"No new airport networks were found"

I have a new Airport base station...model #M8209LL/A.........connected the DSL line via ethernet into the WAN slot.........setup assistant tells me that it does not detect any new network. My airport card works well and detects numerous other wifi networks in my building. Any thoughts?

Additionally........the dsl is provided by verizon.........the ethernet from the modem is connected into the base station.........no network is detected by my laptop...........

  • Airport Setup Issue - No new airport networks were found

I just purchased an Airport Express today. I plugged it in, plugged an ethernet cable into it and it gives me a green light. I went to the Airport Setup Assistant and click on Setup a New Aiport Base Station. At this point it says "No new airport networks were found". What am I doing wrong? I know the internet connection is working and I've accessed other wireless networks before, so it must have to do with the Airport Express itself or my lack of ability to setup it up properly. Is there something I'm missing.
    Thanks!

Have you tried resetting it with a paper clip? Push the reset button in until the light starts to blink, then release and wait for it to restart. Try restarting airport on your Mac.

  • Setup Assistant says, "no new Airport Networks were found"

I just bought it and trying to set up. All plugged in, etc. but with light on front flashing on and off. Tried Airport Utility next, and the only network found was
"Roadrunner" I can't even get it set up!

When you click on Airpot Utility in the app list, it should say v5.0. It will step you through the set up, and you will name your own network. It was a little confusing for me as well!! Also, the modems can act weird. I have comcast and I had to unplug and turn my modem on and off a few times. And restart my computer. Eventually the internet worked, but i cant get anything to work in the USB plug...?? Good luck hope that helps a little.

  • "No airport networks were found" - setup problem

I'm trying to setup a new airport network with an AEBS. I plugged it in to the outlet and then plugged the cable modem ethernet cable into the AEBS. The light turns green. Then I open Airport Setup Utility and get the following message:
    "No airport networks were found"
I then opened the Airport Admin Utility, and it is also unable to see the AEBS.
    Any suggestions?

Okay, I updated the firmware to 6.3 and am now able to see the AEBS network. However, I can't connect to the Internet using the network I created in the Admin Utility.
The Network control pane says Aiport is active and connected to the Internet, but I can't get online. I have a Comcast cable high-speed Internet. I'm not exactly sure what my settings should be in Network?

  • "No new airport network found" Uh oh!

So I snagged another airport express tonight at work since it was on refresh, and guess what. I can't get it to work!
I have been trying to connect it, and for whatever reason every time i try to do so, it says "there are no new airport networks found"
I just want to use the new express for WDS purposes, is there something i'm doing wrong???

    NVM -
sorry to clog the boards. figured it out myself just needed some TLC lol.

  • Option to create a new airport network is not available.

My family has 4 new Intel core 2 duo imacs running OS X 10.4.8. Mine is connected via ethernet to a router, which is connected to the dsl modem. My system also acts as the airport connection for the three other systems which share my internet connection via the buitin airport wireless.
I want to create a new, more secure airport computer to computer network using high encryption, but the option to create a new network is not available. It's not in the airport menu from the title bar, it's not in network preferences, it's not in Internet Connect. I created a new location and it did not allow me to create a new airport network.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, depends a bit where you set it up, but I'd look in Internet Connect First, if you can't find it there then launch the Keychain Access app in Utilities.
Mounting a Network Share at startup is simple as pie...
Once it's mounted on the Desktop, open System Prefs>Accounts, click on the Login Items... drag the Network Share there!
Or, Sharepoints Automounter does it easily also...
    http://www.hornware.com/sharepointsautomounter/
But the solution I prefer is to just drag the Icon to the right side of the Dock between Applications and Trash, or a folder full of Shares, for a Popup Menu!

  • "No new AirPort networks found" help

I have an airport card in my iBook G4. It certainly works, as I am able to use it to connect to the internet (when I am within range of a public network). I do not have my own connection.
I bought an Airport Express for wireless printing. I plugged it into the wall; the light flashes orange. (This is in my apartment where I have no internet access, though AirPort is turned on.) Using AirPort Setup Assistant, I am trying to set up my network so my computer recognizes my printer. I click "Setup a new airport base station" but keep getting the above error message. The Airport Express is 10 feet from my computer. The software is AirPort 4.1.1.
    What am I doing wrong?

