen, eject). Now everything that goes through iTunes will be heard on the computer and on the external speakers.
This does not work with any other source of sound in your computer (quicktime, DVD player, VLC, etcétera), only with iTunes.

  • External Speakers with MacBook

Can I use the spheric glass speakers that came with my iMac flat-panel on my MacBook ?

You need to use powered external speakers on the macbook. The spherical ones that came with the iMac a long time ago have are designed to work off the built in amplifier that came with that iMac and I believe it had a special connector. Griffin used to sale a powered interface that would allow you to use them with other computers, but I don't know if they sale it anymore.
I use Harman kardon's soundsticks II with my macbook. It has great sound and I got them off of Amazon a while back on sale for 79 bucks.

  • Can I use my computer speakers with iPhone?

A friend gave me his old iPhone, and I wanted to play music through my computer speakers. The speakers aren't plugged in to the computer, just directly in to the iPhone. My old iPod will do it, but the iPhone won't. The sound just comes through the iPhone speaker. Is the iPhone able to play music through speakers?

Is the iPhone able to play music through speakers?
Yes it is. However the 1st gen iPhone (if that's what you have) had a recessed headphone socket and you will probably need a skinny little adaptor to get the jack plug from your speakers into the port. Hence the reason the sound is still coming out of the phone as you haven't got your jack plug far enough in. I recently found an adaptor at an airport for my phone but you'll have to look around to find one I suspect.

  • Can I use my monitor and external speakers with apple tv

I have an extra computer monitor (DVI input) and external speakers (3.5mm male audio jack.) Is there  some combination of adapters that I can use to hook up an apple tv to them in order to stream from netflix, and my itunes library?

no but you can get tons of solutions where you connect something to your tv's minijack headset connector and then it wireless transfer the audio signal to a headset
there are both bluetooth solutions belkin have one I use and there are also solutions where the headset is included and they use their own custom protocol
but mind you there is no way to keep such setups in sync in terms of video and audio so if the system is poor in quality or pre-process the audio signal too much it cause audio and visuals to get out of sync

  • Music plays through external speakers when earphones plugged in

When earphones are plugged in sound plays from external speakers.  How can I correct this?

hmm.. there can be a few issues and a few solutions... if there has been any type of water damage to your ipod this may not be helpful.. a few reasons why the external speakers are playing while the ear phones are plugged in may be 1) your ipod touch may not recognize that the ear phones are plugged in... to fix this you may try a few things.. 1. plug in your headphones slowly... that may fix the issue if it still doesnt work try blowing in the headphone jack to eliminate and dust.
if you think that there is a hardware problem please take it to your nearest apple store.. they may be able to fix it or give you a new one
