No network,???? wait firefox works!!! y not safari?

Iam having issues here, all of a sudden safari wont connect to the internet, i cannot access the itunes store and software updates can connect to the server says no internet connection, but iam using firefox right now to type this up, so ***..internet works just fine, all other apps like skype, transmission limewire all work just fine, its just the mac specific software that cannot connect..any one have any ideas , ive tried doing a permissions repair but no luck on that. iam new to mac but this seems funky to me...

A lot of people (myself included) are having internet and network issues, but I'm not sure if you have the same kind of problem.
In the meantime, just make sure your software is updated (MANY will disagree as software updates apparently caused their problems), and maybe trying configuring your router with WEP instead of WAP.
You're sure to get better suggestions than this, so hold on..
It is interesting that Firefox still works - I'll have to test that myself..

User Agent in FireFox works but not Safari

I am trying to log into whstuart.com/clients but it says it requires Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. This is the only every day task that I can't perform on Safari and would like to not have to use multiple browsers every day. I have been able to log in using FireFox with the User Agent switched to Internet Explorer 7 Windows Vista (downloaded settings from site in User Agent Switcher). I tried using Safari and switching to all the IE user agents but it will not get past the error message. I have tried editing the UserAgents.plist that is in Safari (show package contents) but haven't found anything that works. Any other suggestions?

If you have the develop menu enabled - you can disable javascript very quickly, or even assign a keyboard shortcut to it - that will get you past the browser test & display the login form - so just maybe... that's the only place they test, and you can re-enable js afterwards?

This resolved my problem
I checked and my Firefox is doing (or not doing in this case) the same thing. There seems to be a problem with the Snow Leopard and the Adobe browser plugin. I was able to get Firefox working again by going to Firefox > Preferences > Applications and switching all to Adobe settings to "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the plugin. Then I went to Tools > Add-ons... > Plugins and disabled the Acrobat plugin. Restarted Firefox and now pdf worked.

Just bought an iPhone 5C.. Safari is non-functional! A blank frozen screen! Any one else experience this? Horrid design Apple! It's your freaking web browser! Google Chrome works but not Safari! I may simply return this "upgrade" unless someone can help

I have the latest Lion and Safari. I am having great troubles with Safari in performance. FireFox works great, but Safari updated 5.1.2 is awful. What can be done to fix the latest version? I have tried everything!

Is Apple going to fix Safari 5.1.2? It has been a nightmare for since the update. I only had my Mac for a short period of time and didn't have the problem when I started. It all started when the update was loaded. It is puzzling when Mozilla FireFox works better, but slower than the Safari. I was told this browser was the best to use for Macs. I am not seeing it! I have empty the cache, reset Safari, and reset the prefences. I still can't images, server not found error, or best yet-not connected to the internet when the news ticker is running. What more can I do so I can make use of Safari? I am tired to reset and clear cache every time I wish to go browse.

I finally threw in the towel and called tech support since it is free for me for the moment after making my post this morning. They fix my Safari problem! First, they had me do a shut down and unplug the computer for 30 seconds. This idea didn't work for me. Then they had me go and change my DNS from my IP address that was listed to the following:
Go to System Preferences
Click on Network
Click Advance
Click on DSN
Under DSN Severs there is a plus sign. Click on it.
Type: 8.8.8.8
Add another by clicking the plus sign and Type: 8.8.4.4
Go back to the beginning--main page and push the Apply button and then close.
Open Safari to see if that works
This works! So far my Safari 5.1.2 is working like it was before the update on Lion and Safair package! I hope this will help some of you.
Thank you for trying to help me with my intitial question, but it turned out that I needed help from support and fix my DNS. This may not work for all of you, but I hope for some it can relieve the stress.