Additionally........the dsl is provided by verizon.........the ethernet from the modem is connected into the base station.........no network is detected by my laptop...........

  • New Airport Network - issues with some specific features

    Hello,
I have just changed my wifi system for an Airport Network, with one AirPort Extreme and 2 AirPort Express. The goal was to extend the wifi network to the entire house. Everything is fine, all my computers are able to connect to the network and are able to access the internet. The AirPort Network is connected to the internet with the PPPoE procedure.
The issue is very specific here.
    1. I use Outlook 2007 to handle my e-mails. Since I have shifted to the AirPort Network, Outlook is not able to connect to pop server anymore for 4 of my 5 accounts. Hotmail (pop) is functionning alright but Gmail is blocked !
    2. Windows Update is also unable to connect to the appropriate server.
Maybe there is more but it's all I have noticed so far. I have not changed a single parameter by myself on my computers and both are affected the same way.
I first thought it was a firewall issue but disabling my software firewall (Bullguard) did not change anything. Vista Firewall is not active. Maybe is it the internal firewall of the AirPort Extreme ? But that would not explain why Outlook can send messages (smtp works fine).
Any idea or similar experience ? Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    AdG

Maybe my problem is just bad luck ! I might have shifted to my new network
the wrong day. One day earlier, I would not have seen any difficulty... if this is it.
    Quakes slow cyber connections
By Zhu Shenshen | 2009-8-18 | NEWSPAPER EDITION
SHANGHAI'S international Internet connections slowed significantly yesterday after earthquakes rocked Taiwan and southern Japan. It was unclear last night how long repairs might take. Millions of Chinese Netizens were unable to connect to overseas Websites or use popular online chat tools yesterday afternoon.
About 15 million MSN instant message users in Shanghai and other parts of China were affected as the main servers are in the United States. Connections to most overseas Websites including those run by Yahoo and the New York Times were also clogged.
The chain of events that led to the service disruption had its origin in Typhoon Morakot, which struck Taiwan on August 7 and led to a later breakdown in an undersea telecommunications cable system.
Local Internet traffic was not influenced because transmissions were routed to a backup channel. But that cable failed yesterday near Busan, South Korea, apparently the victim of the earthquakes, according to China Unicom.
The failure affected Asian communications to the US and Europe.
The epicenter of the first quake, which struck at 8:05am yesterday, was about 188 kilometers southeast of Hualien on Taiwan's east coast at a depth of 11km, the island's weather bureau said. The US Geological Survey put the magnitude at 6.7.
The second quake, which was centered close to the first at a depth of 20km and struck at 6:10pm, measured 6.1, the Taiwan weather bureau said. It was also felt in Japan's Ishigaki Island.
"We've sent a team to repair the broken cable, but we can't give a detailed timetable for when it will be completed," said Song Guixiang, a public relations official for China Telecom.
The schedule will depend heavily on weather conditions, Song said.
Repairs are handled by a team comprising the carriers that use the cable.
In most cases it takes one to two months to fully repair damaged undersea cables. In the meantime, telecom operators will try to reroute traffic to operating cables and satellite systems.
Domestic Internet connections and international call services were normal yesterday, the carriers said.

  • Brand new airport extreme not found on utility on iPad

I Just purchased the AirPort Extreme.  My first Apple router but all of our devices are apple products with the exception of our pc.  Extreme is flashing Amber light and is not found in the airport utility app.  I want to enjoy this apple product as much as the others but it's becoming difficul.

OK, thanks for clarifying that for me.
If you have the Setup Guide handy that came with your AirPort Extreme,  please head for page 12 and locate the heading to......
Setting Up AirPort Extreme Using an iOS Device.........To Set It Up
The steps here are pretty clear, and we rarely get a question about this but, we'll go through this in case you might have missed something.
    1. Tap Settings on the iPad home screen.  Settings is the gear looking icon there.  Then, tap WiFi.  WiFi is on the left side of the screen.
    2. Tap the name of the AirPort Extreme. AirPort Extreme is located just under the heading of SET UP NEW AIRPORT BASE STATION there.
In the example below from an iPhone screen, I am setting up a new AirPort Express.  So, I would tap on AirPort Express.  You will see AirPort Extreme on your iPad screen, so you would tap on AirPort Extreme.
When you do this, that will start up the setup wizard.
    3. Follow the onscreen instructions to create a new network or extend an existing network.  The setup wizard will analyze the network and suggest the correct setup for you.
Once the AirPort Extreme has been set up, then you can use AirPort Utility to edit or modify any of the settings that you might need to adjust.

  • Can't set up "older" Airport express as booster for "new" Airport network?

I upgraded to a new airport express (the 802.11n) and want to use that as my primary airport in my house. I have an older airport express that keeps giving me error setting up as a WDS when I reinstall the factory settings to set it up as a booster. Is this an impossibility or am I just missing a step? Thanks.

I was having trouble having the network name show up in the which-network-to-join window. It would be blank and then give me that error message.
In a WDS configuration, you do not use the "join an existing wireless network" options.
The following are the basic steps:
(Note: To facilitate the WDS set up, place the base stations within near proximity of each other during the set up phase, and then relocate them to their desired locations when complete. Also, jot down the AirPort IDs (MAC addresses) for each of the base stations to be used in the WDS. The AirPort ID and is printed on the label on the bottom/side of the base station.)
Main Base Station Setup - 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn)
o On the Mac click the AirPort status menu in the menu bar, and then, choose the wireless network created by the AXn.
o Open AirPort Utility; Select the AXn, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu.
o Click Wireless in the toolbar, and then choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu.
o Click WDS and then choose “WDS main” from the WDS Mode pop-up menu.
o Select the “Allow wireless clients” checkbox if you want client computer to connect to this base station.
o Click the Add "+" button and enter the AirPort ID of the AX.
o Click Update to send the new settings to the base stations in the WDS.
Remote Base Station Setup - 802.11g AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o Click the AirPort status menu in the menu bar, and then, choose the wireless network created by the AX.
o Open AirPort Utility; Select the AX, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu.
o Click AirPort in the toolbar and click Wireless. Choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and choose the same channel as the main base station from the Channel pop-up menu.
o Click WDS and choose “WDS remote” from the pop-up menu.
o Enter the AirPort ID of the main base station in the WDS Main field.
o Click Update to transfer the settings to the base station.

  • How do I connect my existing wifi network to a new Airport network?

Right now I have two wifi networks. The one that connects to the Internet and one that's for AirPlay and has no Internet connection. How do I connect the two? The desired outcome would be to have one network that connected to the Internet and also could connect to my Airport. Please help! Thanks!

Is the wireless network for Internet access provided by another AirPort (Express, Extreme, or Time Capsule) router?

  • Can't set up new Airport Express

My old Airport Express dies so I buy a new one. I use the Airport just for connecting to my stereo for itunes etc. Plug it in right by the computer and get the flashing amber light. Go to the set up assistant and choose 'Set up a new Airport Base Station' and get the message 'No new Airport networks were found'.
I also have a separate Netgear network to connect with my laptop. This set up is connected to the cable box then to the computer via ethernet. No problem with this.
The problem seems to be that the old and/or new Airport Express station does not connect with the Airport Extreme card in the computer. At least it seems the computer doesn't see the Airport Express even though it is right in front of the computer. When airport is on the icon shows strong broadcast signal.
    Anyone have a clue?

Thanks for suggestion - but. Connecting direct via ethernet gives exactly the same results. Computer doesn't see Express therefore there is nothing to configure. I am at a total loss and about to give up. Maybe there is another product that would be compatible with Mac that I could try. I guess it is also possible that the new unit is also bad.
I have a love/hate relationship with computers and right now the hate side is taking over. I hate it when things don't work.