H.264 home movie works in FireFox(kind of) not Safari

I've created a website in iWeb which includes a h.264 movie. The movie loads and runs on Firefox as a file(from the desk top) but not at my website. In Safari the movie will not open as a file or at the website. After it tries to load the movie a "?" mark appears. I've tried it on an early MacBook Pro and a new iMac.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Once connected, Skype's working but not Safari and Mail

Hi !
I got internet connexion through airport and my skype is working well. But I cannot open a web page with Safari or Firefox, or get/send email with Mail application. All three applications tell "you're not connected" !
Any idea what to do ? I'm using MacBook Pro, snow leopard.

It sounds as if your DNS server is either misconfigured or is not working properly.
Skype has the numerical IP addresses of servers it uses hard-coded into the program, so it doesn't need DNS to work properly, just an Internet connection.

I have this situation, and wants to know if someone have the same problem.
First of all, sorry for my english.
We have an infrastructre of various SSID, and one of them is configured to public access, except our servers ( 192.168.0.0 network). The rest are private SSIDs, and access to all network traffic.
We have some HP printers with ePrint service, and works perfectly from any Wifi device printing to configured email on the HP ePrint service, from the private networks, but don't works connected from Public SSID. With a Laptop and an Android device it works perfectly, both private and public SSID. Seems that iOS can't sync the email on public SSID, so they cant send it to hpeprint account. The private and public SSID are on different subnetworks (192.168.3.0 and 192.168.9.0 ).
The routing and deny/permit rules are configured on a Cisco ASA 5300 device. The SSID stations are all Cisco Aironet.
Problem seems incompatibility with some service / protocol on Cisco ASA and iOS software, not in printing. The problem is sending the email, not printing it.
I suspect it's on iOS side because on Laptops and Android it works fine.

Typically this kind of thing is handled by tweaking the DHCP server to have a list of known client MAC addresses and turning off auto-allocation. Depending on your organization size, though, that might not be practical.
The better solution, though may be to separate the networks and not try to ru them both on the same subnet. You would be better off creating a 192.168.168.x LAN and a 192.168.167.x LAN and enabling routing between them.
Depending on your switch this maybe as simple as creating a couple of VLANs and designating each port as being in the .167 or the .168 network as appropirate.
You then setup some device on the network as a bridge. Depending on which device you use, this could be your switch, a router you install, or even the existing router in your network.
Clients in the .167 can still print to the .168 printers, and vice versa, by routing the print job through this bridge. If routing between the subnets is too much and you're only worried about printing you could install a print server in each network and run all print jobs through that.

you may be connected to the wireless network but the question is the internet working properly on the wireless network...
what i mean is that i can make a wireless network without the internet so i can save and share files and have other devices connected to the same network access them... but you have to make sure that your internet it running properly... may have to reconfigure the router is your using PPPOE or if it was working prior to your post then try to restart your modem... that usually resolves most issues.

Firefox 4 on Mac goes through periods of time where it brings "server not found" or "problem loading page" pages. I have to re-start firefox to get it to work again. Works fine on Safari.

Hi, ever since I was prompted to download the new Firefox 4, I have continuously been having this issue. I will type in a domain name and it will automatically prompt me to "server not found". The websites work fine on Safari and Google Chrome, but not firefox. I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox about 4 times and I really need a solution!
Also, I have done all of the IPv4, Cache, and other solutions listed in the article on having certain sites not load. I'd appreciate some help! Thanks!

Safari not loading pages, Firefox working fine

My Safari has not been working for about 6 months now, thought it's about time I did some troubleshooting.
Pages just refuse to load. The blue progress bar stays in the same spot and doesn't move.
I have performed several updates since it stopped working, most recently updated to Safari 5.0.6 - and still nothing.
Firefox works without a problem though..
Things I have tried:
Running Safari on another user account
Reinstalling and rolling back to earlier versions of Safari.
Deleting all add-ons in InputManager folders (Both home and HD directories)
Repairing HD in DIsk Utility
Really unsure what to try next, any help would be greatly appreciated!

When you have problems with apps in more then one account, it's possible the startup disk needs repairing.
Launch Disk Utility and verify and if necessary, repair the startup disk.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