  • Error joining the AirPort Network - revisited

I just got my iBook back from the shop and am trying to reestablish the link with my Airport Express. I've reset the unit, gone through numerous hoops.
The AirPort Express currently has a green light, and my router shows it's connected. Yet, when I try to connect, or try to reconfigure, I get the message "There was an error joining the AirPort network "Apple Network xxxxxx""
I have no idea what firmware is on the unit, nor do I have the means to update the firmware if needed (as I cannot get a connection to it).
Yes, I have a good internet connection. I'm posting this on an older iBook ... which is not AirPort ready.
    Thanks in advance!
Note ... This topic came up in June (2006) ... and is archived, yet unanswered.

    Ciao all.
I'll tack onto this thread rather than starting a new one. It sounds like similar-ish territory.
We've had Airport Express for about three weeks after our Airport Extreme gave up the ghost after 14 months. We have a DSL modem connected to Airport Express, and three computers - eMac, iBook G4 and Powerbook G4 - connected wirelessly. Or we did, until tonight.
On the eMac, I lost my wireless connection. The Airport symbol was still black, and full strength, but my time connected stats disappeared. At the same time, my wife had the same thing happen on her Powerbook. Then the Airport symbol grayed out. As did the Powerbook. I fired up the iBook and the same thing was happening.
Briefly, for a couple of seconds, the Airport symbol would return to black, with, on a couple of occasions, the time connected stats reappearing. We would be connected again. Then the symbol would gray out again.
And the network name would have disappeared from the Airport menu.
If I turned off Airport and turned it on again, the symbol would be greyed out, but the network name would be there. Only, when I tried to connect, I would get the dreaded An Error Occurred Joining The Selected Wireless Network.
And I couldn't access the Airport Express via either Set Up or Admin.
I rest the Airport Express back to factory settings. The Airport symbol remained greyed out, but the Apple default wireless network was visible in the Airport menu. But I would still get the dreaded An Error Occurred, etc message.
Through Airport Set up, I was able to detect the Airport Express' default name and even the network name, but still wasn't able to connect to it.
Trying again, I was told that no new Airport networks could be found.
I've had basically the same results trying all three computers.
In terms of lights, the Express will sit there with a solid green light through all these shenanigans.
The internet connection is solid. Plugging the modem straight into the computer puts me online.
Do we have - as I fear - a lemon of an Airport Express after three weeks?
Hopefully someone can ... help us ...
    TIA

  • New Airport Extreme802.11n &Very Odd Network&Computer Issues

    Hi,
We Replaced a D-Link DGL4300 802.11G and a Airport Express M9470LL/A with the most current Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11N 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz Dual Band and a Airport Express 802.11N (to use with a Shared USB HP1022 Laser Jet Printer. I have contacted Apple Tech Support once regarding setup and mentioned this other ? strange issue(s)
We have broadband cable that goes to a Motorola SB5101(meets ISP specs) then Ethernet cable
from Cable Modem to Wan Port on Airport Extreme. We have multiple computers all with wireless capability 1) Imac 800mhz 874 mb ram 802.11bAirport Card 2) eMac 1.0 Ghz 1gb ram Airport Extreme 802.11bWireless Card
    3) eMac 1.25 Ghz 1.0gb ram and a Airport Extreme 802.11bWireless Card* all running OSX Panther 10.3.9 *and each with 802.11B wireless cards 4) Macbook Pro bought Dec 2009 running Snow Leopard 4gb ram and 250gb HDand 802.11n wireless card 5) HP Tower xw4550 running Win XP Pro SP3 4gb ram 500GB HD and a 802.11G wireless card 6) Dell Mini Net Book running Win XP Home SP3 1ghz 1gb ram 150 GB HD and a
    802.11n wireless card.
At first tried setting up the Airport Extreme with the Dell Mini as it met specs and (as of Yesterday) the Mac Book Pro is with one of our children at college but was able to set up setting up the Airport Utility and Hardware for both Peripheral Devices with the Mac Book Pro.
Then things got odd. All the computers were online (as well as two wireless "Live" capable gaming systems XBox360 and Sony PS3 , I did not check my eMac until the next day
and when I woke it from sleep (or started it) I got "You need to restart your computer"
? Kernel Panic , I ran Disk Utility, Tech Tool Deluxe, Apple Hardware Test and even Applejack. no change and while permissions were repaired Tech Tool Deluxe and The Apple Hardware Test showed no faults with anything, Tried PRAM. restart etc, then we had the other eMac 1.0ghz which has been unused since the Mac Book Pro arrived as a gift, Plugged it in , started it up, and got online, no black screen, even checked and responded to email, then restarted the (2nd eMac 1.0ghz) and the "You need to restart your computer screen came up!) once seems oh maybe, possibly its crashed, or dying out
but two side by side, No Way! , so we then isolated electrical outlets, to the extent with a 100 foot extension cord outside on our back breezeway, same thing. We even went and bought a new battery and tried it in both , no change, * Was able to shut off the airport card in safe mode, restarted and it functioned as a normal computer with airport extreme card off
*same with the 1.0ghz emac airport card off and restart and functions as a computer but no online access. We then moved one close to the Airport Extreme and hooked up by ethernet and changed the settings and Bingo no Kernel Panic Like screen and can get online, tried the other same thing! So currently the two eMacs sit side by side and we bought a long ethernet cord and it works on the table where it originally was,
I did mention this to the Apple Technician that called from Apple regarding a setup issue (as have 90 days telephone support) and he said *That there have been reports of where there are with a Guest Network (we had one set up and He had us remove it as He asked if we really needed it and I said no AND also with networks with computers with wireless cards 802.11b
and 802.11g computers on a network with the802.11n computers and a 802.11n Airport Extreme, he could not explain it any further, he suggested a possible 3rd party software incompatibilty : recent download (but have not done any on the 1.25ghz eMac and the 1.0ghz has been shut
off since Dec 2009. I am baffled , my Wife and I were seriously considering buying a new Imac to replace the 1.25ghz after the Black screen showed up, but when the other one did the same, and did the trouble shooting and then the ethernet connect we saved ourselves a lot of money (t would be nice to have a new Imac but $$ is not there)
and in the past week now (could be our ISP) our Internet connection has dropped off 4 times usually for 30-45 minutes but Friday 8-20-10 it was over 3 hours (yet our Cable TV came in) I will contact our ISP who handles both the broadband about the outages
and our cable TV has been fuzzy -grainy at times, I called Them Friday and their were no outages in our area (system wide) Now though (except with Win XP) that is our access to the Airport Extreme and Utility (it blinks orange off and on when the internet is down) the Airport Express has stayed green each time. I will contact Apple also as ?
is it the Airport Extreme (but its intermittent) channels are set to automatically if thats helpful data rather than set to a specific channel, its fairly rural where we live
I thought of buying Tiger but saw the extreme prices and I called Apple per a recent Apple Thread they did not have Tiger Retail(nor did I expect then to) but after discussing
the Emacs they said why pay so much for Tiger (and a lot are used) they said and went over both eMacs specs and I checked in detail online and called them back as it was in a "card hold" and bought Leopard 10.5.6 (as min of 512 ram, DVD drive (have a combo -drive) and a Power PCG4 which both are and I am now getting unused (non System) data off the eMac and backing it up as well and its job will be to be able to access the Airport Utility (Apple OSX Leopard 10.5.6 was $129.00 plus tax free shipping and it arrived yesterday so if settings need changed can do that (with Win XP the Airport Utility
was so different and after about 4 hours and no progress I stopped and switched to he Laptop the next day!
Has anyone experienced anything like this, I read up on both peripherals before buying and called as well to the Apple Online Store to make sure we could 1) set it up and 2) all computers specs were met to be able to a)use the network for online use and b)as well as shared printing from any and all computers and they do meet the specifications
    * one last item , my Wife's Imac is also on via Ethernet, It asked for a WEP password and that was not a option in the Airport Utility set up ,only WPA-WPA2 Personal password-Security configuration
so She is not on wirelessly (though I know She has been as in the past, Her Imac was on a desk in the foyer ) That may have been with the 802.11b Apple Airport white dome and not the D-Link 802.11G router of which we had a lot of configuration issues
*I could be wrong and will read up on her specs via the Mac Tracker application or online
Many Thanks, Its so odd I did not want to leave out data etc but its a *long post and I apologize for that, I hope some one can send some light on this. On a positive avoided buying a new computer!
but makes no sense (at least to us)!

I too have a MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.6.6) and a PowerBook G4 (1.67 GHz, OS X 10.4.11) and an AirPort Extreme 802.11n. I configured the new AirPort Extreme Base Station N last week using the MacBook Pro and the PowerBook can no longer operate with AirPort on (Restart Computer message). A rep at the Genius Bar indicated that WPA2 encryption might interfere with the G4?? He recommended setting up WEP encryption, this is no longer an option using the AirPort setup assistant.
It would be very helpful to know how this original post was resolved. The G4 SHOULD be able to work with the AirPort Extreme 802.11n in theory, right??

I have bought a new airport express and using it with my macbook (iTunes 10.2.2). I have joined an existing wireless network for internet in my home and with that i am trying to play the music via itunes but there is audio dropouts every 60 secs or so. I am using a set of speakers from kenwood connected to the airport express. The operating system on my macbook is mac os X 10.5.8. i am sure it is not a problem of streaming music online because i have even tried playing music which are stored in my macbook.
Is there any problem with the setting in itunes or quicktime ? Kindly reply...... I am waiting for your valuable suggestion.
Thank you a lot in advance.

I am shocked to have found this same AX audio dropout problem starting TODAY, every few seconds the audio just drops for a couple seconds and then resumes:  Latest software versions of everything.  No iPad, iPhone or Touch.  Internet hardwired to D-Link DES1105 (1000baseT Switch) hardwired to new 80211N AX, AX optical to stereo, AX Wi-Fi internet to basic 1st-gen MacBook operating at 80211G, and an older 'G' AX extender at the far end of the house, away from all this.  The MacBook streaming iTunes is usually 12 feet from AX.  I've used this setup for years of trouble-free AirTunes / Airplay until today.  Today I also found 2 very reliable fixes and 1 way to force a dropout, but first, I read some posts and tried ALL following settings one-at-a-time and restored them ALL because NONE of them helped:  Turned off IPV6.  Streamed to multiple speakers 'Computer' and 'AX' (restored to just AX).  Turned off 'Ask to Join new (WiFi) Networks'.  Turned off Bluetooth (can't live without Magic Trackpad, so glad that wasn't it).  Here's my discoveries:  Lo and behold, each time I click the Airport icon in the Menu (you know it shows you've got 4 bars from AX) when the status switches to 'Looking for Networks' for a second it CAUSES the AX audio to drop out for a couple seconds (it never did that before today.)  iTunes still playing, streaming, AX laser still lit, but the 'PCM' light on stereo and the sound GOES OUT EVERY time I click the Airport icon in the menubar, just like the regular, annoying dropouts.  So, to reduce traffic I quit Safari (3 tabs, no streaming, just Gmail, Google, and Netflix browsing).  Lo and behold, the dropouts stopped altogether.  No other Web apps going (not iTunes Store, Genius, Ping, nothing), so I launched Chrome to the same 3 tabs and the dropouts HAVE NOT RETURNED.  That's right, not only did simply QUITTING SAFARI cure it, and Chrome doesn't contribute to it, but I can demonstrate it just by forcing my Airport to re-scan.  Works for me, written using Chrome.  The other reliable fix is to hardwire MacBook to the Switch.  This is obviously not ideal, but Airplay audio doesn't drop out over Ethernet.  Also, in all my tests, it made no difference whether iTunes did the streaming, or Airfoil did.
